Sorry for the delays everyone! Initial post always takes the longest =) This one took >2 hours because of the new bullshit format. Seriously, I don't know why they combined ODT and OSL, and this whole "three person in a group" thing messes up my original format. Given that I think I'm going to try this indenting thing, since I think it'll be the easiest visual style motif to follow.
This thread is awesome. The last tourney threads seemed to be a little slow on the updates, while this one seems almost right on . I actually really like the format you have set up and the indentions. Having VODs in the thread is awesome too!
I really hope Nada goes farther than he has been....
fantasy and rock made it instead of Nada and han. Other than that Im pretty happy with the players advancing. Would have been nice to have Yarnc instead of Midas to have more Zergs I guess. Still happy for EmoTerran tho
I have a question does anyone know how the groups work? Because I am pretty sure more than 3 people picked July's group. Like all of his former teammates on MBC lol. Bisu, Sea, Light, as well as some others.

they have group drawing, those picks were to build up tension between players etc... so those mean nothing so far.

Those groups are not official, they're just hype makers.
Ahh, skt looking strong! Could a fanboy be any happier? Nope he couldnt.. Anyway im a little surprised that considering lecaf's scary line-up they have only one player in osl, and that ofcourse has to be backho...

Those fools will be pushed back into theyr place and be punished for all eternity by the God of War!
For me, the biggest surprise was no doubt thezerg.
Like seriously, he sucked dick before, but now he is capable of beating HwaSin. Thezerg has real good potential to be a great player now. I think during his absence of proleague and such, he has practiced real hard. So I'm gonna keep an eye on him.
han surprised me when he beat Jaedong, but I was very disappointed when he ALMOST beat theRock in game 3 =/
SKT1 looking strong again, 4 players. Thinking about how they did last year, was horrible accomplishments. Now they look so good! with more and more players showing off their skills.
First of all: Plasma is the most stupid Map EVER, how gay can a mapmaker be to even think about creating such a shithole.
Ok, that said let's go on:
Group A: July -> Flash -> Bisu -> Much If i look at this i see the following:
Much > Flash (PvT god vs a probably not really inshape flash). July > Much (ZvP god while PvZ is not exactly Much's favorite matchup (?)). Flash > Bisu (if Bisu doesn't improve, an out of shape Flash vs out of shape Bisu i would give to flash anyday).
The really tough fights are:
Flash <> July? After his huge loss to Jaedong Flash's TvZ is very questionable, as is Julyzergs ZvT... This game has the potential to be very exciting if things don't go Flash's way from start to beginning.
Bisu <> Much? If Bisu does as good as he can he should be able to take this, but he did not do as good as he can in the near past.
Bisu <> July? I saw both of them win against eachother, July screwed up one game royally to 2 DT's refusing to build a single sunken throwing away his headstart in that game (at least i saw him in the lead until he got owned by 2 DT's and failed his Hydrapush which was a stupid decision anyway...), in the other game Bisu got under a very neat Hydrapush which was hidden perfect by July.. So, this will be interesting and i'm really excited to see this game.
I hope for: 1. July 2. Much 3/4. I don't care just send Flash home :p.
I think it will be: 1. Flash (lose to Much, wins against Bisu/July). 2. July (lose to Flash, wins against Bisu/Much). 3. Much (lose to July, wins against Flash/Bisu). 4. Bisu... ain't winning anything and goes home crying :p.
Hm.. This should lead to a Tiebreaker (Flash > July > Much > Flash)? In a Tiebraker i think July would make it because he's just too experienced and does not even know what choking means.
... I hate Terrans so i would love to see Much go on as he's capable of sending all of them home :p. ... I love Zerg, i love short, aggressive games, so... July! ....I love ZvP, it's just the most entertaining Matchup.
Group B: BeSt -> GGPlay -> Rock -> Light
Beast should make this, i don't like him but well... Who in this group should stop him? GGPlay? If he plays good he will make second. Light/Rock? Cu. Who likes any of these 2 anyway?
Group C: Luxury -> Thezerg -> Midas -> Mind
Luxury should be able to pull this out. His ZvZ is outstanding and his ZvT is also strong. TheZerg... He showed great ZvT and ZvZ in the preliminaries but other than that there is not much i know of him. If he's as good as he looked he should make second in this group, if he isn't he will fail for sure against Luxury and Mind.
I think this will be: 1. Luxury (3:0) 2. Mind (2:1) 3. TheZerg (just can't judge this guy, looked good.. but so do Jaedong and ForGG and where are they? :p ) 4. Midas (no, i don't love you)
Group D: BackHo -> Stork -> Sea -> fantasy
You know what? I love Backho . If you watch his PvT games your just like... Attack you idiot and he does it, only 5 minutes to late losing all his units . He's not really terrible at PvT he just seems to screw things up somehow no matter what (he did not look THAT bad against Flash, he screwed some things up, he had TERRIBLE luck but he did *ok*. His PvP is strong, his ZvP seems weak but he has no Z in this group. Stork... The games i saw, he lost to Backho (but i read that he also 2:0 backho before)... so... I think if anyone than Stork should be able to go out of this group, he does not choke that early . Sea... He's a nice guy but seriously... His comment in the group selection... He's a born loser. Fantasy... Looked good in the prelminaries...
1. Stork 2. Backho (IF he does not screw up, well... or is screwing up and winning anyway...). 3. Fantasy (not yet...) 4. Sea (OSL is sending crying before playing Emokids home).
I just want Backho to kick Sea and later Much, Best, Luxury or Mind out to watch all the drama on TL.net . More love for Backho.. hm.. is the nickname "Chaostoss* allready taken? Backho would really fit that one .

Sorry I have to post this question here, but I looked everywhere and don't see how to start a thread. I don't even know where the help thread is. Anyway, anyone know why the spidermine didn't detect the reaver at 1:12?
Group A: Flash advances no matter what. If Bisu beats Flash, Bisu will advance as A1 along with Flash (who would get demoted to A2); if Bisu loses, there will be a three-way playoff between Bisu/July/Much for A2, as Flash advances as A1.
Group B: If Best beats Light, Best advances as B1 and GGPlay as B2. If Light beats Best, there will be a three-way playoff between Best, Light, and GGPlay for both B1 and B2.
Group C: If thezerg beats Midas, thezerg advances as C1 and Mind advances as C2. If Midas beats thezerg, Midas advances as C2 and Mind advances as C1.
Group D: Stork advances as D1 no matter what. If fantasy beats BackHo, fantasy advances as D2; otherwise, there will be a three-way playoff between fantasy / BackHo / Sea for D2.
Those not in control of their destiny:
July and Much both need Flash to beat Bisu to have a chance at A2. GGPlay would want Best to beat Light to be assured of a playoff spot, but would have a shot at B1 if Best loses to Light. Mind wants Midas to beat thezerg so that Mind can advance as C1 Sea needs BackHo to beat fantasy to have a chance at D2

Same. While I *gasp* actually like BackHo sometimes, I'd much rather see Sea advance. The game of Sea vs Stork was just... so painful to watch. I really felt bad for him. Lost the game by a quarter of a inch, literally.

Stork 3-0'd his group.
Sorry, but what's your point? My point was that Mind was the first (and then only) player who had lost a game and still advanced.

Sorry, I thought you meant:
"Mind is the only one through! Despite losing a game!"
instead of
"Mind is the only one so far who's lost a game and still advanced!"

and by sea you mean bisu right?
I agree with this prediction! It's going to be a boring semi, but hell ;P

That's a bad typo :\
Really the only 2 players that I like that are left are GGplay and Flash (and I only kind of like them), so my prediction isn't who I want to win, just who I think will win.
With at least one good Protoss having a guaranteed Semis appearance we could finally be graced with another Protoss OSL champion. Oh wouldn't that be nice?
If Elo is anything to go by (and I quite believe in it) then Stork or Best will feature in the final against Flash. I'd personally prefer Best to take on Flash.
It really sucks how all Toss are caught up in the same half of the bracket.
I made a bracket for the Ro8 if anyone wants it. It's not spectacular, but I was trying to experiment and see if I could do something new instead of the same old linear bracket. It didn't even come out how I really wanted it to, but I haven't seen anything else yet so here's what i have so far.

I stared at that for about 3 minutes and I still cannot understand who is fighting against who
Follow the little black lines......
Well, I did say it was experimental.
Re: Hot Bid I know..... but I can still hope I really believe he can do it, though. He has been owning Bisu lately. Then if he can get past BeSt he shouldn't have a problem with whoever ends up in the finals (as long as he actually practices this time).
It's pretty much the same as the Ro8 anyways, at least right now. Only difference in the Ro8 is the screaming "FAILED CREATION!" at the beginning and I think it's also slightly sped up.
Well, time to watch the Ro8 vods, I'm really good at avoiding spoilers lol
Midas 2-1 Best Stork 2-0 Bisu Flash 2-1 GGPlay Fantasy 2-0 Mind
Midas 3-2 Stork Flash 3-2 Fantasy
Midas 3-2 Flash
Being a Midas fan this is a rather optimistic prediction. But I think that the winner of Best versus Midas will go on to take the entire thing. Sure Midas threw away too many tanks in game one and sure his game looked a bit off. But Plasma and ROTK are good Terran maps so he should be able to do a comeback. GGPlay is hard to predict aswell, he looked like the monster in game one but he will not win if it goes to a third game on Plasma so he has to take game two on chupyeong ryung. Fantasy may well take down either GGPlay or Flash in the semi though, but flash still is a monster. Stork on the other side will take neither Midas nor Best down.
umm how were the maps for bo5 determined? Does it not work with thumbing down anymore? I can't believe GGPlay wouldn't have thumbed down Plasma. If it's completely "random" I guess its either the worst luck ever for GGPlay or its OGN trying to help out with the "royal road" story.

OSL does not use the thumbs down rule, map selection is random as far as I know.

thats the dumbest shit ive ever seen... if ggplay loses in 5 games and both games on a friggin island map i gonna be pissed t.t
Go Stork Go!!! Stork spend most of time to practice... He never skip practicing cause he's tired... He is the most sincere man ever I met.... Stork go!!! Time to grab gold medal.
Stork's instinct of Silver melda VS Best's PvP Who will be a winner... I guess Basic instinct of Silver medal is stronger than Best's..... Stork will move to final.... and he will get silver medal again...:D that's better for Stork.....cuz....If he get a gold medal... he can neglect his practice.... Though....with long term view...Stork's silver medal is better for him...
I really want Stork to win this OSL and he did knock out Best last OSL In the TLPD both protoss are 2 and 2 against each other, but Best has won 15 straight coming into this match.
I see a 3:2 Stork win. He deserves winning the a starleague.

Why? I think Fantasy is a strong player and if he beats either Stork or BeSt, truly deserving of the OSL title, proving himself to be one of the best. Unless you have a personal vendetta against him o_o.

lol, people use to say that to bisu's pvz. and look at bisu now. sc is a game where u cant confirm a win or lose by looking at a player. anything could happen

People who have won SLs recently are just honestly not as entertaining and interesting as a player compared to Bisu and all the others before him. The last time I ever felt happy for anyone after winning a Starleague was Bisu when he defeated Savior.
When Fantasy wins, to me he'll be just another faceless winner out of nowhere.
If Stork wins OSL, my faith in SLs being entertaining ever again will be somewhat restored.
Hmm, I can kind of see your point, but I think Fantasy is more entertaining than stork, besides watching Stork crush every T out there, he isn't that much fun =(. Fantasy on the other hand apparently 'revolutionized' TvZ, and even if he didn't his mech play with valks was certainly very very entertaining. Also his one base SK Terran was also a treat to watch.
Wow, great Bo5. 3 different wins each game, all quite clear cut wins imo. Good timing with the 4gate in game2, then great probe line masacre on game3, and then tricky inside his base proxy on game4. Maybe Best has better micro but Stock just moved the goal posts....
i've never liked stork, but he's undoubtedly a great protoss and deserved that gold more than anyone ever (other than maybe yellow). he's playing much more creatively than i've ever seen him play before, and his reaver micro/push breaking is just unmatched.
i'd also like to say this is the best starleague i've watched, start to finish. i think i've seen just about every game, from the round of 36 to the finals, and there were just so many good, memorable games. i'm terribly sad to see it end.
I will remember this as one of my favourite OSL seasons of all time.
The starting line-up was great and the players I cheered basically all played well. When it was BeSt, Stork and Fantasy left I knew I would be happy with either outcome (except some boring 3-0 or 0-3 rape), BeSt vs Stork didn't fully live up to my expectations, but the final was just great and I am really happy for Stork. I cheered for him in all his past finals and now he finally did it. BeSt is also there to stay and I am confident he will win a Starleague sooner or later. And once Boxer is back in SKTT1 (which will be by the end of the year I think?) maybe Fantasy can develop even further.
I was very disappointed that fantasy didn't get the chance to bring out his prepared stuff for the first 2 games... ugh who knew stork would go all balls in? but nonetheless it was an AWESOME 5 games to the finish ^^. My gosh...i say congrats stork and fantasy u'll always have next time
