Commentator Nal_rA, who used to be a gamer, will be leaving MBC Game to be on OGN.
MBC said that they are adding Im Sung Choon and Jung In Ho to their commentator list. It has been confirmed that Nal_rA will be leaving MBCGame to be on OGN from 09-10 season.
MBCGame representative said that "We talked with Nal_rA during the off season and he wanted to be in a new environment. We honored his decision and allowed him to move to OGN. By adding the new commentators, we hope to make the games more fun to watch."
Starting from 09-10 Proleague season, Nal_rA will be an OGN commentator. OGN will release their list of commentators/castors soon.
On that thread about him becoming a teacher, it was translated "Nal_rA will stop commentating on MBCGame" but I didn't find anything about stopping commentating on the Fomos article about Nal_rA becoming a teacher.
Maybe a mistranslation, he was going to do both jobs.

he is quite a crappy commentator i have to admit not as bad as that new fat guy though
New fat guy is awesome, hes funny witty and also...
He was first known to be an above-average War3 Progamer, but has done the follow commentating for games: War3, Special Force, Get Amped!, Tekken and etc etc.

I'm right with you there eh.
Any glimpse of the great man makes my heart flutter.

Strange, I thought he fit in quite well at MBC. The group of commentators he was with was by far the most exciting of them all. If he was going to continue commentating, why not stay there? Though, with that kind of official statement there might have been some internal issues we aren't aware of...

FUCK YES
great decision Nal_rA!
I've only done one commentator photo shoot aside from a quick photo of Yooi taken back when MBC was housed in COEX so it'd be a nice change of pace. We don't really know each other except for the odd hello, but he seems like a chilled person
Saturday and Sunday: Jeon Yong Jun, Kingdom, Nal_rA Monday: Jung So Rim, Kim Chang Sun, Kingdom Tuesday: Seong Seung Heon, Kingdom, Nal_rA Wednesday: Seong Seung Heon, Kim Chang Sun, Nal_rA
So it looks like OSL casters of Kim Carrier and Um Jae-Kyung won't be working on Proleague anymore, which is good as it allows them to concentrate on OSL.
I don't know about the commentators, but during proleague, I like the OGN camera operators and the OGN observer a lot more than the MBC ones. The OGN one cuts to the crowd at appropriate/exciting times and it seems that the MBC observers often miss sudden action in a game.
And if I'm not mistaken, it was really awkward when MBC dubbed their choice of game winning music over the actual sounds at the location - I'm guessing the OGN commentators and music were the ones played to the crowd?

are you kidding?
I absolutely HATE OGN's frequent crowd cuts that interrupt IMPORTANT action all the goddamn time.

Kingdom and Nal_rA on Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays That means they'll be doing Woongjin vs SKT, Hite vs Oz, and KT vs Woongjin
I'm glad to see him still doing well. With SC2 on the horizon, I wonder how much some of the people in that business are at least a little worried about what will happen if SC loses popularity. Obviously if SC2 completely fills the void, there isn't much to worry about, as long as they put in the time and effort to learn it. Nal_rA shouldn't have much issue there, I wouldn't think.
This news is actually somewhat dissapointing. Very often, people give the MSL less credit simply beacuse it is not as old as the OSL (even though the MSL has essentially gained equal reputation and coverage since it`s KPGA days). Since Nal_rA was one of the most well-respected progamers due to his in-depth game knowledge, his position as the MBCGame commentator helped alleviate that negative reputation somewhat.
Since he is now leaving to commentate for OGN, this could very well go to reinforce the "OSL>MSL" attitude. While IntoTheRain is a good addition to MBCGame, he simply does not enjoy the same amount of reputation and fame as The Dreamer.
Oh well, I am glad that Nal_rA will at least remain directly involved with the progaming scene.
^ it's a personal choice whether to see osl as superior to msl or not these days. and most ppl have good reasons to think osl is better.
for me it's always been OSL >>>>> MSL. It's where pro reputations are cemented. Not to mention OSL final stage is always so big and grand the commentators' voices echoed.
Nal_rA went over to ogn to be with Kingdom, lol cute

The problem with that logic is that some of the most well-known players (including Bonjwas) cemented their reputations through the MSL. Iloveoov, Savior, Bisu, Nada...all of them and others made their mark as top players by winning the MSL.
Also, please enlighten me on those "good reasons", beacuse, quite frankly, the only reason I have seen so far is nostalgia...and that hardly qualifies as a "good reason".
I do agree with you, however, that it is a matter of personal choice. Of course, that implies that the leagues are equal and that preferences simply come down to personal taste.
Well I can't say I'm happy for Nal_rA but I do wish the best of luck! So I guess being a MBC commentator wasn't his true nature??? So what does that leave us...
Nal_rA ---> Player, Gamer ---> Progamer ----> MBC Commentator ----> no military service due to disability ----> MBC Commentator ----> OGN Commentator ----> Teacher + OGN Commentator?
What's next, Nal_rA becomes a head coach of his newly made team??? and then it becomes a big brawl between the Nal_rAs and the BoxeRs......

WHYYYY
Is he bad at commentating? As I don't speak Korean I assume that I would never have known.
naw he's an amazing commentator, it's just that I am kinda butthurt there won't be the whole "OMG KING IZ BETTER" or "OMG RA IZ BETTER" thing. Friction = Moar ratings
However I do understand why OGN did this. Ever since TheMarine left their ratings did plummet to the ground

I said these days cus most ppl these days started watching recently and it's doesn't really matter to a casual watcher. OSL, MSL, as long as good games happen they don't care.
the "good reasons" are simple: the last 3 OSLs rocked the last 3 MSLs. Bacchus was good, Batoo was amazing and Incruit was unforgettable. Ever08 wasn't shabby either.
MSL was awesome during the 06-07 period. But lately it's been really bad. Especially the latest one where Iris takes out Bisu and then drops the keys AND the soap on Kwanro. Either one of Iris or Bisu would've been more exciting, and yet it's just been one disappointing advancement after another.
I guess the guys who make waves have been in OSL since 07.

avalon >>>>> bacchus
batoo/incruit were better than clubday and lost saga yes.
arena msl was almost as good as ever08 (only because July is so amazing though).

Last OSL had Jaedong vs Fantasy.
last MSL had calm vs jaedong, jaedong vs canata, bisu vs iris, and kwanro vs iris (and even the finals were pretty good IMO). all of which were far more entertaining series than anything the OSL had.
JD vs fantasy was good for the 1st 3 games(3rd being good for a 4pool but still just a 4pool), and then the 4th game was lame and OH IT DIDNT EVEN GO TO 5 GAMES
