Interesting ranking. I haven't really followed BW a lot since the individual leagues are on a break. Didn't know Flash was on a slide. I thought he was firmly in the #1 spot.
Flash's streak is broken. What sweet justice. Alas, Bisu wasn't able to get any huge accomplishments for points. He'll just have to make up for it this month.
Stats all-killing teams didn't let Flash play much in PL... I really never realized points depreciation was that important in the ranking. I remember Flash having 4000+ points not that long ago...
Flash dropped so much because old results stop counting at a certain point. Remember that the off-season between KA2/Bigfile and last season was very long.
I am happy for Fantasy. He's going to take a lot of heat from rabid fanboys for surpassing Flash and Jaedong but he deserves to escape their shadows. He's a very good player, probably third best player of the past 12 months (which includes the time when FvJ finals was happening in every league: OSL, MSL, WCG Korea) and he's accomplished the most of anybody since the start of the new season.

What the heck. I thought this was a joke, but the source suggests otherwise. Hard to believe that Fantasy's on top. I guess winning the OSL does go a long way though...

I don't think you're remembering correctly past the last few seasons of pl, fantasy was sitting around 50% win rate and struggling big time for a few months straight
KeSPA rank rewards high places in individual leagues a lot more than consistency in proleague. Fantasy won the last OSL (ugh), getting huge points for that, while Flash lost a bunch from one of his dual finals from last year not counting anymore. Flash got knocked out of both leagues early this season too
in conclusion, elo is a lot better at determining the best player than kespa rank. congratulations to Fantasy anyway though
How did hydra go down one with stork not going up one? I realize that's not the only possibility but does anyone else see how that doesn't make any sense?

Flash would still be above fantasy had he won like 2 more proleague games or made it out of the groupstages of EITHER league these past few months. It's his fault he's been passed up. Congratulations, Fantasy! I doubt he'll have it next month because he's not nearly as consistent in proleague and he'll start losing these OSL points fast, but it is quite the achievement to take the #1 kespa rank.
Whether or not Fantasy keeps this rank depends on subsequent performance - but it also depends on Fantasy's last year record vs whoever is his competitor. Fantasy's got some crap months behind him while, say, Flash (and probably Jaedong) last year was raping everything so it's possible he'll keep it even if he doesn't dominate everyone this month.

Take it from your fellow Flash fan right here:

And also, just fyi Mr. Scaramanga, pay good attention to Nick Nack. On the subject of Fantasy's supposedly shitty PL performance, he was #5 ranked in SWL (#3 by wins) and has total stats of 37-20 in PL counting his playoff performance so far, meaning he's tied with Jaedong for third most wins overall behind Flash (43) and Bisu (45). And in case you hadn't noticed, Fantasy had a much stronger SL showing...
Never thought I'd live to see the day... kid has had skills for a long time, but he seemed like he had anti-star sense for a while. Good to see him put it all together.
Uh. I usually open the monthly KeSPA rankings every month expecting to see the Flash & JD at the throne, but this? When did Fantasy take top. I read the spoiler, but maybe fomos also in on the 4.1? lol
Now this is a real april fools. Not a joke. This is REAL! He was No.1 18 times so far at a young age.He will definitely set a higher record before he retires. I bet he will be No.1 in Kespa rank 12+ more times in the future setting a record forever.
I guess Fantasy wouldn't be as good of a hated enemy player if he weren't good. Still, all of his success was a little knock to the jaw and this is the garnish.

His vZ will never be consistent. Period.
Yep, that's why I said he needs to absorb it from Flash.
On note, Fantas vZ has improved, but still needs to get better. Specially when lots of teams are Z heavy and Dong getting back to shape. Next playoffs could give us better picture where Fantas vZ stands now.

Yes Flash has sat atop the kespa ranking longer than any other progamer. Boxer and Nada were tied at 17 a piece (Boxer 17 straight, Nada 16 straight). I believe JD is sitting with 16 months currently so it's not out of the realm of possibility to see JD make a run for it.
I think this is fanta's first time at the top? Grats!

Your kidding me right last PL during last year of final round and playoff fantasy came in and raped people left to right when they went into ace. Fanta deserves this.
Odd thing about fanta is when he dominates Z he sucks at P. When he dominates P he sucks at Z LOL.
again, Kespa rankings never mean much, but when you get deep into the OSL/MSL/ win one of them, its pretty hard to NOT be on top. Flash didn't really have a chance, despite his winners league performance / Fantasy's sometimes mediocre play in PL. Rather, its more impressive Flash has managed to stay so close to fantasy .
Guess what? After more than a decade of BW, fantasy is only the 11th player to ever reach KeSPA rank 1, after BoxeR NaDa iloveoov July Chojja sAviOr Bisu Stork Jaedong FlaSh.

points due to results from the last 3 months are applied 100%, but for every month afterwards, 10% of the points gained “decays” (so basically a game played 3+ months ago would count for only 90% of the points it was worth, 4+ months 80% until 12 months afterwards when it would count 0%).
Flash's points from his league runs this past year are slowly decaying, on top of which he didn't get much play in SWL due to Stats (and action) stepping up. Meanwhile fantasy is part of a 2-man team and he took an OSL. Flash will need to get deep in leagues again (of course winning them is acceptable too) coupled with his strong performance in team leagues and he should reclaim his spot for another long stretch.
I was surprised and did not see this coming. However, after thinking about it I understand why. Congratulations Fantasy, now comes the challenge of keeping it.
Though with the OSL so outrageously delayed, Proleague will begin counting for a lot more so he better keep up the good work with his team.
the way the ranking system works as far I know will make flash actually lose a good share of his points unless he wins both leagues again, since he still carries the points from 2 seasons ago.
how is fantasy above flash, jaedong, bisu and stork? he's not one of the four pillars and he's easily the most inconsistent broodwar player at the moment. does winning a single osl have that big an effect? it's gonna be so weird to see KESPA ranking: 1 whenever fantasy plays.

OSL victory is the only reason he jumped past his peers. Stork reached a semi which helped him as well. Flash/JD haven't, and their previous wins have been decaying.
The same goes for Hydra's placement. Up until a few months ago, Hydra wasn't a very important player (relatively). In the December KeSPA rank he placed at #17 with 933.8 points. His MSL run coupled with good SWL performance brought him all the way to #4 in March with 2,245.5. Had he been more solid before his MSL run (and thus had a higher base score) he would be in the exact same boat Fantasy is in right now.

Woops, I think some mod needs to do some editing. That little Apr1l f00ls joke did some serious damage.
EDIT: More damage than just to Flash's scores I think. I'm pretty sure that Fantasy's TvZ ELO peak was 2177 but now it says 2172, which is his current ELO score. (Yes, I happen to visit TLPD a lot...)
I mean if he really moved a place then someonelese must have risen, but thats not the case. (not looking at top3 obviously because those are correct). ---> If he dropped 1 spot and is now place 5 then he had to be place 4 last month and someone else was in place 5. Where is that guy who was in place 5 last month?
----> checked last month ranking ---> Hydra was 5 already, so its double wrong^^

If there's one player that deserves to be number one besides FlaSh and Jaedong, it's FanTaSy. Congratulations to him, hopefully this boosts him to further heights and helps him to fill the shoes that BoxeR and especially iloveoov have left behind.
I can't wait to see FanTaSy take on Jaedong and FlaSh this month.

I'm sure you didn't really punch a baby, but what is it with the vocal Flash fans that can't seem to accept that their favorite player might not be on top all the time?
So much Fantasy hate T_T. The guy is has been consistently the 2nd best terran and 3rd/4th/5th (depending where you place stork and bisu) best player for a while. He's tied at 3rd with Jaedong for most wins this PL season and he has to share games and ACE matches with the current #1 ranked for most wins. <-- So Stats stepped it up this winners league and got 3 AKs? so did Bisu.
Give Fantasy some credit for this; the guy has been playing some great SC and his worst match up went from under 50% a year ago (32 - 34) to (73 - 53). Since people criticized him for being godawful at TvZ he's gone 41 - 19 That's 68.3% TvZ in the past 12 months and he sits at a 65.7% overall winrate since April's 1st last year.
He might be no Flash but you know how these rankings work and while an OSL title is indeed worth a lot, he's not just a fluke and had been sitting in at the 3rd spot behing Flash and Jaedong for a long time without anyone noticing because he's not Flash or Jaedong.
Just to throw this last bit in: His worst match up in the last year is TvT statistically: 21-14. 9 of those losses came from [3 - 7] FlaSh (hello 5th bonjwa?) and [0 - 2] SkyHigh (70% winrate TvT machine at the time). And all of those were really cloes games. Go re-watch TvT palooza @ Bigfile MSL semi finals around the end of last year. ^^~
Yes FlaSh is still bonjwa but FanTaSy is no scrub, and definitely not inconsistent. He just chooses to hyuk himself every now and then when trying cute stuff. Grant him, however, that he has grown a lot as a player, and this is a well deserved accomplishment.
