The AfreecaTV and KCM LAN party in Thailand was a huge hit at our school! Holy moly. Look at how many kids showed up! And the cast by Mr. Kim, Mr. Jeon, and Mr. Park was absolutely amazing! It didn’t matter that they couldn’t understand a lick of what you said, my students could really see that you cared for them! Thank you for going the extra mile to make them feel welcome and valued. They had the biggest smiles whenever you called out their names. The casters and Lemmata truly understood that this event would be a special experience for the kids, and now a small part of their childhood is the same as ours. They were so happy today.
Yo TL, y'all made some children in Thailand really happy today. I’ll always remember reading through your comments and realizing that they all said the same thing. You were just happy to see kids getting the chance to play StarCraft with their friends, and you knew the impact it could have on them. You were happy to see others enjoy what you once enjoyed; it’s what StarCraft is about. Thanks for coming together and constantly reminding us of this. KCM and Afreeca heard you and made sure the students had a hell of a time! Lemmata also told me that TL is covering the pizzas. The pizzas were the highlight of the day, the children killed them like ravenous wolves. Just watch the video =)
Thanks TL <3
Special thanks to Lemmata. He is the one who put all this together and made it happen. In just five days. It was his idea and he simply did it from the goodness of his heart. He does not work for AfreecaTV or KCM, he is simply a StarCraft fan who wanted to share his love of the game with some students in Thailand. I don’t think the kids really understand what this took and what you did for them. But I am sure that they will remember today, and it will be because of you.
This was just a fantastic event altogether. Great success and imo, what Starcraft is all about. Even more amazing with all that stuff that Afreeca provided.
Lemmata did a hell of an amazing job too putting it altogether and donating a lot of funds to it, much more than a lot of folks realize. TL did help fund the food, aka pizza.
i know the blizzard apm counter can be flawed at times, but a 11 year old kid with 250 apm wtf?
haha I noticed that too during the live broadcast. It's likely he was just spamming the build interceptor button or something lol. On average, seemed like they were all under 100.
Yay! A little while ago my university gaming society had a lan event with many games but no SC(1 or 2)! I'm slowly introducing friends to BW and hopefully next year there will be enough players for us to have a tournament of our own. This was really inspiring. Thanks for showing that people (particularly the younger generation) can still get into brood war!
Hey TL!!!! I have more super great news!!!!!!!!!!!! One of the SC:R Producers contacted me on TL about our story! They want to do something for the students! Thank you Blizzard!!!!!!!!!
I hope it is alright to share what he wrote, we all did this together!
Howdy sir,
I am one of the SCR Producers in Classic Games at Blizzard.
We found your story absolutely awesome and as a part of a community driven team, this is exactly what we aim for when releasing a game or patch.
Being in charge of the Localization of the game for all our supported languages, I feel I have to do something for you here.
May I ask the school address and the number of kids you are in charge of so we can try to get them a little something ?

That was actually cool. It was like revisiting the discovery of key spamming.

So...would it be crazy for me to hope that Blizzard will mention this in their SC20 anniversary stream? I didn't see it on today's stream, but there's still tomorrow.
I know, I know...our community is toxic and a lot of us are truly horribly annoying people. But we are getting better! Did anyone notice that we magically avoided arguing over which other kids deserved this more than these kids? Hehe.
All joking aside, I am thrilled to hear that Blizzard wants to help... I talked to Golgotha about wanting to see the kids play a show match at Blizzcon 2018. LOL. Is that too much? What do you guys think?
I still can't believe a big company like Blizzard took the time to reach out to a small village school in Northern Thailand. Look at what they sent, it's like a StarCraft themed Christmas! T-shirts, toys, posters, and even a signed copy of the game. The entire SC:R dev team and some folks from SC2 even signed StarCraft memorabilia to support the kids! I will post pictures again when the teachers hand out the gifts to the students. Unless I decide to keep it all for myself.
One of the SC:R producers, Mr. Bohin, went through a great deal to put all this together and made sure of the delivery. It was his idea to support the students in this way, and it says a lot about how they care about the community. It's a small team, but I am glad they are at the helm of Brood War.
edit: Super Archon ball. How fitting. That's what we should call the new recall bug.
You are more than welcome Golgotha. Seeing the future generation learning from a game we made is exactly one of the reasons why I am coming at work every day. Of course the entertainment part is awesome, but you added to it an educational side, and that is better than anything we could have expected while remastering SC.
Keep up the good work

ps: I told you "Mr.Bohin" is my father . I feel old now.

You did a good thing. This is pretty awesome for the kids. You have an entire school of Blizzard fans now.
