Unindented players play in the Round of 36. Indented players are seeded into the winner's matches of the Round of 36 from the previous OSL (#5-16), except for Calm, who won the wildcard tournament and is thus seeded directly into the winner's match. Doubly-indented players are seeded into the Round of 16 from the previous OSL (#1-4).

No Light, no Really, no JangBi, no BeSt, no Midas, and no ACE players at all. There are a lot of big names that failed to make Ro36. I hope that some of the more entertaining players make it far. In writing this I realised that the best zerg to not make it is RorO and then s2/n.Die_soO. Strong start for the swarm. + Show Spoiler +
great matches in potential !! SEA VS VIOLET ACTION VS MIND FORGG VS CALM BABY VS KAL HIYA VS SNOW GREAT VS LETA STATS VS ZERO SHINE VS BISU the other matches may generate high quality but those are the games that face 2 close players in their respective matches
B: I'm predicting Action to take this unless Mind decides to play to his full potential and crush both these zergs. Alternately, hero could beat Mind and outmicro Action to death. Wait, hero can't micro. Nevermind, Action.
C: Tyson's actually pretty damn good, one of the new players I have the most respect for. ForGG is still ForGG though. This one's a bit too close to call, but whichever one makes it through will stomp Clam. I'm saying fOrGG by virtue of experience.
D: Skyhigh is amazing vs T and pretty meh vs everyone else. Modesty sucks, though. It's kind of irrelevant whomever wins this, though, because Pure is just so much better than either of them, plus he has a tendency to go incredibly deep in the OSL. Pure.
E: Lol, poor MisO. Baby should win vs. MisO, but has he recovered from his slump enough to beat Kal? Baby's playing a lot more like the old Baby recently - still some mistakes in his play, and he still dies to early cheese way too much, but he's regaining the spark he had last season. Meh... I think Kal's overrated. Baby, don't prove me wrong.
F: F is for Fantasy, and F is also for Fail, as in, what the players facing Fantasy are going to do. Free pass to the Ro16 IMO for Fantasy.
G: Group of deathhhhhh. Tough to call. If Snow beats a red-hot Soulkey somehow, Hiya's done. If Soulkey beats snow, Hiya's probably still done. Not much hope for Magikarp here. I'm calling SoulKey.
H: Leta is playing like crap, great always plays like crap, and Paralyze is... who the hell is Paralyze? The anti-group of death, Leta's probably got the most skill out of these three, but he slumping so harddddd. Paralyze, because it would be really entertaining to see this guy make it to the Ro16 before even playing a Proleague game. Plus, he's got Bisu and Best as mentors, that counts for something.
I: Barring a Hyuk-ing, it will probably be CuteAngel.
J: Tempest is bad, Hydra's ok, but I'm predicting the Kwanroll. Kwanro.
K: As much as I really really want Chintoss to win, I don't know if he's good enough to beat ZerO in his worst matchup vs. ZerO's best matchup. Ah well, go with my gut. Stats, but don't be surprised if it's ZerO.
L: Poor, poor Shine, getting seeded into Bisu's group. Nobody cares about that other guy in this group. Bisu, with style.

Tyson's actually not new at all... he's been around for a while now and has been constantly alternating between "promising" and "bad" for his entire career.
Just look at the games where he beat Jaedong 2-1 (spoiler: he played brilliantly) and then look at his Bigfile MSL game against Jaedong (spoiler: it was absolutely pathetic). Tyson defines inconsistency.

People probably don't recognize him because he used to go by Han. He's been around for like 3 years and has been terrible, much like most of MBCGame's second string players.
But hey, legend of the fall and all that jazz, even perfectman is getting wins.

Well, looks like he's in the middle of a "promising" swing. He's beat ForGG, should beat Clam pretty easily.
Damn this is gonna be one sick osl, jaedong's gonna try to clear up his name and finally beat flash and make an argument that he's the best Zerg player to ever play BW, and finally prove that he can beat flash. Of course we also got the ultimate weapon, flashwho is also gonna try to make a statement saying that he is very best BW player to ever live. If flash wins this tourney, he will have 7 major tourney victories (osl, msl, wcg), more major tourney wins that anyone who has ever played BW. History could very well be made in one of the last OSL tournies.

I would laugh at and punch anyone who denied that Jaedong was the best zerg of all time. That being said he desperately needs a victory over FlaSh if he is going to contend with him for title of best player ever.
OMFG 30 seconds to mars! Didnt notice since sometimes streamers play kpop until the countdown to the game begins. Hope they use more 30stm in this season's intros.
Paralyze will be this season's ROYAL ROADER, regardless of the fact that Flash is in his group. You cannot beat the Afrotoss! I believe... my life for Aiur ~ >_<
stork should make it out of his group pretty easily, might stumble upon sea but it shouldnt be that big of a problem. im always rooting for him. on another note, i would love to see hiya make it to the finals for once.
Hydra and Modesty gonna have one hell of a time advancing in a group with two Z snipers. Shine might be able to all-in a victory over Stork, but I think Stork has Mind/Sea's numbers. Afro and Kal gonna take out Flash and that leaves the Dong and Hogil advancing. Hiya is slumping something fierce (Jangbi-style) and Calm is still coming out of his slump. Hogil actually looked decent the other day, but he's always seemed best vP so it's hard to say if he'll capitalize. After seeing that series vs Zero, I think he can take Calm out, though.
Stork cannot lose to Mind, so that's one win. Although he beat Sea 2-0 in the Ro8 last time, Sea is looking good right now and has beaten Stork before. But I think think Stork can win. Shine will present the biggest challenge, but Stork's PvZ is also looking good. Stork 3-0?
I think group with Stork, Sea, Shine and Mind is a group of death. Shine is on a massive winning streak, Sea is very good in TvP, Stork... well.. needs no introduction. Mind can be a bit weaker, but still this is the most uncertain and promising equal fights group among all. I think Stork must apply all efforts or he's risking not to exit the group, as Shine's ZvP and Sea's TvP is not something to f$#@ with.
On what map Afrotoss will play with Flash? It seems to me that if Hyuk is most likely autowin for our macro terran, with Protosses he might have a harder time.
Can someone make a banner that looks somewhat professional? That one was funny maybe the first time I saw it, now it just conveys an aura of desperation that is just kind of sad.

1. Flamewheel's banner is awesome no matter what you say
Flash lost, fantasy lost... obviously, kal vs flash, kal played amazing. however, dont give all credit to kal and modesty, these maps are EXTREMELY (says the man in all caps) terran disadvantages.
The intro to the ro16 is one of the coolest I've seen so far - especially since Reach makes a split-second appearance. Although there isn't a separate youtube video as far as I can see for it yet, you can check it out on nevake or on Nuke's videos.

Flash-Paralyze will either be really close or really one-sided. Really close if Paralyze does draw his BeSt card (Paralyze says his best matchup is PvT, just like a certain other SKT protoss who beat Flash earlier in the season), i.e. the one Paralyze pulled against Leta. Really one-sided if he doesn't.

Maybe Stork can put on an afro and play that day.
Haven't we already established that afrotoss is actually BeSt/Bisu playing their respective best MUs disguised by the afro and glasses?

Explains why he lost so badly to hyuk....BB didn't wanna team kill.
I want Flash and Jaedong to get out of their respective group : it would lessen Stork's final victory if they didn't :D
But seriously I don't know, i've got this feeling we're going to see something weird. Out of Fantasy, Flash and Jaedong, 3 PL beast (and 2 starleague legend), i feel one or more won't pass (well ok, saying Fantasy will fail is kind of an oxymoron). So i'll say it here : i expect that either Flash or Jaedong will be eliminated early. And according to the groups...let's go crazy and pick Flash to get out, since JD zvz still is (kinda) godlike.
OP threw me off for a second. Has Shine bolded vs. Mind, showing a 3-0 of his group. The actual numbers above the names show his correct record, though.

Good point. Although they could use a bit more balancing.
Hogil and Sea are both out. It would be quite the upset if neither Jaedong nor Flash made it. I'd say that the odds are against Flash but better than even for Jaedong.
Jaedong's chance for regame rests on a ZvZ. And though I'd never expect Hogil to beat Jaedong, I though the same thing about Flash and about JD vs Hiya. JD must be pretty pissed.

Yep, it seems to me like Hiya is doing everything possible to screw over both his team and JD simultaneously. It's reeeally starting to grate on the nerves.

u cant watch 1 game between 2 teammates and judge flash lost to hyuk.. and ssaak and classic and kal all three matchups i do expect jaedong to take this since hogil's zvz isnt something to be proud but he has his moments + its zvz but jaedong doesnt fuck up in moments like this usually i mean
i dont care who wins as long as its not hiya !! i hope he loses every single starleague game
-Stork- well, one of the best protoss since 2008. Plus, he's from Khan. If he win, i will not rage at all. -Shine- if he win, the only good thing in this will be rage in TL. Thats, however, a price worthy to pay. -Kal- I know that many STX fans dont like SKT, but I cannot blame Kal for this. Long "great absent" in finals, gold or silver would be deserved. -Modesty- like that guy, hate his play. I dont know why. I think he overperformed this OSL. -Fantasy- the most entertaining player from SKT, still without gold. Championship would be well deserved as well and good summary of his contribution to terran play. -Hyuk- I love this guy. I know he doesn't deserve the championship, but if he will win, i will not be mad ^^ -Mind- hurr, hurr, hurr...after so bad slump in last year he would be really lucky if gets to final. -Hiya- he's funny. If he is gonna win this, i will not be mad. Even if i'm not confident about his form. -Calm- hell no! Brain Zerg is a smart player, but i wouldnt put him over any of my favorites. He performs good in individual Leagues, but i always have impression that he overperformes. But semi would be fair IMO.

To be honest, I don't think there's ever been a starleague champion who didn't deserve it. All of them overcame their weak MUs to get to the finals and beat the strongest players. Even Sync had to take out Boxer to win his unlikely OSL.
I think this will actually be a very interesting OSL now that both Flash and Jaedong are out.
I actually think Shine will go pretty far in this OSL provided that he passes through the tie-breakers. Fantasy just might win this if he doesn't lose to Stork.

I generally agree with this, but I think Casy played only vT and vZ during his OSL run.

I also think July in EVER 2008 didn't have to play any terrans in elimination rounds. He playe Mind/Frozean in Ro32, was in a 4-zerg group in Ro16, and beat Rock, Backho, and Best to win. lawl.
Looks like Kal or Fantasy winning. Kal is a beast but just can't consistently go toe to toe with JD and Flash. Anyone else and he is basically favored. Only threat to him is Fantasy. Both really deserve a title
Normally I would say fantasy is the clear lock to win this but he hasn't been himself lately, at least in proleague. So I am gonna have to say Kal is finally gonna take his first starleague
Wow. I am looking forward to this OSL. It was getting boring watching JD and Flash be the only ones capable of winning a title. With that said, I would like a Protoss champion, but I would LOVE to see Fantasy win it all.
A seriously big 5 days coming up for Shine where he has to show his worth. Two proleague matches, OSL tiebreakers and MSL group matches. This is where Shine will make or break himself.
Tiebreak is tomorrow (26th December) at 19:00 KST (1000 GMT, 0500 EST, 0200 PST) AFAIK.

Hmm I guess I will tune in at 7pm in case it starts early. But if it's really 9pm or worse 9.40pm, then it could be really bad for Stork because he has a match on the 27th.
I am so pleased that JD and Flash are both out. Obviously Shine, Stork, and Fantasy are the favourites to win it now, but do not underestimate Calm. In the past 4 seasons, he has 3 OSL/MSL semi-final appearances, including one gold. Besides JD and Flash, that is the best individual league performance in the past 4 seasons. No one else has 3 semi appearances. Fantasy, free, and Kal only have a pair.
My point is that he performs well in individual leagues. As much as I want Stork to win, I could see Calm beating both Stork and Fantasy. ZvZ means he could of course beat Shine as well.
My picks for top 4 most likely to win: 1. Shine 2. Stork 3. Calm 4. Fantasy
No offense to Kal, who I like very much, but I cannot see his PvZ beating either Shine or Calm. Reaver Corsair is far to failure-prone to succeed in a Bo3 or Bo5. If Kal can somehow avoid either of those two and win the OSL, well then he's a major contender. Stork would be romped by him, unfortunately.
On December 26 2010 00:58 Crisium wrote: My picks for top 4 most likely to win: 1. Shine 2. Stork 3. Calm 4. Fantasy
I want to belive Stork and Fantasy will perform well, but i've got a bad feeling with the Zergs out there. I'm gona pray the BW gods for Shine to be kicked out, and then Stork would have a solid chance to win this So i agree with Crisium. Hopefull Stork and Mind will take care of Shine.
Calm is not favorite against Fantasy, he can win in Bo3, but his chances are obviously lower in Bo5. Calm proved to be really vulnarable against terran players, who change the style of playing many times. Imho its like this:
Now I just want mind to beat stork to break all the stork fans hearts who are saying that stork is now favorite to win. He's not even in the Ro8 yet guys!

Ugh, teamkill. There's nothing good about them. I'm actually gonna root for Hyuk over Fantasy though, Fantasy has been pissing me off by dragging SKT down.
Hyuk < Fantasy No matter how weird team-kill games are, Hyuk's ZvT is horrifyingly bad. He got 2-0'd by fantasy in Bigfile. It could be an upset, but not likely.
Calm > Mind Calm is looking more in form than at the start of the season, and Mind is as shaky as ever Overall, however, Calm's ZvT isn't as capable as Mind's TvZ, so this one is tough to call. Wait. Mind's recent TvZ has scored wins over Shine! (teamkill), Saint! (sucks), Action! (sucked), hero! (sucks)... he can't even beat Soo and he lost to Calm just days ago. I have to go Calm just based on sheer momentum.
Kal > Modesty While Kal is a seasoned S-Class tester, and Modesty is an upstart rookie with a decent win streak, the teamkill situation doesn't allow us to call it there. On top of that, Kal's PvZ hasn't looked spectacularly stable recently. But Modesty has proven incapable of beating any protoss not named Pure or Best (who don't particularly have good PvZ). I'm going to call Kal, but this matchup has a decent chance of an upset.
Stork > Hiya I remember this one time Hiya beat a protoss at TvP... wait, that was Jangbi. But he also beat... wait, that was Reach. Yep, Hiya hasn't won a TvP since August, and before that June. I don't see any chance for him against Stork.
Fantasy > Calm Calm's ZvT is shaky, and Fantasy's just been faltering overall. This is going to be a very weird game. Then again, Calm-Fantasy contests always are. I'm going to throw logic out of the window and say Fantasy somehow recovers his brilliance for this one match and dominates Calm in a very one-sided game.
Stork > Kal Kal's PvP isn't the strongest, while Stork is just rolling lately. Based on both matchup statistics and momentum, Stork should take this game.
Stork > Fantasy A terran who's very good at TvP and a protoss who's very good at PvT. Stork's just been stronger lately, and there's no two ways about it. Fantasy hasn't beaten an in-form protoss for a while now.
Agree with all of your predictions infinitestory, except the Stork > Kal.
While Stork has been hot and has great PvP sense, Kal's been impressive as well and his PvP is too NB. Its really beast. That leaves Fantasy and Kal in the final, and as you said, Fantasy has been playing like garbage...

I'd rather see Calm vs Stork. While that gives Stork less of a chance to win... that's exactly what I want. Not that I am rooting against Stork or anything; I want Stork to be bonjwa. It's just that, regrettably, Fantasy would lose to Stork without much struggle. I think Fantasy would win a game due to Vulture harass, but Stork would take it 3-1. Calm vs Stork would go to 5 games, regardless of who wins.
Of course I'm getting ahead of myself. I don't exactly want to root against Fantasy in his Ro4 match either. I'll root for Fantasy when I see Mech or at least Bio Mech. None of this SK Terran or SK Terran + Tanks nonsense. It is unsuitable to Fantasy. If he goes MnM I will root for Calm.

No one has ever taken dual silvers except when playing the same opponent in both finals and by being zerg. Neither scenario is possible. But if Stork gets dual silvers I will have mass quantities of fury because this is the best chance for a title he's ever gonna have.
Ok, so as we see, groups of Ro16 are ranked as follows:
4) Group A aka Chobo Bunch aka EZPZ Group (Hyuk, Kal, Afrotoss and a skilless terran whose name I actually forgot)- winners didnt even left the Ro8
3) Group B aka We Dont Suck As Much As Group A (Calm, Hiya, Hogil and JD)- 1 semifinalist, not as bad overall, taking overall low skill of the players to consideration.
2) Group C aka WTH IS THIS HELL (Stork, Shine, Sea, Mind)- here was hell fun , 1 semifinalist with possibility of taking final and he was not even sure if he's gonna leave.
1) Group D aka Group of Death aka Dream Team (Fantasy, Hydra, Free, Modesty)- the hardest one, 1 finalist with possibility of taking gold and one semifinalist with possibility of taking final + free + zerg wonderkid. All that didnt leave a group just wondered, why they werent together with noobs from A and B and blame KESPA for bad format of the tournament.

Wow things are really shaping up for stork to take BOTH leagues. I honestly wouldn't have thought this possible for anyone after flash did it... This is really amazing. GO SILVER MINER GO!
Look up Nukethestars on youtube. He did a great cast of them. Or yoy can dl the torrent off of teamliquid. Absolutely great play from Fantasy. Great tourney for Stork too though. Fantasy just seriously brought it in the finals. Kal will win someday. Sighhh.
