The long-awaited 7th BJStarleague is going to start. Two weeks of preparation. I've adjusted my condition (for this) Because I can't get tired in the middle, I've prepared guest commentators (Ki Deuk Shin). So far I have one person ready to go. If this can work, it could result in some fun commentaries. Preparing the right opening music for the 7th BJ Starleague. (Preparing the) opening video. (Preparing) to welcome the viewers who will attend the offline. And (preparing) even the graphics. All the preparation is done. Awesome games from the players. And from Sonic.^^; Please cheer a lot. People's mentality (towards SC1). Even though it seems hopeless I will continue to endure the challenge. In the PCBangs, there's nobody playing Star1. There's no new players who want to play Star1. To my viewers of my broadcast watching now, if you want to keep watching Starleague. Cheer more. I think if you really watch with manners you will create a better image (for Starcraft) LET'S GO !!!!!!!!!!!!! -Sonic
Welcome to the resurrection of Korean Brood War. This is the 7th Starleague hosted by Sonic, a popular Afreeca BJ (Broadcast Jockey). Featuring a 7mil Won prize pool, this Starleague will feature 32 of the best players Fish/Afreeca has to offer.
The Round of 32 is played online, with eight groups of four, each group split over two days. The format is the Dual Tournament format, a small double elimination type of format. To advance, a player needs to grab two set victories (by 2-0 or 2-1, or 3-x) before he gets two set losses (by 0-2 or 1-2, or x-3). The first two sets, Winners and Losers sets are Bo3, while the Final set is Bo5. Day 1 will feature the first two sets along with the Winners and Losers sets. Day 2 will feature the Final sets, and determine who is the last one of each group to advance.
Following suit, the Round of 16, four groups of four, is also played in the Dual Tournament format, but this time concentrated within one day, and all sets being Bo3. Here, the offline portion of the SSL comes into play, at Sinbal Farm (Sonic's company office), complete with a live video feed and Juice Girls. Two from each group advance.
Now that the group stages are finished, the elimination bracket of the tournament begins. The Round of 8 and Round of 4 are played in a Bo5 format, and offline at Sinbal farm. The match-ups are determined randomly at every stage of the tournament.
At the end of it all, the Grand Final and Bronze Match is held at a special offline venue, played as a Bo7 and Bo3 respectively.

Minor update: "The 1st/2nd/Winners/Losers matches will be Bo3. The Final match will be Bo5". A detail I managed to miss the first time. Tonight will be the 1st/2nd/Winners/Losers matches, and hopefully we'll be able to record the reruns later tomorrow.

Can somebody with knowledge of Korean ask when the maps will be available in one of the SSJ threads on Afreeca or W/E
A beta version of Pamir Plateau is available, it was posted in the map thread. The rest are not available for download yet. So far, the only new map to be played in SSL is Wind and Cloud, which won't be until the Ro16. Wind and Cloud will definitely be released before the Ro16 starts
The rest will be used/released in time .. just be patient

Lol that one single game that blew every single ProLeague games from 1/2 years out of the water.
Honestly I don't need ProLeague or OGN to keep up my interest in the game. As long as there are S.Korean guys doing insane multitasks and mechanically superhuman execution, hell that will be enough to keep me entertained.
Not to mention that foreigners in the Smurf tour were exhibiting some extreme high level plays themselves. So fuck Kespa for taking Blizzard's bribe and praise the community for keeping the dream alive.
from jchoi in bgvrt's chat it had to do with zelot not streaming which is part of the rules of the tourney; I think it was mentioned zelot may have been caught maphacking once in the past. Sonic is strict to everyone in the tournament that they have to stream their play in the rules anyways but he is probably especially strict to zelot for that reason (and sonic's stream chat talking about it).
zelot said if pusan thinks he looked at pusan's stream/did something else he would replay. and I guess pusan did decide to replay, and zelot was given a 1:0 advantage I guess for winning the first part. Mong may have said something about it too after he played zelot and watched the replay.
I don't think it was the players pusan and mong saying anything though; I think it was sonic's stream chat and the rules of the tournament say they have to stream.
I don't speak korean so this can be entirely wrong and I'm just writing what I remember from bgvrt stream chat. Plus I don't know the rules of the tournament
The controversy was mostly to do with Minus)ZeLoT who wasn't streaming his games against Pusan and Mong. Apparently there is a least one player in the tournament who has a history of maphacking and it seems there is a rule that requires players to stream their games to Afreeca as a way of trying to make sure they aren't cheating.
ZeLoT seemed pretty unhappy about the whole thing so Pusan gave him a 1 game advantage when they re-played the series but ZeLoT's hydra busts weren't as effective the second time around and Pusan won 2-1 after starting 0-1.

I have edited the second post on the thread to contain all the results and links to VODs. I'm not sure of the map order, so I will provide that in time ..
I will be out for a few hours. During that time, I will leave my stream on restreaming the broadcast. Quality isn't too good due to my low upload rate, but .. it works I guess. Also, my computer may or may not crash while I'm away, so sorry if it does D:
On September 17 2012 08:24 Stratos wrote: Do we know the specific time of the next broadcast? If someone does, could you add the event to the calendar? Or share the info here? Thanks!
The thing with Sonic is that he never really gives a "specific" broadcasting time until the day of. So it's hard to put the live cast on the calender .. generally it tends to be 9PM KST. Maybe we'll put that as the tentative time until further notice.
I'm sure what'll be much easier to coordinate onto the calender are rebroadcasts w/ english commentary. There ARE VODs available now, and hopefully for the rest too.
Is Sexy the Terran, Neo.G_SexyBoy ? Also why is there so many unknown protoss and 1 unknown terran? Are they surprise players or players not known yet?
wow Kau, thanks a lot!! Though, I'm sorry to say that the linking of the VODs wasn't as necessary, the FPVODs are a huge addition
I've went ahead and fulfilled your requests .. I've got these on YOUTUBE!! Unfortunately, I am missing Pusan vs ZeLoT game 1, but its ok .. it was just a hydra bust anyways lol
I used the twitchtv to youtube direct upload feature .. but for some reason it only uploads the first two hours of the broadcast (and it so happens this last one was 4+ lol). So I had to use a combination of my rebroadcast and Bgvrt's .. many thanks to bgvrt about that.
Does anyone know the technicalities of this? because if it only does the first 2 hours it could be really problematic .. I guess for now, I would request streamers to break the broadcast within 2 hours so that way it'll eliminate the possibilty of missing games. Unless there is a solution, and if so, please tell me so!!
Sorry for buffers and such .. my internet is not so good ): but oh well

And since Sonic is aware of our community, we should try to get in touch with him and ask him to upload the VODs in best quality on youtube. Even though our restreamers are pretty awesome, there's still some occasional buffering.

Guys, I think it would be cool to start making a separate threads in BW Tournaments for each group. It could serve as a Live Report thread like it was in OSL/MSL days ^^
Also it gives those talented people a chance to whip up some cool banners and give more hype to the league.

and gentlemen, we are being acknowledged. Sonic not only links to this thread, but to Gambit Cup, 2013 Euro Winter LAN, DRIT4 (mentions C ranks too) and Defiler Tours. Quite frankly, makes me pretty happy
This is pretty awesome!
And since Sonic is aware of our community, we should try to get in touch with him and ask him to upload the VODs in best quality on youtube. Even though our restreamers are pretty awesome, there's still some occasional buffering.
that would be sick indeed
And then Sayle needs to cast them. That would be too awesome.

average speed wise koreans have the fastest internet in the world. its a country about half the size of california. they probably have a countrywide fiber optics network..
ya Sonic was originally known as a gag-strat streamer .. so fuckin funny xD
I don't think I'll be uploading VODs today .. I'm really exhausted from today lol sorry ):
But, some good news!
On stream, apparently Sonic had talked about streaming on Twitch.TV for the foreigner viewers, and that VODs will be coming from him 99% .. though I'm not sure when, it's nice to hear that we'll have a direct stream and VODs from the man himself
Also .. Sonic was VERY interested in sending a few players over to the Euro Winter LAN 2013, if they are allowed (Sonic would pay for plane tickets and all lol)
Also korean chatters repeatedly saying that Terror goes by s6e9x now .. lol xD
Sonic just posted what was basically a call to arms for people to help grow the Korean/SOSPA scene, asking for ppl to host tournaments for the amateurs (to scout talent) without him being involved (because he is tired and busy) .. let us grow the scene once more guys. Not the end, but a new beginning. I have high hopes for both the Korean and Foreigner scenes
On September 18 2012 14:53 endy wrote: Are VODs on Twitch.tv kept forever ? If not, would it be possible to upload them to Youtube ?
The broadcaster has to mark them somehow, and also to prevent them from being cutoff to 2 hours after a month or whatever it is. But I think it would be a good idea to upload to youtube.
Casters can also use local recordings to split up the games that way.

Wow Killer dude.. Killer.. that guy will outperform everybody.. He is like mashine. And he was like.. omg im so bored what im doing in this newb group/tour... so easy..
He didn played good in last batch of games when he was pro. They called him minidong becoz it was in same team with jaedong, not becouse ohe got superb skills pretty much.

Okay thanks. I'm asking because I'll start working on the Liquipedia page of this Starleague soon, and I'd like to find a reliable source of VODs.
Looks like I can't find anything anymore for SonicTV 6th Starleague
Thank you for doing this! I wish you could provide the updated threads, or mix in the video the ID of the players. It is hard for me to follow who's playing who, especially when I use IOS apps.

bgvrt didn't stream any of that league if I recall correctly and I missed the semi-finals and the final because I was away on holiday. Unless there was a Korean recording it I think those matches are gone forever.
i cant wait for group c guaranteed EPIC ZvT matches between cola and hiya. also probably expecting some kind of weird cheese/all in from headsetzerg XD
Hey ArvickHeroe (or anyone capable for that matters), if it is not too much work and if it is not too hassle to research. Would you please post up some of the 'unknown' players' faces beside their I.D. To facilitate our familiarity with them.

Sorry for taking so long to update .. yesterday was a hell of a busy day for me. Keep an eye on the second post of the thread, that's where I'll be compiling results and VODs. And the youtube videos should have player information in the descriptions so that should make things easier

I would prefer if someone else would do this. I honestly am not familiar with the amateur scene as I had only gotten into this stuff about a month or so ago.

If I understand the system (and your question) correctly, these final matches will be played on another day (9/27).
I think we could make a new account for Sonic's stream and just set up the stream and then attach it to the event for him. I don't know if TL would be okay with that or if there's a better solution (or if Sonic wants to do this himself o.o).

ideally yes, but the super stretched aspect ratio of his twitch stream makes it hard to watch :/ plus, minus)eagle has the advantage of building up a solid twitch.tv following, as opposed to Sonic who has barely made his account today
I at the very least have it on in another tab, and I think that should be done at the least.

Having FPViews is absolutely amazing. It's something that those of us who never had a chance to watch the proleague live missed out on, so it's so cool to have it now.
Well I had Eagle's fpvs downloaded and just finished uploading the games TT Someone should ask him if he has any plans of his own (like making own yt acc and uploading it there, I could help with that.. or only making vods accessible for afreeca viewers if he's making any money from that). I don't know if there's any potential for money gain from uploading these fpvs to yt, dunno tho, if so I'd naturally be glad to hand him over rights to the acc so he can profit.

Sina is the Chinese equivalence of Afreeca or Twitch TV. Usually a BW stream will get 1K + there which itself is a good number and I think they have sponsors for ads as well.
So you can get revenue from 3 difference sources, Twitch, Sina, and Afreeca.
If everyone just tunes in simultaneously of course.
Many, many many thanks to Kau for organizing the FPVODs
Some of the edits are STILL processing (From like 2 hours ago wtf lol) and the last game is taking its sweet time to process and is unavailbe to watch atm .. but the link is still there. Anyways, I was going to wait until these things were done, but I need to sleep now so fuck it I'm just posting them now
Not sure if I will be waking up for Group E tonight. And, if Sonic streams tonight on Twitch (unsure if he will), please show your support of him and tune into his channel! Tonight's games should be good
http://twitch.tv/bgvrtb streamed some fpvs and he's restreaming rerun of sonic's cast (I believe) atm, so vods might be available later if someone uploads it/if you make your way to his archives.
super thanks !!! :D A huuuuuge thanks to Bgvrtb, thanks to him I got these VODs up a lot earlier than anticipated. Check out his channel twitch.tv/bgvrtb
I've also now included the available live report threads in the results section. Huge thanks to those (Blind-RawR, Nikon and Golondrin) who take their time to create/update these threads
I think SSL is deserving of some better graphics tho hmm .. wish I knew how to photoshop -_-'''
I actually have no idea. Someone who speaks Korean should try to get in touch with him and see what's the deal. I think he had some lagg issues with dual streaming or something :/
Apparently, Sonic said on the last stream that he's BEEN doing dual stream .. I think he's been mistaken .. maybe he just assumes if he leaves it on it stays on forever lol.
Ugh I don't think I'll be awake for today's games lol I'm soooo sleepy .. Hopefully tonight's the night Sonic figures it out and turns on his twitchtv account If not, well bgvrt is pretty reliable .. thanks in advance to whoever makes the LR thread
Sonic still thinks he's been dual streaming lol, he even made poor Chamchi (Yesterday's co-caster, chamchi = tuna wtf lol) try to speak english in Larva vs Perry game 2

I will not be able to be at my computer tonight setting up streams like yesterday. However I will try to leave them on with select POVs. Terror got banned from Afreeca for doing bad stuff. Not sure if it's perm or not lol
Also sonic is focusing purely on this SSL atm to make it awesome. PL preparations are not done yet aynways lol .. we should see a more balanced sched after this SSL
It was fun watching this this morning! I had to rerecord w/ my own stream later though since bgvrtb was doing some funky triple stream thing, so I apologize if the quality seems lower and buffers are more frequent.
Again, many thanks to Golondrin for making the LR, and to bgvrtb for streaming the main broadcast, and for all those who watched and chatted and posted in the LR

Quick question for those of you who know how Youtube works .. is there any way I can control the "Related Videos" on the side? I'm kinda annoyed at how related video on the side is always either something completely unrelated, or an SSL VOD that's not from the same group at all.

You can link videos together in a playlist, as response videos, or just link to it in the description. I think the related videos just shows what videos have the same tag or what people who watch the video also watch.

hmm well I already make a playlist for every group ~_~
I make a shitload of similar tags per video too, so I wonder if I should either be putting in more tags or maybe that doesn't matter taht much lol
It seems like groups A-F are fine in that category, but Groups G and H are still having weird related videos and Groups not-G-or-H. I guess it's a matter of time ..?

my bad, shouldve fixed by now
Also, fixed the playlist links too. I thought that you just had to link the first video from the playlist and that works, but I guess it doesn't work like that .. so I'm just directly linking it to the playlist lol Actually it seems like making a direct link to the first game instead of embedding it works a lot better

Don't worry about Related Videos too much. That's just how they work when you upload a new video, they will show the weirdest videos ever there. But once your videos gain some views Related Videos tab will change as well to more relevant videos.
Some bad news .. Since Terror was banned from Afreeca, he has been DQ'd from the tournament. With no Afreeca, he can't do a stream which is a rule of the SSL. Ondol will be taking his place in the final match. Sorry :/
Anyways, I just submitted it, but it may take some time to show up .. tonight is the Group A/B Final match! Sonic didn't specify a time, but I'm just going to assume its 9pm or 21:00KST because that's when he always does it lol.
Can Mong get his revenge from what he suspected was a stream-cheating Minus)ZeLoT, or will Minus)ZeLoT prove that his 2-0 over Mong was no simple fluke? Between Beast and Perfectman, which of these two ex-Oz players can prove themselves superior?

OK guys, this took a while (partly because of school ~_~) but its finally up. Youtube VODs!
NOTE: Mong had friends over while he was playing. The possibility of stream cheating through them could not be ruled out, so a regame of the series was called.
Mong vs Minus)ZeLoT was really good, especially game 1 was pretty intense. After all of this, I would give Minus)ZeLoT a new nickname + Show Spoiler +
Regame Zerg hahah, the guys played like .. 17 games in the Ro32?
Now, SSL is going on break for 6 days due to Korean Thanksgiving .. so that's the perfect opportunity to catch up on VODs! If you haven't seen some of these games yet, check them out! Lotsofgreatgames, some interestingstrategies, and a smattering of hilariousBM!

Tell your friends, spread the word that Korean BW is alive and kicking .. All of the VODs are here in this Youtube channel .. enjoy!!
Oh yea, if anyone would like to keep the 7th SonicTV Starleague Liquipedia page up to date, please do so .. it'd be very appreciated
And if anyone is good w/ photoshop and is willing to give some time, a new sexier banner for the 7th SSL for the LR Threads would be nice :D Something of a similar concept to this or this, along with maybe a bit of this. Thanks in advance

The LP page is up to date with the OP. I will keep updating the page as the OP gets updated
rofl time to go to bed, yeah it'd be cool if someone could come up with something more professional/appropriate. anyway, unreal job on all the re-streaming, vods, translation, lr threads,... everything. all you guys much <3, hopefully we can keep this up in the future (5 days ).
i cant believe we might get to see something awesome like a hiya vs killer BoX series after bw has officially been called "dead". long live the ssl, long live BW!

Yes ha-ha. But not all live streams are free. I'm waching right now someone plays broodwar (such.as)rucy 1365 Terran) hahahah and there is no lag. Lol can't believed!!

Since finding this out on Tuesday, I've been waking up early and watching some streams for hours. It's taking too much of my time, haha.
Thank you so much for post 2. Some of the games lag so much they are almost unwatchable, so it's good to have the FPVODs. Zergman vs minus)mighty had blurry and constantly lagging VOD vs crystal clear and lag free FPVOD. Shame that the FPVODs sections have no anti-spoilers for the winner and loser's matches, but that can be managed by scrolling down slowly.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMMW5pWYqQs ..honestly not too happy with it, thought I'd have more time to make it better during the hiatus but I'll be too busy starting tomorrow. I don't think it deserves a thread but if anyone can think of a place to put this (op?), feel free to do so.

Sorry, I hope that kind of problem doesn't arise in the future .. but try to understand, around that time, and still even now, others and I had to deal with the buffers of a proxy, and I didn't have a consistently clear, high quality, unmarked and complete stream recording to upload from.
Oftentimes, I would only have about a 24-hour time period to record these things from Sonic's restream and sometimes I would have to resort to using my own internet, which is badly capped at only 700kb upload speed (Sonic streams at 2000kb). Compiled with having to deal with a proxy back then, low quality and buffers were something I could not avoid sometimes. Perhaps in the future when others or I have an opportunity to rerecord, or when he releases VODs to download, I'll reupload the video for a better quality but for now please bear with it.
So I guess this is also a good opportunity to ask others to also help in the VOD archiving/uploading process. Now that Afreeca has opened up to foreigners, this should be much easier to do now .. If you are willing to provide a high-quality Twitch.TV stream for me to highlight/upload complete sets of unmarked (as in no overlays) VODs from when needed, please PM! I'll talk details about it there.
and Stratos, great video, even if you're not completely happy with it I'm sure Sonic would love it, and I'll add it to the OP
"NOTE: Mong had friends over while he was playing. The possibility of stream cheating through them could not be ruled out, so a regame of the series was called."
Can that possibility really ever be ruled out? What's to stop anyone from using a second monitor or laptop to watch the opponent's stream? Is there something I'm missing?

I think the reason sonic wanted to do an offline so bad was to try and combat the allegations of stream cheating. but i mean it still doesnt help with the online events haha..

Tonight! 9PM KST, 5AM PST, 2PM CEST, etc etc .. the 7th SonicTV BJStarleague returns from break!
In Group C we have the "Iron Wall" ex-CJ Zerg, Cola! Gifted with an insanely fast pair of hands capable of going 500+ APM, he holds true to the CJ Zerg tradition of showing off a sick, standard management playstyle. Whereas, on the other side of the match, we have our resident "I'm-Not-Gay" Ex-Khan TL streamer, Minus)Eagle. Eagle hold reputation for pulling out creative strategies and special tactics.
Group C final match, we may very well see the story of "Standard vs Creative" and see who comes out on top! Although Eagle states that his PvZ is his weakest matchup, don't put it past him to think of some interesting strategies to even the playing field. And in Group D, we have the Man vs the Beast! Representing "the Man", we have ex-Khan old-timer Zerg, Zergman!! Although he had taken an extended break from SC for D3 before the SSL, he made up for lost time by belting out 350+ ladder games on Fish before the season had ended. Will his efforts pay off for this season?
Representing "the Beast", we have the giant amateur Terran, Shinee! Measuring 6+ feet in height, with a fearsome look to boot, NOBODY BMs or messes around with Shinee. With a monstrous TvZ to boot, one could say that "the Beast" has the upper hand here.
Who will triumph tonight? Man? Or Beast? Standard? Or Creative? Tune in tonight, 9PM KST!
i'll stream infact i will start in 1 hour or less. Finally the waiting is over. I watched zergman past few days and i can say probably he will win. Cola vs eagle, i am unfamilar with zerg player but what i saw i can say is very awesome zerg, eagle is well known p player we all know how good he is so im expecting really good good games.
A quick information about my tries to get afreeca streams running. I am located at Germany.
1. I signed up as a foreigner (with the help of starting post that was np). 2. I tried to watch some broodwarstreams (they all are between 800 and 2000k) 3. After starting streams several times, error messages and blackscreens stopped and i was able to watch the stream. The problem was that they buffer way more than they acutally run (15 second buffer, 2 second stream, .....). 4. My first attempt was around 3 pm middeleuropean time (Korean Primetime) so i tried at 11.30pm. Same problem.
5. So i talked to bgvrtb who runs an afreeca-restream channel on twich. His stream is very fluid, with not a single buffer as far as i have seen. He's aswell located in europe and said that he didnt use any tricks or special options and even has no extraordinary good internet connection. His opinion is that since the connection between afreeca and foreigners isn't p2p based, it all comes down to wether your isp harmonises with the korean servers or not.
6. I then bought myself an account on a vpn server offering site, to try wether other locations would have a better connection. I tried all european countries, Israel, United Emirates, India, Korea, Japan, China, Hongkong, Vietnam, Singapur, Malaysia. No succes. Chosing the Korean VPNserver lowered the buffertimes, but still unenjoyable.
I hope someone else finds a way which actually works.
Finally got this shit done. The audio is a little wonky, but I think it should be ok for now .. I won't be making the same mistake in the future. But right now I'm too tired to rerecord the whole thing again so please bear with this for now
http://www.livestream.com/modesty/video?clipId=pla_516de813-452f-4542-a24c-9992b4c05f77 (Cola up to 1:45:00 or so) http://www.twitch.tv/akskdsl/b/334403793 (Eagle 9:45-23:00 or so)
I would like to thank Sawamura for making the LR Thread, Modesty00 for streaming, and everyone else who watched and participated Apparently, at least several ppl have voiced some concern about the aspect ratio which I record/upload the VODs to Youtube. Sonic's stream is automatically set to 16: 9, but can be toggled to 4:3. I had simply assumed 16: 9 was the correct aspect ratio by default, but there is some argument about it.
I recorded a small test VOD where it toggles between the 16: 9 and 4:3 over a minute or so. You can view it here.
For the sake of consistency, I won't be changing the aspect ratio for the rest of the Ro32, but I'll consider it for the Ro16 and onwards. What will it be guys? 16: 9 or 4:3?
And finally, tonight is the story of the Second Chance!
In both Groups E and F, Hint and Ondol were undoubtedly the weakest of each group, and failed to net any wins each. However, by divine intervention or what not, both have been given a second chance to advance from the Ro32 that they otherwise would have not had.
It's undeniable that Sexy and KangTaeWan are the heavy favorites against their respective opponents. But, with more than a week's worth of preparation and the motivation fueled from gaining that lucky second chance, anything can happen! Tonight, 9PM KST, Groups E and F Final Match!!

I voted 16 because I'm actually fairly accustomed to playing with that aspect ratio (had a widescreen laptop for awhile), but I'm also used to *watching* games in 3:4. Either way, just wanted to say thanks again for all your work in getting this available to us. As someone who can't stream Afreeca (I'm at work when the games are on), having the games uploaded to YouTube is a godsend.
On October 05 2012 15:34 Funnytoss wrote: I voted 16 because I'm actually fairly accustomed to playing with that aspect ratio (had a widescreen laptop for awhile)
To clarify, you were probably playing with a stretched image. The 16 format used by sonic is created using a hack to expand the viewable area. The latter is desirable, the former isn't.
On September 30 2012 16:48 Stratos wrote: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMMW5pWYqQs ..honestly not too happy with it, thought I'd have more time to make it better during the hiatus but I'll be too busy starting tomorrow. omg, why are people voting 16 : 9. Upload it in the correct aspect ratio please, which is 4:3. It is obviously stretched. I know he is using resolution hack, but it is still 4:3. If people want to have stretch bw they can download the VOD and stretch it themselves. I thought it was because you didn't know how, so I've been dling them and making them 4:3 myself.
Why would you watch something in the incorrect aspect ratio... that makes no sense. Everything just looks fatter / shorter. If you're worried about your TV getting scan lines, they your TV is probably high tech enough to stetch the video for you.
I agree, Chef. I did manage to stream some of Sonic's re-broadcast of the previous group last night before being forced to stream the FP view, but I decided to stream it at 4;3. I'd rather have it at 4;3 with a kinda-weird webcam of the Sonic broadcaster than weird and stretched.
Groups E and F will def not be up by tonigh unfortunately ,sorry .. It has been incredibly frustrating trying to record some of these games. Especially KTW vs Ondol + Show Spoiler +
game 4
, it seems almost impossible to get the games w/o some lag :/
I don't think I'll be waking up in time for tonights games either .. I'm very tired lol. Tonight is the ex-KT/Flash-Pro vs the amateur who destroyed him, and an amateur vs amateur fight lol, which is rare considering how many expros there have been.
Hope there are GGs! I'll resume work on the VODs when I wake up lol

VODS This took much longer than expected, but it's finally done. VODs for Groups E, F, G and H. Trying to record all of this was .. rather stressful, due to buffering, but I got it down to a minimum sorta. Too many epic games made this hard to record lol, great series means more work for me ;P hahah
Thank you to Sawamura for making the LR threads, and to Modesty, Cedstick and bgvrtb for live streaming. Thanks to all those who watch and participate in chat and LR, it really makes it enjoyable. And of course, thank you to Epoxide for keeping Liquipedia up to date. You guys are great SOSPA PROLEAGUE Now, SSL goes on break until this Friday, but don't let that get you down .. We've got SOSPA Proleague Exhibition matches this Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday!
How the hell is this gonna work? I DUNNO :D This is what I'm guessing:
Probably similar format to before, where it's 5v5 or 6v6 Allkill format with an ACE card.
Will probably include some form of stake, last time it was 5000 Balloons (500k Won) bet match.
Most likely 9PM KST
Details will probably be announced only 8-12 hours prior to the event, so keep an eye on the calender.
Now, considering how I have school now and how time consuming SSL has been, I have decided that I will not obligate myself to record these matches, nor wake up for them. This is for the sake of my own sanity and energy .. However, I will translate details when they come up, and I will submit it to the calender.
If someone presents me satisfactory recordings (minimal buffering, no overlays, complete VOD), I will take time to organize and upload them to Youtube. But I will not go out of my way to stream the games myself for recording purposes.
Should be sick SSL Ro16 Finally, the Offline Ro16 Groups were made. They areeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee:
A : Pusan, Icarus, Larva, Soma
B : Mong, Perfectman, Shinee, Saber
C : Killer, Hiya, Hint, KTW
D : Cola, Sky, Ample, Koala
The map order is Neo Jade, Neo Electric Circuit, and New Sniper Ridge. Bo3.
This may raise a few questions and confusion. What about Bo5? What about Wind and Cloud? Well .. I dunno either. Sonic is very vague on the details, and I have no idea how this is gonna work. Hell, I'm not even sure about the format .. I think its Dual tournament styled format again. We'll find out more concrete details by Friday at the very latest. POLL Finally, just to repost this Poll because we still have a ways away from the Ro16. Vote on how the Ro16 onwards will be recorded! A test example VOD here.

Dude, whatch your words... Shame is not lite word, specially if you mean it, which i think is not the case here but still. He done so much work that even if he vanish for 10 days wont be that bad... Also there are others streamers around here, Bgvrt, Sniper, zergjesus?, maybe kjw, Me, Cedstick and probably more. And i think he (avrickhero) is doing already too much work for a single person. uploading vods to youtube is luxury that take your time and actually is not even nessecery.. You can always go to stream page and watch and download if you want.. We all not only 3-4 people should say I LOVE YOU arvickhero/sawamura/bgvrt/sniper/kjw for all the info/threads/streams. Streaming most of the day/making big treads with info/updating/being home at bad hours and stream sacrificing ourself just for you guys to be happy and when u log in to see good games served to you...
Thank you to Sawamura for making the LR threads, and to Modesty, Cedstick and bgvrtb for live streaming.
Nobody except you and ourselfs thanks us... That's a shame. Anyway i am mostly free this week so i will stream, but keep in mind i stream only fpv, zerg fpv if possible.
^Woah, I think you misinterpreted his words a bit. He meant it like "it's a big disappointment for him", not "shame on your and your family!!!!" ... a lot of ppl use the term like that, english language is tricky like that lol ~_~
I also must've been not very clear, I'm only "not obligating" myself to recording/watching the SOSPA PL Exhibition matches. If others record (satisfactory VODs) for me, I'll split the VODs and upload to youtube, but only if that happens. I will continue to cover the Ro16 very closely w/ timely VODs. I like to finish things I've started, and SSL falls on the weekend for me which is very convenient
I really like Sinedd, he's always the constant I can look forward to heheh ... but honestly while ppl saying "omg thank you" and stuff is nice, it's not my driving determination for this. This is mostly something I'm doing for myself and fulfilling my own love for SC and the community, otherwise I would've given this project up a long time ago. Sonic to me is somewhat of an inspirational figure to me, and this is my way of contributing to a community that has been a huge part of my life.
I'm really happy that even a small number of people have volunteered, on their own, to help. I wasn't expecting this much help, and you guys are awesome
And Modesty, any stream is welcomed even if it's FPV, it's a valuable service ppl enjoy greatly, more than the actual broadcast itself sometimes lol

you evil selfish person
Yeah he should be punished with a star imo. Eventually.. if he keeps it up
Sonic has not posted any details about SOSPA Proleague Exhibition matches tonight, but it's on the Afreeca calender (slated for 9pm KST). I was hoping he'd put up the details before I slept so I could post it here and submit it to the calender, but I guess not :S
If someone fluent in Korean wants to keep checking, you can check Sonic's page (http://afreeca.com/sogoodtt) for any new updates regarding tonight's broadcast. Regardless of details, there SHOULD be a broadcast tonight 9PM KST, so for those who want to stream or watch, remember that time lol
I love you all dearly, even though I dont even watch all the games (serious guilt feelings). Starting ro16 i def. will though, and will try to get down to sonics studio to watch some live. Anyone wanna go with?
Glad they changed up the viewing area to something that made more sense heheh. Also instead of a bigass 50inch screen, he's gonna be using a projector .. O_o
If anyone here is planning to go, it seems like you need to send in an application. I recommend saying that you are from Teamliquid, that'll probably get your application auto-accepted lol. Added incentive to apply? He's providing free food/snacks :D
You can find the application at the bottom of Sonic's post here

Sonic and his crew got sick from working too hard last weekend from SSL .. went home like 2-3am so its understandable they cancelled SoPL to give themselves a chance for a break
The new scheduling makes it easier for everyone imo
Anyways, VODs! Now in lovely 480p quality heheh, anyone know how to set it to default? seems like I have to change it manually every time I watch
oh wait I guess you can't do the 480p unless you go straight to the page?
So I'm trying to read that new calendar and that's what I'm guessing from it:
So right now there's no more SSL until next saturday. From now on there's only SSL on saturdays. Every saturday are only played 2 matches. Finals are the 17 of November, including the 3rd and 4th placement matches. After the finals there is sospa proleague non-stop, everyday of the week.
Correct, except for the last bit .. just think of those as TBA.
In fact, think of the entire thing as subject to change .. becuase that's how Sonic works lol. I'm glad he's spreading it out more now, makes it a lot easier for him and everyone else. Now I'm just hoping he does one match per day instead of 2 per day lol
And Sonic says he's doing exhibition matches "for sure" this week .. didn't specify it was SoPL or not, it could be Sonic Allstars vs x team. We'll see as details emerge
Sorry I didn't make any translation of the calender or anything .. paint is very annoying to work with and i didnt really have the time to deal with it hahah.
Sonic said in a previous post he's gonna get the new ex-pros together and do some kind of event/exhibition match with the sonic allstars team. There's a good chance that's going to happen seeing as though tyson, movie, shuttle and hero have been playing in team battles almost everyday this week so you know they are available haha
You, guys, made a great start. All the recent results, VODs etc are here. But please, do not stop. We really need this thread to be on fire. Your work is much appreciated — please, keep it on.
I'm also newsing SSL on the biggest russian site. Today I was so confused trying to find anything about SSL. The timetable of games seemed to be wrong, still no specific thread for 1/8...
For those of you who watched it live, you might have noticed there was a photo highlight video. I have managed to record it and it's up on youtube too + Show Spoiler +
Sonic has promised a variety of events this week, though SoPL was not explicitly named .. we'll see lol. SSL Ro8 next week!!
Ro8 Matchups [Z]Larva vs [P]Perfectman
[P]Pusan vs [Z]Cola
[T]Mong vs [Z]Killer
[T]Hiya vs [P]Sky
Maps: Neo Jade, Neo Electric Circuit, New Sniper Ridge, Wind and Cloud, Fighting Spirit
Can't wait for the next weekend Thank you to everyone who has been helping so far, and to all those of you who watch and enjoy this league!
next saturday and the saturday after that will be the Ro8, presumably same time. I will get around to adding that sometime soon. Each day will have 2 Bo5 played
Wind and Cloud was played during the 6v6 Sonic Allstars vs ExPro Team exhibition match, though it was short lol.
Bo5 of course for the Ro8, and I was hoping Pusan would get PvT too since he's good at it and I want him to win the whole thing hahah. That, or Cola lol .. if either of those two can win it all, I'd be sooooooo happy lol
went ahead and uploaded new VODs (Pman vs Larva Game 5, Pusan v Cola game 3) for the offending games by completely removing the opening. Updating everything accordingly, you should be able to watch the games now
Semifinals have been uploaded. This took a lot longer than I thought it would lol ..
Sorta annoying, I recorded these in 800x600 thinking they'd come out in 720p quality but I got the numbers mixed up .. ~_~ aiming for 720p VODs for the final lol
finally got around w/ the Finals VODs. Though it's not necessary w/ Sayle's VODs, having them for the sake of completion is nice. Not the prettiest OP ever, but it's essentially done. Maybe one day I'll get around to reformatting this mess lol
