Ghosts could definitely be viable if you can go upto 4-5 gas though then it's just a matter of people being too locked into the regular respone (just mass goliath).

I think outsider is a map where ghosts could be a good idea. They have to try something, 'cause look at this game. What could Light have done with his goliaths?

Mong have shown it's effective as well. But it has to be practiced and explored like you point out.

Also lesson learnt from Light vs Jaehoon - you have to win within the first 15-20mins in TvP or else carriers are impossible to deal with late game. Nah, it depends on the map a lot. On most maps if you scan them in time, you're fine - even if you don't scan them in time you can usually stabilize. On maps where there's a lot of impassable terrain or different sections that require going all around to come to, they're stronger though.

Not worth it? I don't think Terran ever needs more gas geysirs than mineral lines. Every unit T masses costs more minerals than gas. The only occurrence where I can imagine this being useful would be a mass wraith build to counter a fast carrier build with late obs. But T would have to know about the carriers so early that it might not be applicable at all. This is probably mainly a Zerg option if they want to go for a mass muta or mass lurker style which requires as much minerals as gas.

I'm mostly thinking of this in terms of Outsider where the Terran can have his main, back expos and grab those two gases+expo on the side but maybe that's too much gas then.
