Stephano was caught after having been too intoxicated at the nightclub Sliver in Jönköping, where does the party after the DreamHack took place.
After the tournament was held at DreamHack the customary one party at the nightclub Sliver in central Jönköping. The organizers invited all the pros on free drink in connection with the presentation of a ProGaming-band, and the players were happy. For a pro, the big Starcraft-world star Stephano, however, it became a little too much. So much so that the guards called police, who took care of the drunken Frenchman. - Stephano went full exorcist on Those couches, hadeeth They threw him out like yesterday's trash and he spent the night in the drunk tank, told InControl State of the Game . police shall according to witnesses took Stephano to a detox cell where he spent the rest of the night

Well guys, as esports is growing this kind of stuff is going happen, how often do we hear about our big stars in the news from other sports. And if you think about it Stephano is a young guy, with a pretty significant amount of money, and this kind of thing does happen to college kids from time to time.
|
God, he really should be careful with this...
|
Hahahahaha.... the shades and colors make him still look like such a joker >.>
|

If this is not a troll, then good on him!! French pride!! Though he sounds like a lightweight @_@ but yeah good stuff. And if this is a troll, and the pic would pretty much support that (pretty epic), then good on him too xD
|
Well, that's unfortunate.
|
Is this real? XD haha, hope Stephano doesn't get into any real trouble
lol, too drunk, t_T :D
|
I think the only funny thing is that they hid the faces of the police in this pic but you can see their faces no problem in the Stephano fanclub.

It´s fine, because he still young, and he will learn A LOT from this, but if he does it again, that will carry a lot problems in the near future.
Im wondering how much it will affect stephano....

With the prices of beer in France (or at least Paris), I'm not surprised that the Frenchman cannot handle his drink. ^.^ (Yes, wine is much cheaper there and in a quality I can only dream of where I live, but wine is not something you tend to drink en masse.)
But tis nothing big. Just somebody who took a deeper look into the glass as he could handle, nothing more.

The picture is hilarious ^^ For some reason, I feel like this accident makes Stephano more likeable

Haha, never was a fan if stephano before but I am now. This happened to me about 6 years ago at a wcg nationals in las vegas, this kinda thing is honestly inevitable and notna huge deal as long as you save it for after the tournament. I feel like less of a lameass about previous incident (being semi-related to an esports event makes it seem like, wtf, why are you going to bars/clubss, does not compute!) and i think this just shows that pro gamers are people with real world personalities and real world fuckups. How many young adults on here can say with total honesty that they've never gotten arrested after a night of drinking? Or, at the very least, fucked up or did something kinda dumb? This just humanizes it tbh, and while it sucks for Stephano, it wasnt a huge deal and i cant see anyone being seriously critical. We've all been there, .
The only part i can see him catching a huge amount of heat for is tossing chunks. Gotta hold that liquor in kid, at least untilnyou're well inside of a moving cop car!

Actually it gets a bit confusing when people are stating that he got arrested. That's not true. He did not do anything illegal since he was just drinking at legal age at a legal bar.
A more suitable term would be "take care of". The reason they escort him to a cell was because he was a danger to himself or other people around him, not because he did something illegal. The police probably made the decision that he was so intoxicated that he could not take care of himself, and therefore escort him to a cell where he can sleep it off.
So ye, they just "helped" him since he could not help himself according to their decision.

There's a good chance that if you send a drunk tanker home, he's just going to go somewhere else (possibly via car) and cause a shitstorm.

Its standard in Sweden though and no big deal, if you get too drunk, like Stephano, then you can call the cops who simply escorts you ant detains you at the police station until you get sober enough to leave, which usually is the next day

Not sure if it's the same in Sweden, but here there is basically a limit to how drunk you can be before the police have a right to detain you. I think the idea behind it is to prevent you from doing harm to yourself, by walking into traffic, falling off stuff or whatever
edit: but yeah.. the thread should be renamed to something like "Stephano detained by police" or something, because he was not strictly speaking arrested (I assume)

Before people get freaked out that the police took care of Stephano, I can say that this is not that big of a deal. A lot of people that are too drunk and intoxicated and really can't take care of themselves are taken care of by the police in Sweden.
Basically they will put you in to a "Sober Up"-cell (Yes, that's what they are called in Sweden) and you will be there for a maximum of 8 hours. The police will then release you and you are free.
You have not commited a crime or anything like that, this is basically just the society/police taking care of a very drunk guy. Every year there are about 54 000 detentions in Sweden where people are put in "Sober Up"-cell for exactly the same thing.

meh he was out of the tourney he could do whatever he wants. Also he wasnt arrested they just took him to drunk tank because he was too drunk.

I think most people who drink socially have been there, done that.
I love Rakaka spinning on it. Hellspawn was probably buying him drinks hoping for this to happen so he could get a photo.

What's funny is that I'm sure a lot of you think that typical celeb gossip is pretty pathetic stuff. But here you are.

Stephano's young, he's got to learn his limits on some stuff. Not saying it's good he got shit-faced and puked everywhere but come on people, get that stick out of your asses and remember the first times you drank and got really shit-faced. This kind of things happen and there's no reason to blame him at all.
As for being the Lindsay Lohan of SC2, I wish Lindsay Lohan had half the career in acting Stephano had in ProGaming.

The cops are just underfunded so the 101 Reykjavík is a warzone from 10pm - 4 am every weekend. Still find it harsh no matter to haul someone to a police station because he's to drunk, assuming he isn't violent.

As for being the Lindsay Lohan of SC2, I wish Lindsay Lohan had half the career in acting Stephano had in ProGaming. First time I got totally trashed I did not puke all over a night club in a foreign country and get arrested. Also, this isn't the first time Stephano's been drunk.
They probably threw him in the drunk tank for the night and released him in the morning.

While I'm not one to promote tattling to sponsors, you realize that "on his personal time" is the worst argument ever, right? That never ever ever is a good defense, and famous people know this. Example:
Tiger Woods was on his personal time too lol. As are most other people who do something considered immoral or illegal (you think they're going to do it during their televised event?). Except celebrities, athletes, and other people with sponsors are never actually *on* their personal time (as in: where they know 100% that they can get away with things where they won't need to take sponsors into consideration), and anything they do even off the main stage can still be caught by cameras/ paparazzi and make their sponsors look bad.
Anyways, I doubt there will be much backlash from this, as Millenium seems rather fine with Stephano's general behavior.

I'm not sure if I understand your comment, but PM me (that way the thread here stays on topic) if you honestly are unaware of Stephano's repeated controversial events that have been talked about on TL and you want to know. I don't exactly keep a formal list, but there's enough that I could jot a few down for you if you don't check TL that frequently and somehow missed out on them.

I like Stephano because SC is just a hobby for him. He just wants to play, gain some money and party hard during his sabbatical year. He will have the time to be serious later, at the university (ven if med school parties are well known for being awesome). Frankly, a lot of pro-ams from other professionnal scenes ended up as gamestop employees (like Incontrol as before SC2 came out) because they kept playing for too long and wasted too much time. I feel his attitude towards gaming is the healthier one.

no im not saying its nice actually its good to hold public figure to ethical standard, but what stephano does is like nothing compared to politic figures for instance. like hes just having fun and messing up, thats it. and yea its not shocking in france overall, some ppl are upsets ofc but ull never see a celebrity having issues due to drug/alcohool/sex until it gets reaaaaaaaaaaaally bad, and even then a lot off ppl get away easily. like soccer players, singers and whatnot get constantly caught in pretty serious fights in nightclubs and all that stuff. Stephano is an angel for these standards u know ?

Its just sooo many people try to paint him as the 'face of foreigner esports'. When i think he is just a kid and is a horrible role model that doesn't care about SC2 or Esports in general. He is bad for the scene imo

Sorry to burst your bubble but esports isn't as significant as world-famous celebrities lol. Tiger Woods is looked up to by millions of young kids. Only people who give a damn about Stephanos incident are a couple butthurt kids on an Internet forum.
Although I will say that even in the case of celebrities I give zero fucks about their personal lives and don't think there should be news about it. Only reason it becomes a big deal is because some paparazzi scum know they can make money off of coming up with the story. If it weren't for them, no one would know and we'd all be better off.

Im so glad this happened to him. but his fanbois wont care lol, who doesn't get that wasted at that age? There's nothing to "care" about here. As far as I know, the only think that happened was that couches got puked on. It's not like he was drunk driving or something, and actually putting other people at risk He himself isn't doing anything bad. If i was him, ida do the same thing. Its just sooo many people try to paint him as the 'face of foreigner esports'. When i think he is just a kid and is a horrible role model that doesn't care about SC2 or Esports in general. He is bad for the scene imo
what's with this "role model" nonsense? Is it an american thing that every person in the public eye has to be some sort of attempt at a perfect human being? People who have role models are sheep.. He's a guy who's spending his time playing games, he's not a surgeon fixing the cleft jaws of small children in Africa or something. You have to be the stupidest of sheep if you're looking for role models in the progamer community. Just be yourself. I'm not even a Stephano fan, but I certainly respect his attitude way more than the reddit witch burning brigade that will no doubt be up in arms about this.

I'm also confused as to where this stupid 'role model', 'community figure', bullshit came from.

I should really just have a field day with Stephano's behavior in general and this article. But I won't. I shall resist to the best of my abilities. I hope Stephano becomes more professional and mature in the future. He's a good player but needs to grow up. This is Reason #200 or so showing this.
Reals? Cmon bro, if you feel like shit, nothing like some alcohol to wash your problems away.
Everyone does this, even adults.

OFC he's not the best role model. He has acted unprofessionally many times. He hasn't tried to be role model, and though people surely look up to him, he shouldn't have to change his persona in order to facilitate that, as long as he's honest about it.
I always cheer for him regardless of his antics.
