Kwanro has "withdrawn" from progaming. Apparently, he's been under a lot of pressure since he joined SKT and stated his wish to do something else, such as study. The team tried to hold him back because they felt he was a Zerg necessary for the team, but gave in to Kwanro's determination. And he's been receiving psychotherapy as well as.... dental treatment?(don't really know why that's relevant,,,).
On March 10 2011 12:08 hacklebeast wrote: @ op: Kwanro started his absence because of oral surgery, so that's why the article included dental care.
thanks for the info ~_~
임의탈퇴 basically means that - rights of the progamer still are with the team - removed from the season's roster, and the progamer's contract is paused - if the progamer wants to return to progaming, has to return to his/her original team So unlike retiring, there is still a chance for him to return to progaming. (I think? I'm not completely familiar with this concept, so please correct me if I'm wrong)
But...but...who will Stork laugh at and insult in interviews now? Who will beat popular players with all-ins and provoke the wrath of the entire interwebs?
It's odd. SKT acquired Kwanro to help strengthen their zerg line, but I'm almost positive he played under 10 games for them this season. And now he's leaving...

Are people compelled to say this in every single withdrawl/retirement thread or something?
Kwanro... So this is what you really wanted, huh? Well if you want to go pursue your dreams, then you better go chase them!! Ahhh, this makes me so sad, but he hasn't been doing that well, so I guess this explains his lack of inspiration lately.... I had wanted to see one last game from him in WL, but I guess I'll just have to say farewell. T___T You'll be missed, but we'll always remember you for Kwanrolling others!

sc2 would be absolutely perfect for his playstyle >___>
I don't think he can go to SC2. From what I understand, 임의탈퇴 states that if he does return to progaming, he has to return to the same team - SKT. Not completely sure, though.
Kwanro is actually a really good player. Sad that he's so hated that everyone makes fun of him even when he "withdraws" from progaming, which most likely means retirement.
Really that he was the one to make SKt1 the # 1 favorite for me again with him being in their lineup to make the team more stable. Sucks to see him go :| Hope hes happy with what he does

sc2 technically isn't 'progaming' under kespa eyes. although i wouldn't be surprised if his progaming license would get revoked, if he were to go that path.
anyway, kwanro lost his touch when he left cj for woongjin. shame that he moved so many times to different teams. moving teams does more than what people think.

I agree. It was so much more exciting when he was on CJ. Why does SKT suck at handling Zerg players so much?
It's a really sad day. Kwanro was definitely a unique player. There is now this void that needs to be filled where Kwanro left.
Noo. D:D:D: Goddammit all of the zergs I like keep leaving. Soon all I'm gonna be left with is Jaedong, and nobody wants that. I'd better not start liking Great or else he'll go too. T_T
damn..... that's really disappointing. but who am I to say anything about this matter. Progaming must be a very stressful job. Good luck to him in the future
NOOO, Kwanro's aggression was always fun to watch in contrast to all the passive zerg players out there. It's too bad Kwanro had to be traded away, I know CJ would love to have another good zerg after Hydra now that Savior and Effort aren't playing. He was a very good fit for that team.
Sucks, I really like Kwanro, he is really good (usually). I thought something like this would happen when we hardly saw him in PL at all. I'm sad to see him leave BW, but I hope he is successful in what he chooses to do next (the fact that he kept the option to return to BW progaming inclines me to think that he isn't gonna go to SC2). Would be great to see him clear his head and return to BW in the future.
I was surprised that he went to SKT to begin with, but man.... Kwanro will be missed. His ridiculous and sometimes suicidal all-ins were soooo fun to watch.

Aww, c'mon not that again.
Sc2 is where people end their careers (boxer, nada)
No more stork thumbs downs. No more ridiculous all ins. No more stork laughing in booth. No more aggresive hatch tech pushes. No more stork ridiculing. No more aggression to counter aggression. I feel like we've lost so much + Show Spoiler +
I don't get it .. I never saw a TLer really hated kwanro like how some people would hate Bisu/Flash/Stork/Shine etc. but when I read the thread, I saw posts about how people used to bash kwanro.

After reading all these posts and considering he's only "withdrawn," I'm going to be the (potentially crazy) one and hold faith that he'll return soon. Till then, here's to Kwanro, his future endeavors, and his return (hopefully).
Just wait. After Kwanro all-ins his way through school, he'll become a world-class researcher, eventually curing cancer, solving the energy crisis, and ending world hunger.
Once he returns to the progaming scene, we'll see who gets the last laugh against this verifiable genius Zerg.

I remember there of debate over if KT getting Action was better than SKT1 getting Kwanro. Action having more potential, possibly being better pick in the long run but Kwanro being better in short term because he was currently better.
Kind of an extreme version of that if Kwanro just decided to leave.
he went to woongjin to play more televised games he went to skt to play more televised games
and he never was allowed to play.
i still dont understand why kwanro got so much hate from the coaches. he was my favourite zerg for years...
i would be happy to see him in sc2. well i would be happier to see him in bw, but i dont think he will get to play anymore, for whatever reason he was never sent out, so sc2 would be the better choice. but he didnt withdraw...

People are still going through courage and still going up the ranks, we got people like sHy finally getting to A-team now.
Really disappointing news, i never understood why SKT1 barely played him, but as pointed out Woonjin was where things turned around. Shame, he was unique. The chart from the first page is cool, dunno if it was intentional but having swearing in it is funny after the incident where he had to apologize for it.
Least we have neo-kwanro Shine still around, but where is he these days? Don't remember him coming out as much now.
Kwanro is so awesome.. someone should do like a top list or playlist of his coolest all ins and stuff, would totally love that

Look at Afreeca streams. Its 90% BW. The koreans are still nuts about the game, other games including sc2 are much less present in the grass-roots level web streaming scene.
Kwanro is so awesome. Shame on you SKT! He might have saved the reputation of SKT Zergs had they not stopped sending him!!
Seriously, I loved Kwanro's games. Even if some of them are just lulz, when he wins it's always a happy time in the LR thread. I hoped he would have all-in'd one last time before retiring, that would have been cool. Anyways, I hope you have a bright future ahead of you, Kwanro. We'll definitely miss your KWANROLLING.
Taken aback by this, really thought his absence was more 'special training' transferring to the new macro style he displayed in his few PL games for SKT. SKBisu dismantles another zerg..

I havent made the Sc2 jump myself yet, but i know i will in 2 or 3months from now. The youngsters are playing the newer games, its just bound to happen. That`s life. Teams wont be able to recrute recruits that easily anymore, and it shows already. The newer guys arent that amazing anymore. I`ve been playing Sc since `97, its not like im happy that this is happening but like i said already, its life.
I hope Kwanro plays Sc2, maybe the training methods of BW arent for him anymore, maybe he needs a relaxed kind of ambiance that Pro Bw teams arent provinding. Thanks for the great moments you gave us Kwanro, we`ll never forget them.
SKT has no idea how to handle zerg players. It's a black hole for the race. Zergs are probably reduced to making coffee runs, or lining up to die to Bisu in practice to boost his confidence.
Kwanro was awesome: Avalon MSL Finalist, NATE MSL Semifinalist, and all around badass.
Shame on the haters. Shame on SKT for driving him away with whatever their "methods" are.
They seem to think that they need a good zerg on their team but everytime they try to buy one, they are unable to nurture the talent and make it grow. July for example went into the longest slump after he was purchased by skt1, but then he miraculously wins an OSL the very season he leaves.
My two cents, SKT1 needs to learn how to nurture zergs, not just terrans and protoss.
But seriously, he was a fairly good player it's a shame he didn't get to play much. Being the only good zerg on SKT apparently doesn't mean much though...

Quoted for truth
Also it might actually benefit him allins are amazingly powerful in sc2 more so then in sc1 timings are hard to learn cause usually its balance that has to do with the all ins in sc2

Wow, how did I miss this thread? I loved Pikachu Zerg. Everyone knew he would pretty much 9 pool you, yet somehow it always worked. If he's moving on from BW, then I wish him the best.
Truly a great loss for the zerg. Players nowadays seem to have a fixation on overcoming their opponent in management games, probably some misplaced pride thing. The Kwanroller's mastery in harnessing the beauty that is aggressive zerg play was truly a sight to behold. Ahh, a sad day indeed.
