Haven't been updating this, but Vol. 2, Ch. 13 just came out. Looks like Akraptor isn't such a bad guy after all. Hope he doesn't meet the same fate as Ho who was probably my favorite character from Volume 1. Seems like good guys finish last in ToG ;(
Even though Ho tried to ruin Baam, I think he was a good-hearted person based on the few pages about his past.
Edit: Thanks to the moderator who moved this to the General forum! Hopefully, more people can take notice of this AWESOME, but relatively unknown manhwa.

I have always wanted to make a thread for this ever since I started reading it (back when it was like first couple chapters), can't believe this thread actually appeared and somehow slipped my eye!
I love this story. Baam is a badass.

Did you miss all the parts where he acts protective of her and how she reminds him of his daughter and him being tsundere about wanting to help her? At the very start of season 2, I can understand that thought, but the last 5 or so chapters have made it obvious where he stands.

Speaking of web toons.
God of highschool is pretty good too. This series reminds me of JoJo's Bizzare adventure now. 마술사 (Magician) is also good. Kind of like a DnD style adventure.

ToG is one of my most favourite manga/manhwa. Almost every character makes sense and is interesting, every new chapter wants me to know more. And integrity of the story is amazing! It has over 90 chapters long and the story hasnt gone nuts like in case of for example Air Gear, Vampire Knight, Golden boy and many more, where you have tons of new characters that doesnt have any space and it gets really confusing. So I'm glad its not the case in ToG. And the end of act 1 was like O______O
Dont anyone know if SIU makes it as his full time job or just part time? I heard he is now doing his military services.
|
My god, don't remind me of Air Gear....Simca was my fav char. of all time until they made her irrelevant TT
But I just started reading this manhwa after about 7-12 months of manga-reading inactivity. I must say, I'm quite impressed. Japanese artists seem to be much better at creating story, and the author's plot here seems to be a bit amateurish compared to the top Japanese manga plots, but I like it nevertheless. The color is fantastic and I really <3 the world!

Ah, been following this manhwa for the past few months. I would rate this above Naruto and Bleach. The lore is good and intriguing and there are so many questions, e.g. why was baam there in the cave, why is there a zahard (?) symbol in the cave etc. Also been hanging around the batoto forums too lol
However, I would like to see more of Wangnan and his powers (if there are any) and his connection to the story.

To anyone who did not check it yet, you should definitely read on.
This Manwha was advised to me by a friend and I had to prevent myself from reading everything in one go. I managed to make it last 2 weeks and man, those were 2 awesome weeks !
The genuine story and human characters made it for me, Drawings are simple but neat and all color, the humor is top notch and things are not as predictable as one would think from the start, a lot of things happen in those Turtle's shells !
My guess about Baam is + Show Spoiler +he either is Jahard himself or a blood relative of the king. And I really want to see how things are gonna go with Urek Mazino and his Wing tree tribe !
As Gameguard mentions, 마술사 (Magician) is also a great read you can find on Batoto !

For those who haven't read it yet and just stumbled upon this thread.. I've read ALL of the big Mangas and countless smaller ones. ToG is one of my personal favorites and the one I lie awake waiting for each week.
The characters and the plot are incredibly complex the more you think the deeper you can go. It's VERY thought out, you can see that the author has put a lot of planning into the whole world and how the characters interact in it. Baam (the main character) and his companions are _very_ life like, you can easily follow their emotions and by inspecting them you can find new meanings in the story.
Apart from just cool fighting scenes, the "message" is in several layers and I think most people find different meanings in the story.
GIVE IT A SHOT!

ToG has yet to reach the popularity of Naruto/Bleach/One Piece, but I'm sure many fans will argue that's not because of a lack of quality. It's mainly because of a lack of exposure and because ToG is still a relatively new work. Hopefully, the move from the Blog section to the General forum will help remedy the lack of exposure!
I think the best part of ToG (for me) is that my interest isn't centered around the main character, but around the whole world presented in the manhwa. While Baam has proven himself to be a BAMF, he's not the focal point of the TUS (the world ToG takes place in). While there's fan speculation that he may be Zahard's son, the author gives no direct confirmation that he's the "chosen one" or even has any interest in becoming the greatest. A lot of generic manga show the main character as an individual who strives to become the best - a plausible goal due to the amazing growth rate of the character. ToG does not have that. While Baam shows amazing growth due to his nature as an irregular, his growth rate is still dwarfed by the deeds of other irregulars (Phantaminum and Enryu both were powerful enough to skip the standard procedure of climbing the tower). Baam is amazing, but he's not the greatest. And I don't get the feeling that by the end of the manhwa, Baam will be the strongest - I'm completely fine with that as long he finds the closure he's looking for.
Plus, you can't help but love the author's sense of humor. Not only does he troll the readers with some ambiguous gender identities, but he trolls his own characters (poor Yeon).

Man that last chapter was pretty good, I hope akraptor sticks around for a while. Also I think the reason why webtoons like Noblesse/ToG/Magician (IMO the 3 best webtoons) are so good is because as mentioned there is more than one central character, and in a way the central character even undergoes less development than the companions of the character. And also there is a lot of mystery in all 3 manhwas, noblesse is on its like 235th chapter, and there is still a lot to reveal.

Korean comics can be referred to as manhwa. It's Mandarin, literally meaning slow (man) drawings (hwa).

The art style is uncannily entrancing..

Loving it. What day do the new episodes usually get released?

The author actually has a blog where he reveales many details of the lore. And that's what so great about ToG, it's lore is just so interesting even tough we haven't really seen too much of it.
