Description: The story is set in the modern day, except people with special powers have become commonplace throughout the world. A boy named Izuku Midoriya has no powers, but he still dreams.
My number one contender for Jump's next big thing seeing as Naruto has ended and Bleach is.....well you know lol.(One Piece will always be #1 no matter what)
I actually like all the characters so far so thats a big thing.
I'm liking it so far. One of my quibbles is that MC and bakugou look too samey with mainly a hair palette swap but I'll probably get over it eventually. Also Tsuyu best girl.

I mean OP had a pretty bad first cover, so did bleach and the art in this manga looks pretty good.
Going to look the first few chapters, hopefully it's funny so it can replace the good laughs I had reading Naruto and bleach for the last 2-3 years. That comedy gold.
Blind my compatibility with you in manga must be like 115% or something, cuz yea :v, maybe we are long lost twins? (Already kept up with this series, nice to see a thread appear)

It's a Japanese comic though, so that doesn't really apply
And from a cover, you can normally expect what the characters will look like and the general tone which is enough for me to judge.

I'm not sure what to say about this. It could be the worst thing I've ever heard of when judging any sort of media, you can easily click a couple times to see how its actually drawn.
This series has the potential to take the #2 spot overall. Will easily be better than naruto or bleach.
One thing I've really enjoyed about this manga so far is that it's not afraid to make fun of itself. While the overall plot is typical shounen, there's a lot of parody and western-references that keep this very entertaining to read.

I still think you should try it before judging it, at the very least it would give you credibility.
pretty sensational to call it the 1# contender or even a contender at all when it hasnt even 1 year of serialisation...
so we have a wimpy-saint-type mc, who is even more of a loser in a schoolsetting where everybody but him is special (i would like to refer to the cancelled Mx0 or Iris Zero at this point, both of them made a better impression on me) of course he has a way to get stronger, but thats really far off in the future...
it has good art and character design, if a corecrew fleshes out (already a lot of characters) and explores the world beyond the done to death schoolsetting, i think it can have a good run depending on how the mainstory gets rolling, but at he moment, i dont think it can surpass the aforementioned manga, or the second row like toriko or beelzebub.

Toriko has taken Bleach over a while now. It's in the top3 for a while now.
Imgo the top of the Jump is : 1) One Piece (2) HxH) 3) Toriko 4) Gintama 5) Bleach / Assassination Classroom / Haikyū!! / Nisekoi / World Trigger

I didn't judge whether it's good or bad, I only judged that it's not something that is worth my time. As I stated, I have One Piece and as long as it doesn't blow me away, it's not worth bothering for me. When I looked at the cover, it was the complete opposite and I doubt what's inside is then that exact opposite of the cover. So yep, it makes sense. That's why I don't get where you are coming from. I even mentioned that I read about it before, without saying it's good or bad(again).

Credibility for what exactly though? I explained my reasoning and from my point of view, it's sound and I didn't discredit the manga but only said it's not for me.

Probably because this site is my homepage and I always check for everything that I've missed. So if someone replies, I wouldn't just ignore him. That's what I would call courtesy. Also, who said I don't care about the manga? I didn't bother with Naruto either but still read what people here wrote about it after it finished.
It's a fun manga, I like having the direction it is going as well. I am a bit disappointed with assassination classroom because nothing really changes and it gets more repetitive. I hope this will be better
boku no pico is pretty good!!!! besides when i came here i thought they made a manga out of boko haram, but thats just me not reading it right i guess <:
Yeah I really like the shadow guy though. Although with only 30 seconds remaining I think that Kacchan will destroy that b team then not have enough time to take the 100000000 headband
How does a single elim. tournament work here? These are just preliminaries before the all-grade round robin. I guess there will be probably more points stuff involved. I think Deku will have to face bird guy. Would make a fun match.
What's exceptional about this manga, is how well written the characters are. The characters are nuanced, and develop very realistically, which isn't something that many manga can claim. This chapter is a prime example of it with Uraraka, Bakugou and Midoriyama all showing interesting sides of themselves.
Midoriyama standing up against Endeavour who's probably someone he used to admire really shows why he's this story's hero. And does Bakugou like Uraraka?
Todoroki using both his quirks must be monstrously powerful. Deku has no chances of beating him unless he makes a mistake due to not using his flame power enough. I rather think Todoroki wins though, and when Endeavour goes to talk to him after the match, Todoroki tells him to get out of his life.

yeah, but when things are that obvious all you can hope for is a good execution of it.
he can still win if he can reign in higher control of "All Might" he already demonstrated at the start that his strength is enough to prevent his ice powers from insta-winning
id be dissapointed if he loses now though, hes the main character its no fun if he loses here
Early on in the series, 'main character' status hasn't kicked in yet. Makes more sense for Todoroki to win when he goes all out, given that not only does he have a very strong grasp of his powers (well, the ice ones at least) but also the intellect to use them as more than just brute force, raw power blasts. Midoriya is still working on the foundational level of controlling his massive power. It would've been a little silly for him to have actually pulled out a win against Todoroki at that point.
What'll be interesting is whether Todoroki will turn into a friend/comrade, or be a second rival with a hostile attitude (aka, Vegeta syndrome) like Bakugou is. Teamwork between Todoroki and Midoriya in the future could be pretty interesting, as both have fairly strategic minds amongst the current cast.
At least Midoriya has been showing some progress, such as doing well in the earlier events, and isn't just constantly the whipping boy that gets last place every time before suddenly turning into the 'awesome main character that saves the day'. I have to admire the patience that authors in general must have to exercise to slowly grow a character instead of rushing to the 'good parts' since, as the author, they know where the character will eventually end up.
Short pep talk from All Might was a nice touch. Batoto and mangapanda have moderately different translations for that scene too. Cheesy or not, straightforward proclamations about the characteristics of a hero aren't a bad thing to have.
This manga is showing more and more potential to be something great. Just has to not turn into a 'school life manga, but with superpowers' and we should be okay. Based on the current chapters and themes, the mangaka seems to have a different long term vision so should be fun to watch where the series goes from here.

personally id give it a failing grade as an action manga, MC still cant control his power can can only sacrifice both his amrs and legs to not even beat his opponent whos another kid how is he supposed to face the adults we all know there gonna be fighting?
if he doesnt control his power soon then ill probably just drop this manga :/

better than the time he couldn't even bring out that power unless he sacrificed his entire body, jeez man give it another arc or two.

I really enjoy the manga and I think, the fast that the MC still doesn't control his Quirk is leading to a non rushed manga that would turn into Bleach too fast.
Recovery Girl essentially saying "I'm sick of your bullshit, you two" may indicate the self-destruct method of using All for One should be changing soon-ish. It was amusing, and made a fair amount of sense, but ultimately is a gimmick that couldn't last an entire series.
He's supposedly able to use around 5% of his potential power, so the sooner he can get a stable handle on that the sooner we get to move on with standard power progression in the background while the forefront focuses on other aspects.

Another nice chapter with a light mood. I really wonder who nominated Midoriya. I don't suppose it's someone we know. I can't think of anyone that would provoke such a reaction. Endeavour doesn't fit the bill imo.

It's certainly possible, and the most obvious guess at that. I'm not completely convinced that all might would have quite that strong of a reaction to Endeavour nominating him. Also from a plot point of view I'm not sure if Endeavour nominating him would help progress things as someone else doing so. Depends on how the author wants to use this I guess.

The author does a really good job of showcasing the personalities of the members of the class with very little screen time. And overall they are a very cool bunch of characters. That said I do find Mineta, and navel laser dude mildly annoying, though that is kinda their role.
well training is gonna have to take a break GRAN TORINOOOOOOOOOO!
but seriously though I like this villain, the idea that heroes have lost their way and there a villain who targets the ones who are just in it for the money/power/fame instead of being a *true* hero.
Villain's really freaking cool. I love how he doesn't just kill whenever, and instead seems to want to make sure heroes live up to the standard of what he believes heroes should be. It's kinda like that whole, evil needs good to exist.

Absolutely agreed. He's one hell of an anti-villain as seen in the latest chapter.

Not to surprised, Endeavor's principles seem questionable by normal standards. The hero killer certainly doesnt only have normal standards.
This reminds me a lot of Naruto before the timeskip. The way he portrays a group of young growing people instead of only one-three characters with already developed goals and characteristics, the inherently different abilities, the rivalries and personal backstories, the tweak of a common theme, the tactical fights, all that made Naruto really good is here as well. I hope the author can keep that high level of quality and doesnt overpower deku.

I wonder what Stain's reaction will be when he learns about how the villain alliance made him into a symbol. He'll probably go on a rampage against them. The villains in the last page look interesting-the guy cosplaying as stain and the yandere girl especially.

i wonder if hed really care
hes not against people being "heros" and "villains" as long as they actually deserve the title
he might actually consider them even more proper villains for using him like for a dastardly plan

It all really depends on their purpose. If the villains have some sort of creed he'll probably accept it. If they are just motivated by a wanton desire for power, then they are one of the prime targets of his purge.
Shows that he has a strong attachment to being a hero, so that lowers the chance of a cliche'd "childhood rival friend changes sides and becomes the archvillain that the main character is forced to fight/have a fateful mortal showdown with" outcome. Still some possibility due to his focus on winning, but whatever.
He's also working with Deku, at some level, which should help steer him away from excessive Vegeta-syndrome as well.
I don't think that'll work against All Might. Will Bakugou get even more angry because of that? Still at least he's shown that he cares more about winning than anything.

i think to him winning is a side effect of being a hero, he cares about being a great hero like all might and heros always in no matter what so by winning he shows that hes a great hero

Beginning of the chapter is hilarious. What are baku and todoroki even trying to do with their barrels of water? Baku trying to make explosions underwater while todoroki is trying to obtain the perfect hot spring temperature?
I was almost positive All Might was gonna die this week or at least some time soon. I guess he might survive though and just lose all his power to go full teaching mode.

its been implyed pretty heavily that when he loses all his power hes gonna die
So both Deku and Shigaraki need to carry their master's legacy now. I wonder if other villains will surface due to the Symbol of Peace no longer being there.
I think Deku will learn how to harden his body. He's too frail to use A41 the way he is now. So look for him to do what All Might does and increase body mass to handle the stress of the power. That, or he gets a suit made that corrects the power output while simultaneously not killing him.

i think its more about ability, All Might can use it so well that his body literally swells with power
i think the more Deku uses his full body 5% that he can manage now the more hell be able to creep up higher and higher

On a more serious note though, good chaps, can live with AM living, didn't think I could. Good stuff.

I like his acceptance of the answer of All Might without pushing further. Great chapter imo. Wish we see them meet more parents. As for Midoriya's mom, it makes me wonder if he'll reveal to her that he passed on his quirk to him so he will be taking his place and protect the peace. It's the only possible way that I can see the mom being ok with him moving to the dorms.

prob because of the incredible distraction of multiple large scale villain assaults, seems like UA focuses more on the quirk then other schools
loved this latest chapter. Things are finally heating up! Wonder how + Show Spoiler +
they'll suppress the attack while simultaneously containing the rescue. Maybe some kind of barrier around the injured with a small tag that continues the rest (something like one hero to support, one to carry injured etc...) and rest to suppress villains.

That`s one problem with reading by chapter. If we had a bunch of chapters in one sitting, that`d be fine. However, each chapter has to end with something happening, or leading to the next, or a cliffhanger, etc, to keep the reader looking forward to the next chapter. Having a single chapter dedicated to this relationship while there are a ton of other characters who haven't really done anything yet probably wouldn't go over very well for a lot of readers. Also, the pace breaks down quite a bit when you go for flashbacks, and this is a pretty intense few chapters, where bits of character growth are taking place very quickly and happening alongside the action.

in the middle of an extremely important test and they all sit down and have a group therapy meeting?

If Mineta passed I'm pretty sure Bakugou passed, we actually saw him do something.

the test punishes people who fuck up, not people who dont as long as he helped the rescue efforts without fucking up he passed in that vein it could be considered much easier then round one
Results weren't surprising in the least. As mentioned, so long as you try and help and don't cause any damage/put the people being rescued at risk, you should pass.
Finally, he knows! Been waiting for a while to see it happen. Wonder how much farther it'll spread and how things will change now that their emotions were put out there in the fight.
Wants him to work with "sir", most likely, who is apparently All Might's former sidekick. Villains vs villains, damn, sorry Magne. Compression losing an arm... Nerfed.
It was pretty amazing. This last chapter though, The way they ended and the explanation suffices, but it still left a lot to be desired. Not enough action between them. I think Midoriya needs to learn some more martial arts or something. He just shoots around and doesn't really fight.

itd be alot more important for him to master his quirk though, he can get to Saitama levels of strength

How many of you are reading/watching BNHA? im actually quite surprised that its not popular on TL since it has been legit #2 for quite time. Also worth to mention that the chapters have been consistently good.
It hasn't progressed much from that to be honest. There's a good couple of fights with Deku and Endeavor. But nothing earth shattering like that fight you mentioned and All for One. It's mostly character building at the moment.
Endeavor's fight was extremely important, for his character (and his family) and Hawks, along with demonstrating the threat the League of Villains could pose. It also showed a sort of passing of the torch from All Might in society's eyes.
Deku getting a new move was pretty important, and Bakugou/Todoroki both grew quite a bit during their hero license exams.

Don't watch the dub. Whatever you do, don't watch the dub. There were moments of really bad animation, but a good amount of the action was pretty good. The plot was decent (albeit containing some really nonsensical shit) and the villain was pretty good for a movie villain. The situation felt tense. I'd give it a 5 or 6 out of 10, where 5 is average.
