12.03.2011 - July moves on to the finals of GSL March Code S to face MC after beating anypro 3-1 in a decisive match.
08.03.2011 - July beats NaDa in the Ro8 of GSL. MC in his interview predicted to meet the winner of that match in the finals. July will now play the winner of Lyn vs. anypro in the semi-finals.
Open 6 pool, win game. So epic. Amazing and unpredicatble player. He has changed my ZvT style after seeing the MVP games. I almost always open his open now. Very effective, prevent early pressure on you, and if they go banshee or fast expansion you will almost insta win everytime. After seeing his ZvP he has a chance vs MC. JULY FIGHTING!!!

or you could make the pun that he is shaking the groud cause he is the god of war and his war drums make the ground shake. or maybe just his godly presence. something pun like that refers to him being the god of war.
I've been a huge fan throughout the season, I not surprised at all he made it this far.
The moment he picked MC into his group with MVP, I instantly became a fan. So many people thought he was crazy, but July knew exactly what he was doing.

I dunno about that. I'm a giant July fan, but it seems to me that he just underestimated MC and would have been knocked straight out if he wasn't the biggest baller Zerg on the planet.
Sign me up, he's the reason I play Zerg after all after watching him stomp face in SC1, so happy when he switched, and now that's he's playing where he should be. July Fighting!
Lol july a freestyle pro? I guess he going for a ATW or maybe a TATW here... and yet he maybe just trying to hit it over the net... what do you all think?
July had amazing micro. I almost thought that he was going to hold the push on metalopolis. I can't wait to see his micro in HoTS, when zerg gets units that can be micro'd to a greater extent. I really want to see him playing with his "new style". Perhaps that style is revolutionary, and nobody got to see it :'(. Looking forward to seeing more of his play in the future!
Big ups to the Big Zerg. Seeing his play take quantum leaps is a real treat, going from his zany GSL Open seasons to the refined drone machine he's becoming is really amazing.
Sign me up for this group, July is my favorite Z. SOOO aggressive and split second decisions with zero second guessing. Love it. Makes me inspired to play better.

I really enjoyed July's run through this MLG (and I especially loved following his game times through the Open Brackets, heh). Here's to seeing him participate in many more foreign tourneys in the future!
Thanks Milkis! :D July seemed to genuinely enjoy the stay. I'm sure he can do even better next MLG and take the national championship. Hopefully MLG-GSL cooperation means there will be no scheduling conflicts.
Also, if the new header is terrible, tell me. I have no capabilities of judging my own "work".

together with boxer, nada and nestea, july is the one i want to see in internationalen tournament gogo JULY next month is your time to win =)
Sign me up been a huge July fan. I went to MLG Columbus and he signed my mousepad and wristband for the event. Pretty much topped off an amazing experience.
Sign me up, July has such a unique crazy style that´s always fun to watch. It was great to see him at MLG and I hope he will come to more international events.
I really think July has been treated very unfair this code-S. Sure Rain didn't play, so the others got free wins, all sounds fair? Maybe, but if doesn't feel fair at all when 2 out of 3 players in a pool get a free win and 1 doesn't. A much better option would have been if they had the next best code-a player replace Rain and the next best code-b player replaced that code-a player?

This is just absolutely amazing. Nobody plays zerg like july, he is the MAN of all men. Nobody even comes close to his aggressive style. When he loses, it feels that he didnt really lose, he just made a mistake. When other zergs loses, its devestating.

July is a player who plays 2gate, 4gt and 6gt as zerg. In other words, he is a protoss playing zerg. Which, if you know the SC lore at all, is the most powerful combination.
Why I, as a protoss user, like July so much? Cuz, when this guy is playing zerg, the race doesnt look like a swarm of cunts trying to beat you by throwing minerals at you. No, when he's playing, zerg look like the unstoppable force of nature we all know they are.
Wanna know a secret?
When July and MC were playing in the GSL finals, even as a fanatical MC follower I couldnt enjoy his wins, because it was July he had to go through. For me, it was a lose:lose proposition.
July maybe on the opposite side, but in my eyes, he as a protoss at heart. So sign me the hell up!

I really hope July destroys MVP. Baneling busts him a couple of times, and wins convincingly. That would be poetic justice for what MVP has done today.
Saying how 111 is imbalanced and dishonorable, and taking a moral high ground, but playing 1 base all in with marines and tanks twice vs Huk. Such a fucking douchebag.
July, plz, plz, plz baneling bust this terran abuser.

I really need to be in this fan club, July truly is the God of War.
Just watched the first game and July is almost shocking me with his controlled agression, knowing exactly when to apply heavy pressure and being able to always inflict damage.
LOL how can you flame people for "cheesing", i didnt see the huk vs mvp games, but obviously his goal is to win the GSL how he gets there doesnt matter imo. Also Glad to see july doing well :D
Sign me up for this- July is one of the most enjoyable players to watch in all of SC2, in my opinion. He displays a remarkable understanding of the game state, figuring out when he's earned a slight advantage, and then turning that slight advantage into a crushing one by rallying wave after wave of units into the breach.
July is like watching an avalanche. Superbly fun to watch, and I play terran. Sign me up. I love his style of "this is my time to attack and I am not going to stop until you are dead or I am dead."
Must love July, nobody has such instinctual play as this guy. I think its one reason his ZvT is so nasty, they are so secretive the better your instincts the more beneficial for ya.
Didn't want to buy Gom season ticket this season because I can't afford too many tournaments and I choose Nasl instead, to support them and because I didn't like the Korean boycot at all.
But I couldn't cope with not seeing July, so I bought Gom ticket too lol
July's style of zerg is really fun to watch and his tactical sense is unrivalled (well maybe Mvp also shows the same level of tactical strategies as july). I cant imagine how much of a beast he will be once he starts using creep as well as the other top zerg players!
July has his military service soon sadly ;_;. Also sign me up I guess I actually changed my SC2 name to JuneZerg in tribute to him (Even though I don't play zerg leads to lots of confusion on ladder).
so sad to hear abaut retirement, hope he can win a title in SC2 before he retires, would be so nice for him to go out like a champ, ofc being the first to win 3 osl titles as zerg is nice but some sc2 title would be nice aswell
He is talking about that coaching people in Europe is something he could think of doing after the military, hope ST blooms so that something like that could happen, would be awesome
His finals v Best got me into broodwar and teamliquid in general. Sad to see such an entertaining player retire from esports but let's hope it's just a temporary retirement =)
Ridiculously awesome that July is streaming. Hope he continues this.
Btw, do you guys think there's any chance of getting a (fairly recent) replay pack of July? Would like to try out if his style of play suits me better than the more macro oriented kind which I'm leaning towards at the moment. Thanks.
hello july fanclub, i watched his stream today and went to a mall afterwards. along the way i couldn't help but think of all the joy he's brought to the zerg race since his early days, and that is an understatement, there is evidently been a lot he's done.
during the stream tho` i was fanboying (obviously, or why would i be here and now? ;D) and lagging pretty badly because of my computer and how i treat it; i still attribute all of it to julyzerg though.. making me lag through his intense APMS, yeye.
so the moment i hopped on the stream-chat and had watched july lose a game, i thought, 'blasphemy..' and alluded to the jr.wheat incident with july. 'JULY! NO CRY!!!' and right away he responds, ': )... ok... no cry!' (shortly afterwards some guy named steph___ goes and suggests, 'do a 26 pool')
people geniunely try to make fun of july for being big, but they don't know how big july actually is. his heart in general, for his fans, and his heart for the game is massive.
so. just to restate fanboism: JULY NO.1 (tied with boxer and reach and..nada.. and yeah you know what i mean)

July's style is macro oriented (most of the time...) but it's more aggressively macro-based than others. You'll see him macro up to a point and then start his unrelenting attacks.

I wouldn't say it's macro oriented per se. For example: getting 50-60 drones doesn't make a build macro oriented, however it makes it more economical, but not macro oriented. it can still be highly aggressive.
My definition of macro oriented is obviously not the same as yours but I don't think his style is macroish just because he makes a bunch of drones, do you know what i mean? It's still very aggresive and in my opinion not macro oriented.
Edit: Then of course, sometimes even July plays macro oriented but mostly he does not, and he's been known for that for quite some time now
I hope this is still being updated, I would have signed up instantly had I known of it before. I'd love to see July make it to the competition level of code S again.
AWESOME JOB! July back in Code S, seriously someone needs to make sure that the Korean army starts a SC2 team, too many good players are gonna retire if they dont do this.
I thought he was going to do his military service soon? I guess he is still going to play for another year? Anyways really happy is back in Code S. JulyZerg needs more love! Fighting!
I was wondering about something. In the last couple of Up & Down matches July goes 10 lord. I'm so curious why. It's proven faster to go 9 lord, most every pro does that, why does July play that different?
Also, if 9 lord is faster, it also has the advantage your overlord is out faster to scout. Curious what you think.
Against Happy I don't see how it makes sense. However, vs BoxeR he uses the 10th drone to scout. Could it be that's the reason? After all, if doing it this way you have your scout out earlier while still having 9 drones mining. With the same timing, a 9 lord would mean 8 drones mining..
If my idea is right, it means we should really consider the option of going 10 lord when we intend to drone scout.
It doens't explain everything though. Vs Happy, Supernova & Creator he does a 10 lord without drone scout. So what would be the advantage then?

Basically the mineral difference is about the same in 9o and 10o. But going 10 lord will delay your larvae for a few seconds (since your hatch will not spawn more larvae if the larvae count is 3 or above).
BUT this lose of larvae might be irrelevant if you are going for a 15 hatch, 14 pool as July did against happy and supernova. Against Creator july went 13 pool, 15 hatch.
The reason is that while building the 15 hatch and 14 pool for a total of 500minerals you don't have any minerals for drones, so you couldn't use that extra larvae anyway. So going 10overlord actually just mean that you want to get out your buildings faster.
But actually this is not very unusual. I've seen plenty 10ov lately by Koreans(sometimes with extractortrick). Watch leenock ect.

Hey Napoleon, thank you for the explanation. One thing I didn't understand: "So going 10overlord actually just mean that you want to get out your buildings faster."
Why does it mean you can get your buildings out faster?
As I see it, there is no advantage of going 10overlord. But if you want out your buildings a little faster then there is no real disadvantage as well.
If you go 10overlord then you are kinda forced into making the buildings faster (because you lose larvae = possibility of going drones)
So the answer is "no". You don't get out your buildings faster. But when going 10overlord, then you are forced into it.
I'm not a 100% sure though. Its very technical, and if there is an advantage or disadvantage i bet it is VERY small. I kinda think Julyzerg dosn't really care, or just do it, because he wants people to be confused.

actually it's not technical at all. Don't remember who said it but 10 overlord, 9 overlord, extractor trick etc are all just personal preference. I am sure I read this in Nestea interview or some other amazing zerg but yea, there is a difference, just that the pro zergs goes for the ones that they like
July showed some realy good games today - He'd still some mistakes, but overall he'd a realy great job. I'm happy that he improved his ZvZ alot and his ZvT looks good too.
My thoughts, he'll go far this season in code S and he realy deserve it!
I re-watched the replays and I was really impressed by July's macro, he maxed out so quickly. He even spred creep! He seems to have really improve his play (or just decided to play better). His muta micro is still amazing! I really hope he can go far
I normally never wanted to join a player fan club, but please sign me up for this one.
I'm so happy he improved and performed well in Code S, because he's just such a nice, decent and generally awesome person! That combined with his action packed playstyle and the oldschoolness just makes him my favorite player by FAR. When he manages to win it all or a big foreign event in the future i'll break out in tears of happiness and my screams shall torment my neighbours!
I was lucky enough to meet July at IPL4.... here is a brief and awkward interview I did with him as I think we had trouble communicating. Still, love that man.

yep. I PM:ed the ST EU Manager (2 months ago... TT):
James Banks Hello Nebulosa,
I honestly love these messages! Not enough people do it but I love reading them, you guys are so passionate. I know July has not streamed much recently but we are hoping to do very well in the GSTL and July for his individual leagues.
We hope to bring July to some events outside of Korea again this year before his has to go to the army as well as have him stream more but you most likely won't see him stream more until after the GSL.
Please keep cheering for July and the others and I will hopefully have them streaming soon, once he wins GSL
Best Regards,
James Banks StarTale EU Manager
I really really wish July would stream more... his stream is one of the most watchable out there and he was nice to the viewers aswell... ^-^
EDIT: The message was sent while July was in Code S last season
@NebuLoSa: Thanks for the update. I really do hope he can go out in the blaze of glory before leaving for the military. Someone like Julyzerg has to go out in style.
Hold on guys. What the goddamn shit. He only has like 3,300 followers on Twitter. God damnit. I'm pretty sure this is him, announcing when he streams, etc.: https://twitter.com/#!/StartaleJuly
Everyone go follow him. It's the goddamn GOD OF WAR. He plays Starcraft unlike any other player in the world and the fact that he is un-replicatable while being top-tier is truly incredible.
Listen. Ok guys. What in the goddamn shit. What in THE GODDAMN SHIT. What the sweet fucking SHIT.
Do you guys like watching JulyZerg play Starcraft2? Do you like watching the fuck-fucking GOD OF FUCKING WAR bring an "oh my god he's baneling busting when he only has four drones left" strategy upon his victims so viciously that even when they see it coming they are completely helpless against it? Do you like watching fucking TUSHIN him-fucking-self unleash wave after wave of bloodshed and carnage no matter the stage he is on, whether it's the ladder or the GSL FUCKING FINALS?
I know you fucking do. You know how I know? Because you're reading the JulyZerg Fanclub. Except if you just saw it was fucking bumped on the side of your TeamLiquid homepage. Even then, sit down and let me fucking tell you something.
This goddamn LEGEND has to go off to kick ass for his country in less than a year (fucking pray we don't fucking piss of South Korea in that time). He knows this. There's nothing our support for him can do to change that, but you know what our support CAN do? It can show him fucking how badly everyone on this goddamn earth wants him to fucking crush dicks on the battlefield of Starcraft 2.
When I made the above post, he had 3,300 followers EXACTLY on Twitter. Now he has 3,306. Only fucking SIX of you joined in the war band since then? You might be asking: "Sphen, what the fuck does Twitter have to do with this" SHUT YOUR GODDAMN FACE.
I'll tell you what it fucking meaans. Imagine what JulyZerg would think when he fucking hops on Twitter tomorrow morning after a night of dreaming of cries for mercy, and sees he just suddenly gained a fucking thousand followers. Then over the course of the week five thousand. What do you think that's gonna do to him mentally? You think it's gonna give him indigestion or some shit? NO. It's going to show him that his worshipers (we are NOT just fans) want nothing more in their time on this earth than to watch July Dom-ifucking-nate.
I'm pleading with you guys. I don't even play zerg. I play protoss. But What JulyZerg plays isn't zerg. Or rather, no one besides JulyZerg actually plays Zerg(notice the capitalization). I want to see him crush. I want to see one of the most seasoned and accomplished e-athletes in the entire goddamn world bring us carnage and victory before he goes off to the military. I want to do all I can to give him signs he can see of our support for him.
FOLLOW HIM ON TWITTER. Do something! Let him see that we do not think he is an afterthought. That his battle prowess is NOT a myth from the days past. It is FACT. It is LEGEND. It is WAR.

Came into this fanclub expecting the usual "Woo sign me up" and got this.
He's probably preparing for the army. Just hope we'll see him again for legacy of the void. Some army training might do him some good and i'm hoping for a fresh and eager julyzerg in 2 years. He's still young enough for that imo.
July, people call jaedong the best zerg of all time, for me you always will be that. You are the person who got me viewing progames and made my jaw drop in awe so many times after.

JD is maybe the best regarding results, July is still the most impressive zerg.
Doctor Džuli aka July, man. Great performer for so many years. If army thing is true, I want to see him asap on some major tournament before he leaves.

I don't think we will. T-T Khaldor said just now on the Code S Group Selection that July has retired when he was talking about Life in the ST house.
If I never get to see July playing StarCraft again I don't know what to do.....
I really think the army will help him though Sadly there's no ACE to go to, but if he does come back afterwards, I have a feeling he'll be stronger than before (especially if he has to do extensive fitness training)

Wait, I thought he was in the military this whole time... Wasn't that the reason for his temporary retirement? So what exactly was he doing for 10 months?

I thought so too. I've no idea. I'll just secretly always hope for a comeback in HotS...... We need you July.
It's possible that Bomber's english is just flawed, and that by saying "July will go military soon," he means that July will be leaving the military soon

Military service is I think two years? so that's probably not very likely unfortunately T.T
He went to military at 30th March. I think their military time is 1 year and a half. I would love to believe July comes back to gaming after he finishes military like BoxeR, but we will see.
Hi everyone! does anyone have any update on the state of July`s military service? like when its over? would love to see his hyper aggressive style again (really needed when everyone plays so greedy now days )
on another note about a year or two ago someone had posted a set of cool Starcraft 2 wallpapers and one of them was a image with July, all i remember of it is that it had a red background and that it was really freaking awesome, anyone here know where to find it or maybe has it saved on their computer?
I was looking on Youtube trying to find the complete Gillette OSL semi-finals of July vs Oov. So far I can only find a couple of the games. Anybody have any links or suggestions of channels which would have the full series?
