Updates & news NEW! 8/4: Won GSL Super Tournament 4-3 against Dark in a nail biting series!
Flash is like : "But but ... I'm supposed to be the king..." Stats : "Get out scrub, I'm the Baws !"
life growth spurt into looking like hitman. all part of the plan.
Well, I like his hair way more now. As usual KT most handsome KT.
Yeah he seems like he's been working out with Zest. Pretty awesome that so many of my favorite players are on the same team :D
I can see Zest telling Life you can't succeed in KT until you take the swag path of working out and fixing your hair, as this was the case for himself
Now if somehow Rain ends up on KT and recaptures his form. I guess that would be too many protoss though.
No room for another good Protoss on KT. Plus Rain is part of SKT's legacy, it'd be too odd if he joined us. I'd rather have him rejoin SKT to continue the rivalry :D
Honestly I didn't like the choice of Stats over Flash. JinAir had 4 fresh games from yesterday to study, and Stats might need to catch some rest before playing again. Also I think he needed more time to build up his confidence from the AK, but now he might be in a lower low instead (you hit the ground harder when you fall from higher)...
In reality I'm probably wrong but I love to play the armchair coach

I just think sending a toss vs Maru is not the best plan. Stats is pretty good in PvT usually, but i think the matchup is very volatile cause toss is just that dependant on the colossus. I don't think Stats will be in a low though :D KT still best KT!

I think he will beat ByuL. Maru definitely not and Zest should have learned something from their last encounter. Though group.

Well, he lost 2 games to hydra/speed bane timings and 1 to a 2-base ling/roach all-in. 3 of his wins were basically solid macro games and in game 7 he defended against a ling/queen all-in on Ulrena.
Basically, he didn't do anything unusual at all, which I guess is the nature of PvZ atm. No new approach or anything. I'm not convinced he's good enough to beat Dark though. Because Dark is just gonna exploit any opening he can find. He's got 7 more games to study now, too.

A Hydralisks/Banelings timing? Strange composition. I must see those games.
And yeah, I thought it was strange seeing Protoss beat Zerg on Ulrena and Lerilak Crest.

Solar did it on Dusk Towers (where it failed spectacularly and he had to attempt to macro out of it with lurkers and such) aswell as Prion Terraces and Ruins of Seras, where it worked out. It was kinda cool.
On Lerilak they just played a standard macro game. I think they spawned cross map though which ended up helping Stats.
As a side note, even if he doesn't win S2SL, Stats has a great shot at making Blizzcon this year.
My hope is that all 3 main KT guys go to BlizzCon this year, but it's only a dream atm thanks to Blizzard. (But seriously, in their current form, they deserve it)
I'm still sad that last year the MERS outbreak prevented them from using their planned stage at the Han River. It was such a good venue for the 2014 PL finals
Ah yeah i already forgot about that. I think i read that the venue has around 2000 seats, i hope a lot of people show up for KT vs SKT Whoever wins also gets a direct blizzcon seed, crazy :D
Fun fact, Stats, herO and Zest have near identical win rates in Proleague. They're different by less than .1%. I think there's only 1 player in Proleague who has a better all-time record than those 3 while playing the same amount of Proleague seasons in SC2 (that being sOs).
Stats is right up there with some all-time greats, yet he gets overlooked more than most. If only he ever managed to win any substantial individual title
I have liked Stats more and more during the season, I hope he will continue with his good results in individual leagues and team-league this year, it's about time he gets some love <3

He almost always goes first because he's Stats. Foolish me, I thought Stats would lose a game and voted 4-1 in the LR thread yesterday.
Also did TY have a growth spurt recently? I don't recall him being that much taller than everyone else on the team

Granted, I think Stats is about as tall as him and he's not standing upright for comparison, but TY looks gigantic compared to the others. Except Trust I guess.

I'm pretty sure Zest is taller than TY, he probably looks tall because Zest is bending his knee to carry Stats
I predicted that KT would win but damn I didn't expect Stats to all kill

From that, it looks like from shortest to tallest: SpeeD, Leenock, jjakji, Losira, TY, Zest (Zest and TY look like they're nearly the same height), Stats, Trust.
On June 11 2016 22:36 Silvana wrote: I just checked the results!!! glad to see he started being trusted the ace match again
I don't understand why he almost never gets the ace match tbh. He's super reliable and in Proleague he's basically got no nerves. He's played 1 ace match per season for 4 consecutive seasons now (and he won all 4 of them).
He probably has it in his contract that he has to get 1 ace match per season, otherwise he wouldn't even get the few ones he does
It makes sense they don't send Stats because KT supposedly sends the player who's doing better on practice, and Stats supposedly always overperforms outside practice.
So today we learn that Stats is also doing well in practice, or that KT changed to a more results-oriented selection method. Yay in both cases!
On June 11 2016 22:52 Phredxor wrote: Not that surprising. Considering how often they continued sending out Flash when he clearly wasn't the best player on KT.
Well, he played 0 ace matches in 2015 when he was really doing poorly. In 2014 and 2012-2013 you could basically always justify Flash as ace because he was a top player in Proleague. So it's not like they're completely braindead when it comes to ace matches

Well Stats said he still loses a lot of games in practice, so...
Also at the start of the season I think Zest said that the team decides the ace on the day the games are played.
I wish the foreign casters in Korea would finally stop sleeping on Stats. He only got foreign 1 vote against sOs. Artosis wrote an ESPN article about how Maru needs to win GSL and which players who could get in his way. Not a single mention of Stats in the entire thing (but he mentions sOs, Impact and Patience).
It's like a conspiracy where they don't acknowledge that Stats is actually better than most players they like to rave on about.

Which is kinda funny because I (or anyone who pays attention tbh) would argue that Stats is at least better than Zest at PvZ, and maybe PvP (not quite sure about this), he's probably the second best Protoss after Zest or maybe even the best
last years i could understand somehow why nobody saw stats no great individual results but this year with the ssl runner up and later the revange at the crossfinals and the second best proleague record after maru well and pls sign me up
Stats is destined to be another under appreciated toss like Classic.

Just read that article. Think Artosis got his stats wrong. Said Maru is 17-3, so presumably he's including playoff wins/losses since we all know he's only lost one map in regular season. But Maru is 20-3. And Stats is 23-6.
Even more sad that he doesn't get a mention. Especially when he mentions Impact and Patience :/

Yeah but Classic got over it eventually.
He probably wrote that article when Maru was 17-3 and didn't update it before it came out or something. And yes, Stats is the only player in Proleague with a comparable record. And he doesn't even get a passing mention.

According to Artosis, the moment he truly recognized Classic as a great Protoss was when he won IEM Shenzhen.

with the weakness of zest in pvz stats could be the best and most solid protoss right now but he plays not flashy and the foreign casters would perhaps put him not even in the top 5
KT players all losing form just in time for PL finals. Fantastic.
Stats will probably just keep on winning in PL and SSL as he always does.
I really hope so but jesus did he look bad those last games. Hopefully just got on tilt for some reason or other.
It had to have been. Attacking before resonating glaives the first game? Messing up all of his multitasking in the second game? That just wasn't like Stats. Not like the one we're used to seeing, at any rate. Had to have been his evil twin GSL-Stats taking over.

We'll see how the boys look on Sunday.
Yeah I guess you're right. Especially considering he still looked solid as ever in his first match up against Cure.
I'm still pretty sad about this because he's been looking so incredible recently and this could have been his season. But thankfully Stats is basically locked for Blizzcon and still in SSL.
If he drops off in Proleague KT is in some shit though. Kind of like last year in round 4 when Stats suddenly wasn't doing as well anymore and KT lost 3 straight matches with only Zest taking maps. That kind of shit.
Without Zest and Stats struggling in GSL I would have said KT is gonna win this round of Proleague for sure.

In his first two games against Cure he looked brilliant. In his next two games against MyuNgSiK, he started looking worse than usual. And then in the final two games against Cure he looked like he was playing tilted, he made completely absurd mistakes and looked nothing like the Stats who's been playing in the past few months.
On July 21 2016 20:06 Phredxor wrote: Stats through first in SSL. Didn't see Bomber games but he stomped Dear into the dirt.
First two games were quite sloppy (and he could have lost both tbh), 3rd game he stomped Bomber harder than he did Dear. SSL is still Stats territory I guess, this was a stronger group than his SSL one.
So Stats goes first in all-kill again, pretty much as expected.
Well I would have liked to watch it but ESL has them play the Proleague match 5 hours earlier than Proleague usually starts. Which is in the middle of the night for me right now. So that sucks. Gotta have faith then, I guess.
I wonder how they manage to have their heights be so inconsistent in every picture. Sometimes Stats is the tallest, sometimes it's Trust, sometimes Zest and TY are the same height, sometimes Zest is taller.
At least Leenock is always the shortest. Also as you can see Leenock is no longer blonde. And KT travel like progamers while Jin Air travel like tourists.

They'll probably both play the part. KT skipped TB's Shoutcraft event to prepare for this, if their nerves don't fuck 'em they should be ready.
This time i think KT will win, but i liquibeted KT every single time and it never was the right choice...^^ TY needs to step up a little and we should have it.
If Stats could win the first 2 maps that would be huge. I'm worried because KT is really bad at breaking Jin Air's momentum in all-kill. I'm concerned they'll throw away players against Maru or sOs again.
Also if Stats loses map 1 we're pretty much done, it would take a great day of either Zest or TY to get enough wins against Maru/Rogue/sOs. I mean realistically our 4th player will get 1 win max so we can't really live with Stats getting 0.

Yeah agreed. If Maru comes out send Zest right away, don't throw anyone else at him and let him get momentum. I guess we need to have TY for Rogue and Losira/Leenock for some silly snipe build which will almost undoubtedly fail.

I mean i think it's cool and the trip is short enough for sure. But still he has to win against Mind, apparently supporting his ex team mates is more important to him (which i am ok with)

He has accepted he'll never advance past a RO16 in a Starleague ever again.
His KeSPA Cup group is kinda shitty. Opening match against Solar, Trap and MarineLorD also in the group (yes I know, MLorD is a foreigner, but Stats messes up against Terrans a lot). And Trap qualified with a pretty hard bracket, 2-0 vs Dear, 2-0 vs Ryung is nothing to scoff at.
Stats couldn't even qualify for Leifeng Cup, he lost to Stork and Solar, I think he's pretty happy he got into KeSPA Cup via Proleague
The really sad thing though was when the host asked him how he manages to resist all the great restaurants surrounding their teamhouse. To which Stats said "I don't have many friends so I don't go to eat that often."
Oh man I wish he would have drew Patience despite him being a first seed! Well... I still have hopes. After all, Maru has looked very off in individuals this year.

Jumping on Stats bandwagon. I tend to cheer for who is considered the best protoss of that time, and it seems Stats is the one right now. Odd enough, every time I make this jump the player slumps endlessly.
Happened with Genius, MC, Dear, Parting, Hero, and recently Zest.
I hope if Stats were to slump he does that after 2016 WCS finals.
I am expecting a 3-0 victory against Neeb today.
ps. wait, Stats lost to Stork 10 days ago lol is there a hope?

It's so confusing. He keeps saying he hates PvZ but even then he's probably the best PvZ player in Korea. Also he keeps throwing away tournament games against Terran after getting really far ahead but on ladder PvT is his best match-up.
As i already said in the LR thread, Stats played that defense on Dasan incredibly decisive. As soon one of the two disruptors shot he blinked on the other knowing it would secure him the engagement. Then also focused the warp prism into an easy win. If he can play like that (clutch) vs Byun he should win it. Still think that Dark is the big favorite though

Stats being clutch in PvT almost never happens :S
He's great at getting ahead but he also gives his leads away more easily than for example Zest.
Dark will be the favorite as long as he is in the tournament. It never mattered against who, either.

Well dependign on his game vs Neeb i would have maybe changed my view, but yeah no need to do that now. And yeah sure Stats has problems with PvT sometimes, hard to say anything for sure though, Byun didn't look good against showtime.

Prepare yourself for maximum levels of circlejerk.
I would ignore the circlejerk normally but I can't help but notice that circlejerk fulfillment was achieved by ByuN beating my favorite players of each race.
Was rooting for Stats the whole time. I can't say I'm not disappointed by that ro4 - even if he didn't end up winning, I expected him to put up more of a fight.
Disapointments aside, he's come really far this year and I'll always be a fan of his. Hoping we would see him again next year.
Though I personally don't feel happy about it because ByuN's win seems to encapsulate the collapse of the Korean system. In the Korean community, there seems to be some bitterness about TvZ balance and ByuN's history, but no major objections overall.

I second this The "One Man Army" narrative doesn't really sit well with me since it's like celebrating the collapse of the Korean system, and in the Finals, Dark was actually the teamless one and not ByuN.

Same. Not to mention, for me personally his playstyle is aggravating. If you like him that's fine. I can understand why he's popular and he puts more effort into the game than anyone else, but yea, I'm not a fan.
Does Stat ever stream? Since KT dissolved I hope he does some streaming for a source of income. We have had TOP terran players streaming but no top protosses since MC like 5 years ago...
4 wins in Kings is pretty good, Dark, Neeb, Snute and GuMiho is a pretty good lineup of players to beat. Shame about that loss at the end but he'll probably be back next time anyway.
Really glad he made it. At least not all of my favorite players got eliminated. Not sure about his chances against Maru though. Maru will probably cheese him.

Remember KeSPA Cup? The cheese games were the ones that went well for Stats. He had huge trouble in macro games though.
Completely forgot about that series. He also seemed to have a bit of trouble against Innovation today in the macro games. I know he won the macro game on Echo but he got ripped apart by the multiple drops on Daybreak. Hopefully he plays better tomorrow.
Stats had absolutely no chance whatsoever in the finals. Literally at no point throughout the series, except perhaps one tiny window in game 3, did he look like he could scratch INnoVation.
Sad Stats lost, but INnoVation was the unstoppable force meant to win the tournament from the start. Never expected Stats to beat him, but it would have been nice if it had been a good series, maybe 4-2 or something.
He has a pretty big mental block against Terran from what I see on his stream tbh. He goes into the matches on low confidence and it gets worse every time something goes wrong.
Yeah some of the games aren't even close. He played Innovation 2 or 3 times earlier today on stream and he just got shrekt. I know a lot of protoss are having trouble in the matchup but his problems with the matchup seem to go a lot deeper than that. Like even Zest is probably better in PvT. That's how awful Stats is against Terran.

Olimoleague makes it look that way too. ByuN played 5 Protoss in a row yesterday. Trust, Zest and Billowy each won a map. Stats and Hurricane didn't.
The best Protoss in the world should probably do better than Hurricane.

In overall or PvT? I would say herO's PvP and PvZ is questionable compared to Stats
I think in PvT herO might be the best in the world (I haven't really watched Classic's stream enough to know how he does against Terran) but yeah, his PvP and PvZ seem kind of vulnerable. And Stats' PvZ is basically as good as it gets.
I swear if Stats went through all this trouble (beating Ryung, ByuN, INnoVation and having a decent showing vs TY),only to lose to Ryung in the semis I'll lose my shit.

Haha yeah i thought so Well Ryung might surprise some people, but yeah i think Stats should win
Stats should be good. Ryung's execution isn't as good as TY's (especially in the late game). The biggest threat are probably tank pushes on certain maps. But Stats just looked too good this tournament to lose to Ryung.
On March 06 2017 05:30 Cricketer12 wrote: Stats in my mind still had the best performance of the tournament. He played so unimaginably well.
I agree. I'm not a fan of Stats or anything but can't deny his very solid performance against every race really. For a PvT matchup, with this current patch, T always has an edge and Stats manages to perform very well. That's as good as it gets for a Protoss. It is just so unfortunate for Stats that he always comes very close (sometimes too close like this IEM) and still can't close it out to a top spot. I actually rooted for him vs TY but I guess he has to try another time.
He has a decent shot at the GSL trophy, but either sOs or soO would be tough opponents. soO's ZvP is better than Dark's and he will have beaten Classic and sOs to get to the finals. Also Hydras+Corruptors should be buffed by then. sOs is sOs.

soO will have shown most of his builds, and frankly I don't think soO's ZvP is as good as what Dark showed in the first two games against Stats today. The hydra/corruptor buffs play into it a bit, but Stats is pretty light on the carrier play anyway and soO doesn't strike me as someone who likes late game.
sOs biggest strength is getting into his opponent's head. His play isn't very impressive this season.
Dark pulled out the stops in the first two games, but I think soO can match that level of play given what he's shown in GSL. Haven't seen much of him vs skytoss though. The buffs of course will help regardless.
Every time I write off sOs the dude wins another trophy. Underestimating him is probably a bad idea imo. After all, TY's mechanics are inferior to Stats's. He won because he played smarter.
Frankly I think Stats had a much better run in the whole IEM than TY, taking out two 2016 Blizzcon finalists as the sole Protoss in RO8 in such a clean and solid fashion is way more impressive than that of TY's. However TY the smart terran conceived two unique builds to counter adept/phoenix and fast colossus builds. That game 7 was so painful to watch, as TY abused everything against the Protoss - 70 attack tank push with liberators and raven.
I really don't see how Protoss could defend that push with robo build without severely delaying their third while Terrans get their own third running and gain a huge eco advantage.

Game 6. Stats defended the 3-tank push successfully and went on to win that game.

It's so map dependent. It's much, much weaker on Honorgrounds than on close spawns Cactus Valley. On Honorgrounds you can actually take a fight on open ground.

GL against Ryung! Damn will be on the road tomorrow Would appreciate if someone PMs me the link to the VODs so i can watch it "live" and avoid spoilers.
Stats is one of the most regular player since the realase of LotV specially among the kespa players but he never won any major tournament.
This gls final is a final of silver players (where is ByuL ?). I don't know who i support the most for this final, both players deserve to win. May the best player win
Stats didn't make too much mistakes today, his form seems good, I just feel like he wasn't expecting the SH (which is understandable really). However I do hope that he's going to do better on the upcoming Finals
Stats underperforming today but that's not exactly a surprise given that he must be prepping for GSL finals. I think not showing soO anything special was a factor too.
Congratulations to Stats. A fitting culmination to his rise these past few months. He's earned his GSL trophy. Still, anyone with a heart has to feel for soO....
I don't want to be a member of the TL stats fan club, but I want to recognize his skill.
He knew what to do to get the trophy. He became the champion because he had it. The cunning, the skill, the understanding of the game and even more, the understanding how to win the final of the most difficult game in existence.
Stats's trolling with the stasis ward re-ignited my passion. SC2 is a game far from being solved. Every time he won I nodded "rightly so".
Pretty cool to watch even if they were all like "wtf you calling me for?" I was kind of surprised he is close to people who aren't Protoss (True), or weren't on his team (Dear), or both (Inno).
Stats plays GuMiho in the first round of the Super Tournament. Heavy favorite, but GuMiho always makes for interesting games.
Gumiho did beat him in this month's Shoutcraft Kings but I would be extremely surprised if Stats lost a Bo5. But he has a tough bracket; after Gumiho it will probably be TY and then possibly Dark after that.
Stats I asked you in your stream a few days ago who you think the best protoss is at the moment, and you replied that you are embarrassed to answer because it's going to be a self compliment.

WHAT HAPPENED?!!??!!
Clearly he didn't play very well. His scouting was kind of poor and his defense was lackluster. Anyway, it is unfortunate that he is out so early but he already got BlizzCon spot so no harm done. He advanced in GSL as well. Everything's still fine. He just had a bad day. GuMiho was even worse.
Amazing play today in GSL, Rogue is an extremely tough opponent so I didn't expect Stats to win but he pulled it out smh. Btw sign me up if anyone's still in charge here :D
What an amazing sick year it has been for Stats. Potentially the best year any player has ever had. Already in the SSL final and the GSL semi and he already has 10,000 WCS points. That is sick!
Stats this year is defying the concept of form. He is finding ways to win every month.
He is playing well in almost every tournament.
The GSL win over Rogue is evidence of that. Perhaps not his best form he still managed to gut out a win over a guy who was on fire.
A 7-2 record, 16-7 record in maps vs 9 of the best players in the world in SSL premier. Those are matches that started July 3rd and ran until August 28th.
In Gyeonggi he finished 2nd and that was way back in December.
This is not a player who ran hot for a month or two.
I wish Blizzard would give a $50,000 prize for the best overall player of the year. Hero was the best in 2015 and Dark was the best last year but Stats is without a doubt the best this year.

A shame he only won 1 championship the whole year since Innovation won 4(though only 2 of them matter), but that will be fixed if he manages to win this season's 2 starleagues, which is technically only 3 series away.

Ouch poor Major
He took 2 maps off Stats in a Bo5 at GSL vs the World. There's some hope at least!
Stats can't allow himself to lose to any non-Korean at Blizzcon. He's gotta round out his super successful year with even more success.
You say Stats had a good year? Damn you are right! I just noticed that he got top4 or better in 10 of the last 13 premier tournaments. WOW this might be the best 12 months of a starcraft2 player ever, damn. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, maybe some casters or writers might actually notice it as well now.
It isn't.
Dismissive. But I think even you can't deny that Stats doesn't get the praise he deserves for his 2017 from casters and the like.
That I can agree with. I don't agree at all that he's had the best year of any player ever.
I am not saying this is a sure thing, but it should be up for consideration at least imo
You can consider it, but I don't agree with it at all. If you're a good player nowadays, you're almost guaranteed a Ro16 in GSL since the competition is so thin now. Plus we've had years when players won 3 Korean tournaments in one year and never dropped off in skill, while Stats definitely did mid 2017. Mvp's 2011 was better imo, Zest's 2014 was as well. Arguments to be made about Life and Taeja when they peaked. Also an argument to be made about Maru in 2014 or 15. The last three I'm not sure though, but they felt much better at the time.
I agree that the scene lost a lot of players and thus it might be a bit easier to make a ro16 for example. But we are talking about ro4s+, even if it is a bit easier to get there now than in 2014 the pure consistency is still incredibly impressive. Like during Mvp's era there weren't as many strong contenders as now, it was in theory way easier to make ro4s. Also if we talk about dropping in skill what are we talking about exactly? This isn't about Stats being the undisputed best player at any time during the year, it's about his results. In mid 2017 he made a ro8 in gsl, a top4 in ssl and a top16 in the super tournament. Yes that's in comparison worse but still decent enough. Let's compare that to Mvp's 2011 for example, after winning GSL in january he made the ro32, code a and another ro32 in code s. That's actually a huge drop if you ask me
Again, Stats made top4 or better in 10 out of 13 premier tournaments in the last 12 months. Mvp went top4 or better in 10 out of 14 premier tournaments in 2011 and if we look at some of these weekenders they were basically a joke (Blizzcon, WCG inarguably, maybe even more )
I am not saying Stats' last 12 months are definitely the best ever, but it should be up there for consideration. Denying that seems absurd to me.
What can you say about a guy who is so solid, so good you take him for granted? My goodness you have the top player in WCS points with Blizzcon right around the corner and nobody has posted since 9/24?
Stats in my opinion has to be the favorite to win blizzcon along with 3-4 other guys. Nobody can make a better case for themselves. To play as well as he has when he had his ticket to Blizzcon punched way back in March?
I'm going to cite 3 matches that showed Stats true greatness this year.
Rd 8 GSL s 3 vs Rogue.. Rogue was on fire. He was totally motivated because he needed a big finish to make Blizzcon. He was 14th in WCS points. Motivation and form aside Rogue could not beat Stats.
SSL season 2 final vs Dark. Similar situation. Dark was playing great and just beat 2 Protoss players in good form. He beat Dear 4-2 and then Classic 4-2 to get to the final against Stats. I thought Dark would probably win that match but Stats was too good. Even against a super star player in top form Stats prevailed.
GSL season 1 rd 8 vs Innovation. You all know this one. Down 2-0 Stats looked out matched against the unbeatable Innovation. Tastosis had Stats beaten and over at that point. He does a 3-0 run to win the match and eventually wins the tournament.
These matches proved how hard it is to beat Stats in a best of 5 or best of 7 match in an event that really matters. This guy is going to be a tough out for anybody that's for sure. He might not seem to be in the best form right now after Master's Coliseum but it will take an incredible player at the top of his game to eliminate Stats and there is a good chance of that happens it will be the final.
Another ro8 showing after 3 matches playing only his worst matchup.
Stats plays any top tier player or even a second tier player who is good at PVP, people favor the odds for the other player. The man gets so little credit that it's crazy. Highest WCS points in history, consistent top performance in top tier offline tournaments? Oh he's just another "solid" player and would instantly lose the benefit of the doubt when his online results suffer a little bit. Not saying that Stats is always in top form (who really is?), but that he is so easily underestimated. It gets old.
It might be true that Stats is not in good form with his big army engagements right now. But his way of approaching a bo7 series has really gone a long way. He's lowkey becoming the best player in LotV.
On March 28 2018 04:11 Shathe wrote: He might be the underdog in the finals seeing Maru's form, but i hope he wins.
He's been the underdog in every match he's played this GSL season, and here he is in the finals. Maru is definitely favoured here, but we haven't seen much of his TvP, or Stats' PvT. Will be a cool finals regardless
Stats fell short. Games looked one-sided but I can tell he practiced very hard. PVT is at a stage where early game is everything. I feel he's not very confident in getting into the late game in either PVT or PVZ nowadays, and understandably so. Lack of TL anti-jinx before the finals did not help either.
was it necessary for him to push out with his army in the last game to get emp'd? Or it doesnt matter because he would have emp'd around his base instead?
Stats won both his matches in the "Memes and dreams invitational" held at the Project Unity house. They resume with 2 more groups in 9 hours, 9pm CST.
Stats beat Sort Of 2-0 and then Scarlett 2-1 in the winners match. Stats has to be considered the favorite to win that tournament which pays at least $800 though with donations might be up to $1000.
For those who don't know Project unity house is the house in Seoul started by Noregret and Scarlett that has them and 6 other pro players living there. It's a casual setting and fun to watch. Noregret is running the tournament.
Very good group for Stats all things considered. But then again, he always does well in hard groups but sometimes stumbles when everyone expects him to do well.
Once again Stats fighting against all odds and expectations, taking down Maru is already a huge achievement especially considering how dominant he was, but Serral is on fire right now and almost never loses ZVP. It's gonna be a tough match.

Mad props to Stats, I thought it would be a total 4-in-a-row comeback, but he defended and took games I believe most would've gg'd out/given up on quite earlier.
That was one of the best grand finals and PVZ series I've seen this year, expecially the ultimate zerg offense vs the ultimate protoss defense in game 5. Stats did make a bunch of mistakes tho, like floating 2k minerals without doing anything against a maxed-out zerg army, and failing to scout Serral's strats cost him at least 2 games. Pretty close series overall

1. Get SCII recognized as an Olympic sport or similar. 2. Have Stats win the gold medal or be the champion or similar. 3. Get Stats some sort of exemption for the military.
That way we can keep him for some more years, although I imagine in the long run age is still going to slow him down.
Unlucky Stats! You definitely deserved to be in the final and you've managed to take Serral to the brink in two best of 7s now. Hoping to see your at the next HSC fighting!
more consistency from Mr. Consistency himself, honestly I'm super impressed with how he has played and I'm really glad he has bounced back well from that poor GSL showing, he has a great shot tomorrow at winning it all

I don't think so although I suspect him and soO will go at the same time.
Haven't heard anything. ESL is ultra reluctant about online Katowice though (like even their preferred option for online play is having the players in Europe to remove ping) so I really don't see that happening.
So when will Stats go to the military? Has there been any dates mentioned yet?
I guess he was really supposed to go last year, but still nothing? Maybe even the military stooges realized what an amazing guy Stats is and decided, for once, to side with Good instead of Evil and let Stats continue his glorious progamer career in peace.
In the Ro16 group selection video it kinda sounded like Stats, TY and Zest were going around the same time so I guess June-ish with no 100% confirmation on the actual date
