Title says it all. There was some recent discussions from the last community night from those who would like to get serious at the game and perhaps start playing in leagues and the tone was that they would like to become better players. Best way to do that is to work towards playing in leagues.
With that in mind, I have no problem creating an open team consisting of community members here who are interested in becoming competitive players that want to play in leagues. Now, with that in mind, the current season of CEVO and ESEA already started so we would start prepping for the next season in a few months but we can always just scrim people on CEVO and ESEA during practice sessions. NOTE: This is a long time commitment as I will be very serious about this (in practices and scrims/matches) and I want the team to also be serious about improving and becoming good league players. Those who think that they cannot take this seriously should shy from signing up as I want to reserve the spots for those who want to join the team and become better.
That being said, I'm looking for those who are at least LE/LEM ranks and are in NA (preferably not west coast due to ping restrictions during league play) since that's the rank where one gets to the point where they know how to self improve and perhaps be almost ready for pug services. We would host practices on the tl community servers during the week days (save for friday which is tl community nights). Practices would be done during night time and would consist of smokes, flashes, nades, strats (a lot of dry running), and demo analysis of previous scrims to look at areas of improvement. I'll will be more strict than what i have been during community nights but I want everyone involved in the team to get good and to succeed. For those who are of gold novas and below, I have no problem helping you out with demo reviews and for getting you guys better if that is something that you plan to work towards. It's just that one has to get good himself before he can tackle league play and scrims as IMO it would just overwhelm people who still need to work onj their CS fundamentals.
just sign up for the community team if you're interested and I'll get scheduling and stuff together and we'll get started with practices right away.
This summer, I would have time to commit to improving in a team environment such as this. I'm currently MGE and I play occasionally on ESEA (although not particularly well). I really want to develop more as a player and I think many of the things I need to improve on are better learned in an organized team environment rather than continuing to play in solo games.
The community team is on CEVO, yes? I will join it. I hadn't before because Fridays are basically my work-week Mondays, and I work afternoon/nights.

rarely matches are on Friday (CEVO has them for sunday/tuesday nights and esea afaik is monday/thursday). that being said, we're not going to enter any upcoming leagues so don't worry about missing matches for now. Im just looking to gauge interest in this team/project
If only I didnt have to go into work at 5 in the morning on weekdays, I would totally be down for this! For now ill just stick to the community nights on Friday.
I'm interested, but I'm just on the edge of the skill level you mentioned (I was in MG I for all of 12 hours yesterday before I went back to Nova IV). I play a lot, and I'm working on improving (I was silver IV just three weeks ago).

I think a skype group would be a good idea. I am interested in joining the team for altruistic reasons. I think you're going to need real talent.

talent has to be fostered
I have most of your skypes, but if you think i have don't have your skype, PM me your skype so i can get you added to it.
I'm interested in doing this. It's been fun playing with most of you in the community nights and I've been looking to get more serious anyway. I have 2 accounts, one has been MG2 and is now MG1, the other is 4 stars (iirc). I already have decent mechanical fundamentals since I'm just good at gaming in general (leaderboard dota player, almost GM sc2, etc), but I really know nothing of actually playing team cs and I kind of just yolo and push stuff for no reason. Hopefully I would be able to learn that stuff and I'm certain I could be a decent player quite fast if I took this serious.

DMG before both VAC waves, haven't played much since so i guess my rank would have gone up. I'm interested in getting more serious for sure. I've been watching the game for 10+ years so it's about time i tried to actually play it
I'm a bit closer to West and would be interested in possibly playing in that. Although Saskatchewan isn't that much closer to West, I think my ping is only 15-30 higher to East so I'm ok playing with anyone.
Hm okay, I'd be up to play I guess, I usually just tag along with friends or play alone but trying to get into a serious team would be cool! I'm LEM~supreme, I'll try to check in for the next community night too.
Im LEM-supreme too (well supreme because of the recent banwaves) and maybe I would be interested about a serious team. The thing I don't know is if I would have enough time to commit to that since I don't have a lot of free time during the week.

Yeah I was thinking about making a team to play more seriously than just MM, maybe some tournaments on faceit etc. So far we have 4 players (me, Artyk, Natureboy, Nihil). We are just scrub MGE level tho, but trust me, we are trying :D Just add me on steam if you are interested, we can talk there.
I'm currently looking for a full-time job so (hopefully) soon I'm gonna be a lot busier, but I wouldn't mind scrimming with you guys or being a sub or something if you need an extra.
I'm highly interested in joining this open team. I've enjoyed all of the people I have met during the community nights, and I would love to team up with them. (LE)
Hey everybody xkcd's computer went busto and we're looking for a 5th to play with us. If you are interested at all please pm me or xkcd for the skype info.
Team update: (this has been on my plate to do for awhile, might as well get around to do it).
So we have been about 1.5 months into the process of practicing as a team. We had our highs, our lows, and more. Regardless, let's recap what went down so far and what we need to do as a team.
Our original team lineup consisted of me, cloud, poop (ms), porkraven, and jormund. We started with the focus on 2 maps, which were Cache and Mirage. We had a lot of issues with our CT side given that I was trying to enforce a triple mid set-up that was tricky to coordinate properly. Our T side weren't too shabby at the start but there was much to be had, especially mid game and our executes. Mirage wasn't touched that much, but we have a general idea of what we want to do for that map.
With all of that in mind, we were doing better than i expected for a group of players who have little to zero experience playing structured CS. We were getting better as a team, However, we ran into our first major team problem. Poop was having major FPS issues playing on CEVO servers at 128 tick, and Cloud stopped coming (I'm not sure why, he never communicated that to me) so they are unable to keep playing while Jormund himself starting having health problems with his wrists (onset of carpal tunnel? He'll have to chime in for that). So we lost 3 players, and we brought on 2 more, no0n and kdallas while using whatever ringers we can get on our hands. I do want to take the time to thank all the ringers that has played with us so far as you guys played fantastically and i enjoyed being with you.
So we have our core of me, no0n, kdallas, pork, and whatever we can find. Not the best scenario not having a full 5 but we can manage it while searching for people to fill those last slots. We started to notice better performances in scrims as we start to flesh out our game plan (better calls from me, etc), and better team communications. Things were starting to get better, and we are starting to get to the point where I can comfortablly say that we're on track to compete and do well in CEVO/ESEA open (as that starts soon). And we run into another snag. Kdallas can't play anymore due to his real life commitments (work) which does suck a lot since I was impressed with his awping and his mechanics as a player.
So, where are we now? We have 3 players on the team now which is me, Porkraven, and noOn. We need 2 more players who are able to commit to playing competitively for next season. We would prefer to take those that are DMG or higher (DMG is minimal level since trying to do even CEVO scrims as a nova/ak player will be too much to handle). I'd prefer to keep this to TL members since I want to carry my dream of having a TL community team and I know that it will be successful. If you wish to join, PM me or Porkraven and we'll get you started and give you the details of practice so that you can decide if you're able to commit or not. With that in mind, anyone that has played so far are more than welcome to come back whenever they feel like they are ready to (they can commit to it)
It has been a wild ride so far for us, but I don't want it to stop anytime soon.
On July 04 2015 23:54 Capped wrote: Asunder youre looking to play for a team? Ive been looking for a UK team for a while, now that im LEM/LE but i'd be interested in a TL team too tbh.
Yeah. Things will be tight this week at work, but after that i can always spare necessary hours for some practice and improving.
Its a bit sad that there seem to be a lot more NA people active here than EU (ie. struggling to get a community night going with EU).
Regarding the EU team, I guess I would be interested, although I don't know how much I would be able to play each day after work. I have a month off work tho coming in 3 weeks and I will try to get a team at this time anyway.
I'd be willing to try that for EU, if we can find a few stable folks. I'm only MGE for now, but I'm working towards improving. (And I've already played a bit of structured CS, so dunno, feels pretty hard to estimate a level).
We played on Tuscan despite us not knowing any callouts, tactics, smokes, etc so we spent about 7 minutes in game doing that before the start of the match. We lost knife and the other opted to start t side (we wanted t side so we could copy their ct setup). So, we lose pistols, won the force, lost again, won next round with another force and then pork gets a vac authentication error (silly pork). We wait 20 minutes for that to be fixed, and we proved to end up the half 7-8. T side pistols, we do a 5 man cat rush, won that, and proceeded to win every round after, netting us a nice 16-8 to start of the cevo league.
So uh we all got pumped up to play our match on cobble, and our opponent didn't show since they messed up the time zones (They're west coast and they signed up for central....). We took the FFW which means that we'll play another team that also had a forfeit win (which in hindsight was a bad idea on my part as we could have waited 2 hours and destroyed these guys).
Anyways, we started work on our season as that is next week's map. We actually got 2 scrims in against an ex-Main team that we almost beat 13-16 (damn good for our first time on the map) then we played another main team that destroyed our flawed T side play. Notes for the map is that we need to make sure that we can control mid because who-ever has mid control on Season has a huge advantage going into the mid round.
NOTE!!! WE ARE LOOKING FOR 1 MORE FOR ESEA TEAM! PM ME IF YOU'RE INTERESTED!!

http://cevo.com/event/cs-globaloffensive/match/183659/ for match page. We started off with a loss in ct pistols, then proceeded to start trading rifle rounds back and forth with them. Most of our rifle losses were due to a misplay at our B setup, letting them have good entries into B. We end up the half 7-8. 2nd half, we get some ridiculous glock kills and wipe them pistol round. The rest was history as we win the half 16-9 with 1 round going haywire due to us making some mistakes with our B execute.
we lost CT pistols due to some miscommunications and sloppiness, then went down 6-0 until we got an AWP rolling and brought it back 8-7. T side, we won pistols, got a good start into the half but then lost our control of the game because fundamental issues:
I was leading the team in the wrong way. I was emphasizing apts control but we really should be focusing on getting brackets control. The apts take is only a stepping stone to get a guy boiler so that we can have 3 peek mid safely and secure it; we would take apts but then let the control sit there which means that Soh and Pork were not doing much at all mid round. There was a huge problem with our Banana takes due to fundamental errors regarding teamwork; getting picked off, no trades, only 1 going up, etc. of which I attributed 100% to me for failing to drill it down properly to what I wanted to happen banana. However, it's only 1 game and we still have a long season to go (next map is train) so I still believe that we'll do well (train is simpler in nature yet we can do some really fancy stuff on it). There is also starting to be a role shift. We originally had Soh awp but now that has changed to where I'm the primary awper and calling at the same time. I don't think it has affected my calling but it has definitely changed how i am playing which i need to still take care of.
We didn't get much practice which sucked. Our train match was cancelled by CEVO because of that massive new patch, but our opponents claimed a FFW. I disputed it and its still pending; CEVO admins are lazy man. Moving on, we won our Cache game even though our T side was atrocious since we had no practice on Cache. We just carried our CT side to victory and at least 2 T rounds were won through eco buys. Doesn't help that I played so badly .
Whiff got regulated to the hospital following a blood clot in his stomach so we had logical from the esea side join us. We as a team had a lot of trouble in practice for the map due to a variety of factors and we weren't really as prepared as we would like to be for this map.
Heading into the match itself, we won knife, picked CT side since it was our more comfortable side, then proceeded to lose 5 straight rounds due to us having a slow start. Round 6, we started to pick up steam as we warmed up to the game and then won the half. The last round i made a stupid call to double push lower which ended up costing us the round but logical had a nice 1v1 clutch post plant to net us 10-5. T side, rush B no stop worked well for us since we had the spawn. Anyways, we hit 6-14 and lost our momentum as we started to slip and played lousy, losing 5 rounds in a row before we won the half off, proving that we're better than CLG at closing games.
Still no dispute update which is pissing me off, and our last map is mirage. Even with the FFL, if we win Mirage, we will be qualified for the playoffs which will then give us the opportunity to make it to main which is exciting for me
well it was a close match but we won 16-13 and make it into playoffs! we lost both pistols, but managed to grind our rounds out to close it out. I havent look at the demo, but they took a lot of inspiration from EnVy (why else sit a scout at Van on buy rounds?) with heavy mid round aggression and pressure. We did not feel comfortable but at the very least, we're in playoffs on a season record of 6-2 (one being a FFL that the dispute will never be processed :/).
hmmm, cevo has a fucked up system where they use CPI to determine playoffs spot instead of normal win loss than round differential (which it should fucking be), of which the ffl would kill our chances to get in. Atm, we're 69th place and cutoff is top 64..
if we dont get in, then ill just make a reddit post or something for public shaming because they still haven't removed the FFL that is their fault... They release playoffs spots Thursday, Oct 22 3:30pm GMT (GMT+00:00) and this CPI score they use is so damn stupid now that im reading more into it. it rewards losing rounds on purpose to make "close games" to boost the score...
