I had fun so far in the two battles made….maybe because they were wins lol but still. The second attack may increase a pokemon value a lot, but they are very expensive, especially on the more commonly used on the top tier right now. The 100k dust is not actually a problema, but for someone that started in august, i dont actually have 100 larvitar/etc candy to unlock a move for one of them.

Oh no, there's daily rewards for battling? I was hoping to avoid it entirely since I have 0 interest. Sidenote: if it's unevolved, unlocking a 2nd charge move is cheaper. Ttar is kind of a bad candidate anyway, since Smackdown is use it or lose it. It does make Shadow Ball Mewtwos even more stupidly good though... >=[

If you battle the Mystic gym leader in the under 1500CP league she'll use a magikarp and the whole thing is pretty straightforward and easy (not that the other ones are hard either, but still). So it's an easy way to get +400 stardust/day at least.

Or am I supposed to be lucky enough to do a bunch of raids/spend a gazilion rare candy to power it up?

The expectation for EX pkmn was set a bit high with Shadowball Mewtwo.

Did your CD go as normal? I got the impression that somewhat one hour before the event ended, a lot of spawns changed back to the normal mons in the place I was….heck...roughly 30 minutes before the end, it looked more like anorith day than totodile. This CD was also bad for me because, although I caught a high amount of regular and shiny totodile, all of them were very low IV and their cp was actually not incredible as well. Maybe niantic really wanted people to go for croconaw raids to have the high cp/IV mons for evolution, idk but it felt like very bad luck this time around (only one of my irl friends reported 1 single high cp/iv totodile - as in above 900 cp and at least above 80% - the rest all said they have several feraligator to trade to try to up them IV wise).

I ended up with 8 Feraligatr, 7 normal(3 for me, 3 for trades, 1 for a friend that was stuck in work) and a shiny. Happy with my Hundogatr. Today was when I realized how cute Totodile can be when he isn't spamming the dance emote like a lunatic on the show. edit: Also, most likely rip my Ralts/Gardevoir prediction because unless they make Charm or Misty Terrrain a fast move, there's no Fairy moves that are in Gerdevoir's movepool that is also not already a charge move. =[

To me having zapdos and raikou in field research is already great. Only did a single zapdos raid (thank god because it was the only way to get the legacy move) but he was good enough to be a power up candidate. Sad I missed raikou raids because these field research ones are relatively low level and require a ton of candy to have at acceptable level.

I don't think Mewtwo is likely for research. The other 3 maybe, but its not all that useful, research is really only worth 6 candy and maybe a dex entry. We get a few weeks of good groudon and kyogre now, prolly another run of Ray in Feb or march, and maybe weekend raid trains on the dogs pretty soon as well, which will be nice for Raiku.
