Looks like this thread kinda died, but TL people are always cool so...
I just built a PC mainly so I could kinda finally play SFV. I seriously doubt I'm much better than silver -- I have played offline alot against gold+ folks and I can win against them pretty often, but I also know them very well. I just started playing ranked now. I'm east coast Canada, wired.
If anyone ever wants to play some sets, would welcome any experience at this point. I jumped on some SFV discord channels and am trying to learn there as well.
I still play regularly and would be happy to test the connection. I'm southwest (Arizona) so the connection to East Canada might not allow it. I have east friends I can play fine with and some that are unplayable, so it's really hit or miss.
Feel free to add me and we can test it sometime (same goes for anyone else still reading this thread).
New character looks interesting. Also Arcade Edition is coming out January 2018. Free upgrade if you already own the original or $40 brand new and it includes Season 1 and Season 2 DLC characters. Really nice deal if you've been waiting for a 'complete' game.
As always anyway feel free to hit me up for games! I'm currently playing SFV and MvCi.
Ugh, I love the most intense love hate relationship with Capcom. A few months ago, I would have swore they were dead to me with all those awful decisions with Marvel vs. Capcom infinite, the Street Fighter 2 switch port, among other things.
They kinda won me over this weekend with the monster hunter world beta + all these amazing street fighter announcements + megaman 11 a few days ago. God damn it.

It almost feels like there are two separate companies, doesn't it? With two different aims. I noticed that myself.
I'm both excited and nervous about the Digital Eclipse ports of the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection. Having worked with them in the past for my old company, they do excellent arcade-perfect ports. However, it's still emulation at the core. That introduces processing overhead which also means potential risk for framerate drops, which is unacceptable in a 60fps frame-perfect fighting game. Probably won't happen, but it could happen. Especially if PC players are using underpowered hardware. :x

Off topic, but a guy from Digital Eclipse had a fascinating hour long talk about emulation, he goes into discussion of what makes a good port and stuff:
It's already been great with top players like MOV having rough first round pools vs completely unknown Japanese local talent. This is exactly what I wanted to see from EVO Japan.
