"“Based on extraordinary audience demand, retail and first party orders worldwide have exceeded $500 million for Destiny,” said Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard. “This industry milestone marks another blockbuster success for our company and demonstrates our unique ability to create some of the most successful entertainment franchises in the world. The success of Destiny, along with the recent introduction of Blizzard Entertainment’s Hearthstone, is further validation of our unique capabilities to create great entertainment franchises from the ground up.”
I feel like we had this discussion before... I think Destiny 1 was objectively a blockbuster success, u heard it from ur boy himself.
Destiny 2, i'd imagine probably didn't hit the same mark unless PC compensated.

we've had this debate before. Sold to retailers is not sold to consumers. they corrected this later. he calls everything a success. he has to. Eric Hirshberg isn't being fired because Skylanders bombed and ATVI is missing revenue targets... he is "moving on".
you only have to look at the resources put into Destiny2 to see that Destiny1 was not viewed as a success by ATVI.
make no mistake about it.. Bungie is fighting for its life right now.

I'm surprised that's your take on it. I'd assume you would say thats their way of letting him save face.

Ok so why do companies miss those "sandbag #s"? It's not like they don't fuck up and miss an estimate like they did late 2015. What estimates are we going off if not the company's own projections? Are you going to swear by Zacks Consensus Estimate as the one and true way?
In your own link, it says they exceeded the revenue expectation...

you can tell ATVI missed the street estimates because the stock price fell and didn't recover for 3 weeks. Overall, the stock markets ( NASDAQ etc) are doing great so for a stock like ATVI to fall... means the street ain't happy and they have a lot of evidence to back their sentiment.
we're in greed mode right now. isn't it Bobby Kotick who said : "greed is good"

There is no way PC compensated, the late PC release meant players got to see how bad the game was before they bought it.
I was one of the people excited to buy it for PC but walked away based on console release.

In what universe can a developer, with a strait face, say "should we inform players we changed the reward system from last time?, Nah it will be ok". And why is that man not fired yet.

Oh ok. So Destiny 1 bombed and didnt make any money. Was the worst debuting IP of all time, and ATVI have said that it was a failure, got it.
In the same citation, it said Destiny was the #2 bestselling game. I think you're still overstating whatever disappointments the game had.

How does the the drip feeding/unlocking of the faction rally work?

if D1 met or exceeded ATVI's expectations it would have received clear announcements of its sales success the way COD:WW2 just did.

What the heck, I haven't played in a while and don't have the expansion yet, not sure what all this rambling is about...
Is it still fun & what's up with the TL clan in Destiny 2? I enjoy it myself

The TL clan is DOA it's just me and eieino. Though we did manage to get the Clan to level 2.
This is not good.
