I just realized we didn't have one of these threads for the beta, so I thought I'd get it going. Reminder on the definition of simple questions and answers:

Ask in this thread when you have a simple question that can be answered by a simple answer. Please always check if you can find an answer in Liquipedia or by using the Search function first. Most simple questions have already been answered elsewhere.
What not to ask in this thread
When is a good time to expand? (Situational / game dependent)
How much damage does a Thor do against light-bio? (Liquipedia)
How can I micro better? (Too generic)
What kind of 1-1-1 opening do you guys and gals play? (Survey / spam question)
Anyone doing anything in this thread but asking or answering simple questions will get their asses kicked.

I think you should build some Vikings.
Disruptors die now very fast against Marauders, so I think you shouldh have no problems in combat situations. But the harass is really strong and the only effective defense is Vikings+Turrets. Try to set some patrolling Vikings in the most obvious flanks.
Was there a change to time warp? Watching Stephano v PartinG in LOTUS Round 1 it seemed like the spell range appeared on the ground but didn't affect the enemy units until the hemisphere appeared, which was a second or two later. I haven't been able to find anything about a change to time warp though.

As far as official announcements are concerned, I don't think Blizzard has addressed game price yet, but it will likely be around the same as WoL and HotS; it doesn't look like Blizzard will be changing their model to F2P or anything.

Yes, once you place it, it will take about 2-3 seconds before it activates. I would check the official time it takes for you, but I don't have LotV installed at work
Has anyone tested if disruptors can be lifted by phoenix graviton beam? It is my understanding they cannot be fungal'd and they go through force fields. Are they affected by time warps?

The only thing outside of the obvious upgrading of your ISP subscription is to try to avoid any other network related tasks (streams, updates, etc.) while playing on you network. Sadly it seems like LotV has a lot of extra debug processes running which can cause lag, sometimes severe, when playing. This is not exclusive to EU though, as even NA players sometimes have severe lag issues.

upgrading your ISP doesn't decrease your ping by definition, it is possible however, but only with a veryyy small margin IF any.

There are no solid strategies yet. The units and meta change so fast that by the time a strategy has been figured out, something happens that changes the whole game around, so there are no people taking the time to really create and share builds, as it just is a waste of time for the most part.

Best suggestion is to watch some streams and copy what you're seeing. I know Iaguz and a few other Terran players stream pretty regularly, and there are a few non-featured streams, so you should be able to find some strategies that way.

Afaik, unranked still has some sort of (hidden) mmr and isn't completly random, but does a "normal" (master/diamond) have any chance to play against a progamer? I don't care that I would get wrecked seriously hard :D but just the chance of having a game against demuslim, dimaga, ... would be sooo epic

Custom games vs AI are unavailable at the moment. Most likely because the AI is not yet adapted to work with the new units.

PvP isn't that bad... you just have your gate and cyber core part of your wall and you permanently keep a probe at the wall to finish a pylon. Not ideal, but I don't think it's in a horrendous state.
I had some frame rate issues with the 64 bit version of LOTV. Try going into the blizzard launcher and setting it to launch the 32 bit version. Seemed to fix the issue for most people. It's still a little bit laggier than HOTS though on the same hardware.
I am wondering if anyone also experience big lag (connection/Internet) Its strange because I normally play in US server but the beta server which is supposed to be hosted in the US is laggy .

Why does every player (well every player i face) do the most standard hots tactics and not even try (to go for) the new units?

Because people have likely been playing longer than you, and at this point instead of "trying to use the new units" they're just attempting to play the game as they see fit, while integrating new units on the side.
Just play more and you'll have the opportunity.
A lot of people are opening up 14/14 for example vs P because how often they are opening nexus first in LOTV. This has nothing to do with LOTV specifically, just the meta of the beta.
It's not "win at all costs" it's just playing the game.

How do you suggest i pick them off exactly ? Either they just stay in the back of the army and they suddenly storm into mine (and splitting against toss is not really a dream situation ) or they come from a warp prims.
It would be cool if i could EMP them while they were in the invincible mode but heh.

I mean they typically get picked off after one use. It's harder with a warp prism, but keep in mind you can't put a disrupter back into the prism until after it goes off, so they'd have to put it immediately into the prism.
Vikings to snipe the prism does wonders (you'd think you wouldn't need them since ppl don't build Colossi anymore, but that's where they have their use).
Does lotv have higher system requirements than hots? I ask this because my fps in LotV are WAY lower than in Hots. I have quite low fps on hots too but below 200 supply it's still perfectly playable. LotV on the other hand is completely unplayable once the supply goes above 100.

People says that this is caused by bad optimization of the 64-bit client. Check support or forums, I think there was a way to use the 32-bit client one.
Once the client gets refined and improved, SC2 is supposed to run the same as HotS or even better. I hope they do it, since Starcraft2 is very optimized for less powerful computers but still awful for maximum settings even in very high end PCs.
I suppose that due to Heroes using the same engine, LotV is going to run much smoother due to the fact that they have worked hard on Heroes and will work even more.

How should i open in TvP if i want a slightly greedy macro build that is safe against the most common pokes? are oracles and blink play still threats that define the opening phase? everything is just feeling so wierd with the new starting eco.
My greedy opener in TvP is cc first high ground, into rax gaz rax facto.
Oracle, even the fastest proxy, comes a bit later compared to mineral income, so it's easy to have enough marine to handle it, even with a reaper expand start. Just seen blink allin one time or two, it seems pretty weak.
The more common early threats are: - 2 gates adept, sometime with a zealot first, where you just need to wall off and add a bunker, then get WMs and 1 or 2 marauders, - proxy oracle, where you just need marines, then WM

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think every hotkey profile you create is stored in some simple file (I think some xml, I don't remember exactly) in your computer, under SC2 folder in the windows documents folder [My Documents > Starcraft II > (Your account folder) > Hotkeys.] I don't know about Mac.
If you find it, you will possibly be able to just copy it into LotV (Starcraft II Beta, same route) folder, following the same route, and it should work .

Does LoTV score screen show Actions per Minute or per Blizzard minute? And what does the HoTS score screen show, by the way? The point is that the number for me did not change from HoTS to LoTV, which is weird.
This is more of a theorycrafting question but what skill gap needs to exist for a player to win 1v2 in archon mode, assuming both players on the 2 team were around the same skill? Is it impossible if all 3 are progamers? What about if all 3 are GM?
I played a few archon games with a friend, and I can confidently say that both of us would have played better alone. Such a mess with rally points, hotkeys, economy for drones or morphing units etc.
Point being, how good an archon is doesn't only depend on the skill of the players individually, but how good they are at archon, and how well they work together.
So if you take two pro gamers and let them play archon for the first time against a single pro of similar skill, it will probably be a very open game. But if you let the two pros practice archon for a week together (not that that will ever happen) they will probably win a vast majority of the games.
So essentially the same as 2 on 2.
Also, I'm like gold or something, and have only played a few games, to take my extrapolation for what it is.

That's not a meta...that's just how you are deciding to play / your opponent is deciding to play. Deciding not to attack because your opponent is not attacking is very different from deliberately not attacking as apart of your game plan. Some players (especially Zerg players) are not comfortable attacking and risking loss in the mid-game. There are other defensive oriented builds that do not require damage of any form to be dealt to come to fruition. Other builds use triggers to work pressures in.
But if you want to attack earlier in the game, come up with some logical times to pressure your opponent based on your build! Take the initiative to create the sort of pace you want.

The Dh model that TL was pushing for has a worker mine, short pause, mine, short pause, return load. The bw style had the worker just take twice as long to mine a load of minerals. Using the Bw style, players are at more of a disadvantage if they pull workers to deal with cheese. Making early aggression stronger. With DH you get the same curve almost, but can pull workers half way through the cycle if needed without the econ hit.
I think artosis brought up the downside, because of how ZvZ worked in BW. It was very hard if you needed to pull drones to defend vs lings, because of the long mine times.

As a zerg it feels much harder to get one base ahead in the beta, but it still feels like zerg are required to be one base up on their opponent (unless it is zvz). Am I the only one who feels that way?
It seems like I get three bases and lose to moderate aggression (not an all in, but pressure with an expand behind it), or I stay on two and can hold off the aggression but am behind in resources because of the relatively poor trading that zerg does vs other races.
I don't want any build help, i was just wondering if other zerg players had the same general feeling.
I'm just downloaded the BETA. It is supposed to be in a different installation than my regular Starcraft? Because it's starting from 0 like, no video configuration, hotkeys and every little thing I had done in SC hots.

Usually they are between 40-50€ these days. I think I preordered HotS on amazon for like 45€ and then got a 5€ discount because they made it cheaper before release. But that will also depend on the Euro/Dollar exchange rate I guess, which isn't all too stable since Greece collapsed.

I guess it s because the ping is terrible, even if you re playing from NA, sometimes you have half a second of delay, and build orders "change a bit" during the early game, so I guess pros tend to focus on the current tournament version of the game!
With the new 12 worker start, I am unsure as to when I need to defend against certain timings like cloak banshee for instance. As Zerg, if a Terran player does a "standard macro build," nothing too heavy on early aggression or economy, but more of a balance. At what point do I need to be worried about harassment from cloaked banshee, mass hellion, and mass reaper. Worried, as in if I don't have a spore up or a pack of lings I may likely die without great micro. Hope this question was simple enough for the thread.
Can someone confirm that the lock-on of the Cyclone does NOT trigger if you targetfire with a cyclone? Or is there a bug that just makes the automation of the lock-on inconsistent?
How to open in TvP (facing a two gateway adept opening in 70% of the times)?
Explanation: All viable terran early game units (marines, reaper, hellions) are light-armored and the receive bonus damage from adapts aka going down instantly. Marauder are looking bad too: they require a techlab, don't do bonus damage vs adepts and instantly lose to oracle/MSC pushes. A quick wall-in seems to be necessary, but it puts you even further behind because it's a extra investment and you cannot take the low ground expansion for ages vs a 4 adept contain.
On July 15 2015 01:40 StaN.de wrote: How to open in TvP (facing a two gateway adept opening in 70% of the times)?
My opening: 12 rax 12 gaz reaper then if you scout adept 2 gates, wall off with your 2 first supply and 1 bunker cc hi ground reactor on rax then marines rax factory then WM tech lab on rax then marauder
land your cc low ground as soon as you get your 1st WM, a bunch of marines and a marauder and you should be ahead!
I don't play much but I do like the occasional ladder game. I'm content with being in Bronze as long as battle.net has an ok rating for me so that I get 50/50 win ratio.
I only used 1 rax FE in HotS and I need the equivalent for LotV. I intend to try a few games like that in LotV but have there been any major changes that prevent me from doing that? Does the worker start count invalidate a 1 rax FE? I need a simple TvX build I can stick with.
I'm just getting stared with LotV and I am looking for some high level zerg replays. Something that I can key off of as I get my macro better. Unfortunately, I cant seem to find like any replays that actually work. Normally I would go to spawningtool, and they do have a LotV section, but all the replays that I download say "the version required to play this game is unavailable." Any ideas on where to get some good replays that work?
What would be a good way to reach carriers kinda safely in PvZ ? I like to open phoenix into some adepts/sentries to secure the third, but I can't seem to be sure whether I can tech carriers or not ; hydra ling or lurkers timings are a bitch to deal with. If you could help me on that topic I'd be really glad
Anyone else notice how hotkeys work differently in lotv? It's hard for me to explain. In hots, I usually have my CC as 5, and you can hit 5 then box scvs, then 5 again and you wouldn't center on the CC. In lotv, even if you box in between hitting 5 twice, it will center your focus on the CC. You don't even really seem to need to double hit 5 very quickly for it to center your screen. It could be that specifically, or something else, but I've been fucking up my hotkeys. Like I'll add things I don't want to add, accidentally change hotkeys etc..
Anyone been experiencing this and know if I can change it back to the way they had it in wol and hots? It's been incredibly frustrating.

I believe that there is no ranked play for archon mode yet. Possibly because they have no way of showing it in your profile. I am sure that it will be added shortly since archon mode is something that they are promoting.
I haven't played since WoL, as I'm sure most people have, and I'm overwhelmed. I used to watch a lot of replays and Day9 to learn the game, but I was in high school then, and simply don't have all the time to do that. What is a fast way to learn the basic strategies and builds, along with effective army composition. Basically, how do I learn this game without watching tons of games, stream and replays?
I have read some LotV patch notes and upcoming changes posts and they seem to be different from what's present in Liquipedia on LotV. Is the Liquipedia up to date or it's not reliable when it comes to LotV? Is there any tool or source to reliably check current up to date stats of the units in LotV?

This one guy came in with like 20 reapers I had no idea! And another time about 10 hellbats. they were 1basing
if you see no expansion from Terran at a reasonable time, you need to sac an ovie to scout the main. In any case, having speed ready and a lot of queens always helps vs 1-base plays (I like throwing down a roach warren too, helps vs adept shenanigans and especially hellbats vs Terran)

I doubt this is enabled for the beta. LotV beta even has a different client and all, I doubt there is interaction with the released games.
If I get lib/viking off starport to counter it, it gets parabombed and flooded with corruptors. Cyclones get flooded with broodlings since they increased range and zerg fungals me when it gets too close to BLs.
I seem to have trouble when they mix in few BLs with viper in main lurker/roach/hydra composition as mech since friendlyfire with broodlings and buffer provide a good wall against my army!

You go to the server selection button in the Battle.net launcher and should find it. Note that if you're not from NA you might face significant lag - from my reading of the forums, the beta servers are in NA somewhere. Or at least that's what all the EU players seem to think with their ping.

not much of a question, but i went from 402 points in sliver and then went to 239 to gold wtf is that. I mean I know it really means nothing but that's odd right? just wondering if anyone else has had that happen to them?

Isn't it standard to drop down in points a bit when you go up a league? It may be related to the different bonus pools in the different leagues, or maybe just the MMR difference... I'm not really sure.
how do you deal with zerg's broodlord+viper based compositions as terran? I find that going air to deal with broodlord gets destroyed by viper and capital ship either gets abducted or is produced too late to deal with it as a response to BL when zerg makes mass of it lategame
if I go mass cyclone/hellion, the pathing block from broodling prove to be too much to handle or siege tank splash kills my own cyclones too fasat to deal with broodlord amounts.

The game is much more balanced than previous iterations. Drop play with fast unloading medivacs/liberator zoning seems to be the best thing at the moment or muta/lurker into ultra viper. For protoss i think the adept oracle into blink is really strong.

Its the same as it was in hots. Keep the economy low and trade efficiently.
If you ever watch supernova, he just keeps their economy low. Its not just one moment but a series of events that lead to this.
If you watched first one, I cant deal with it at all despite keeping zerg st lower state than me it's quite difficult to pull off and since I can't deal with that composition well in first place, his 3 base econ wax enough to finish me off
If an Adept turns on its teleport and I lift the original with a Phoenix, does the shade keep going? And if it does, when it expires, does the Adept teleport out of my graviton beam?
I got bit salty towards end but I did make amends after game. I got clouded by salt for a bit. Shame on me
But I just cant deal with it. He could go blink stalker, which could mean disaster if moved out too fast or expanded too fast since if i get hit by good statis ward mine, he can blink in to win.
If I dont make tanks vs tank, Its hard to hold vs stalker whereas if he chooses to go adept, i need bunker and cyclones. just few vikigns wont be enough to ward off mass oracle and the statis ward spam gives him complete map control so i cant move out- he can see whats coming to him for instance.... but i think few oracle would have dobe wonders to establish my 3Rd earlier as he wouldnt sack all hid oraclw judt to delay my 3Rd even more. Carrier interceptor ability and build time doesn't really let me get there

I finally figured out how to play the beta...i had a rather unique malware stopping me from getting access but that is another story. I somehow cannot play campaign and only archon mode....i hate archon mode. I reserved my game from gamestop of that is of any help.
EDIT---- Found this out....if anyone has the same problem read post #6
In short if ou have pre-purchased the game through the Battle.Net Shop then you should have access to the prologue missions. However, if pre-ordered or pre-purchased from a retailer, their Beta key does not include the prologue missions access.
dumb question but how do you beat mass carriers as mech? I've gotten into way too many games where I've killed his bases and he has like 7-8 carriers and just kills me. I've tried Viking/WM but i'm not sure if that's the right way to go

It's Blizzards new line to tone down the APM-requirements of sc2. In fact, they are now trying to reward low APM, to the extent that performing any action automatically loses you the game. The community said that the game was still too demanding, so they decided to not only lose the game, but actually crash the program whenever you play with an APM above 0. The exact numbers may be tweaked in future patches though, they are just testing. On the plus side, they added a new achievement "Strategist, Not Piano Player" for winning three games in a row with 0 APM.
(Sorry, just a bit mad. I haven't heard about the crash issue before, can it be related to custom hotkeys?)

I played in the era of WoL when 1 rax expands into 3 rax into 2 gas was a simple and sure fire build against pretty much every matchup if you had the micro and macro to be able to go into different techs and apply pressure and actually defend.
Simple question: Is there a build that I can use that will emulate this? I've been going 14 depot and 15 rax and a 17 cc and then 300 minerals 2 rax and blah blah blah, but I'm sure that there has to be some simplifications that can be made.
Simple Question: 13 depot or 14? why? (imo on 14 depot, it's actualy a 16 rax because you float 50 ish min and might as well queue up the 16th scv.
14 depot and yes, you have about 200g when it finishes, so queueing the scv as you get situated to build the rax is fine
i rally my 13th scv straight to the ramp and i get 100g right when it gets there
E: I should note that there are a couple maps where this doesn't work as nicely, but queueing the 14th scv then dropping the depot after, even if the scv is there for a few seconds is probably fine.
Why do so many people hate the siege tank/medivac harass idea? It's extremely APM intensive, brings back memories of reaver drops from BW (not the same race but whatever), and makes tanks a bit more viable.
Is it just cause it looks weird/stupid (subjective anyway?)
Why are there no talks of nerfing the Adept or buffing bio health for terran? At this point TvP honestly seems unwinable and TvZ is just as hard considering there are so many splash damage units that just decimate a bio army. Was the point of this expansion to move Terran to mech play only?

Because its preventing siege tank from being buffed in another way as it would be too mobile while dealing too much damage if its being able to be picked up/dropped in siege position.
Siege tank is already as of now bit lackluster as other units overshadow it/does better job in zone control like the cyclone and liberator. It doesn't do its immobility without justice in its damage dealt and adding mobility just means nothing will be made up for it as it could completely break siege tank.
The whole idea of siege tank was trading its entire mobility for power and idea of medivac pickup/drop completely shatters the idea. Maybe picking up siege mode/dropping unsieged would be fine but drop/pick up in sieged mode entirely is silly

i dont think the liberator does as good of a job with space control as the siege tank, but terran is currently my off race so that might be off base. 3/3 upgraded tanks in a mech army shred zerg up and liberators on top of them make everything else melt too.
anyway, i havent heard anyone hating the siege tank medivac micro. the only thing that people need to do is make sure they macro behind it because there have been many times where i get some guy picking up and dropping but forgetting to make units and expand behind it..so ill lose a queen and a couple drones but it doesn't matter since i have 3 bases and have been teching/upgrading while he's dancing around pretending he's at the GSL.
that said, its annoying and you can seriously fuck with someone using this which definitely prevents the siege tank from getting a buff. played well, though you can infinitely kite a zerg defending your mech using medivac(s) and boost. i watched morrow absolutely school someone the other day with a couple siege tanks and picking them up whenever they were in danger and dropping them when their attack was off cd.
tl;dr tanks offer different kind of space control when you mech, it allows you to seriously outplay your opponent, but it definitely prevents blizzard from buffing them or they'd be too strong

currently blizzard is in the design stage of the beta. eventually when they have the game design where they want it, they will fine tune things like adepts, which, IMO, need a nerf
Don't know if this has been asked yet, but I was posting my thoughts on a slight change to parasitic bomb, and this question came to mind: can parasitic bomb target colossi, and does the area-effect damage nearby colossi? If not, is that intended or an oversight?

Is anyone able to hotkey new units, spells and abilities? I'm only seeing units from Wings of Liberty, no HotS or LotV stuff in the hotkey builder. I can't play it standard..
With all the radical changes brought about by LotV (removal of macro mechanics), where do I begin? I want to learn how to play again, and I don't mean "use the left mouse button to select, right mouse button to move, a + left click to attack-move," but rather build orders, map quirks (like tank siege spots), and more importantly, what the new units do.
Is there something like Purge's or Merlini's channel for Starcraft? Purge and Merlini are educational casters/YouTubers, with the former focusing on beginner to intermediate play and the latter on higher-level play (Merlini was known for playing Zeus back in his progaming days). In DotA 2, I simply go to either channel or just look up one of our very own Torte De Lini's guides.
Does Day9 still do educational Starcraft 2 streams?

So I noticed that you need far fewer workers to saturate a mineral line. It's 16 instead of 24. Is 16 the maximum saturation or just the ideal one, i.e. can I train up to 24 workers and get full mineral income?
Hi. I was playing some GM games with over 700 LOTV games and 75 with the recent patch.
I've spent countless hours to try to understand how to stop Warp prism all-ins on 1 base or 2 bases in TvP. It seems like nothing works against mass adepts early game. You need marines/marauders with stim, shield and medivacs before actually fight them.
- You could say bunkers in the mineral line : On GM level they can just chill around the bunker and make huge damage. - You could say make tank/drop : Nope. you just don't care about the tank you kill all SCVs or marines by this time. Adepts are tanky. - You could say make mines : Same as bunkers, on high level play they just run around it or get one adept by mine, it doesnt one shot them. - You could say cyclones : recent nerf makes it impossible : too little damage with the lock thing. - You could say cloak banshees : He just makes an observer and make stalkers instead. - You could say hellions : Hell no. Adepts have a huge buff damage on light units. They don't do shit.
Not to mention that if you open reapers, the oracle comes in before you get 6 marines, which is stupid. Not to mention the Voidray all-in everyone does
If you survive to this phase of the game. Remember : anytime you will move out on the map with your bioball, a warp prism will come in with 4 chargelots recently buffed and warp-in 6 more. They are unkitable with the production you have (without mules 3 rax max).

did they change how producing zerg units work? It feels more responsive when i make a unit from larvae, like they go to eggs right away. In hots it feels like its either delayed glitchy or something does not feel right, but it is definitely correct in lotv (settings are identical on my end and it is not a lag issue). Mutalisks feel better as well. Is this something they changed?

The full worker saturation is still 24 on 8 patches. They just display the maximum as 16 to encourage people to expand more and oversaturate less.
I haven't played much starcraft since early hots and i barely even played any of that because i didn't like it. any ways i'm trying to get back to playing LOTV beta, but i don't even know all the new units and it would be nice if i there was a place that had a description of all the new units and what they are strong against and what they are weak against kinda like this page right here http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/game/unit/immortal
for example if u scroll down and look at the immortal it says strong against... and lists 1 unit of each race its good against then it lists 1 unit of each race it sucks against. Is there any where i can get some info like this about LOTV, i'm playing unranked games and i don't even know all the units i can build or what my opponent can build. I played a few games against the comp then like 3-4 unranked games and ran into a liberator i had no clue what it did, i ask what to use against it some one said ravager, i said what is a ravager? i just want a basic run down on the new units and what their strengths and weaknesses are? Any one have a link of somewhere i can find this info ?

The simplest answer is: no; the second simplest answer is: do what TOP and SuperNova are doing. To elaborate, I don't think there is a safe macro opening. The most successful games from the two Terrans seems to involve proxy factory/proxy starport using mines and liberators to harass, keep them from killing you, and force Protoss into both Stargate tech and reliable detection. You're up there on the ladder as you've said yourself, so the rest should be more straightforward, but as of today this seems to be the most successful TvP opening at the highest level.

They changed some unit control related stuff.
This was fixed. I've yet to see the full benefit because i have 160 ping to LOTV server (and sc2 adds an extra ~100ms of delay, so i have a quarter second lag on all of my unit commands) but it's obvious where it helps

From my experience, the terrans to completely shut that stuff down had enough army to face 4-6 adepts plus a cyclone, viking or liberator to force the prism to GTFO. It's been defended a few times @ redbull archon from pro level players, so take a look at all of the TvP's there (i didn't catch most of them myself)

No I pretty much cannot survive vs chargelot based builds for the life of me. I dare say they're overpowered at the moment.
Blizzard already said they're looking into nerfing them. As for now you cannot survive most attacks that come before Lurkers. Once you get like ~5 lurkers it becomes pretty easy to stop, but getting to that point is damn near impossible.
edit: oh yeah and if they mix in adepts/immortals with the push then just fucking GG. some ladder hero named ReyReign just did that vs me today and there was nothing I could do in hindsight.
It seems there is no safe build in TvP since the last patch, the only solution you have is to choose a blind counter BO and pray (like marauder first against adept but insta loose to oracle, rush liberator...).
A lot of terran master+ I know just stopped to play this version, because TvP is nearly unplayable, or are just off-racing.

diamond, so not sure if my opponents just aren't executing the attack properly, but i've held charge zealot openings into immortal/adept followup with mass roach by creating some sim city and keeping my roaches away from open areas. kind of map dependent though - like on the space station map with the backdoor natural i was able to completely wall off the ramp to the third so zealots couldn't bust through and trade efficiently while i teched up to lurkers
for my own question, how do you deal with protoss stasis trapping your third base so you can't engage while they kill the hatchery? it was blink into three oracles and he just dropped stasis wards everywhere, and then fought half my army. if i pull back he just kills the hatchery
is this a "don't let him get into that position" thing? am i supposed to be killing the stasis wards? do i just have to go lurker against oracles so i can sit back further?

for my own question, how do you deal with protoss stasis trapping your third base so you can't engage while they kill the hatchery? it was blink into three oracles and he just dropped stasis wards everywhere, and then fought half my army. if i pull back he just kills the hatchery
is this a "don't let him get into that position" thing? am i supposed to be killing the stasis wards? do i just have to go lurker against oracles so i can sit back further?
ya im not sure what you're sim city'ing with because spines melt to chargelots and everything is really wide open, especially if youre talking like a quickest possible charge with a prism. dunno maybe i need to get overlord speed sooner and constantly fly shit over his base to see what he's banking or something. either way, charge is getting a much needed nerf thank god.
to answer your question - if you're allowing him to get in between you and your third hatchery, your creep spread needs to be better, there's almost no way he should be able to do that to you. if its outside of your third base, a single ling will trigger the stasis trap but unlike widow mines, it goes off almost instantly. so if you send a couple into the area, they'll go off.
oh and here's another question.
protoss that rushes a mothership and carriers/tempest after opening with a void ray. how on earth do i stop it? rush out as much eco as i can and try to 200/200 push him as fast as i possibly can? with what units? upgrades?

No I pretty much cannot survive vs chargelot based builds for the life of me. I dare say they're overpowered at the moment.
Blizzard already said they're looking into nerfing them. As for now you cannot survive most attacks that come before Lurkers. Once you get like ~5 lurkers it becomes pretty easy to stop, but getting to that point is damn near impossible.

i just built a couple of evo chambers on the ramp and jammed mass roaches in the gap. he even proxied the robo for the adept immortal followup but i had lurkers in time for that. i dunno maybe his macro sucked
yeah thinking back on it i didn't have good creep spread outside the third in that game, and the other problem is i didn't see the strategy coming at all because i hadnt faced any stasis play before. i just didn't know they were there. he was poking with blink stalkers and i was trying to position defensively when i just suddenly lost. i guess i need to focus more on surrounding the third with creep and being careful against oracles
a master toss told me you should fight skytoss with corruptor viper but ive never tried it, i was skeptical. it's hard to practice against toss when theres nothing but z on the dia ladder lol
how to fight liberator/tank against a terran who slow pushes with turrets and spreads his units like crazy? i was on mass viper queen ultra hydra and trying to just abduct units, but my control wasn't good enough, i lost too much. does my counter work with good control? just more practice?
Does anyone know the link to the webpage where blizzard anounces results from automated tournaments? They advertise it after an automated tournament is completed.
Hi there! I got into beta yesterday and the first opening I tried was 15 CC without depo (into mech). Is that okay or is there a more effective way to get an early CC?
Also what are the chances we'll see one archon game per proleague match? They had 2on2 before and this could be a cool opportunity for more team in team games.
My third question: what is the best time to play archon mode? We tried 8 PM CET yesterday and the matchmaker was very slow (also we lost every game, but that's to be expected when you have no clue what the new units do etc. ^^)
Is there like a spread sheet somebody has made of all the unit stats for legacy? I feel like some units stats may have been tweeked. Is the cyclone dmg different or is it more an economy thing?
i have a feeling this had been asked but i can't find it any where, i preordered lotv so i could get the beta but i decided that i wish i would have gotten the collectors addiction is there anyways i could upgrade?
Does anyone have a build as a zerg to counter 1 base hellion into Liberator harass? I just don't seem to find the right timings. I tried 4 queens + spore, but it's still hard to micro it. Early lair tech after speed could be an option but it kinda seems a bit too late to counter it. Just need something specific

You can open gasless with several queens and fast 3rd, 1 spore per base and a 2nd spore if you know liberator is coming and are defenseless, the best option is to get a few roaches to deal with the Hellions, and a few Ravagers to deal with the Liberators, I believe 4 Shots will take a liberator down with the Ravager, and also the Terran should be worried about there Liberators when even seeing Ravagers around.
Am I mistaken or is PvP back to Stargate>Robo>DT>Stargate again? Is there any reliable way to win against a stargate opening with a robo? Or for that matter against DTs with a stargate opening?

Yes. Just saw on the starcraft reddit that someone got it recently.
It seems that LotV has a different APM metric than HotS. How do you convert HotS apm to LotV apm? I'd like to see if my speed has improved since I switched over.

I didnt notice any difference, if there is one, it should be minor, but I m not really focused on my apm counter
Hi, how u counter 2 proxies rax and 1 rax in mainbase reaper allin as zerg? You can't scout the proxies, you can't scout mainbase, seeing his natural missing is too late. His reapers will overdps building spines and queens are too late even if you pull all from main base.
Is lotv in blizz time or real time? Not sure. I heard it's suppoed to be real time now. but APM is same as in hots.

I know a lot of people don't drone scout but personally I do.
17h 18p 19g is a safe opening vs just about everything and the first couple reapers can be pushed away with queens. Any more than 2 reapers and you should expect to need to build lings and more queens bc that should be your tell if you didnt scout. One good surround ends the game.
You shouldn't let the libs control your mineral lines. Get ravagers and don't neglect vision around your base so you can see them coming.

Hi i'm searching somewhere an exhaustive list of all patch for legacy of the void.
I'm bit confused because a lot of stuff has been removed and added repeatedely and I would want to know the exact state of the game as for now on to not be confused anymore
How does LotV APM compare to HotS APM?(I know this has been asked already, but i've been looking for half an hour and can't find an answer)Are you faster in LotV than in HotS if you have the same APM?
is there any way to not open muta in zvt on maps where liberators can get dead airspace behind your main or nat mineral line? or is it just asking to die? are we terran against oracles now with a required opener? :/

Probably depends on personal experience. In my case (Protoss, plat/diamond in both HotS and in LotV beta, up to 10 games per week) my APM dropped by about 15% (from 90ish to 70ish) right after transition. I simply had no idea what I was doing, no muscle memory, no instant reactions, essentially I spent more time thinking what to do than actually doing. After 30-40+ games I came back to the HotS level. I played very few games when the macro mechanics were removed, but lack of chronoboost seemed visible.
The main difference I noticed is that I spend much more time microing than macroing - adepts and warp prism are too good not to use them (though in my view not as OP as some people argue) and harassment is rather micro-intensive.
And the game surely feels faster, but this has nothing to do with APM.
Can I cast multiple parasitic bombs on a single target to increase damage taken? Does primary damage from being targeted and splash damage of another bomb stack? What if a unit is in splash area of multiple parasitic bombs?

I don't find any difference, I find both games to require around the same APM to be played well. LotV is far less figured out though.

I'm not sure, but I think it now gives you your 'real' APM. Before you had to multiply by 1.4 to get 'real' APM because the game timer was 1.4 times as fast. Also I think archon mode adds your APMs together but I'm not 100% sure.
how do you deal with mass carriers? I played against a protoss that went straight into carriers after getting 3 base, and kept using the carrier's new skill on my expansions and recalling, thus devastating my base and virtually losing nothing, except for some minerals for interceptors. my composition was mass corruptor + viper, but I wasn't able to chase the carrier ball without taking serious damage from the new skill, and if I managed to reach the ball, he would just recall back to home...
That has been addressed (by Blizzard) - November 10th is the Due Date. That does NOT mean you u should no longer pre-order or try to get into beta-key events - you CAN still get in through either (I got my beta key via EuroGamer - though I don't live in Europe).
How do you deal with disrupters when you use Liberator/bio? The projectile outruns your bio so you have to basically stim and back away, which then allows your liberators to not be protected. if you unseige and run away, you get pot shots taken. Then if you move back into position it just repeats. Most of the time you cant' even really run away in time i find with bio. Very frustrating MU (TvP).
hi is the zerg help me thread for LOTV as well as hots? or just hots?
if not is there a thread or anything for zergs, I would like to switch to zerg for LotV but having a hard time with zvz( the reason i didnt switch in hots or WoL) I can not figure out a good build. I have no clue when to expo, and i mean my first expo, I see so many build in Lotv I am not sure what is good. I have been doing double extractor trick drone to 17-18 then expo but I feel thats really late but then when i expo earlier i feel behind any tip would be great. Please and thank you.

I've seen 8 carriers attacking 1 Ultralisk and it didn't seem to be doing all that much lol.
I mean an Ultralisk has 8 armor, and I think +3 attack interceptors do 8 damage (twice). So in theory that's how it is right?
I've been wondering about a ling into ultra style in zvp where you just counter attack/basetrade. Although I guess they can always add more voids to deal with the ultras.
Anyway every zvp right now is against mass carriers for me.
Edit: I just tested fully upgraded Ultras vs fully upgraded Carriers. The Ultra has 8 Armor and the Interceptors deal 8 damage. But the Ultra still takes 1 damage from every shot and slowly dies. Why is that, can somebody explain?
Edit2: So even a queen which does 7 damage deals 1 damage against an 8 armor Ultralisk. So I guess the minimum amount of damage a unit can deal in Starcraft is 1, regardless of how much armor the target has. TIL .
Edit: I just tested fully upgraded Ultras vs fully upgraded Carriers. The Ultra has 8 Armor and the Interceptors deal 8 damage. But the Ultra still takes 1 damage from every shot and slowly dies. Why is that, can somebody explain?
Every shot does like 0.5 damage, that's the minimum damage possible in the game. Same with zerglings!
Do they deal 8 damage? I thought it was 7 damage at +3.
-------------
What's the best way to deal with protoss who goes 2base stargate with photon overcharge and/or a full wall? Faced one recently, scouted 1 stargate done and 1 on the way - we went to 3 stargates and lost horribly because he had more phoenix. Have hit a few other protoss doing the same, did a few stupid all-ins and didn't even dent them. Not sure how to approach the matchup since this has become popular

Yeah it's 8 damage, but I tested it with a queen which does 7 damage with the same result.
So I guess that 0.5 damage is still 1 damage in reality then right? Since the queen did 1 damage per shot and not per two shots.

You have to select it in the region dropdown. By default it shoud be europe, america oor Korea. There is a LOTV server in this list
On October 10 2015 10:25 aluminati wrote: If you inject larva on hatcheries in lotv will it queue up?
Yes, you can cast multiple injects on a hatchery and they will queue up.
On the same one ???
On the same hatchery yes. A queen with 100 energy can cast 4 injects on a hatchery in a row, and the 4 injects will be queued up. You won't get the 12 larva any faster, since they don't pop at the same time. But you don't have to inject for the next 2 minutes.
Of course you should still aim for hitting every inject once you have 25 energy, to get the larva as fast as possible. So this won't change much at the highest level of play.
It's still a nice change though for lower level players. I guess it also helps high level players, since sometimes when you want to inject and there are still 2-3 seconds for the previous inject to pop, you no longer have to wait.
ZvP, how do I a) scout and b) defend a proxy 3 gate or similar? (let's assume a 2 player map)
My build is 17 hatch, 17 pool, 17 gas, 21 Queens x 2, Lings x 2. I don't drone scout but I send first ovie to his ramp, and the lings across the map.
Should I be able to scout his base before it's too late with my ovie/lings? What do I do if I scout it (2 crawlers? extra queens? take guys off gas?).
One guy did a version of this as pylon at top of main ramp>gateway>proxy pylon>proxy gateway x 3 -> zealots. When I got to his main with my lings I saw a gate and nothing else, I assumed it was gate->zealot->nexus and droned. What timing should nexus be if it's gate>nexus?
Would I be better off just drone scouting because it doesn't cost as much % of income as it used to?
How do I stop early liberators as zerg? Tank/medivac gets to my mineral line at 4 minutes, and then the liberator is sieging my mineral line at 5:00. The ravager range upgrade used to be able to deal with liberators, but now I can't hit it with queens, hydra, or even ravagers!
What role does the sentry now have in the three Protoss matchups? I find it hard to see them being worth the massive gas investment anymore now that they are so easily negated.

A normal bio composition with liberator support should do just fine. If there are many archons I would suggest adding Ghosts as well. How many libs will depend on ratios of his units.
If you buy a hardcopy of LotV do you still have to download the game? This sounds really dumb I know but I swear that when I bought my copy of HotS it still downloaded the game during installation rather than installing it straight off the disc.

You can cast larvae inject on a hatchery while it's halfway through a previous inject and it will queue the second inject and start working on it once the first one finishes

So I just realised oh hey the EU server is live and you can apparently switch servers no problem. So I've started downloading the update for the EU server. My question is, can you switch back and forth between the two servers, and if I've updated the game to LotV for EU will I need to have a separate update for NA?
It used to be 16 workers and every worker was equally efficient (well not actually, as the closest minerals were mined faster). And you could add up to 24. The 25th worker did nothing.
Is it the same now just with 16? Does the 17th worker do nothing extra? I saw Rotti going 18/16 every game.
So, now that Blizzard made the arbitrary decision of removing the option to disable tooltips.. is there any 'hidden' way of removing those annoying newb tooltips ? Maybe a variables.txt line? I didn't find it

This is the same. Mining itself isn't touched, only difference is that some patches have less minerals. Which part of the community is very upset about.

Ha ha ofc it's frustrating to be lost. I'm playing only unranked atm to play a bit more lightly. Protoss doesn't have such a lot of new stuff anyway.
And I think being safe vs everything is just impossible atm. Just try to scout diligently, deal with the unavoidable bo losses and adjust your openings to be safe vs the timings you identify.

If you warp in from a Warp Prism or Pylon near a Nexus/Warpgate then it takes 5 seconds, otherwise it takes 16. I think.
Just wondering, as terran, roughly how much production can 1 base support, 2 base, etc.? I've been going bio, so mostly just raxes, but I'm starting to run into this problem where I tend to have some banked and overestimate how many raxes I can actually produce from
I've a question about zerg and more particulary about group control.
So basically, when I group my army in 1 and then later on I add new units/eggs, there's already other units out going to the base of my opponent for exemple, is when I press back on that group control when i'm look in my base for example, It'll go on my eggs and not on my units that is in my opponent base for example or near it, so it's quite frustating and I lose precious time/macro cause of this.
Is there anyway to adjust it?
TL;DR : How to lock my camera on my units in my control group that are already out outside of the map instead off eggs ?

Most high level players seem to go nexus before core. I do too. Remember it only takes two shots from a pylon to kill a reaper. First pylon cover part of mineral line, and leave room for buildings (block path of reapers and hellions). Second cover the other part. The 3rd pylon at back of nat. And then you can go either ramp or back of nat with the 4th. The 5th has to be front. I like to have two close to ramp. And preferably place your next gateways behind them. So warpins are easier.
Dealing with reapers is a lot about mama in this game. And basics. Which means sim city.
You could open mama and adept after core is done. Should take care of everything, once you learn to control.
I actually don't think terrans will be going for the standard reaper we saw in HOTS against P. It's too easy to kill now. And it doesn't cost much energy. And there are pylons all over, so it's never safe.
If it's mass reapers you're having trouble with just keep mama between main and nat, and chrono adepts. Use it's ability to at least screen them. At best catch and kill them.

Position your pylons in such a way that a reaper is within 7 range when it jump up a cliff. Photon overcharge kills them in 2 shots (in other words, basically garaunteed) for only 25 energy, so it's worth it. Also adepts 3 shot them and the shade moves faster than a reaper.

Well, the answer to that question is a lot more complicated now that half a base mines out much earlier. What's probably happening is that you're getting your production up, then starting to mine out of patches, so your income decreases, making it feel like you overmade production.
I typically use the same production I would from HotS, but I don't get my three base production until I have my fourth (i.e. I take my fourth off of 5 rax then go up to 8 rax) because by the time that production would finish, I'm usually half mined out in my main and natural anyway so I can't afford to use it.

Is it just me or is the "End of an Era" achievement (Complete all SC2 Campaigns) bugged? Here's my profile: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/profile/2140976/1/BAMF/achievements/category/4346203 Both here and in-game the achievement suggests that I've only completed the LotV campaign, when in fact I've actually finished the first two on brutal.
Is there any way to change the game speed in the coop missions? Its not on fastest if I play with a noob friend (lower difficulty) which is kinda really painfull :0
All the 4 player maps seem broken to me. One with two paths into nats. One with a far away 3rd, and even nat. Then there is Ruins of Seras, which is absolutely broken vs Terran.
On November 14 2015 15:21 FusionCutter wrote: Will LOTV be a more interesting game to watch? (I assume it will be). What aspect of LOTV will make the game "more fun to watch" exactly?
The idea is to cut down the downtime at the start of the game, and then have increased harassment. Compared to some hots games that could have limited interactions for a fairly long while followed by a single game ending battle. So in general more interactions between the players per minute of game. Which supposedly gives more fun games to watch.

Nah I noticed the same thing. Don't really feel like testing it by recompleting the other two campaigns, so hopefully Blizz fixes that.
Is it better (as protoss) to only macro off warp gates? It seems like based on the CDs that it would be ideal to have a mix of normal gates and a few warp gates for sneaky drops/rapid base defense.

Mmmmm....no. Normal gates really are useless after the opening. It's always better to have the flexibility of the warp-in.
Unless I"m missing something in your line of thinking...
Well with Terran, if you hit a food cap, you can queue up troops in your production facilities so that way, as your troops die new forces are being built while you're off microing a battle. (Zerg can also at least hit the hatch hotkey and spam more units while still observing the battle)
As protoss, if you're not spamming warp-in during the middle of a battle back at your base to keep up with that production, then you get behind. The downside being you have to look away from the battle. I find that most people look away just before a battle if food supply allows to spam troops and RIGHT after a battle when they have won/lost.
Wouldn't it be ideal to have some normal gates queue'd up to replace some troops as they are dying/you're microing to save post battle build up time?
I know I'm reallllly stretching the simple question rule here and I understand if I should take this to another thread.

do you not realize that warpins take much, much, much less time than building from a normal gateway?

Matches you play in automated tournaments count as ladder matches, so you can be promoted during one. You you are 1st, you also win a trophy for the SWAG.
The main difference with ladder would be the format (ie BO3), instead of only random BO1. You can ban maps, look at your opponent historic and so on.
I'll continue with the tourney question> I haven't played a match in 1v1 yet. If I go to tournaments with what players will I be playing? Anyone tried this?
I missed out on some solarite (d'oh) and dont have the 300 achievement. What's the easiest/quickest way to go back and get them all? I don't remember which missions i missed them. Is there anyway besides replaying the whole game?
On November 19 2015 05:30 Odowan Paleolithic wrote: What is the earliest zergling a zerg can get? How about marines or zealot?
Obviously in LOTV, the fastest you can get any of the basic units is to save for pool/rax/gate, then build your unit. For protoss chronoboost your gate once it is built. This question used to be a lot more complicated before the worker count was increased to 12.

You can check this on your achievement list, or in the campaign screen of your choice. You don't need to go through all the missions again, just check what you missed in each mission there.
Hey! Is there a way to get the loading screens of the campaign to use as wallpapers? I remember the WoL ones to be easy to find but could'nt (yet?) for LOTV.
Obviously i could screen capture each one of them but there would still be the loading bar at the bottom or the writings for the epilogue artworks

They changed the MPQ to some new system called Content Addressable Storage Container..
Hopefully you can use the too provided by Ladislav Zezula (who also made the mpq viewer)
Everytime I log in, the blizzard chat would pop up in game, even though I unchecked the box in the option screen countless times, it automatically enables for me.

It uses your MMR to find 7 or 15 players roughly around your skill level. If you haven't played any 1v1, then it will use whatever the seed value is, which is basically the mean average of the ladder spectrum. I believe this to be around mid-Gold.
Got a question abot RU/CIS virtual keys, i've got bnet account where both EU and CIS starcraft account are merged, what if I buy RU/CIS virtual key and add it to my bnet account, what's gonna happen? Will I be able to play with both my game account or only with a single one which gonna be RU?
When I order a probe that has a mineral to build a building, and just tell it to return the mineral afterwards with shift (and the assigned key. I think "c" is default), it just goes to Nexus and goes idle. It used to go back to mining. I used this a lot, as it was actually faster, to use probes that had minerals, because you didn't have to go back to mineral patch (camera hotkey) and press the darn things.
Has this been in any of the patchnotes in Legacy beta? I haven't seen it, but I haven't read them. Maybe it was an invisible update... which has been seen before in this game.
Is there any way to fix this, as it is pissing me off, discovering idle probes a few minuts after?
On November 24 2015 01:27 PuercoPop wrote: What is the new 4 gate? Or is 4 gate still the goto 1 base all-in it was in WoL, albeit much faster (~3:56)
It wasn't the goto 1 base all-in in WoL. Only in beta and for the first 6 months. In PvP it lasted a longer.
No one 4-gated late WoL in PvT and PvZ. Well... VERY rarely in PvZ. Never in PvT, as it couldn't win past diamond league.
You're not supposed to 1-base in this game.
In PvZ and PvT, no decent 1-base build seems to exist atm. In PvP, there is a single one I see the GM players use/face. It's a proxy robo 5 gate. With warp prism for fast warpins.
If you really want to all in, you should do it off two bases. Or even three. You can do it off all three tech paths, against all races, if you are smart about it.
one of my (NA) accounts is in low diamond and out of the blue im only facing gm's (avilo, agilezerg etc) and top top masters (mostly ex gm's). i dont lose a lot of points and they dont gain much but there is no joy in it for anyone. 29 games, 1 normal diamond opponent. Im trying to learn the game, but this is just bullshit. Im already not fond of LOTV and this doesnt contribute to continue playing this game at all.
Hmmm.. will hashtag meme ever die No, the game is not dead. There is something called MMR, you can read about it, or just think about what you are saying statistically with the distribution of leagues in mind.

MMR doesnt change out of the blue to GM mmr, think about that. Anyway, it doesnt matter, cant be bothered with lotv anymore.
Buddy of mine left his league and among his placements opponents were Lambo, uThermal and TLO. It's probably a bug. I was about top 400 in hots and rarely played gm, currently I'm also top 400 in legacy and I'm facing GMs consistently, maybe they're more liberal with the range of matchmaking.
In co-op what would be the easyest way to get "Solar Fury" from artanis (kill 50 units with a single strike of artanis's solar bombardment on hard) and the "Roach Rampage" from Zagara (kill 100 units with the infested drop in a single mission). So far i havn't been able to get anywhere close to the amount needed

Fair enough :p I have to go right now so I can't look for it: if it not in this thread, it might be in the 100% achievement one, but I remember seeing couple people talking about those achievements (especially the roach drop one).
Just wondered if there is any achievement for the epilogue missions on brutal? The 19 brutal missions achievement in story mode is covered by the main campagne missions...
Simple question, how many maps typically rotate in and out from one season to the next? If I prepare detailed builds on the 7 maps we have will I have 4 new maps and 4 obsolete builds come January?
I'm trying to get 100% achievements (in total, not just campaign) and i'm doing the 'vs (elite) ai' games as random (and then as each race)
but i was wondering with the new expansion, are there any "new" fast ways to beat elite ai with every race? so far i do: Z -> fast 2 base, speedling mass T -> 3 rax, hit with stim P -> I have no idea how to do fast games with p :D so i mainly just expand into 9001 gates

only a few hard missions and the regular ones with no difficulty setting. no brutal ones
Lately i have a lot of people leaving co-op games in the first few seconds of the game ... If i play alone and win the game, do they get a free win like in teamgames?

I've completed all missions on both NA and EU, and went back to play with different restrictions. Like all stalkers and zealots and all maps. This has been working fine.
But for some reason: Today I do not have the same amount of solarite to spend in each mission as I used to. The carrier mission (Templar's Charge or something) I only have 85 to spend. Meaning I cannot use the healing thing. And every single time I've played each mission I have completed all bonus objectives. Why has this happened? Can I fix it?

Keep reloading saves and returning to the Spear of Adun until it fixes itself.

Proxy gate forge is still strong. Rally zealots in while you cannon rush.
Against Z you can just do regular gateway proxy. Or if you cannon the lowground/expo you can lure the AI units into cannon range, before pushing in. (because you cant cannon on creep).
How do you kill adepts? with ground units... every fcking tvp the same shitty adept push and i die to it every time. lots of bio, tanks, blueflame hellions, doesnt matter, everything melts. disgusting unit
Did they do something like different mmr for each race now? Cause I just had a ladder match against a high masters terran playing zerg and I´m Gold lol. Really fun game though, he made about 50 mutas and rolled me^^

Not yet I don't believe. Separate MMR per race is something which I believe they plan to implement along with greater ladder changes in 2016.
If, say, I early expand and by the time my nexus finishes i have exactly 16 probes mining. Is it relevant whether I transfer workers or produce from both nexi and rally to the new expo?

If you only have 2 probes per mineral patch then there's very little to gain (income) and a lot to lose (lost mining time while running)
Is it possible to change the default color in matchmaking to something other than red/blue/green? I know in the past it wasn't possible. I want to be able to change the default color to something more appealing to myself.
Can I go into the starcraft settings outside of the game to change the preset colors? Even if this is only viewable on my own game.

If I make a custom game on "faster" speed and bring it down to "slower" once the game starts, my first rax starts at let's say 41 "seconds" in. This is the timing I hopefully can also hit when playing on ladder and so on, and all is well.
However, if I create a custom game with PRESELECTED "slower", my first rax starts at 1 min 35 seconds. Is there some reason for WANTING the clock to behave this way? Is there some technical reason for it I'm not seeing? Or is it just a bug?
Sometimes I just love to play extra slow to have time to really appreciate my own dumb builds (or micro like a god), and if I do this with a friend vs 2 AI I don't even know if we CAN get the "correct" timer except at full speed, which is kind of frustrating.
Is LotV worth buying? I would have to convert my gaming lappy from Ubuntu to Windows just to get some video games on it. A lot of my time, money & planning is going to my car or my bike these days
I have never played any RTS games before and I got LOTV a few weeks ago, but I haven't been playing it before now. I have almost finished the campaign on normal and I'm doing some bot matches to get a feel for the difference between the single player and the campaign. I'm wondering about playing ladder games. I'm not at all familiar with the all the hotkeys, especially when it comes to buildings, I'm still mouse-overing to see what a certain building does. I did the calibration bot matches and the game placed me against easy AI, which I feel like I can beat more often than not with my ridic mass stalker strat. I realize that I need more than mass stalkers on the ladder. Should I keep playing bot matches until I got the hotkeys down before I hop on the ladder? I'm not afraid of getting into bronze, I just want to be able to play without losing more than 50-55% (to start with). Should I stick to bots for now if I want to immediately reach my goal of being competitive in bronze?
hey guys, i'm getting game crash on load due to "core access permission error". Anyone know what's the deal here? I browsed through bnet forums and one of solutions was "scan & repair" which did nothing for me. The only other solution suggested there was to reinstall the game or even format hdd. So I tried reinstall as well, took me another day since I don't have that fast internet. Also, I'm not gonna certainly format hdd ever in order to play the game, so is there anything possible for me to do in order to play the game?
Man I've been trying to beat the Brutal Salvation last mission for hours.
I saw some people did it on YT but I skipped around so maybe I'm missing something, but how the fuck.
Everytime I get to about 88% or 98% (9s and 8s look the same) when the massive protoss attacks from all angles, I just get rekt.
Their builds are like mass voids and cyber walls + canons everywhere and a few collosus. The protoss waves just smash through this in seconds. The rest of the map is super easy.

Void rays are the key. Create a lot of them, upgrade them and put a lot of canons on the entrances.

Nah. You lose to the mass at the end. So basically what I figured out is that is that the only hard part is the final golden armada ground+air attack. And it's mainly the immortals that do you in.
I also realized that of the 20 attempts I was dying 20 sec before the map ends every time. So I just pulled workers to spam nexus and cores and pylons to buy time. And used the voids to pick off immortals that made it to the front of thenkeystone. While the goons wall the rest of the shit out.

Hi there, I only recently picked up starcraft 2 after putting it off for so long. My gaming experience has been mostly in MoBAs, MMos, and FPS, I did play a bit of warcraft 3 back in middle school and tried my hand at brood war i think once or twice in LAN with couple of friends of mine around the same time. My basic grasp is there but I find myself whenever I go up against other players(non-AI) struggling with my economy or focusing to much on upgrades rather than my army and then getting stomped not even 10 mins in. My army by about min 6 consists of about 6-10 zealots, 4-8(if lucky)stalkers and maybe 2-3 immortals(or a colossus) not to long before the time of this post I had a match against another protoss player who somehow had like 20-something stalkers and 4 void rays. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Please if any experienced protoss players can help me I would be most appreciative.

Post a replay of the said game and I can take a look. In general I'd suggest posting to r/allthingsprotoss okebty of good protoss players there willing to take a look at your replays/give tips.
Is it possible to disable seeing my enemies league, both - in the loading screen his/her boarder around the picture and after game finishes in the score screen? (because it defeats the purpose of playing unranked imo)
Is it possible to just partially disable unit response sounds? To have a sound when they are produced but no sound when i am selecting or ordering them. (like watching a replay from a players perspective).
Which variables.txt option enables seeing units that are behind rocks or buildings (like shiny figures)? Seen some streamers have it (WinterGaming for exampe).
Sup sons, I have been inactive from SC2 for a bit, but I am writing a dissertation in my MA about eSports and the relationship between pro gamers and video game developers and how it is shaping video game design. I was informed, on reddit, that Blizz held a conference for LotV with pro players to address game design, balance, etc, in the run up to the creation of LotV.
Now, I am struggling to find info on this conference (what players attended, what they discussed, what (if anything) got implemented, etc). It would be great for my research to be able to find this conference if anyone has a link or more info I would really appreciate it
Hi there, my old rank in SC2 WoL was diamond, in LotV i have played the placement matchs and got silver, so far so good. But the problem is that i am only facing high plat and mid diamonds. So it's very hard for me to win the games and i get the feeling that climbing will be very dificult, anyone with the same problem? Ps.: I already quit the league tried the placement again and got silver again. 3/2 and the first time 3/2 too. My MMR is 3775
3775 is in the high Platinum range. You are playing against those players because they are statistically fair matches for you. Your real question here is why are you not Platinum? The answer is because when you start new (5 placement matches), you have a provisional MMR which lasts for up to 25 games (you can see what your provisional MMR is by hovering over the ? icon on the match results screen). It inhibits promotions and makes your initial league placement intentionally conservative. Leaving League isn't going to get around it.
