[VOD] $2k Map Contest TL Open sponsored by TLAF
December 7th, 2011 05:13 GMT
Registration opens on Thursday, Dec 08 11:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) Tournament begins on Saturday, Dec 10 5:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00)
Team Liquid Map Contest TL Open (NA) Casted by Orb A few months ago, with the blessing of Blizzard, we ran a contest looking for some new maps. After a month of hard work and careful judging, we named seven finalists and now we are ready to show them off in a tournament. This TL Open will use exclusively these maps, giving a chance for people to show off their creations in a best-of-3 format. The maps (seen below) will be the only maps played throughout this event, even when picking for second and third games. There will be no ladder maps in the map pool. Unlike previous TL Opens, best-of-3 matches will begin at the Round of 64. Rounds of 512, 256, and 128 will be best-of-1. Structure will be the same as normal TL Opens - Bo1 until Ro16 and then Best-of-3. Click here to view early registered players for this week.
Team Liquid Map Contest TL Open Details Registration for the tournament will open Thursday, Dec 08 11:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00). Check-in begins on Saturday, Dec 10 4:30pm GMT (GMT+00:00). Tournament begins on Saturday, Dec 10 5:15pm GMT (GMT+00:00). View details and register here. This tournament will have a prize pool of $2,000, with $1,000 going to the winner. The prize pool is sponsored by The Little App Factory. Professional players can PM Hot_Bid for early registration. Please include Bnet NA id, code #, race, and country. For those that haven't participated in a TL Open before, it's a great opportunity to play in a well-run event broadcast by some great commentators. If you'd like to help cast the earlier rounds of a TL Open, feel free to apply here.
The Maps You can find these maps on NA/SEA/EU by searching for [TLMC].
Burning Altarby Samro225am and TPW
- Features 3 bases per main, all spawn points enabled - Xel'Naga towers do not give away too much information, a careful opponent can avoid its reach but a lazy opponent will walk in plain view - When destroyed, rocks shorten attack paths to your opponents third, but also allow you to defend your own third quicker - Map allows for both aggressive play and long macro games which means no strategies are eliminated on this map Cloud Kingdomby Superouman and ESV
- 2 player map with an easy to defend natural - Many variations in terrain make deciding where to battle a pivotal decision - Expansions become progressively more difficult to take as the game progresses - Allows for clever tactical troop management and makes for long macro games - Affectionally named "Bobby's Flying Castle" during test games, upon playing the map this name should be clear Havens Lagoonby Timetwister22
- Map increases in height as more and more expansions are taken - Map emphasizes exploiting the height differences to gain an advantage - Rewards players for controlling their units well and taking slightly longer paths for better position - Allows for a variety of playstyles including air and harass based play due to the large space between mains - One of the most enjoyed maps by playtesters Korhal Compoundby monitor and ESV
- Formerly known as Daggoth Crater - Features a natural flow to taking expansions - Often results in split map situations where careful navigation around the middle is required - The towers are useful in defence, but can easily be acquired by an attacker - Usually results in long macro games Ohanaby IronManSC and TPW
- Extremely technical map with many features - Backdoor doesn't prove to be imbalanced as the second ramp allows you a second chance to defend - Expansion layout only allows you to claim 4 bases with ease, you really have to work for the last base - Many back passageways to allow players to do surprise attacks and counter attacks with ease Sanctuaryby Grebliv and ESV
- Three player rotational symmetry with minimal positional imbalance - Controlling the other main allows you to get an extra base in a split map scenario - Map allows for standard macro play and key chokepoints around your third allow for good defensive positions - An aggressive player can hold the Xel'Naga Watchtower and gain vision of the entire center, making this an important point to control - Movement around the sides of the map can lead to surprise flanks Twilight Peaksby Ragoo and LoS
- 4 Player map with 3 bases per main, rotational symmetry with minimal positional imbalance - The third looks easy to take on this map, but the towers give you a false sense of security and can lead to aggressive play off of two or three bases - Once aggression has settled, players can easily obtain 5 bases and fight over the remaining 2 bases - Allows for a diverse number of strategies to be played
Remember these maps can be found on NA/SEA/EU by searching for [TLMC]. Good luck and happy practicing! If you are interested in sponsoring a Team Liquid Open or one of our other events, please see our advertising / sponsorship page.

Blizzard should take a couple of these maps
|
|
Wow this is exciting.
|
Finally^^
Hope this gets some attention from all the tournament organizers.
|
I think this tournament should be a much bigger deal. This is going to change the future of SC2 maps. It should have a prizepool that actually gets players to think about the exploits that can be preformed on the maps, and how their strategies change on the maps. I'm thinking like 6k. The money should come from Blizzard or donations.
|
This is going to be siiiiiccckkkk!! I hope it goes well.
|
blizzard should add a few of these to the ladder, and some tournaments should use the best ones i want new maps everywhere!
out with the old its time for a map revolution

I agree 200 is far too low, TL opens in general don't happen too often and this is a special one, would be great if someone could come in with at least a few hundred more.
|
This is going to be so brilliant.
Edit: Yeah, does seems like a measly prize pool. Unless these are going to get used for other tournies it is a little unfair on the map makers. They put a lot of time and effort into these, the competition should reflect that. You can't really examine the benefits or defficencies of a map in a short tournament without major players. These maps need exposure, I hope this gets them that.
|
This should be quite the interesting tournament with all these cool maps
Good job TL keeping things interesting :D
|
Really excited to see these maps played on! And also very curious to see how the games on Haven's Lagoon will play out.
|
Woot + Orb casting. Siiiiiiiiick
|
A couple look good. But the important thing is that we're getting more different maps played, which is awesome
|
Very excited about this. Map makers achieving what they've always wanted, recognition and possible ladder spots. Victory!
And I'm rooting for Burning Altar as my fav. Seems the most balanced imo, and also some cool new aesthetic ideas.
|
Orb casting and maps that look original and fun? Very nice, very nice indeed. I am going to be looking forward to this. Cloud Kingdom and Haven's Lagoon both look like they'll be very fun to play and watch.
|
The design of these maps could create interesting matches. I'm sure most would be interested to see the outcome!
|
This is going to be really badass. The maps look beautiful, unique, and fun. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the tournament that changes the state of map pools today. Hopefully we'll get to see a competitive and interesting player pool to support this. Can't wait, very exciting.
|
Could we just make this the new blizzard map pool? Please?
|
Gosh darn i always have to work during these!
|
Can someone please remake Gaema Gowon?

TLAF is now sponsoring the tournament, the prize pool has been increased to $2,000.
|
|
YES! That's fantastic news! I can't wait to see some pro matches all over these. I hope we get an alert on the top right of the site, like NASL had, so most peeps get a chance to check it out.
|
This is possibly the coolest idea for a tourney yet, I really hope this gets huge support and some of these amazing looking maps get put into the huge tourneys' rotations. Or maybe the ladder.
Both. Both is the best possible result.

If you think new maps are cool, tell all your friends to check this out!
I am sooooo curious how many top top players will be dropping by.
I'm freakin out. !!!!
GLHF ;D
+ Show Spoiler [kudos] +btw congrats to ironman and monitor for having their maps featured ( as seen here) as first game in the semis and finals. ;D
|
Holy awesome, can't wait for this. Thanks to TL, TLAF and the map makers for this!!
|
The lack of cross regional play makes me really sad when stuff like this comes around and I can't even enter for it. Hope it goes well though, looking forward to seeing the maps in action.
|
damn. that map that increases in height. wtf. amazing. and that map with all the technical details. shit. blizz make this map pool!
|
Ha, how awesome is TLAF!
TL sets up an awesome comp and the only complaint is the prize doesn't really warrant the amount of work being put in, TLAF ups the prize pool ten fold.
|
I thought I was crazy, I could have sworn the prize pool was $200. Turns out my mind just couldn't comprehend how awesome TLAF was fast enough! Can't wait to see players play these awesome maps. HUGE step in the right direction!
|
am i hallucinating or did the prize pool get multiplied by 10?
|
I watched Ohana from its early stages. that's a really cool map. Iron Man did a great job.
|
Hahaha nice prize pool. We're gonna see some great players and games for sure!
|
I keep thinking Team Liquid Air Force when I see TLAF haha.

Wow! Speedy response to feedback! TLAF and TL <3. It isn't 6k, but a 1000% increase is more than I expected.
|
These are gorgeous I totally agree that blizzard should adopt these.

|
2k seems to be a bit too much for this.

Thanks TLAF! I'd buy more shit from you if I didn't already own all your shit <3

Wow looks so goooooood! I LOVE how most of the maps are with bright textures, so fucking sick of dark twilight maps from blizzard jesus. Haven's Lagoon looks so much fun.
Oh and yeah thanks TLAF for sponsoring! o/
|
Awesome. Great to see TL supporting the mapmaking community
|
Very cool idea, and a nice prize pool too.
|
I like Ohana. It inspires me.
|
2k for a TL open is significant, especially with the new maps involved , looking forward to this!

|
|
Finally a change of scenery for the matches.
|

|
This is awesome! Looking forward to watching games.

|
those are some sick maps. very excited

Thanks TLAF!
Now we gonna get like every good player! Blizz take notes on how these maps go down!
|
I was about to correct guys saying 200 prize money :p
Awesome TLAF, will definitely watch this tourney casted!
Now we just gotta hope that some pro's will want to try out new maps for a chance of that prizepool :D
|
Is this the map contest in which Blizzard would take the winning entry and make it a ladder map? Or am I mistaken? Either way, awesome tourney. Very exciting and I'll be watching for sure.

only twilight peaks seems fine, the rest maps: bw-like, so many corners and turns.
|
Awesome, can't wait to watch this. Hopefully a lot of good players sign up and practice a few games in advance^^

Really hope some of these make it into ladder play. They all look amazing!

Well, this is a special case. Blizzard went out and said that they would consider these maps for the ladder when the map competition was announced.
|
Man this is gonna be sick. Also prodiG casting, sounds like Orb casting too and 3 maps in the pool... ESV Represent!
|
All of these maps look awesome, amazing job map making community!
|
nice 2000 instead of 200 kick ass
|
That this both exists and has such a great prize (gogo TLAF!) brings a smile.
|
Sad that its only for NA, especially this kind of a tournament

Well I did see DBrowder talk to (Kennigit?) in an interview and maps were brought up and he said it was more a community-driven thing, so perhaps if any of these maps become a hit they'll add them down the line. Would be nice
(remove xel'naga!)

Will be watching for sure - those maps look good and the prize money isn't too shabby either!
|
I still think they should add bunch of community maps into map pool and instead of you being able to ignore them, they would be ignored by default and you could voluntarily permit these maps.
|
Wow, Haven's Lagoon looks really innovative and fun. I'm looking forward to this.
|
Will be fun to see what the pros come up with to deal with these maps.

That's great to hear, I really hope we get to see more custom maps in international tournaments soon. Is there a general consensus among the pros that using ladder maps is fine, because I haven't hard much of a cry for custom maps from pros outside of Korea?
|
|
This will be amazing as we will get how pros handle and approach each different map, as well as seeing how the average player approaches each map.
One thing to see is how well each player does on something so unfamiliar

this is what makes mapmaker produce more maps and such a tournament will not only help with recognition, but also with a new perspective on the game itself - and better map quality on long term.
so looking forward to this great tournament!

I'm so glad someone like you would take the time already and not only play them but comment them as well. As a map-maker, it's a dream to have a pro player even say something about it.
|
Haven's Lagoon... the map actually changes as you play? (Even if it's just height.) Woah.
|
I'd love if this could have an even bigger prize pool to attract more attention to these maps. The game will be better when there is a clear path from the mapmaking teams to the ladder. This event will help make that path an the bigger the event the better. If there were a paypal link on the front page where people could ad to the prize pool I'd throw in ten bucks.
|
the haven's lagoon reskin looks nice. Looking forward to this tournament.
|
3 days. So this is during WGC?
|
Maps are FANTASTIC!
I am completely blown away that TL citizens can make these and Blizzard's paid programers can't pull it off.
Shows you how great our community is (;
|
Maps look awesome! gona DL and try some out with my buds for sure! ^^
On another note, in the list of players, TLO is singed as a terran. Is this a mistake or is he reverting back once again?
|
haven's lagoon looks super interesting , i hope some of these maps get more recognision.
|
omg make this ladder pool. looks fun.
|
These maps look amazing. Hopefully this toureny will allow them to be tweaked to perfection, and then they can be added to the ladder/other tournaments!
|
I am very interested to see the matches on these maps. The ladder maps have been "WTF terribad" imo EDIT: Ohana looks so goddamn sexy, props to the creator
|
The maps are beautiful and TLAF is awesome. I bet the full 512 people sign up for this. Chance to play for 2000 dollars in an open tournament? Seems good.

Looks nice put them as map pool for ladder.

No way I'm missing this TL Open!
|
|
This is awesome beyond belief, I've always thought that old worn-out beta maps is something that's keeping SC2 down a little.
Aside from this, it's ridiculous beyond belief that we've had to beg Blizzard essentially since release to add decent maps.

Sweet. TL actually committing to a new map pool tourney.
Feeling like this will be a zerg tournament as the naturals look a bit iffy for PvZ on some of these maps. Still should be awesome.

I have always found it interesting that fans are easily capable of coming up with more balanced and interesting maps than Blizzard itself. My personal vote either goes to Sanctuary or Twilight Peaks.

These maps look amazing, especially cloud kingdom, so nice to look at.
|
Yeah, they are nice maps. I have been playing on them almost exclusively for the past few weeks. Haven's Lagoon, Ohana, and Cloud Kingdom are by far the most fun.
|
Im a huuuuge fan of Cloud Kingdom since Ive seen so many amazing games on it on ESV TV
|
I wish I played at a high enough level to have a fighting chance in the first round, I've always thought a tournament would be a lot of fun. The maps look great though, congratulations to all of the mappers involved.

|
Glad to see Haven's Lagoon got done up a bit graphic wise. Still not the prettiest of maps but significantly better than it was and gameplay wise it's great.
Rest of them look nice as well.

Surprised ppl are so excited for heaven lagoon when it looks like a remake of crap station... sure the height thing looks interesting but still it looks very similar to me. Besides not having destructible rocks in the middle.
nevertheless cool tournament. will tune in. thx TLAF.
|
On December 08 2011 08:13 Divinek wrote: i miss island expansions
Don't worry I already have plans to convince all the mapmakers to use islands more often.
Right now nobody really thinks about islands and if they do they always think it's terran biased unfortunately...
+ Show Spoiler [on island balance] + If islands aren't close to the main/nat they suck for terran TvZ and if they are not in blink range they suck even more for Protoss in PvZ at the moment. Mutas just have way too much air control both offensively and defensively and nydus makes it quite easy to stop the rest. Additionally islands need to be blocked with low HP destructibles to hinder terran from randomly floating bases there early in the game.
If Blizzard really adds an anti muta air unit like Tempest for Protoss that would help islands PvZ and they wouldn't need to be in Blink range.
If you do it correctly they are balanced and add another dimension like they did in Brood War.

The only similarity is that Crap Station and Haven's Lagoon are both 2p mirrored maps. That's it.
|
This is interesting, I'm really disappointed that Blizzard have not taken the initiative with something like this and put a larger prize-pool behind it so that pro-players are more interested to try the maps.
I mean, this is a good effort, but I really want to see something bigger that will have all the pro players. Without a prize-pool or an organisation like Kespa saying "play this tournament and give us feedback" is it really expected to be a successful event?
Either way I'll be watching intently, can't wait!!!
(and mad props to TL, TLAF and all map-makers involved for taking the initiative.)

I think $2k is enough to attract a decent amount of good players. These are the ones registred so far:
1 LuckyFool 2 Spades 3 RGNinori 4 coL.CatZ 5 Liquid`Jinro 6 Agh 7 avilo 8 Liquid`TLO 9 -Illusion- 10 desRow 11 Liquid`Zenio 12 Kyhol 13 GoSuNamhciR 14 viOLet 15 iNkA 16 goswser 17 Destiny
That's a decent starting point I'd say.

those maps are decent and some of them are quite good but if you look at this lagoon map for example .... well lets say this would be a bad thing to do since the maps we have in the current ladder pool are quite decent

I definitely agree we shouldn't just swap over to this map pool, but the sooner community maps can get some exposure and serious feedback the sooner we can get some actual quality maps in the ladder pool.

All of the maps shown looks incredible good. TL Open with these maps will be so much more fun to watch.

Anybody else think Korhal Compound looks EXACTLY like Dual Sight (except different tile set and slightly different elevations)?

I've confirmed that [TLMC] Ohana is not up to date. There were minor changes made to the rocks at the 9 and 3 bases, as well as removing tree doodads in various places to increase FPS. Can someone please tell me where I can upload my map file and PM it to an administrator?
|
You'd think it'd be easy to make a good map but I can't imagine making anything quite like that. All of them look great!
|
I love how everyone complained about Havens Lagoon so now it's only going to be played in only a single round despite it bring "One of the most enjoyed maps by playtesters" xD Guess it's not enjoyable enough for anything higher than a Bo1 to be played on it!
Regardless, I can't wait to see these homebrewed maps played by progamers! Jinro, Zenio, Inori amongst many others are already signed up.

As the finals draw near, the matches increase to bo3, bo5, and bo7. Which means haven's lagoon will definitely be played more than once.

I'm seeing a lot of far away 3rd's.
Burning Altar reminds me of Typhon Peaks for some reason

I just got out of a replay on Burning Altar. It's absolutely gorgeous as far as aesthetics and texture work goes, but the orange lighting is a bit emphasized too much. It's supposed to reflect the lava and give it a "heated" atmosphere, but the orange really stands out, especially if you make your race color orange. Other than that, the 3rd is pretty far away on this map. beautiful map though.

Liquid, oGs, and Destiny have signed up.
Damn.

I'm a plat player, but i'm still gonna win no worries.

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=285258 Just Like the First one a larger tournament announces a date as the same day but announced it way after us.
I like the idea, I am just wishing it wasn't the same day.
During the First eXe NA Open, Blizz had their Invitational, now there is this tournament to annoy me. I really don't like how large tournament announce them just a few days beforehand, its really frustrating planning a tournament for months and having it show tons of Promise, then a big tournament announces itself just 3 days before that they are having this big tournament on the same day and everyone just has to watch it. I mean, Jinro Signed up for our tournament, we kindof used that to advertize a little bit, but I mean, who can blame us, and now this tournament comes along and will draw away our Audience and our Players.
This is the second time this has happened. Very Annoying and certaintly not a good thing to be announcing it any time under a week prior to the event

I hope everyone has a lot of fun!

Awww yeah, all nighter for me ^_^
3:15am tourney start haha

So many awesome players signed up now, this is like a huge tournament now :D

id love to see these or at least some gsl maps in the Blizzard map pool!!!

100% agreed, the eXe NA open had a lot of promise and publicity and then this happens 2 days before the event. It would have been awesome to see Jinro play in the NA open. Hell, even alive was signed up, but after this I doubt it. It's sad to watch a tournament set up by a smaller clan with a lot of promise be completely overshadowed 2 days beforehand.

Man I rly hope there are some registrations spots left when the EU pros wake up :/
|
They can still extend the player amount if it goes beyong 512.

Mm this is really cool. I remember the ICCUP custom map tournaments when the game was still really new. However that also backfired since the main focus was still trying to figure out what the game really is, not that that ever stops. With a custom map tournament like this what you get is that people will come in with their set ideas on how to play and that might need to be re-evaluated or changed. I'm hoping something like that will be a result. Either way gonna be really fun and most excellent initiative, looking forward to something refreshing.
|
This is awesome, can't wait to watch!
I was wondering if someone could link me to any vods played on Sanctuary and or Cloud kingdom because i am playing a Bo7 with my brother (loser does all washing up on christmas day, so high stakes) ^^ and we put these two in the map pool to spice it up a bit.
It will be PvZ, so those vods would obviously be best, but i would like to just see more of them in general to get a feel of the map as it is finals week here and i can't play atm.
Cheers

Everyone should just support the hell out of TLAF right now. Download and rate their stuff so we can see that we actually care!

Except it's heavily inspired by this map: Dante's Peak SE ^^
+ Show Spoiler +I will make a real remake of the map soon

Counter attacks seem to be a big theme on this map pool...
|
Got a very nice ZvT going yesterday on Ohana, Its a little larger then It looked (to me anyway). Everything flowed very well, and it doesn't feel like any other map I played, would love to see it in tournaments, and would love to play on it more as well.

All of oGs and 'Liquid? No problem, I got this, diamond league REPRESENT
Also, any other diamond/masters willing to practice a bit on these maps? :p

Sorry guys, just grabbed the last spot.
Time to start practising my ASS OFF for two days so I can at least die with some dignity when the tournament comes around.
Will they make it a bracket of 1024 do you think? I know plenty of my buddies would get in on it and I think a lot of euro pros probably arn't awake yet.

You could actually register all week and it just filled up today so I doubt they will extended it since it starts tomorrow.
What I can't believe is that there are only 132 terrans out of 512!!!!! Barely over 25% while toss comes in at a whopping 37%. I'm pretty excited to watch this tomorrow =]

Actually I think earlier was "early registration". Open registration started about eight hours ago and filled up super fast.

Im going to make an incredible run and every team will want me, and then ill told them: Its ok, its just a hobby =D
In all seriousness, this is awesome, I support the idea of one`s post in here, there should be a paypal donation system for this kind of things, I would add 100 bucks without thinking it too much.
|
Wow these Maps look AWESOME!
I really hope they're balanced and that we could see them played at tournaments and maybe even on the ladder!
Just played on Cloud Kingdom... and I gotta say, this map is cool as hell (an ice-hell ofc)! I think matches could turn out extremly badass on it
Definatly gonna play most of my custom games on these instead of blizz maps ^_^
TL should open donations for tournaments like these... I bet they'd get a much better price-pool. And it'll grab even more attention from Blizzard and the tournment-organizers!
|
Cool maps! Can't wait to watch some games on them.
|
The more I look at these maps the more in love with them I am. Can't believe that I get to actually play on one of them! Maybe even two if my first round opponent is comatose!
|
In terms of aesthetics these maps are super awesome.

I don't know how you consider that a backfire, that tournament not only paved the way for the Korean Weekly but was a large part of the reason Testbug made the 2011 MLG Pro Circuit.

same prize money as WCG 3rd place

Just wondering. How many people playing in this are lower than masters?
|
posted in wrong thread ><
|
Yes! Blizzard, please make at least a few of these maps into ladder maps, they are so good!
|
So i'm just wondering... It says there's a $2000 prize pool but only $1000 is going to the winner. Where is the other 1k going? And how will the winning map(s) be chosen?
|
Damn, it's full already, hopefully they can add more people? Since some of the registered players won't show up for sure.
|
There aren't any casters for this in the late rounds are there? I'm assuming not, but I wish there was. =(
|
|
Holy ...!? So many Koreans participating :D
|
I see Nerchio (as random).

sorry, maybe it's my fault but on opening post i couldn't find a link to a stream to watch it... is there any?

Oh wow reading comprehension fail on my part... wasn't expecting check-in to close before noon EST... Well that's disappointing..
edit : and now there are a bunch of unopened slots... even more disappointed dang I feel like an idiot

Is this being streamed anywhere? I would love to watch some games.
|
It looks like there's a huge list of people streaming, but does one actually happen to be an official stream?

I'd like to see some games but doesn't seems like there is something casted...:-(

In past TLopens the first rounds were cast by community members or the players streaming themselves. Only semifinal and final had an official stream. I'd assume this will be the case here as well.
I'm pretty excited to see these maps in action and how all those top-players will do! Go Liquid!

I like the mood the map played now on ESV TV has. It's really, really cool.

Where can I find a list of designated observers / casters?

I'm especially looking forward to Ohana, the layout looks like it will be AWESOME. I can't really discern all the secret ramps from the other terrain in the picture though. The way the expansions are positioned looks like it will produce some interesting 4th and 5th base scenarios.

K, my feedback on the maps I played.
+ Show Spoiler [Ohana] +Really good map to look at and to play at. It's very straight forward and pretty much every strategy is possible with this map; I really like it. The third is a bit hard to defend but destructible rocks create a good defense path.
The natural-to-world ramp is sooo small and sooo easy to defend though, kinda like shakuras. All zerg needs is one creep tumor and he's set. Overall, it's refreshing and it's a style of map very different from our usual 4-player map pool.
I want this map on the ladder.
+ Show Spoiler [Korhal Compound] +I'm not sure what to say about this map. It's ultra easy to wall your natural, and its EXTREMELY open; the map is also small enough to make any kind of rush really scary, and the third isn't exactly the easiest thing to defend; however this map isn't imbalanced at all. I like it, but where the f* do you take a fifth base if you get to that point? :D
Yes, I want this map on the ladder. We are lacking 2player maps anyway
+ Show Spoiler [Haven's Lagoon] +DEAR GOD PLEASE ADD THIS MAP ON THE LADDER.
It's unique. It is awesome. It allows for rush oriented play as well as mass-expand oriented play. There is a small bug on the minerals that makes it look like you can pass zerglings/zealots through them, but you actually can't(TLO had a game where this was showcased).
This map makes up for it's premise: it's incredibly fun to play. Air play is obviously very favored on this map considering the architecture, but this map is just awesome in all ways.
I love it.
+ Show Spoiler [Burning Crater] +I'm not sure about this one. I like the tileset, and the architecture is somewhat interesting, but overall it's just another generic 4spawn map, and honestly I don't like that this map is actually kinda small. The center of the map is also kinda useless.
It's cool to play, but I can see people getting bored of this one on the future.
+ Show Spoiler [Twilight Peaks] +Generic 4spawn map that favors 2base play. I dislike it.
No harm intended to the authors of the maps

wanted to let you know Burning Altar's third will be changed in the next version with a low ground drop pod that can be defended with roaches/queens (distance=reach 3). be assured that this tournament helps us mapmaker a lot.
