What's up with Liquipedia? Volume I
Some stats to kick off
300 content pages at release. Now we have 719. We are approaching 14000 total edits. Our views have reached 420K.
We are getting there. If you haven't checked out Liquipedia yet (shame on you!), it's just under the big "QU" in the horses banner or directly at http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/Main_Page
Status Quo
The Progaming section has finally officially been opened on Liquipedia. What exactly do we want here? Well, pretty much anything and everything you could think about to do with Progaming. Be it a Team history, Player biography, Tournament Results, Revolutionary Series... the list goes on - and it all has a home on Liquipedia where it can be immortalized. Unsure of how to get started? Well you can first check out some great articles that are already in place. The Boxer article and the Bisu article are great examples of Player pages. You could check out the SK T1 page for a good example of a Team page.
We are also now updated the front page of Liquipedia with weekly news. On the front page this week we have the unit size diagram as our weekly picture, and the Zerg strategy guides as our weekly work in progress. We also have our first wave of promotions: Sunhay and Ideas! Both will join the reviewer team for Liquipedia. Sunhay has been doing some incredible work with progaming Players and Teams, as well as drafting concise tables and charts. The front page mockup is just one example of Sunhay's work. Ideas has been a monster when it comes to edits regarding information and players. He relentlessly applies the Style Guide, and has shown promise on the reviewer staff.
We are always looking for new personnel, and every time we see a good edit of yours, we take note of you. Good and steady work is the best method to receive attention, and we'll surely get to you when we need you. However, we will initially limit the amount of promotions, simply so we can help work with candidates one-on-one.
What are we focusing on this week?
We want to become the most up-to-date and concise strategic resource on Starcraft outside of Korea. For that we need your help. It's very easy. Did you see a game on TV? Do you have a favorite Strategy that you'd like to share? Did you find a good post in the Strategy Forum of encyclopedic value? Just take the time to sit down and write it up. If there is good substance in it, Liquipedia will make it great. We promise.
If you are unsure about the correct syntax, either get help on IRC or PM staff (Aesop, cgrinker, GHOSTCLAW, mikeymoo) on here. Our second weekly objective is giving each player some love with a sufficient profile. This should be easy for you guys - seeing as everyone loves to talk about their favorite player in explicit detail. The easiest way for you to help is to simply add in any notable features about your player of choice such as:
- Style
- Achievements
- Rivals
- Great games
All of the above, plus anything else you can think of which is relevant, has a place on the players Liquipedia profile. Just one small note, please only use NeverGG picture for player pictures - those are the only ones we can use due to copyright.
If you are looking for things that should be fixed, or maybe added to, see the list of short pages. We also have various stub templates that mark still unfinished pages and put them into the Stub Category.
Users at Work
Liquipedia is nothing without those highly motivated users that spend hours and days making the world of liquipedia a little better. We have asked two a few simple questions.
+ Show Spoiler [Candidate one] +
LP: What led you to Liquipedia?
Mystlord: Initially, I didn't pay too much attention to Liquipedia. I saw the news post and never gave it much thought. Then, I saw some Liquipedia administrator's post in the Strategy forum entitled "Why don't you people edit Liquipedia" or something to that effect. From there, I realized that a lot of the pages were rather sparse or missing entirely, so I decided to contribute to help the community out.
LP: What is - to you - most fun about Liquipedia?
Mystlord: I think the most fun part about Liquipedia is the opportunity to just edit. I'm not exactly sure what keeps me going while I edit some especially tedious stuff, but I just love to spend time on the wiki and look at what other people are editting and how I can help more. I guess I just like the large element of freedom on Liquipedia as compared to the Strategy forum. The Strategy forum just seemed to be very constricting in its rules and regulations, and Liquipedia gave me the freedom to just do whatever I wanted to do.
LP: What are your wishes/goals for the future of Liquipedia?
Mystlord: I originally was a member of SC2GG, but I started to come to Team Liquid more once the traffic over there had started to die down. I never really realized the lack of cohesion between the Starcraft communities, but I think Liquipedia has potential to be a point where all Starcraft websites can converge. Considering that SC2GG and GosuGamers don't have the resources to pull off something like this, I think that all users from all communities can contribute to Liquipedia and form at least some bond between communities before Starcraft 2 comes out.

stet_tcl: whats up?
LP: Yo! Interview time!
stet_tcl: huh?
LP: What led you to Liquipedia?
*silence*
LP: Take your time.
stet_tcl: umm teamliquid i guess ^^
LP: Okay, imagine someone would read this posted somewhere. Would you answer the same way?
stet_tcl: argh
LP: What led you to Liquipedia?
stet_tcl: I'm a big theory craft junkie and a big pile of info on Starcraft is exactly what I'm attracted to. Note: forgive me if I say complete nonsense, I get stage fright.
LP: haha, you dont have to. You do so well on editing. This is just IRC! Just relax, take your time.
stet_tcl: I'll do my best. gogog
LP: there is no right and wrong. Only you saying what's on your heart. What is most fun about Liquipedia?
stet_tcl: It's not just one person writing a guide, it's collective. I find that very nice
LP: What motivates you to contribute?
stet_tcl: I spend a lot of time playing Starcraft and thinking about Starcraft, so Liquipedia is a chance for me to be creative on a subject I love. But being able to give something back to the community is probably the most important factor since I haven't been able to do so until now.
LP: What are your wishes/goals for the future of Liquipedia?
stet_tcl: hmm. The most important thing is for it to become the biggest and most complete source of information about SC there is. But i think this has already been accomplished. Still, there is a lot to be done...
LP: (done? I dont want to break this moment!)
stet_tcl: ..and hopefully with time subjects analyzed will be more and more in depth on all aspects of the game
stet_tcl: ^major syntax/wording errors?
LP: haha, no. And if, it will be authentic. Okay, you did great, really. You might or might not read or read not your words or others at a place or none in near or far future or past.
stet_tcl: lol haha. kk.
