Old one (The Open Seasons) - Yes New one (The Closed Seasons) - Kinda / not quite I believe the new one is a mix of Open/Closed. 32 entrants from previous seasons battle for 32 spots and any amount of entrants from outside of Code S/A battle for 32 spots, together composing a Ro64. Though I've only seen the format explained once or twice, in Korean on GOMTV so I may very well be wrong. ^^

Oh, and I think it's considered to be Closed because it's only available to people who have been successful in previous GSLs.

At least I hope people can understand the basic idea: Code S plays to win the Code S tournament, or at least avoid going down to Code A Code A plays to try to get into Code S, or at least avoid losing code A. Everyone else plays to try to get into Code A Also reposting this:

They do so via a series of playoff matches. What's so hard to understand? Are TL people really that dumb? Or possibly American (since Americans aren't used to the idea of promotion and relegation, the rest of the world uses such systems in their sports leagues, but the US (and Canada) seem to have a system whereby teams are set forever and while you can create new teams, there is no reward at the lower levels for being successful other than that success).

I listened to DjWheat trying to explain it and I think he definitely didn't get it^^ I'll sit down and read it at some point. I don't recall ever trying to explain it. The only thing we did was discuss the thread from TL which originally came from GOM (before there was any additional information on it). Here's what I understand about it: - There will be a shitload of awesome games for us to watch That's all I NEED to know.

Code S: group stages -> high ranked players play an elimiation format for a big prize pool low ranked play against high Code A players. Winners are in Code S, loosers in Code A. Code A: Play a seperate tourney, the high ranked players can ascent into code S if they win against the low Code S players. Upper half of Code A players stay in Code A, Lower half doesnt, they need to go through the qualifiers. Open Qualifier: Lower spaces of Code A for the top players of this tourney.

Really don't like how its working out with the tiers. would rather have seeding from previous tournaments like osl/msl (though it sorta works like it i guess)

It's easy to understand otherwise. It's also a really good system. Much more like a major league sport with a regular season leading into play-offs and a Super Bowl...

After the first four games were played, the table was like this: 1. oGsMC 2:0 2. oGsNaDa 1:1 3. oGsInCa 1:1 4. sanZenith 0:2 Why didn't they play the last two games? sadZenith winning against Nada and Inca winning against MC should have made the table look like this: 1. oGsInCa 2:1 2. oGsMC 2:1 3. sanZenith 1:2 4. oGsNaDa 1:2 So, we have two pairs of tied players - Inca and MC with 2:1 and sadZenith and Nada with 1:2. When two players finish with the same score, the one who won the direct match between the two goes ahead. In this scenario, this should have put Inca on top because of his direct win vs MC and sadZenith getting third place because he won against Nada. What am I missing?
