Otherwise with "inflation", for me its Nal_rA in his prime because he is the only player in the list who had no one who you could pair up as a "rival". rA's dominance is unique because he won through playing like no one had before, which is why for a period no one could counter it. Every other player during their 'peak' still had a rival that could match them head to toe.

srsly if you went back and read the tourney threads from the old days, the amount of boxer fanboyism was either cute or excessive and obnoxious. sorry guys, but boxer is no good. the blind fanboyism is an impairment, making one unable to appreciate the true shifts in the game, and give new players some bad rap. if you are nostalgic, get nostalgic over phases of the game, like any other mature sports fan. if we do not share your bias, your biased remarks appear ridiculous and sometimes idiotic, rather than cute or sympathetic.

not as "players in their peak using only skills they learned from their time period" ie. everyone on this list has about a month to practice before the tournament (a la Dragon Ball) because of this, I believe boxer would destroy everyone on this list.

also, nada had another rise a few years back when he won the golden mouse. (i personally didn't follow nada during his early years, so i can't really tell if he was truly awesome 2003). btw, voted for boxer. his gameplay was so pimp.

but a very strong case can be made for 04 oov 01 Boxer is a joke. Boxer was amazing, creative, transcended the game, more than a starcraft player, launched the whole movement, innovative, wonderful, walked on water... but he was never dominant like the rest. 02 Nada is probably third best candidate, after 06 Savior and 04 oov. However, he gets a few points knocked off because of the quirkly play factor. 02 Reach... The whole point of Reach as a player and a star is that he's not dominant. He's dramatic. 03 GoRush. nullified by 03 Nada and 03 July 04 Nal_Ra. Also a wonderful player, but one word: Paradoxxx 05 July. Severely underrated. I honestly think that if he were better looking he'd be as popular as Reach. Fall Anytime. Sorry, indiv leagues matter. 07 Bisu. Looks unstoppable, no? Considering that it's more difficult now than ever to be across-the-board dominant, he could make this poll moot if he keeps it up for a little longer.

Then, he comes back and wins the Golden Mouse. So yeah, I have a hard time with not giving NaDa #1. Then again, I haven't been around as much lately. Another factor, when NaDa played all match series were played on that single day, so there wasn't this bullshit about spreading it out for 3 weeks lol. I still remember that insane shit of best of 7 MSL with GoRush. Could we change it to, KT-KTF NaDa? You know, 16-1 NaDa? K THX

IMO, the only candidates that should be discussed are: 06 Savior, 04 Oov, 05 July, 07 Bisu and possibly 02 Nada. What further complicates this discussion is that almost all of the former bonjwas were dethroned by each other. Only possible exception was July, and he lost an OSL final to Oov. 02 Nada : He had incredible force, but I feel his suit, strong mechanics, are being duplicated by too many of today's players. He might do well, but I doubt he can win. 04 Oov: Oov never could beat Savior. In fact, Savior's trademark ZvT style was first demonstrated by his beating Oov at his prime repeatedly. No chance. 05 July: Didn't dominate to that extent as the other bonjwas. Was beaten by Nada in Panasonic, and beat Oov in his first OSL by the slimmest of margins. ZvZ vs Savior is a crapshoot (I don't know enough about that MU really), and even his dominating ZvP would run into Bisu, whose control and timing are eons ahead of the tosses he used to rape. If ForU could beat July on Requiem, Bisu will figure out a way in a bo5. 06 Savior: Now we're talking. Two of the only real candidates imo. At his prime, he an imposing force: play as smooth as water, flawless decision making down to correct scouting direction. Definite win if Oov or July somehow knock out Bisu early. 07 Bisu: SC progaming constantly improves by leap and bounds, and usually the strongest ever is the strongest currently.

Chojja at his prime was one of the scariest zergs alive. He was the only player in the world capable of consistently beating Savior, taking him out in not one but TWO bo series in the same tournament. He made consecutive MSL+OSL finals back-to-back. Reach and Anytime's peaks weren't really dominant at all. rA and July's peaks had their moments but are wildly overrated. Both were far from invincible even at their primes. Oov easily had the best reign of all. Probably no one will ever dominate the way he did again. But Bisu will be the favorite to win the tournament, no doubt.

He won two OSLs, and placed second in two other OSLs. This means that he's had more success in OSL than any other zerg player. He was the first zerg to win an OSL and he still doubles the OSL win count of any other zerg player. July also won the 2004 KT-KTF Premier league (which had an insane list of participants), and the ITV League and he did this all in the span of about a year. It's true that July never dominated; he never appeared to be invincible. This is because his style didn't lend itself to domination. But it should be said that the most invincible-looking player of any era, iloveoov, stopped looking so hot because of July. Am I the only one that remembers how much of a shock it was when the invincible oov lost to July in the semifinals of the Gillette OSL, and how July then proved that it was not a fluke by utterly dominating oov in the ITV League? Despite the fact that he never appeared to be invincible, July's accomplishments during his peak easily rival those of Savior. Chojja belongs in this poll about as much as gorush. Yeah, they were scary as hell during their respective peaks, but their peaks didn't last long, and their accomplishments are put to shame by others included in the poll.

In his own environment, Boxer revolutionized Starcraft and virtually created the term "micro". He's almost like the Michael Vick of Starcraft (without the dog shit lol.) Many observers say his style was just a show, and with all of his crazy moves, wacky micro, and unreasonable build orders, he won vs almost any top player who confronted him

but boxer, boxer's plays were innovative and reached new grounds far beyond everyone. if a boxer at his prime and mindset could learn and catch up, his brilliance will still think of innovative ways to defeat his people with royalty and elegance. but savior... the evil dark guy who wore black with creepy eyes that say everything going on in the game... he who beat the terran gods 1 by 1... boxer... nada... oov... ect.. not to mention the top protoss'.... his reign was ruthless and royal, sheer dominance.... but there was this chart thing i found analyzing people's reigns, and savior and oov were both off the charts, far beyond everyone else. but if you look closely at the chart, oov is 200 points above savior. savior of course gets knocked down by bisu

For example, what if you warped Barry Bonds to Babe Ruth's era? Well he actually would never even step foot on the field because blacks could not play professional baseball at that time. Semantical I know but the logic transitions to the current dilemma between starcraft players. Obviously future generations in a vacuum are going to be stronger, as they are going to expand on old techniques and evolve newer, superior abilities. So in the end, trying to answer this question is circuitous and therefore people will tend to vote for their favorite players.

Still I do not see how this poll is interesting: I would assume that it is commonly assented that the level of play has risen considerably during the last years, so the average level nowadays is higher than before. Thus I do not see how a 2001 Boxer would be able to defeat a 2007 Bisu or 2006 Savior. A 2001 Boxer won with strategies that no opponents could possibly imagine (and thus counter). So It's fairly obvious that neither would Bisu nor Savior (who actually RELY on the predictability of their opponents most of the times) could beat him. Had there been strats that are still undiscovered, which there aren't. But had there been, boxer would do them. And win. (i know there are 8 more pages of comments since that one but I'm bored and I don't wanna read them).
