TSL Weekend Tournament 2
Date: April 12th 2008
First note there have been several changes in the format and rules, they have been listed at the top of their categories.
Sign ups for the tournament will open in about 14 hours at 17:00 CET, now this is not the only step in signing up for the tournament. At roughly 19:30 CET check ins will open. At this point the first 64 players to check in on the website will get the spots in the tournament. The tournament then starts at 20:00 CET, you will be able to find both of the links at the following once both stages are set by me. I will be using the clock on sc.iccup.com at the right not the server time for all 3 times.

Channel on iCCup server: Tournaments
Signups - 17:00 CET - 11:00 EST - 08:00 PST - 00:00 KST (TL Time) Check-in - 19:30 CET - 13:30 EST - 10:30 PST - 02:30 KST (TL Time) Start - 20:00 CET - 14:00 EST - 11:00 PST - 03:00 KST (TL Time)
Now more important than the details of this tournament are how the rules are different than normal tournaments so if anyone asks I'm going to refer them back to this post.
TSL Tournament Rules:
- NEW - After discussion with Hot_Bid LAN Latency is now a requirement, even if you lag a little bit extra high latency with LL on is faster than Low latency on battlenet.
- This tournament is only open to D+ rank (2000 rating or higher) and above
- The rules on Ladder mode have been modified, through the first 5 rounds only you are only required to play Ladder mode if your opponent is 2 ranks or fewer different from you. (Example: You are B+ your opponent is C+ that is 3 ranks you are not required to play ladder mode)
- This tournament is for TSL players ONLY to make up for the fact that normal tournaments don't count for them. I will be checking people against the TSL team roster before the start so don't test this. Checking in when you are not a TSL player will result in a disqualification period. Make sure you are on your TSL name before you check in. Signing up under the wrong name is not a problem as long as you do not check in.
- Pausing is allowable if the opponent agrees but they are allowed to unpause at any time, if you start a game it is your responsibility to finish it. It is too hard for admins to regulate pauses.
- Auto replay is a requirement of TSL. You must have your auto replay on in the case that a iCCup or TSL admin needs to view your game.
- All other tournament rules apply, if you have a question ask the tournament admin not other players.
Format:
- The prize structure has been modified, 1st place will receive 600 points, 2nd place will receive 400 points, 3rd/4th will receive 300 points, 5th-8th will receive 200 points, 9th through 16th will receive 100 points.
- This is a 64 player single elimination tournament consisting of 6 rounds with a different starting map for each round.
- This is a pay in tournament, it costs 50 ladder points to check in to the tournament, and the top 4 players will receive ladder points as prizes beyond the points earned through the tournament.
- Rounds 1-3 are single elimination, Round 4 and 5 are BO3, and the Finals Round 6 are BO5.
- The BO3 and BO5 rounds are loser picks next map using any map in the iccup map pool, use the /maps command to check if a map is in the pool before choosing a map as the next map.
Notices:
- By checking in you are in effect signing a contract saying that you will show up for the tournament. When you check in you are agreeing to have 50 ladder points removed from your account as payment to join the tournament.
- Failure to show for the start of the tournament after checking in will result in a penalty of 200 ladder points beyond the 50 point pay in.
- Reporting a false match result on the website or to the admin will result in a disqualification if necessary and a 200 point penalty.
- Submitting a false replay will result in a 200 point penalty.
Good Luck to all who attend, Rael

Raelcun caught a lot of unnecessary flak last time for the tournament rules and prize award.
However, the tournament was very well run. He spent many hours of his day on it and is extremely helpful in this matter and in other things related to TSL. I hope more people can take a moment to thank him and recognize his contribution in running these--thanks!

ty raelcun There will always be those that plow through kind deeds and demand MORE without thanking those responsible! Just remember that the vast majority DO appreciate your effort(s).

Please please please read this, there have been several changes
edit- just saw those two comments <3 thanks guys

The prize distribution is much more sensible this time around. Its a lot of work for one person to run a 64-man tourney, so thanks for your time and effort!

This time first place is 600, so the winner gets 600.
If next time, perhaps next week, first place is 400, I'd predict, and this is purely speculation, that the winner would get 400.

...interesting analysis.

I think Divinek is referring to the tournament info page at the iccup site where it said winner would get 500 points, which is quite a discrepancy to the actual 1k points.
edit: you can check here, still: http://sc.iccup.com/iccscprofile/290473/

The link you posted links to Strelok's profile but nothing else.
Edit: Maybe the ICCup tournament page had the points wrong?

Yes, the ICCup tournament page had the points wrong, thats what I wrote in the first place. And yes, I linked to Streloks profile since he won and you can see under "tourney and awards" that he did so and received 500 points for it...

The website will Always display the amount of points won for 1st place as 500, most of the time that is wrong and you can't go by those awards to see how much they won. The only way to see how many points they won is to be an admin and see the command log
|
yea the prizes are much better now 1k was too much before, but i still think 500 pts would be perfect but we wont argue much for 100 pts ;p
|
If you add up all the rewards you'll actually total the amount paid in by the players so the prizes are designed like that on purpose it would be hard to do 500 points without making the prize scale wacky
|
1-500 2-350 3/4-250 5/8-150 9/16-50 (get buy in pts back)
