Hold the line?
I mean, the distance to both bases is quite big.. except for air/scalers. Also pretty ideal for banelings

Search to Belong.
Blue Friction.
Blue Rhythm.
Terrephobia.
Mandala.
Judith.

Tarpit, The Pits, Crude Well, Coal March, Derrick
I see two black water regions, this is what I'm thinking.

X-factor (the map looks like an X...original I know).

Corpse Island "There'll be no treasure found here"

two gaping assholes version 1.00
|
Frontline
is it me or does this look very terran biased? the gold minerals without some sort of destructible rocks can be very easy to float expo over early on
|

Hawkeye *you can see a couple of hawk kind of sideviews on the center of the map *
|
Make the middle area have a face on the top left and call it Python!
But for real, I think Insularity would be fitting
|
the two triangular water areas in the opposite corners and the messy terrain makes the entire map look like a giant land bridge (known as an isthmus) that's falling apart, thus i'd call it:
Breaking Isthmus Broken Isthmus Isthmus Corrosion
you could make the triangles bigger and more messy to give it more of a land bridge look, as well as add more medium-height cliffs in the top left and bottom right corners to give the land bridge a more uniformly decaying look
just mah 2 cents

True Sight. Because both watchtowers can see each other.
|
What about "Double Vision"? Sounds nice, and relates to one watch tower being able to spot the other
|
Yin and Yang
Almost looks like the yin/yang symbol. Although it's slightly more squarish than circley.
|
|
Twin Frenzy
Twin is an allusion to the Two Towers (No, not the World Trade Center); of course, it also refers to the twin pathes surrounding the main one. Frenzy is just a general term to describe a scurry for resources, as this map is designed to be.

How am I supposed to pick? I'll have to put a poll in the OP with the best names I've seen so far :D

you gotta choose a real badass korean style name in english that makes absolutely no sense!
I'm fucking uncreative though
|
Slam Bucket Thunderstrike would clearly be the best name.
|
Lonely Sandbar Ruins of Atlantis Waterlogged
|
How about something... "simple"?
Like "Ancestor".
|
It's gotta be something related to turtling, so I voted hold the line. This map seems like it would really reward defensive play.
|
i just saw "300" again a few days ago. this map reminds of the feeling i get when seeing the set where the action takes place. so..how about
the "hot gates" ?
|
"Hold the Line" looks like it's going to win :D
|
The first thing I saw when I looked at that map was
"Beachfront Property"
Because of the sandy looking tileset and the watery background. I like it.
|
|
I think Impervious suits the map most.
|
|
Long Road Home Obsfucation Snakepath Oblivion Long Shot

The naming choice is simple.
With such a hard to defend third expansion, the name is obvious.
"Fuck You, Zerg"
|
While that golden mineral only looks interesting, the lack of an easy 3rd base with gas makes this map hell for zerg. And uh, none of your names sound decent imo. Just try to think of something original. I don't have any suggestions.

Nice map design, as a BW Protoss player who abused 12 nexus constantly, (and sometimes 14 nex on SC2), I really like this map. Haha jokes, I just love macro maps.
How about "Prodigy" as the map name?
|
I think you should name it "Yoshi's Cookie"
|
On May 18 2010 08:53 Khol wrote: two gaping assholes version 1.00 Why hasnt this one been taken into consideration? Its fairly accurate.
The map looks beautiful and has good thoughts behind it etc, but i feel like there needs to be more maps with more open areas etc. To me this map seems to be favouring turtle play or air dominance play mb alittle too much.

tanks on the around the middle crossing = ownz

Needs more Shakespeare play names IMO. edit:

"Impervious" is winning.
tbh I don't see the impervious-ness. In fact it kinda has a shaky/uncertain feel to it. Impervious to attacks? iunno. It's a cool sounding word I guess =p
Voted "Twin Frenzy"

|
I've decided to call it Impervious :>

EDIT: You can now find the map on SC2Mapster.com (or see the OP)

I saw that.
It looks like it'll be a crazy macro-map. The gold expansion looks like the best candidate for a 3rd..... At least, I know I'd go for it.....

EDIT: Version 1.1 is up.

I really enjoyed how you showed pictures of the mapping progress. Other than that this looks like a sweet map ill have to play it when the game comes back up

Hi everyone, new poster long time follower of TL. With the beta being down I've created a custom melee map and was looking for naming suggestions and feedback.
features of this map include:
- un-choked mains - close naturals with spread out minerals - hi-yeilds between each base - high ground with large ramps overlooking the expansions - empty middle with a lot of little islands, nydus-able in the middle. - watch towers requiring a drop-ship which overlook the high ground and hi-yeild - corridor around the outer parameter which is out of watchtower sight and highground siege range
Names for consideration:
D-pad, Unnatural, ... [yours here]
|
Due to the large black areas in the water, I vote "Gulf of Mexico"
|
KungFuJunkie, your map reminds me of like a tournement, or a platform game.
Feeding Frenzy Gladiator Gulf
what were the dimensions of the map
And ProdiG what were the dimensions of your map
|
Thanks for the reply crook. The map dims are 144 x 144.
I tried to do something different from all the other maps out there.
Hopefully this map isn't to Zerg friendly. I can't wait to play on it.
