4 euro players but only 2 slots per 2 qualis ?
what ?
so this is two of the 5 countries they are going to host the tournaments in, and are the other 3 the continent championships, or is that not true?

This is kinda strange. I had the same thoughts^^ Maybe the best two europeans of the gamescom Global Challenge?

There will be five global challenges:
- Europe 1 (gamescom, Cologne, Germany) - Asia (Guangzhou, China) - North-America (tba) - Europe 2 (tba, i think it will be Kiew, Ukraine) - South- America (tbh)
And after this there will be a World Final in Hannover, Germany.

I believe xiaOt has retired to become a coach, which, believe me, is pretty damn surprising since most people considered him one of the, if not THE strongest Chinese player.
Also, is this effectively the LR thread for the European qualifier that is on right now? I couldn't find anything else :X

Does anyone know where/if I can find brackets for this?

afaik, yes

Thanks

Korean terran are much more aggressive, I think that's what makes the biggest difference.
The stream for this qualifier is awesome, I like both Rotterdam and Mr. Bitter <3 Also I love how they keep switching between the games
I wish more tournaments would switch over between games more. There was so many games in MLG that we never got to see ;;
Why does it say that both EU qualifiers only give one spot but EU got 4 spots at the tournament?

Mr Bitter clearly hasn't seen much of Morrow ZvP

Only 2 quals from the Americas? I think we deserve 3 at least. We're behind EU, sure, but not that far behind.

I guess ESL has to cater to its userbase which is dominantly european.I dont think its meant to be a representation of skill or there likely wouldnt be any EU or US qualifiers at all haha. Thank God that isnt their system though

Look at the international ranking list, 2 American based players against 15 Europeans based players in the top 40. Korea on the other hand is severely underrepresented.

Added the first two participants from Europe

I think it was just an ESL fail. They first announced that there will be 1 players per qualifier, but now they changed, so that we can be happy over MaNa and DIMAGA.
Somebody more information on the non-european, non-american qualifiers? Did not find any yet :/
As well updated information about the American Qualfiers
Added the two european players who won a slot for IEM Guangzhou today.
Added the four players who qualified for the American Qualfier as well.
Updated the new for participants of the American Final Qualifier
god fragster is so annoying with putting their logo and links everywhere
Liking the look of the EU qualifiers, mana and dimaga really do seem to be in good form lately
Added the SEA-Qualification details
Updated the "not-attending" of MaNa :/
Oh no, that´s bad news with Mana With Hasu and Xlord there´s a German representative, so not that bad for me. But I don´t think they have a good chance in Guangzhou. Let us know if there are infos who is getting the slot, and thanks for the coverage.
Mana T_T I was so looking forward to him pwning noobs. Now he'll just pwn Tarson

update: loner and lovecd forfeit their spot YET AGAIN (yes I'm so frustrated and angry), due to G-League grand finals been held around the same week.

Any word on their replacements? or is it simply the people they beat in those final qualifer games?
Tyloo.Infi forfeits as well leaving the spot to his teammate Tyloo.Jim.
So I think the final lineup for China will be: iG.XiGua, iG.Way, VA.YHY and Tyloo.Jim.
thats sad, super sad actually, only bright thing is that "replacements" are actually beastly players also. Quite strong foreign representation nonetheless
Happy that Demuslim qualified, sad that he took a spot from a real American

The groups on esl-world are still the same and the 2 newssites I check frequently (readmore.de and fragster.de) have it now both as news but both link to teamliquid as source. Imo that´s the wrong way news should be spread, I really searched for anything but couldn´t found infos.

Should be yea, there's no other IEM event in China afaik.
Good thing so many zergs got in from the other areas. When, inevitably, 2 Korean terrans qualify, it won't be terrancraft for this tournament.

It's cool to hear some insider news here in the forum, but they should not be published as fixed news.

group B oh shit...
DIMAGA, xigua, JYP, Demuslim
All of these seem like great players, and I want to se how PiG does in the main stage. I hope everyone won't rip on him for being an Unknown SEA player. Do note he crushed mOOngLaDe in the qualifiers, making it seem EZPZ as DRG says
PiG hit PuMa's group.
It's going to be a while before I stop laughing.
