The time has come for our third IGN Pro League Team Arena! This is a (follow closely) weekly winner's format team king of the hill showmatch series. For better clarification, check out our IPL Team Arena General Discussion thread!
When: Tuesday, Aug 16 12:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) (we will also have a European re-broadcast as usual at Tuesday, Aug 16 4:30pm GMT (GMT+00:00))
Prizes
The first team to defeat everyone on the opposing team's roster (5 wins, or a best of 9) will earn $500 for their team to split however they want. To make things even more interesting, we are including a $100 bounty for each victory that a team earns, for new challengers to try and claim. For example, if a team wins 3 weeks in a row, they will have earned themselves $1,500 total, and have $300 worth of bounty on them. If a new team defeats them, they will earn the $500 for winning the week, as well as claim the $300 bounty.
ReIGN is the first team to win the IPL Team Arena (twice!), and they have earned themselves $1000 and a $200 bounty on their heads. Check Six is looking stronger than ever and are anxious for their chance to prove themselves this week. Here are their full rosters:

checksix is such a strong team. That said, I think that Reign is probably the strongest in NA right now. Should be a close match.

How far can Reign go, such a good team. FXO met some scheduling issues unfortunately, and we can't wait to have them on in the future!

Glad to have our nice balanced lineup and to see it in action.

Who is leading for each team?
|
I only know ThisisJimmy from checksix... lol anyway Reign has Spades, who got alot better from some korean training, and Kiwikaki + Slush.. both top MLG players before the koreans.
|
Do you plan on also inviting some EU teams to play some time or is it NA teams only for now?
I don't want to be nagging, just curious.
|
I hope Artist will make an appearance.

I don't want to be nagging, just curious. We'll be inviting European and Korean teams, yes. =D

thisisjimmy is probably one of the weaker players in checksix. at best i'd put him in mid tier of checksix.

Reign added gix and Artist. Check is going to get rolled. :o

for some reason i thought this took place on tuesdays

It does.

Shadow has talent to beat anyone on Reign. Can't wait to see him play but I think Reign's got this such a sick team.
|
Reign's gonna take this easy Check Six might have numbers, but RGN's got the killers
|
Check six is such an underrated team, but I will still be cheering for Reign.
|
To those asking, we have moved from Tuesdays to Mondays to avoid some internal time conflicts.
|
well glad i checked up on it today then would of been a shame to miss it.
gogogogogo reign clean sweep.
or not
honestly i don;t know very many people from checksix thisisjimmy, neans, and arcanne are really the only ones i have heard of
and all three of them seemed pretty good though i never saw their actual games i seem to remember them knocking off some hard opponents in mlg before.

Definitely, shadow is very good, especially for a relatively unknown player.
|
I sure hope reign just crushes teams for weeks and weeks in a row, would be a really good break-out performance for the team and after failing to qualify for EGMCS.
|
Perfect with the boss mode cannon rush.
|
cats pajamas new facial hair is amazing.
|
yeah that cannon rush was pretty sweet I am becoming a bigger fan of perfect.
i am actually rather glad it wasn't a sweep a great run perfect you did great. i am just stoked to see atleast one of the new additions to the roster hope i get to see Gix soon too.

much better than what it was! I prefer someone in his position to be more professional. THe more professional casters and players are, the more potential we have to grow eSports.. This is a step in the right direction!

Arist is so gooooood, the skill difference between him and the last opponent was huge
|
VT PRIDE; REIGN FIGHTING!
Reign is way too good for these guys, GET EM BOYS!

Maybe casters. But players...Have you ever seen Troy Polamalu's hair? Or Lebron James' beard?

Good god Reign is a fucking monster team.

Wow. Very impressed by Mystic.

I know! If he cleaned up his build a bit he could really stand out. Though I do think the victory was more due to Artist's mistakes (and his exploitation of Artist's mistakes, of course).

Well, I know there are a lot of 'gangster' players in the NBA. I used to love it, but the more I matured the less I like it, because I can't stand that attitude. As for the NFL, you can say the same somewhat, there's less 'gangster' attitude.
I think that eSports has more to lose because it's less established, and when someone stumbles upon the IPL and sees Cat's Pajamas with a giant beard and unkempt, it can easily put someone off, because it's just a unique position. It's not like you'll flip on the TV and be able to catch multiple channels with SC2 on.

To be fair they haven't had to go up against the two real giants of most foreign team leagues, FnaticMSI and Dignitas, and I'd have to figure Liquid as favoured vs Reign as well, but taking down EG and Complexity, who are competition mainstays themselves is very impressive.
Although TBH, Checksix isn't really on the level of the other teams thus far. Players like Mystic, Maker and Mkengyn (spelling?) are good, but they aren't establish pros like Kiwi or Slush.
|
5-2 Reign. Respectable results. Thanks IPL for these cool team games!

Thanks for watching, everyone! Right now we're going to re-air previous iterations of the IPL Team Arena!
|
You should change the OP format to link to earlier weeks. At least to the point where the current team started their run (yeah I know for now that's the beginning - nothing wrong with that!)
|
Keep upping that bounty, we're coming for you ;D
|
Of course CS lost, they didn't send out ThisIsJimmy!
|
this thing is kinda silly
they always say that they are going to invite THE BEST TEAMS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD but they are just inviting some mediocre teams from NA which dont stand a chance vs internationally good players such as kiwi or slush. those 2 (and maybe spades as a sniper) wouldve won every match on their own im afraid that if they dont invite a good team in the near future noone will be interested anymore

Please don't be an idiot.
Prior to x6, RGN went against EG and CoL. You can hardly say that they are "mediocre" teams.

As we said before, FXO was initially committed but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. Thus, CheckSix kindly stepped in to play at the absolute last second, and we really appreciate their effort! :D

When can we watch a VOD of Check Six v RGN and where at?
