The time has come for our fifth IGN Pro League Team Arena! This is a (follow closely) weekly winner's format team king of the hill showmatch series. For better clarification, check out our IPL Team Arena General Discussion thread!
When: Tuesday, Aug 30 12:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) (we will also have a European re-broadcast as usual at Tuesday, Aug 30 4:30pm GMT (GMT+00:00))
Prizes
The first team to defeat everyone on the opposing team's roster (5 wins, or a best of 9) will earn $500 for their team to split however they want. To make things even more interesting, we are including a $100 bounty for each victory that a team earns, for new challengers to try and claim. For example, if a team wins 3 weeks in a row, they will have earned themselves $1,500 total, and have $300 worth of bounty on them. If a new team defeats them, they will earn the $500 for winning the week, as well as claim the $300 bounty.
ReIGN is the first team to win the IPL Team Arena (four times now!), and they have earned themselves $2000 and a $400 bounty on their heads. FnaticMSI has always been a formidable clan war team and they are anxious for their chance to prove themselves this week. Here are their full rosters:

With Fnatic losing Sen and Fenix, they've lost 2 of their best players. Sure, the players on the team are still pretty good, but with how Reign has been doing, they're going to have to fight really hard to win.
Either way, I hope and expect this to be an exciting match!
|
Fnatic is really being whittled down in number.
Reign should take this relatively easily, I think.
|
Fnatic not looking as scary as I imagined. Go Reign!
|
reIGN should take this easy. They can just have artist all kill again XD

Despite losing good players, I think Fnatic is the team (with the potential exception of EG) that has so far had the most potential to take down reIGN.
|
|
All Reign needs to do is take down Rain...
|
Are these games from replays or will they be live? just curious ;D

I'm pretty sure they are live.
|
Going live in just a few minutes! Hope to see you there. :D

Casted live, from replays IIRC
|
I like Reign but I sorta dislike spades a ton. So go fnatic!
|
Interesting to see if Fnatic can take this one. Rain and KawaiiRice are very good, and JF did well at MLG Raleigh so maybe he's going to be more active... but NightEnd and TT1 have both fallen off recently and I don't think I'd favour any Fnatic player over KiWiKaKi.
GL HF :D
|
I think these teams are pretty evenly matched.
Rain vs. Kiwi ace match please!
|
Gogo Fnatic!! :DDD Get over Kiwikaki and maybe Slush and they got this
|
Has everyone already forgotten how Artist went into beast mode last week?
|
Reign needs to win this so that TL can collect the full bounty next round. xD
|
you want a toe? i can get you a toe, believe me
|
Who played in the first game for reign? missed it
|
|
Sorry everyone, I won't be able to live update the results due to flying home from Raleigh all evening. If someone would be so kind as to help me out by posting the spoiler-tagged results as each game finishes, that'd be cool. Enjoy the games!

Did spades not get concussive?

Sheeeesh! Such a close game. Shows how delicate a matchup PvT can be.

|
|
wow very well played by artist! down on supply on 3 base vs a 4+ base fully maxed protoss deathball great micro and engagement choices to get back into the game
|
JF vs Artist, I wish JF was focusing only on SC2.
|
JF is too disappointed by the lack of Reavers in this game to play fulltime.
|
|
Is this casted live from replays? Or recorded from replays? I can never remember

Live casted from replays.

fulll results so far in detail/??

Artist is absolutely owning this team league
|
Ouch.
Reign doesn't even need to send their biggest guns yet and they're still winning so many games.
But then again, Fnatic lost a lot of their good players (Fenix and Sen), so they really lack that killer punch they used to have now.

Well, we have no clue about Artist's ability, but he might be one of Reign's 'big guns' given his current performances in IPL Team Arena. If he can all-kill in two consecutive weeks, he will definitely make a statement.

artist is mining on the far geyser? =( one would think he'd know better
|
artist is beasting it up once again! this guy is impressing me for sure.
|
artist why you sacrifice the only advantage you have D:
|
lol, when NightEND took 2 games I thought "wow does Fnatic have a chance?" I think they did, but ReIGN is just going to sweep this pretty easily like I originally predicted.
+ Show Spoiler +But Artist just gave away a free win vs Rain~ Exciting.
Edit: added spoiler

does reign have kiwikaki?

Yes, it's quite close now with Rain out, I can't think of anyone who can take him at this point with artist out, although his tvp is sketchy

But anyways, the point is they definitely still have people that can compete with Rain.

Rain is just going for a 1-1-1 against Perfect?
Yeah, the casters took a little while to identify it but CatsPajamas caught the build order eventually.

Well, I do think that tvp is his weakest MU, but don't forget at MLG
+ Show Spoiler + He took NaNi pretty convincingly and almost had HuK beat too

Come on IGN, you guys have been slacking on keeping your threads updated before as well.
The EG Master's Cup is also super fucking guilty of this.
Update your bloody threads with results as they happen, if it's a live cast, just have one of the casters tab into the thread as games end and update the results. It's not that hard.

That looks super hard to hold on that map, looks to be a pretty tight choke at the natural

Yeah his robo bay was way late to have a colo out by the time of the attack, let alone range...

lol I think Perfect was asked to give this game away. Oh but wait, he BM's before leaving, even though he killed himself and played really bad. terrible -.-

RGNPerfect: Patch
>< Don't BM in a clan war where you're representing your organization, you got outplayed, regardless of the vessel he used to win.

Perfect built 3 obs rather than immortals as well as a robo support bay, but didn't build a collosus out of it
|
Man Artist is really good. I don't think Rain will be able to handle Kiwi's onslaught of superb PvT. Should be an awesome ace match.
On a sidenote, It's nice these haven't been as one-sided as the Reign roflstomps over everyone else
|
That was a 1-1-1 without a raven. Even if the number if stalkers was low. The true unholdable 1-1-1 includes a raven.
|

i can't tell you how to hold it better but i saw things perfect could've done better. he made like 2-3 obs and i don't think the right move was to try and contain rain.
it's been held before you're acting like it's impossible to.

+ Show Spoiler + In my opinion his PvT that he showed in Raleigh was very 2 base allin-y and was picked apart by anyone who scouted the colossus and built enough vikings i.e Puma game 2/3

The one everyone is complaining about is the 8:50ish with 2-3 banshees and tanks, no raven, raven delays seige tech and hits closer to 10 minutes, but all the permutations just adds to the uncertainty of what you're facing.
|
I don't know anymore, it's one of those builds that is just super super strong.
Just about every Protoss has complained about it to some extent, and while that tends to happen, in this case a lot of pro Terrans are calling it imbalanced as well. Off the top of my head, DeMuslim, MVP and Puma have cited it as somewhat unfair.

I havent seen a protoss hold the 1 1 1 in a televised match when it is executed well in a very long time. You made it sound like perfect is the only one who doesnt know how to hold the 1 1 1 and its held often.

It was a joke, tentatively it's TL.

I think Blizzard has done a pretty good job with patching so far, they usually leave things alone unless something becomes retardedly powerful which is a good way to handle things.
|
Rain taking it to the macro game.
A MISTAKE ON HIS HANDS, FOR KIWIKAKI SHALL DOMINATE.

socke vs select at iem i think, in fact mc held 1-1-1 the first time and fell to a second attempt by puma but that's a different story. i just don't think perfect realized it fast enough and could've made adjustments instead of bming him
ghost timing attack kiwi is done
guess liquid vs fnatic is going to be good
|
ghost timing from Rain is a very nasty counter to any +armor timing that relies heavily on sentries
|
omfg no scout and 1 emp nails every sentry...look's like Reign's reign is over...
|
|
|
|
That was a nice push from Rain. You have to give it to him, he really knows how to play on one or twi bases.

To be fair, select delayed his seige to get cloak, so he did the one that hits at 10 minutes rather than 8, select was just rolling the dice and hoping he wasn't going for a robo build, collossus are generally regarded as not the way to hold it.

Turned on the stream, immediately saw a giant Walter Sobchak head. CatsPajamas <3

Basically, its gonna come down to how many people Rain can kill... He's really the only capable person on the team IMO... If he can get a 3 kill, I can see Fnatic taking this down... Anything else?? I'm severely doubting it...
EDIT: And it turns out my prediction is correct LOL... WP rain, WP.... Nightend did better than I expected of him, I thought TT1 and kawaii would be the other players POSSIBLY capable of kills... I'll keep a closer eye on him from now on!
|
(P) > (Z) 1 (P) > (T) 1 (T) > (P) 5 and 2 TvT.
Crazy. Anyways, nice work by NightEnD getting his team off to a strong start.
|
wow those guys didnt even notice it was kawaiirice who dropped the mules. not all koreans drop mules when they win like puma.

edit: well I enjoyed it.

i found it fishy in the game artist vs kr where artist had a full drop but back off out of no where?? did he scan? or did i miss something.

why didnt they have a good team except eg yet?
glad were finally gonna have the pleasure of seeing team liquid killing fnatic and then hopefully having a good fight the week after that against mouz or empire or dignitas or something

How are RGN not a good team lol?
Artist is a boss, for a minute I thought he was going to double up his all kill heroics from last time out but no such luck and Rain mopped up for Fnatic heh.
Looking forward to some liquid action next week.
