Am I missing something? >.> Yeah I'm curious about the reasoning as well, I already tried converting the numbers into letters of the alphabet and came up with DHECD which I can't make any sense off. Course I'm not that good at these kinda things so would love to see reasoning other then hope cause Huk would be a good addition to an SCI in the future. EDIT: OH I see now, using a phone number pad, very clever. Could be. On to the postmortem in general, I think you are being to hard on yourself as well TB. + Show Spoiler + Some of the matches no one expected a 3-0, Socke and Dimaga, TLO and Destiny. Neither of those I thought would be 3-0. I did think TLO would take out Destiny, but after the first match I thought that was going to be a full 5 games. Once Socke did 3-0 Dimaga though I figured who ever he was facing in the next round would get 3-0 just because he was on fire. TLO losing to White-Ra in the Bronze match 3-0 was surprising as well, but then White-Ra has been really hot of late as well, his MLG run and the IPL Season 2 and TLO kept using pretty much the same build that just wasn't working. Yah put on a great show and even though watching it from the US even on the east coast was a pain, I am not a morning person if it's before 11am it's to early, I still made the effort because I enjoy the quality of the SCI's and really look forward to the next. And hell the early time allowed me to watch everything before I had to go into work. So that was nice I was really worried about missing the finals having to go in a teach my class Sunday afternoon.

I think it was very well organised and personally I didnt mind the brackets. It didnt work out for epic encounters on day one but the fans got to see how some of their favourites fair against tough opposition and yes in some cases they couldnt keep up with the elite Pro's like Socke and White-Ra but it just shows us how tough it is at that very highest levels. You and your wife are doing a tremendous job promoting eSports and I thank you.

Thanks so much for the great tourney. Of course there are always some issues, technical problems, delays or whatever but I think the main thing here is how you handle that. And you guys do this quite well. I loved the improvisation for casting games from WCG Ukraine with the participants who got delayed. Nice initiative! What I also like about this tourney is the fact, that also players will be invited which either did not have great showings recently or are somewhat underrated/unknown. I actually like that and would see it continuing for future events with at least one dark horse. Some points I was a bit sad about: only two zerg matches, both dropped out in the first round. *sadface* To make this up you should consider inviting 3 zergs for SCI4. Of course it will never be balanced out between the three races like math tells me. Also I was a bit frustrated about the low servers/unavailable cynicalbrit.com website. Whenever I tried to donate something I was unable to even access the site. On one side that's a nice issue to have as it shows that a lot of people either trying to get more informations on the tourney or trying to donate to the tourney or the players. On the other side it prevents you from receiving more donations for future tourneys and the players. Btw I found the player tipjar system a great idea!!! Simply awesome for the players to have a nice amount with some fan love messages. Also let me tell you that from all the stuff you have to deal with, organize or manage I think the brackets is probably the most difficult. The problem with this is that its unpredictable how the matches will be going even if you try to "balance" it as good as possible. I have to agree that from the games point of view SCI2 was a blast. It was one of the tourneys I've enjoyed most so far. On the other side I think you won't be able to satisfy everybody with the brackets. There are always people complaining. You shouldn't blame yourself for that. I also have to agree that there should be a more professional way to show the virtual stadium but everything needs to start somehow, right? btw I love the idea of the virtual stadium: The viewership is basically able to interact somehow and show their love and passion for the tourney. A small suggestion to further improve the event and to avoid that always the same questions will be spammed every 5 seconds: Below the actual stram on Justin.tv is this informations page where you can find the subscriber FAQ. I would highly recommend to put a big information patch on the top of that with all links and informations included like brackets, link to cynicalbrit website, link to tipjars, link to facebook, link to the playlist, link to brackets...). I know most of those informations can be found on the website - but for half of the tourney the website was not even accessible because of the heavy load. Just an idea. Thanks TB, Apollo, your wife, the players and everybody else involved for bringing us this wonderful tourney every month. I really appreciate the hard work and would subcribe if this would work with Paypal. :/ TB is definately not killing esports. Thank you for your amazing work! - obsKura PS: Thank you Colin Smith. I swear I've read this name before in the SC2 scene besides SCI... Colin, who are you?

I also had a similar Ground Loop problem sending audio from a laptop to a mixer a few years back. A ground loop isolator commonly used in car audio solved it for me. I picked one up from Maplin - link below: http://www.maplin.co.uk/ground-loop-isolator-33172 Keep up the good work.

Another thing that may have affected Day 2's viewership was that at least in the USA, not only did it start early AM, but also there will have been some who not only might not have awoken themselves that early, but also had Church services to attend. This isn't to say that those who hold certain religious views should be treated with special consideration over those who hold other religious views, or hold no religious view at all, but it could have impacted viewer numbers -- and to the extent that it does not impact others, I don't see any harm taking it into account if you can. I really don't know if there is anything that you could (or should) have done regarding this, but wanted to mention it. On another note, don't beat yourself up over the bracket thing -- I don't think you've done any harm to SCI4 and want to thank you for an awesome tournament experience! Technically SCI3 was noticably improved and shows well against the larger organisations who have at times not lived up to the hype, SCI however seems technically at least to surpass the hype which is what every tournament should be aiming for. Factors outside your control Xsplit and Jtv need to improve and hopefully will, especially Jtv as I assume their revenue is derived from the quality and consistancy of streaming quality keeping us watching and therefore ad revenue coming in (Personally I dont think Jtv has kept up with the pace of the streaming explosion and need to continue to invest faster in infrastucture etc to do so). Finally, TB dont beat yourself up, as I said before we wanted TLO v Destiny as much as you and you gave us that, so on behalf of everyone I say thanks and dont change the mentality of thinking 'outside the box' nor giving us what we want, without that we would never have gotten the burgeoning Socke v DDE rivalry, or indeed the chance to say "Nerchio, yeah I knew about him b4 he started taken Idra apart on a regular basis". Remember nothing is perfect, but as long as u keep innovating and trying the community will support you and I will be eagerly awaiting SCI4 "The Smith, Colin Invitational" and all the others to come.

I don't mind really, you even went through the trouble of spontaneously jumping in the WCG-matches in order to limit the down-time. Delays only seem to annoy me, if I know that there are several matches played at the moment, which just don't get casted. Remember MLG Dallas, where the casters occasionally had to entertain the audience by reading the TL-Twitter to them, instead of actually presenting the current games? Whether it happened due to scheduling issues or technical problems, something like that always leaves a bad after taste. As long as it's only a slight hold-up because of someone's internet lagging out or a messed up keybindings, it's fine by me. As for some of the rather one-sided match-ups and 3:0s: I'm not so sure, that it could have been prevented just by shuffling the seeding around. The most sensible thing to prevent steamrolls would be to seed only players of roughly equal (perceived) skill level/status. If you would want to aim for the most exciting matches with the minimal amount of 3:0-results, you could invite 16 players, let them (non-publically) compete in a GSL'esque format for the seeds in the RO8 and take it from there. But this approach clashes horribly with your concept of a 'ShoutCraft Invitational' (and a community-driven one at that). A pure invitational with only eight players, some of which on different continents/timezones, some at home, others at a LAN (the broadest definition of SC2-'LAN' obviously) can't possibly be expected to offer the same kind of 'upset-immunity' as a tournament whose players battled through rounds of qualifiers weeding out all those being out of practice, having a bad day or not playing at their best. As stated earlier, I don't suppose that a random determination of the seeding would have guaranteed much of a difference. But if you're actually feeling responsible for some of the results it might perhaps be for the best to throw the SCI4-invitees' names in a bowl next time and let the luck of the draw decide the initial match ups. Personally, I enjoyed the tournament as a whole. A few of the results were unexpected and we saw some very entertaining matches with unusual builds/situations (Strelok's/WhiteRa's near-stalemate for example). There was some stream-lag mentioned earlier, apparently on JTVs end. It might be worthwhile to look for regional patterns among those who complained about it, because some (myself included) didn't have a single lag/disconnect for the whole tournament, even when you mentioned the mass-disconnect and the sudden drop in viewer-numbers. I would imagine, that JTV was already aware, if bottle-necks in their CDNs were especially pronounced in some regions. But it might help them nevertheless, if you were to point out to them, that a high percentage of the complaints about stream-lag had been from people from <insert_random_country>. Anyway, thank you very much for the tournament and all the work that was put into it by everyone involved! I'm looking forward to the next one!

Some of you noticed that I even expressed frustration with TLO on Day 2 over a couple of decisions. I feel terrible for doing that, I hate criticising players decisions and the chat definitely took issue with me doing that. It's not my place, I'm not the analyst. I am usually just the "happy to be there" guy but it was hard to maintain my enthusiasm in the face of so many 3-0s, with some of them not being close either. "Happy to be there" TB is my favourite commentator so I was dissapointed when he left in the TLO vs Socke games. When all them tricky/stressful decisions have been made before the tournament I think there's no use worrying about the games themselves since you can't influence that on the tournament day so just relax and enjoy it. Then after it's over you can concern yourself with any pros/cons/improvements etc which you summed up great in your post. It really is a super tournament. Thanks. Also thankyou donors, I see Jelle you post, thankyou.

You only need a passive DI, btw. Active DIs have preamps in them which you don't need for a PC setup.

I think though the above mentioned factors did contribute to the lower views in my mind the main issue is that the SCIs and in particular the SCI III are absurdly underhyped for what they are (outstanding in every possible way be it the huge prize pool, the fact that it's entirely funded by the community, the highly entertainig casters, the exceptional players or last but by no means least the absolute dedication of TB and his team which results in unparalleled professionalism.) I guess what I'm trying to say is you need better PR for your invitationals Sir Biscuit; I don't know, you could just use your contacts in the community, ask Day[9] and Husky if they would put out videos to promote the tourneys, maybe you could send Day[9] a shirt with all the necessary information printed on it, which then he could wear during his dailies or something like that Anyway, great tournament as always (thank you for that) and keep up the good work!
