The time has come for our fifth IGN Pro League Fight Club! This is a weekly king of the hill showmatch series. Basically, there will be a 1 vs. 1 best of 9 showmatch each and every week, where the winner will earn a $500 prize and a $100 bounty on their head. For example, if a player wins three weeks in a row they will have earned $1,500 and a $300 bounty. If a NEW challenger defeats him, they will earn $500 for the showmatch, take the $300 bounty home, and have a new $100 bounty placed on their head for each week that they win. (Similar to IPL Team Arena, but without the teams!)
When: Sunday, Dec 18 1:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) (we will also have a European re-broadcast as usual at Sunday, Dec 18 5:30pm GMT (GMT+00:00))
The competitors of IPL Fight Club 5 are two titans of Terran terror. SlayerS`GanZi was the one to dethrone our first champion, Liquid`Sheth, and will now be facing the player that some folks consider to be the best player in all of Europe: Empire.Kas! Who will have the superior playstyle, build orders, and decision making in this best of 9 series?!

good matchup here... good luck Kas!
|
oh yay! this should be a good match but GanZi's tvt is pretty fucking good =/
Kas fighting! hope for as good a series as GanZi Sheth
|
I don't see Ganzi losing a TvT to a foreigner, even though it is Kas. I predict 5-1
|
Wow, this one should be good, I think Ganzi wins, but Kas should be able to put up a good fight.
|
Too many good Slayers Terrans to practice with, and it is a best of 9, so upsets are unlikely, Ganzi heavy favorite here. I can just imagine Idra watching the whole match over Ganzi's shoulder in the Slayers house, grinning malevolently and petting a cat.
|
Ganzi's TvT isn't exceptional. It'll be closer than you think.

This will be a really good match. Kas probably has close to if not the best foreign TvT. Ganzi is a TvT monster as well.
|

Well it's not that bad. He beat polt and ensnare in GSL November and he beat supernova in a Bo5 back in GSL october.
|
I think this should be a very good set of games and I do hope it turns into that ><.
|
tvt
|
This is going to hurt, Kas
|
|
Well if Kas isn't nervous this can be close, if he is nervous this will be rape.
Kas is the best foreigner terran imo, a bit better than Thorzain mechanically even. But his nerves sometimes...
|
YES! Thank you IPL, finally some love for Empire! And deservedly so, Kas is maybe the best foreign Terran.
I always wanted to see him play some games against Korean terrans instead of just smashing foreigners in team leagues (and in high quality, not WCG 240p).
Plus it's online so Kas should be super comfortable. Or did they play when Kas was in Korea? I don't even know if he still is.

Depending of the timezone (GanZi said he was tired against Sheth) it can be a somehow close serie on NA server.

Was there an interview I missed?
|
Ganzi > MarineKing TvT Kas > MarineKing TvT
Might be interesting. They both have ~equal lag (Ukraine to USA and Korea to USA are pretty similar), so it could be interesting. Still think Ganzi wins though.
|
Ganzi should have this definitively imo, but Kas is good.
5-2? Maybe 5-3? TvT isn't as coin-flippy as the other MMU's, which is pretty nice.
|
Best player in Europe? I think Sase, Thorzain, Morrow, and Mana are all better.
|
Kas is known for imba online performances... I predict GanZi 5-3 Kas, with nice games involved

|
Kas will put up a hell of a fight, I even think he has a decent chance of winning. Anyone knows how will they handle servers (switching EU/KR or maybe playing "neutral" US)? Could be quite big factor.
|
Ehm, Ganzi isn't that good in TvT and Kas has the ability to take him down if he performs at his usual level.
I'd give 60-40 advantage to Ganzi, but no more.
|
If someone can take a TvT series from Ganzi, it's Kas. Really good TvT and he have so much resource.
Should be insane !!
|
I think this will be really competitive. Kas is a beastly online player, and this should go deep.
GanZi 5-3 Kas

Kas did dominate Marineking in WCG so dont count him out I wont be supriced if Kas beats Ganzi

Go Kas, take a few games!

I'd give 60-40 advantage to Ganzi, but no more. Ganzi is the guy who took out MVP in the Super tournament and went up 2-0 in the AoL 2 finals.

Hmm. I am interested to know the difference in latency between EU -> NA and KR -> NA.
I don't want to take anything away from Kas, but Ganzi is obviously much better than this showing of micro. The fact that latency to NA might be different makes KR vs. EU quite unfair.
|
Why you wouldn't get cloak blows my mind
|
Usually Painuser + HD is really good... but this series they have just been completely off... and wrong in alot of ways analytically.

It doesn't make sense to talk about that. Nobody knows how the lag was from Ukraine or Korea at the day it was played (it's not always the same).
If you think lag is the reason why a player is losing, then don't watch the matches.
Kas showed that he can take down players like MarineKing in Korea on the Korean Server (2-0 in WCG).

Well afaik in general EU-> NA is better but eastern Europe has pretty shit connection. I heard eastern Europe -> NA is just as bad as KR->NA.
Good to see that Kas is able to play as good as usual online

This makes me respect MVP's mech vs. bio that much better.

I really hope Kas can go to the GSL sometime. I really love his play it's so... I can't even explain it he has such a cool style that I've only seen him try often.

Well, you can't just say EU->US latency compared to KR->US latency is unfair because Europe is so big. Kas is playing from Ukraine, the latency should be much worse than from like UK or Germany. I don't know how much the difference is, but I think Kas should have some lag, too.
I don't want to argue with the statement that Ganzi has more lag, though, because I have no idea, really.

No, I think it's just that kas is used to it while Ganzi isn't. Korean server has like literally no lag on battlenet for them, but Kas is an international player who is used to playing cross server so it wouldn't seem all too bad to him.
Morrow said that after playing on the KR server in korea he notices lag a lot more when he plays outside korea and it's hard for him to get used to it. In terms of latency it's probably only like 30-50 net difference.

1. The difference in lag each day is inconsequential and negligible in the big picture. If one fluctuates between 250-300ms on a daily basis compared to 500-550ms...
2. I play from Asia right now, and I have about 800ms, knowing Korea has better internet might make this slightly better, but the vast majority of the Korean internet speed is dictated by its local fibers, not the cross-pacific ones that run through Japan.
3. I posted that before the F-bomb.
4. I know Ganzi on a semi-personal level, and trust me he won't drop the F-bomb unless hes extremely frustrated, I think this can be said for all Koreans.
5. "I don't want to take anything away from Kas."
6. It was a genuine question.
|
Seems like Ganzi has switched to bio. Intuitive, because bio is always the aggressor and therefore suffers less from latency.
|
Was Ganzi complaining about lag in a previous game?

I'm just saying that if a player agrees to play somewhere or on a server, he shouldn't complain and the viewers shouldn't talk about any excuses. It takes away the fun from the matches.
It's the same with jet lag, too much traveling, etc. I just don't like it.

Kas cankeep up with the multi tasking of Ganzi, it's painfull. Its decision making suffers a great deal from it :/

How did Kas throw that away -_

kas lagging so bad

There are very human problems with these very human players too. I respect your opinion, but your argument, "I just don't like it," is not enough to convince me not to bring it up. I would rather voice my opinion so a better system can be figured out or at least acknowledged by IPL, than to keep it inside and pretend nothing is wrong.

As much as I hate to admit it since it kind of throws a big question mark at the legitimacy of these games, they're both lagging and both suffering from playing at odd times (or at least Ganzi is if we go by his games against Sheth).

I thought ganzi was a strictly bio player.
|
|
Hm, decent result but not the cleanest play by both.
Nevertheless, thanks for inviting Kas, IPL. That was nice to see, for once.

hmmm, i think ganzi could survive tons of challengers. imho kas was already one of the strongest opponents the foreigners could throw at him. anyway, congratz to ganzi and also props to kas for showing a decent series.

Throw a strong foreign Protoss in there if they want to take Ganzi out.
|
Wow, Ganzi had me scared for a while there, but congrats to him and Kas! Ganzi's play in the fight club has been subpar from what we would expect from him though...I guess a combination of Blizzcup prep with MMA, lag and exhaustion. Not excuses, but just possible factors.

Those, or Mana.
If no toss, I'd like to see MorroW, he's already in Korea, so the lag wouldn't be an issue. But he might not want to play since he's in the Up & Down matches.

Well Kas maybe not the best, but I wouldn't give anyone from that list a position of Best. They played and won each other many times. Dimaga lost to Kas quite a lot last few months (on Ukraine WCG Kas beat White-Ra, Dimaga and Strelok), Mana himself said that Kas is his nemesis, and Kas beated Thorzain on EG Master's Cup recently. So I'd say they all are more or less on the same level (except maybe Stephano who is beating everyone last few months, but again, it was time when all those players were on the top and no-one could beat them)
|
sorry, a quick question after not seeing it mentioned anywhere else. Would you guys release the replays of the games or are they the property of the players?
