I thought Hawk was going to stop playing when school came around. Nice to see he is still playing in these type of events though (at least for now)

Illusion totally would have had that if he'd held the middle and slowed the aggression down a little after his upgrade advantage started to wear out.
He played quite well until then.

In case you missed it FXO won.
The format of winners league allows you to consistently send out your players in their best match-up on the best possible map for that matchup.
Add to that Vile is a full NA team playing Koreans on the NA server.
This is also the World Cup final for Vile, aside from Illusion who played on an MLG sunday this is the biggest games they've ever played where FXO are busy training for their Code S games and/or helping their teammates train for them.
If you can't take a game in your best matchup, likely your opponents worst on your map choice when he's cross server and you're not when are you going to win?
And yet FXO still didn't have to play Leenock or Oz.

God, This is why I hate when foreigners are playing Koreans online its a no win situation. If they win people will say its online koreans had lag, bad map horrible timezones etc.
You cant win.
And the funny thing is that every great foreigner player started in there online cup beating top foreigners and koreans. Stephano, Nerchio, MaNa, Kas comes to mind.
But still people say online means nothing well it obviously does. Do great online over a time periode and you will do great offline after some time..
Thats my oppinion

Vile might not be fan favourites. But they have ALWAYS been a consistent team. State is one of the most underrated foreign players in the scene. I met him at MLG and since then have been a fan.
Anyone saying this would have been a 'walk over' considering not only viles strength, but FXO's own weaknesses (Lag, timezone, player schedule for gsl etc) it was a pretty close.
But we respected them for the team they are and played the likes of gumiho and asd, because VILE is a good team.
You guys saying vile aren't good need to really learn more about the teams in competitions.

What's your opinion on the Korean vs. Foreigner online lag situation? Does playing online typically favor foreigners more than Koreans due to the servers used? Your post seems to imply that it does, since you listed "lag" as one of FXO's weaknesses.

I dont like this sentence at all. You basically taking all of Vile victories away. You know you got a chance to have lag so dont complain about it. I dont even understand why you bring it up it sounds like a bad excuse.
Like I wrote the post ontop of yours its a no win situation for foreigners players by beating Koreans online cross-server. But thats maybe why the koreans chose to play cross-server?
Win/win situation but really sucks for the foreigner players.

If Illusion was smarter with his engagements he would absolutely slaughter asd. He needs to be a little more patient. His macro is absolutely insane though!
|
just finished watching the VODs and ahhh, so close from vile. the chance - gumiho and illusion - asd games were sad . hopefully the whole team can learn from those games and then advance further in the losers bracket. I think they have dignitas next, so that should be a fun series
|
Yeah great games from Illusion; I feel that he is the best Vile player. He just MKPed that last game with over aggression and not scouting out asd's expansions quickly enough.
|
Even the game he lost vs asd was very close, illusion was ahead lots of times (some bad engagements cost him the game). All in all, very impressive.
|
Well played by illusion defiantly a player to keep an eye out for

Lag is a reality. Don't ignore it just because it "takes wins away". You also conveniently ignore this fact: Koreans typically perform more dominantly against foreigners in LAN tournaments than they do in online tournaments (obviously, I don't literally mean LAN, I just mean tournaments like MLG, IEM, or the GSL where players are in the same room and are thus on the same server). This trend has continued long enough for it to not be a coincidence: Lag is indeed a factor, and you can complain all you want about how it takes away from foreigner wins, but, hey, that's actually how it is, and if you don't want to accept it, then that's just too bad for you. With that said, Vile still made it quite a bit closer than I expected - when I saw Gumiho vs. State with the score 3-0, I expected a 5-0 sweep, but State and Illusion played very well.
Edit: I accidentally a word
