I despise that certain people are treating Destiny like some kind of biggot. Destiny may have been in the wrong about some of the things he has said on his stream in the past, but anyone who has watched his stream a fair amount can vouch for the fact that Destiny is actually a really nice, intellegent & funny guy... one that has actually been trying to improve his language on stream since the recent Quantic debacle. (When I was watching his stream yesterday, he said something way "gay", and then quickly corrected himself.)
GIGABYTE's decision is stupid, they're shooting themselves in the foot. They are running a very average tournament in regards to players and prizepool. Their only attractive feature to a lot of people is the fact that Destiny would have been casting (not becasue he's controversial... but because he's funny)... GIGABYTE's tournament is going to take a massive hit in viewer numbers; not becasue of people "boycotting", but becasue people will simply hold no interest for the event now that Destiny is no longer going to be casting. I can pretty much assure you that this decision will hurt them more in the pocket than keeping someone who has had a pretty rocky time of late.
If GIGABYTE read this: Destiny is not a liability. He does know the difference between a professional cast and his stream. You're making a moronic decision if you think that he's going to say something that is going to get you in trouble with sponsers.

I wasn't aware you could predict the future, and the words casters use durring an event. Destiny has always been extremely professional at events and in public.

Stop throwing names around that you actually have no idea about. Luckily for you you are some random person with no stake in this game otherwise you'd have just fucked up big time but whatever.
To be fair, you did describe Artosis' ancestry as "this jewy grasshopper thing."

All because someone couldn't understand why calling a Korean a "gook" when he was mad was inappropriate.
This Destiny controversy is starting to hurt other players and that really is going to "kill esports". Esports deserves to die if they keep on witchhunting players imo. You mean "player", right? The only other witch-hunts I've seen have been over orb and Katu - both casters. Just because your favorite player got in trouble for saying shit that would get him in trouble in every job out there doesn't mean everyone else's career deserves to be over. You could argue Naniwa was victim of a witchhunt as well, but he APOLOGIZED for his actions. If Destiny just sucked it up and apologized, whether or not it was sincere, I guarantee he would be casting GIGABYTE no problem. He did suck it up, and also stated that he would no longer be using that language. This is before Gigabyte decided to turn their cheek @ him. I did not know that. If he did try to make amends then there is absolutely no reason Gigabyte should dump him as caster. Last I had heard he was going down screaming "gook" "faggot" and "nigger". EDIT: Also worth saying. I don't think there should be an issue here in the first place. Destiny's stream behavior has no influence or relation to his behavior at GIGABYTE. If we were to pick our casters based on past actions on streams we'd also have to talk about Incontrol and IdrA using "faggot" repeatedly. I can see why GIGABYTE wouldn't want to be associated with Destiny, but this is why you vet your casters before selecting and publicizing them. Of course behaviour on his personal stream influences things. Its not like someone could be the most racist BM troll in SC2 history (I'm NOT saying Destiny is this) and then expect to be hired as a caster for an event because he hasn't trolled anyone on the events stream. Anyone who is a public figure (hint: If you have thousands of viewers / fans you're a public figure) has their actions judged when they act in public. You don't have to like it, but that's the facts. If that's the case then do you hold Incontrol or Idra to the same standard when they cast? They've both made copious use of the word "faggot" in the past. I agree with you that his personal stream certainly has influence over whether or not he's hired, but I do think in this community this is a slippery slope to go down. Not to mention this is a situation where Destiny was REMOVED, after agreeing to stop using racial slurs. It isn't like he wasn't hired in the first place. You couldn't find a post inside of 3 years where I use that word and you could NEVER find a sound bite for any tourney or stream I have done where i use that word. If it's that bad to even be mentioned to be saying that word, I wonder what you would think of IdrA's usage of them. I've seen him say "faggot" so many times I've lost count. Maybe you are of the opinion that he should be punished as well?

I don't even understand the emotions that go through a person's brain that makes them write this sort of comment. I guess you'll only be satisfied when he's on the streets begging for money to feed his family...

The self righteous bigoted part of this community simply does not like Destiny. They now realize the power they hold in emailing sponsors - and they wont stop abusing that.
Meanwhile, that same part of the community is quite fond of Idra who can say equally offensive things 24/7 and not give a shit.
Yay community.

To be honest this was the correct decision by Gigabyte and I commend them for stepping in and creating a strong signal. I don't care what all the 2 posts destiny fans here think. He chose to be offensive and now reaps the reward.

I don't know how anyone but Artosis could be offended by that (unless grasshopper is now a derogatory term for jews all of a sudden). And I'm pretty sure even Artosis found it somewhat funny. No one was offended.

Oh shit, iNcontroL never actually used those words. Quickly, lets make him answer for what other people have done. That'll show him.

Sad that lies and bigotry will ruin this tournament, won't be watching it now. Hopefully the haters won't ruin things for the other casters or players as well.

So what do you mean? It's ok to call people "gook" as long as you do it on the ladder and it doesn't get public?
I'm glad they scrapped his "I'm so fucking cool and call people gook if I want to cuz I'm Destiny" ass.

Give me one example where Idra has used racist words!

Sick dude you nailed it!
Two years ago I said something that offended nobody but I used the term "jewey" and now in my defense of having never used the word "faggot" you bring it up in some stupid attempt to discredit me!
Go away.

I said ''offensive''
Are you about to argue how calling someone a ''nigger'' is worse than ''faggot'' or sincerely wishing death upon them?
Please do.
And just to clarify, Im not offended and I dont give a shit what anyone says on their own stream in their own time, but seeing how this community is showing incredible bias over these issues is seriously worrying, it turns from ''cleansing esports from bad words herp derp'' to ''i dont like that guy, imma go hurt his cash flow''

I don't know why you are comparing idra and destiny. They are two completely different worlds. Also please stop arguing about this issue. It is derailing the thread.
Anyway I'm excited to see the event.
|
Eh.. seems boring without Destiny, probably not going to watch.
|
Aaaand all of my interest in this event dies. It was just another LAN, the only thing they really offered to be different that interest me was Steven casting. Without that, I don't really have any drive to watch.

With Destiny gone i will not watch the event :/ no interest IMO. best of luck to the players and i wonder if anyone will replace Destiny

What about the french canadian stuff? While Destiny just says a term that he considers a general insult, Idra actually targets a whole population, which is actual racism. But eh, us french canadians are not people anyway. Same thing on reddit: bashing french canadians is the only racism that gets upvoted to hell.
