What is the CSL
Its simple just imagine the NCAA but for starcraft. With famous names like Sean Day 9 Plott, QXC, Spades and more being veterans of this league the CSL has grown from the weekend competive fun between two schools, to a year long battle royal. The Collegiate Starleague now features over 320 colleges across the US and Canada, who fought it out to get to the playoffs. Now four spots, one for each region are up for grabs, each earning a spot at the live grand finals being held at the University of Central Florida.
Finals
This year were doing it big, and finals will be broadcasts live from UCF in Orlando FL. Four schools will step onto the stage for the first ever live team league outside of Korea. Not only that but the event will be a 2-day venture, with the first day to feature the CSL all Stars tournament. Oh yeah did we mention it will be casted?
Live Caster
A CSL veteran himself this man needs no introduction, yes ladies and gentlemen Sean "Day 9" Plott will be there to cast it all, and maybe do some other fun stuff (say tuned).
There will be a qualifying tournament for theCSL ALL Star Invitational (which will be held at our Grand Finals at UCF June 2-3!!) Although I do agree that its cool how big theyve gotten, havent they always had day9? The only reason I knew what the CSL was (prior to being on a team myself) was through day9 casting matches after the dailies

Yes but like CSL day9 then and day9 now has changed. He has become THE caster.. to still do events like this means CSL is doing really well!

CSL has really gotten big this year, I'm super proud of how far everything has come and what the league is poised to accomplish in the future. The only regret I have is that this season has had a huge problem with enforcing rules and cracking down on cheaters. Time after time, match admins let things slide and rules are broken to one team's advantage over another.
Also, letting a team who was accused of cheating advance all the way from the Ro64 to the Ro16 (maybe they even got to Ro8 by now) is really ridiculous. Its gonna be real awkward when Brandeis maphacks and smurfs their way to the finals (they have been proven by thorough investigation to be cheating since Playoffs round 1 but CSL refuses to ban them this late in the season, probably just due to rematch complications or some bullshit). What an embarrassment it's going to be to have Day9 come all the way out and see TheYellowOne exposed at the live finals when he can't just sit at the same computer and play every match by himself with Obs hacks.

Wait what? Evidence? Haven't heard about this until now.

CSL hasn't said anything public about it for whatever reason. The accusation was from the Ro64 match of Rutgers vs Brandeis. Rutgers compiled a report which included replay files, descriptions of suspicious play / observing, and statistical analysis of APM and hotkey similarities (confirmed to the 95% confidence interval).

I would just like to add while this is true, the Rutgers CSL team does not endorse any statements made. Comments made by syncopate are unaffiliated with our school and our team members. Although we were upset by the outcome, we respect CSL's decision on the matter and are in no position to question their decision.

Well then they will know if and when that should happen. This is an internal issue and was meant to remain as such. Im sure its not an isolated incident of such report coming in and the CSL admins probably had good cause for their decision. Rutgers already made some recommendations for how they felt future incidents like this could be avoided and hopes CSL will take them into consideration.

Any info on prize pool or accommodations for the Top 4 schools would be great.

Old replay uploaded before the CSL game. Adz uses 5,8 for his nexus just like in his CSL game. TheYellowOne always uses 5,9 for his nexus.
Plus TheYellowOne is an obs in this friendly custom game.

Oh my goodness, I just checked the brackets and York University knocked out the University of Waterloo fairly early on?! How could this happen? And where's UBC?
Anyways... Western (UWO) and UT (University of Toronto) fighting! The winner will be the lone Canadian representative, I believe. UT is the university I most associate with Waterloo (similarly high Asian population and they have a rivalry in quite a few areas; UBC is similar demographically, too).
Go Canada Go!
|
Wow, Chris Ostojic plays for UWO (Western) and his ID is GoSuostojiy? Is this the same ostojiy that we've seen in some major tournaments? :O
|
T.O.P., Not sure what you're trying to say here. Do you believe they weren't cheating? You should ask to see the full report to see the whole story.
Adz may be a different person than TheYellowOne, but who says two people from the same school can't play on each others' accounts at a CSL meeting?
Again, I'm really not sure what you're getting at.

They were knocked out in the regional quarter finals (round 3) by UC Riverside after beating San Diego St. and Cal Tech.

Again, I'm really not sure what you're getting at. In this old replay, adz plays exactly like the adz in the CSL game, hence proving that someone wasn't smurfing on his account.

I don't understand why you're so vehemently opposed to the investigation's results that you haven't even seen.
First off: there are two "adz" -- one of them got a namechange at the beginning of the playoff season to match.
But giving the benefit of the doubt, let's assume that replay is of the right one. **Edit: turns out this is the new adz, and this game WAS from the CSL, and was used as smurfing evidence in the investigation
What metrics are you using to say he "plays exactly like the adz in the CSL game? There are many nuances to a game of StarCraft, and Rutgers has compiled statistical analysis using many replays of both players past and present to make their accusation. All of their replays fall within a 98% confidence interval for APM, except the five games they played between Adz and TheYellowOne at the CSL's request -- adding just these 5 games to the dataset dropped the valid confidence level to 95%. This is just the tip of the iceberg for what Rutgers has done to provide thorough evidence of cheating.
Oh, and that's just the smurfing. We haven't even discussed the alleged maphacking.

Just to clairify this is not an old replay but in fact is the replay from the first weeks weeks csl match. Even after repeated requests no old replays were made available from AdZ.808 and all of the replays from AdZ.808 that are on drop.sc have been uploaded by me. Just because TheYellowOne was obsing dosent mean he wasnt playing. For example note that the coordinator is missing from this game, but is obsing all other games in the match, which is odd considering he has observed almost all of the csl games. In fact there was never a game in csl where adz.421 adz.802 and theyellowone were obsing at one time.

Look, if we're going to throw around accusations, why not just post all of the evidence. Otherwise we may as well let it die.
|
Not sure what you mean -- The evidence lies within the replays... they're available on cstarleague.com for anyone to download.
If its the full report and analysis you want to see, you'd need to get it from either Rutgers or the CSL admins and I'm not sure if or how they'd want to distribute that.
|
On a brighter note, I think CSL is doing a fantastic job with their support + prize pools.

I was referring to the full report and analysis. Imo since this is already kind of out in the open, CSL should address it and post the full report/analysis that Rutgers compiled. It just wouldn't be right if the report is as conclusive as it sounds, and a team was not punished for these actions.
Event is looking really great and exciting right now - I would hate to see it asterisked with something like this.
