The time has come for our twenty-second IGN Pro League Fight Club! This is a weekly king of the hill showmatch series. Basically, there will be a 1 vs. 1 best of 9 showmatch each and every week, where the winner will earn a $500 prize and a $100 bounty on their head. For example, if a player wins three weeks in a row they will have earned $1,500 and a $300 bounty. If a NEW challenger defeats him, they will earn $500 for the showmatch, take the $300 bounty home, and have a new $100 bounty placed on their head for each week that they win. (Similar to IPL Team Arena, but without the teams!)
When: Monday, Jun 18 11:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) (we will also broadcast the match repeatedly afterwards!)
Liquid`TaeJa pulled an upset last week over Creator.Prime, and now one of Creator's teammates is stepping up to try to avenge him! MarineKing is a player that needs no introduction, no additional hype necessary. Will TaeJa be able to show off some TvT prowess versus this multiple-tournament winner? Or will MKP reclaim the Fight Club champion's seat for Prime?
That seems to be the general consensus. However, TLPD shows TvT as best match up for MKP (himself said so a while ago also) and TvZ as best match up for Taeja.

Where did you get that TvT is the best matchup for MKP? According to tlpd, he is 76.69% vs p, 68.22% vs t, and 67.59% vs z. His best matchup is TvP, followed by TvT and then TvZ.
I won't be there to cast today since I'm still out of town, but I'm so pumped about the match up I did a little write-up on it. Can't wait to see these games!
Taeja was MarineKing’s TvT kryptonite in 2011, beating him in CSN’s Clash of the Houses 2-0, the GSTL season 1, the GSL Up and Down matches last year. MKP managed to beat Taeja once in the Zotac Team Invitational, making the final total for the year 4-1 in favor of Taeja.
In 2012 things are currently tied at 2-2 with both MKP and Taeja 2-0ing each other in different sets during their GSL Code S group. Taeja would win the final set however, sending MKP to Code A and the Team Liquid player to the Round of 16. (Last season)
IPL Fight Club will mark the first time these two players have met in a foreign event and the best-of-9 format will be the perfect place for MarineKing to redeem himself for his earlier losses and, conversely, a strong platform for Taeja to show his dominance over what many consider to be the best player in Starcraft 2!

ELO (peak ELO, and also his ELO was higher vs T before KSL final), which is a better indication than just pure win rate.
MKP win less often vs T but his opponents were higher ranked than other races.
Also, MKP is ridiculous indeed. I looked at that hellion banshee attack against sieged tank/viking and thought MKP made a mistake.. shows why I'm a scrub and he is a champion ^^

it was a bad attack but it didn't matter, he had way more supply and had like a +30 worker advantage.

He had more supply, yes. But the casters showed it was 45 to 45 scv's a second before the attack. I guess it was Taeja catching up on econ that weakened his defense.

yup, i believe it was like 40+ to 10+ of SCV advantage for MKP. Taeja did a good job remaking off 3CC.
MKP stomping Taeja :D. I still remember last year when Taeja made a fool of MKP in TvT's, feels good now. That Prime vs Slayers game MKP vs Taeja on Dual Sight T_T
Is it just me, or is TvT no longer the elegant chess match it's been long proclaimed to be? And not simply judging from this showmatch, my ladder experience in TvT has declined, but it's possible I'm just facing better players and am not used to their style. It feels like it just might be the messiest mirror match up right now.

depends alot on the opening builds players choose imo.

Since 2012. Prior to this year, MKP had bad TvT and I would cringe watching them. He also used to have the worst banshee defense ever and I would see him die to cloakeds banshee a lot. His TvT this year is so much better now and is night and day compared to what it used to be.

If you want to watch art in SC2, watch MVP's TvT's.
MKP is just playing like a straight up beast...inelegant, but effective and brutal.
Bad compared to what? I don't really remember a time where MKP's TvT was under 50%, but I guess now it's a better matchup of his because zergs and protoss matchups have gotten harder. Maybe the blue flame helion era that lasted around 2 months or so.

You mean like the 2 rax marine, marauder all-in? That was his most recent TvT build. Not the elegant TvT of old, of MVP or anyone else.

it's just MKP's tvts, they're not really drawn out tank wars but very timing and micro based from what i've seen this year he actually has the highest tvt winrate of any player this year lol. have only dropped matches to alive (2-1 marauder proxy) and taeja (after tilting hard). won every single other BOx and most BO1s this year looking forward to him playing Mvp in ro16!

Haha would actually be a good TvT now! MKP best matchup is definitely TvT atm.

Not every game can be a beautiful management game. Didn't happen in BW TvZ, and certainly not in SC2 TvT. I think you've just been watching a few bad ones. The problem is, there hasn't really been too many TvT's recently, since the good Terrans aren't getting far enough in tournaments to meet each other.

his vsP is still pretty decent and probably the best of any player's atm though, and while his vsZ is not super hot, relative to other terrans it's also pretty good haha
Finally a fun TvT to watch. Dreamhack has been a snorefest.
It's too bad you missed the actual Dreamhack that went on this weekend. It was awesome.
This series is pretty one-sided.
The quality of dreamhack games were pretty poor actually, especially the finals. Problem is there were no terrans in any of the later rounds. Can only stand so many 2 base all ins in PvZ.

There's a big difference between not enjoying the tournament because certain players are races you wanted to see weren't playing, and because the games were actually bad or low quality. Terrans weren't at the end of the tournament for once (which surely bored some people), but plenty of people still enjoyed watching the games between Protosses and Zergs. You're more than welcome to your opinion though.

I actually saw the majority of the games too and sorry to say, they were pretty low quality games. But yeah, just my opinion ^^
Welp, that was a rather one sided series, it's a shame Taeja didn't put up more of a fight but TvT has never been his strong-suit. Very nice execution from MKP.

Need a DRG/Alicia. Or maybe Parting :D
I really hope they don't bring in someone like DRG or PartinG, MKP has played those so much, and watching them matchup all the time is just getting dull.
