No what happens is people register for the tournament and then their name appears in the list up until 1 hour before the tournament starts. When check in begins the list shows the players which have checked in and not just the players who have registered.
So what happened is: - Huk registered and appears in the list - Check in begins and Huk no longer appears in the list - Huk checks in and shows up on the list once again

Jellikit is pretty good, he beat me 1v1 once . Also he beat LzGamer and took a game of Trimaster in a earlier TSL qualifier. Pink did make it to the semi-finals in a earlier TSL qualifier but he isn't really known so dunno if upset.

Goodgod are these casters annoying. The last time i watched is when they casted DBS - Lalush and were euphoric after DBS successfully bunker rushed and proclaimed it the best game ever.
apparently Bischu pylon blocked the wall of qxc, and made a gate off the pylon. The probe killed the scvs making the rax and two zeelots were able to make some damage.

I've decided to mute them lol.
Can anybody explain what craziness happened at the start? I turned it on to see an un-powered gate and zealots in QXCs main.

The problem is that they know nothing about the game. Seriously nothing. I'm not sure they play the game at all. Arrrr.... "and we see a sensor tower.... i love this, we never see sensor towers blablabla".
Bischu build a pylon and gate on qxc's walloff and made 2 zealots to harass and cannon expand freely.

He should have the time to play both. He has to play 2 Bo3 in an hour and a half (until quarters) and then 1 or 2 Bo3 in the MSI Pro Cup and then he can finish the Qualifiers before the cast.

Yeah, Goody was definitely out because even if a newcomer took 2nd place, they'd be set to overtake him with 100 points. Aside from whoever takes second, Beastyqt and JonnyRecco, Mycerion and Ret, are poised to break into the top 8 by making it to the quarter-finals and semi-finals, respectively. No one other than Goody should get demoted, although there will be a lot of ties at 100 points. Going into the second set of 5 qualifiers, second place along should no longer guarantee a spot in the top 8. And some of the better players like Huk (and maybe Stephano) are going to find themselves in an uphill battle to qualify unless they're able to take 1st place in one of these qualifiers.

He did, but he wanted to play TSL quals up to the Ro16 because of the scoring system. His problem was not playing in the first four qualifiers - now he has to maximize his performance in every qual in order to have a shot at qualifying.
Maybe getting a few points before having to leave for MSI Pro Cup was worth it to him... Can't really blame him this time, since every point counts :/
As for Bly, well it's sad but Bly DID lose. (if they actually played) I don't see how it sucks for him. It sucks for the show, it's luck for the next guy who gets a freewin, but the ones who lost... well... lost.

We should hear what the rules are first i think, if he indeed can do that for 21 points. Good for him. I would be fine with taking his points away to. No idea what TL refs use for this kind of situation tbh.
They must be thinking of doing something with that result.

I think he paused just to take a moment to think about what to do. Was at particularly crucial moment in the game, in terms of decision making. I'm not sure what to think about that, seems like that isn't what the pause function is for.

Hmmmmm might be, but since he forfeited, he didn't delay the tournament (auto-disqualified), so from this line only, I don't think they can remove his points or whatever. Still not cool, but understandable.

I actually think it is a good thing in a way. It just shows how thriving the SC2 foreign scene is currently. Top players have so many chances to play in tournaments for money. Compare that with foreign BW (or other computer games) currently. Obviously it means some clashes/double-bookings occur, but that is a preferable situation than only one tournament every few months or so.

Yeah, of course, I was just getting really worried we'd see a walkover because Fraer should have started playing a BO5 against Titan in Ritmix RSL ten minutes ago, but apparently he's playing the TSL BO3 first.

If Stephano has forfeited due to MSI Pro Cup, then that is the only way to resolve the issue fairly. If they disqualify Stephano and strip him of qualifying points that he had legitimately earned through winning over earlier opponents, then they set an incredibly bad precedent that could destroy the entire concept of fair play during these qualifiers. In order to avoid losing ALL accrued pts that day, players with a clash of tournaments coming up, instead of forfeiting would instead play to deliberately lose and thus maintain pts gained up to that round. Players actually throwing matches to avoid disqualification would render the entire qualification process a farce.

if Stephano reported the win and uploaded the replays vs Bly then yes , but I am not sure if he did , as it still is 0-0 in the bracket. If he didn't you could make the case that he forfeited vs Bly already as he never technically finished the match vs Bly.

Definitely, and the people I mostly want to finish top 8 are below the line, so good day for me. Better if they'd still be in it, but can't win them all.

ret already won both games in RO16?
Yes. Fraer is playing a BO5 against Titan in RSL right now, and he's only 1-1 with seven minutes left to show up before he gets a FF loss in the first game against Ret and seventeen minutes until he gets a FF loss in the second game.

If that is the case, Fraer should hope he does not lose against Titan, as playing it has caused him to 'lose' against Ret.

Yes. He has to play in MSI Pro Cup tonight against SuperNova. The tournament is being run by his team Millenium, and he cannot miss it as he previously got in trouble for missing one a few months ago.

Afaik you aren't supposed to stream the Ro8 games.
I won't disagree because honestly I have no idea myself, but as another example, Axeltoss as well as z33k.tv are streaming Happy vs BabyKnight as it is being played live, right this moment.
Either way, I'm pretty excited for the rest of the games in the tournament. ^^
Baby walked his deathball directly under it without seeing the dot and the zealots just evaporated. His immediate typed exclamation of "OGMS-PPPASDOIH" pretty much says it all.

Happy is playing this quite well, but honestly I think BabyKnight's play is a little sloppy, especially the way he forgot those upgrades. He could have harassed with a warp prism or something before Happy almost mined out most of his side of the map. Either way, a very very entertaining game. Hope the rest are equally good. ^^
Just a little bit sad that these epic games are delaying the semis and finals being played and consequently their being casted. ;_;

Happy is infamous for TvP's like these.
I remember an insane game on Tal'Darim a while back, I think in DreamHack against... ToD was it? Where near the end Happy only had battlecruisers and mules and was quite close to winning several times but ended up losing eventually. Epic late-game TvPs indeed.
Happy doing a good job abusing Terran advantages in the super late game - constantly sniping observers, massing orbitals and nuking to gain better positions. And also mass Ghost, pretty good.

Honestly I think BabyKnight should have just not let it get to that point. He let Happy not only get more bases than him but also mine them out completely uncontested. Not to mention his forgetting his weapon (and shield, I guess) upgrades for a long time. But yeah, Happy played this really well.
watch happy play and learn TvP lategame guys... just build ghosts vikings and medivacs, not fucking 100 supply of marine marodeur and 5 ghosts to then whinea bout P imba lategame.

not letting get it to that point is pretty easily said from your perspective, probably without knowing a lot about this game even.

Maybe, I'm just thinking that with all the HTs he had, he probably could have spared a few and go for a sneaky storm drop before Happy had a massive econ advantage and huge bank. It's just my speculation, nothing more. ^^

Exactly my point. This is actually a good way to capitalize on an advantage in lategame TvP. The counter to what happy did would be a lot of warp prism play, mass zealot warpins into the main and outlying expos. However, you can't really afford to do that in the situation BabyKnight was in without losing your 4th to a counter.
BabyKnight with the calculated risk of an early 3rd only to let Happy back in the game with very sloppy army control. Meanwhile, Happy, despite his early indecissiveness, managed to take every opportunity given to him to get back into this. Pretty sloppy game overall, especially compared to the first one. Rooting for Happy to take it honestly.
God even Babyknight can't fuck up enough to overcome the advantage the 3nexus gave him. Terrible engagement on terrible engagement and he still is winning. I guess Happy had instant BO loss when he didn't immediately see 3rd nexus though.

The official Teamliquid stream will go live when the semis/finals are ready to be cast. Just keep an eye on the countdown timer on the top of TL.net and then a link will eventually appear under TSL 4 Q7 on the right side where the Axeltoss/z33k streams are now.
Awesome stuff! My Hasu/Ret finals prediction made back in the Ro32 might just happen! I don't know anything about BabyKnight, but HasuObs is a very strong player and has my bet for advancing... though it is PvP, and if BabyKnight's made it to the quarterfinals, he's most likely able to walk the walk. As for Ret and KawaiiRice, I feel it's a safe choice to vote on Ret comfortably defeating Kawaii. No insult to Kawaii, but barring some severe mistakes by Ret, most would agree that the Terran player is the underdog in this set.
With any luck, we'll soon see a sick ZvP finals. Go, Ret and Hasu!

If I'm not mistaken, Babyknight is quite strong in PvP. I haven't seen much of his play but I remember him 2-0'ing PvP specialist Elfi at CPH Games.
His TLPD also shows a 67 % winrate in PvP. So he probably has a decent shot against Hasu.

Really well played by Kawaii there, although I hope Ret can pull out a win in game 3. Anyone know what was up with that comment at the end by Ret? Is one of them super tired or something?

Kawaii prob didnt sleep that much since the tournament starts pretty early for US players, atleast if you are westcoast. Not sure where kawaii lives tho!
ret did play well. But he lack in the macro part that game. The decision making wasn't at top when he made all those banelings all the time. But i think ret meant that hes tired and haven't slept much so I hope he can do well last game for sure!

It looked like he had a clear game plan in his mind but then the QXC bunkers screwed everything up in his head as he realised he had no way to break them until the end the drone cycle and an additional cycle.

Actually Ret was referring to Kawaii not sleeping, which Kawaii himself mentioned a couple of times earlier in the tournament when he was streaming, something about hoping for people to beat him just so he can go to sleep (obviously that didn't happen yet ^^)
I'm also rooting for Ret. Time to put that talent into results, eh? ^^

oh i'm sorry my bad! Of course kawaii is from the US. I misstyped so much there i'm actually quite sleepy myself. yeah ret is capable of a lot more and we all knows it. Kawaii isn't bad at all though.
Aaah the American and terran hope falls today, well played by kawaii hopefully he'll get a better result when he gets to play at a better time for him.
good job ret! those banelings were handsome. That muta harass damaged kawaii more than ppl thought it would. The first attack towards the main with banelings/ling/mutalisk was pretty ok for kawaii. Second one was frightening.

Some moderated chats are very nice tho, but I guess those are player's chat and not tournament chats.
Gretorp saying 1base all in is the best choice? When he's got the tech advantage and at least simular army size, he should expand since BabyKnight doesn't have a way to punish it.
very good play by Hasuobs for sure! that warpin zealots in babyknights exp just tortured him so much. And the immortal choice was a really good one. Nice micro and overall well played!
Ahh that game wasn't that enjoyable at all. Cannon rush ends up with a disaster and the followup is obviously dark shrine. Well the third game will be a horror i bet
I don't think Gretorp understands PvP at all... on 1base all in it's not at all true that 3 sentries = 6 stalkers... He can't spend enough gas compared to minerals
This last game was a terror like i said. Very well played by both players but HasuObs was very smart this game. BabyKnight did what he could. But that proxy pylon warpin in zealots really hurt him badly enough so ggz
Hasuobs vs ret this will be very interesting. Ret excellent macro oriented player vs HasuObs very micro intense player. Interesting for sure. Hope the games will be long and intense now!
Well done by ret for sure! I love the counter-attack behind HasuObs armé forcing him to move back to his expansion just to buy time. And the fungal growths holding Hasu's armé back from attacking was excellent play. That engagement Hasu had was dangerous but not enough since Ret is a very good macro player.
That was sweet play by Ret. I think Hasu may go for that warp-prism sentry in the main ramp forcefield play. At least that's what he did against Zikto.
On June 27 2012 08:06 Sp00ly wrote: That was sweet play by Ret. I think Hasu may go for that warp-prism sentry in the main ramp forcefield play. At least that's what he did against Zikto.
It's a really strong build on this map so I wouldnt be surprised to see it. It seems like a lot of protoss go for either sentry warp prism attack or the immortal all in on this map
Oh man, some questionable builds from HasuObs so far and Ret being... well... Ret. As much as I love Hasu this is honestly looking like a clean sweep to me, which is unfortunate imo given how good these two players are.
Both of those allins were made to look so bad by Ret. Not sure if poorly executed, if Ret is this much better than Hasu, or they are just terrible builds nowadays.
Ok i have to say that this game was not even close. Hasuobs making 1gate&cyb exp didn't come out well since it wasn't used as it should. He should of pressured a lot sooner instead of waiting. Everyone knows that Ret loves to drone up as quickly as possible and just macro his way up too 200/200. Bad call by hasu there
On June 27 2012 08:14 Integra wrote: Guess Hasu only knows 2 base allins.
The problem with the "Stephano style" (fast 3hatch --> rocket high supply around 12:00) is... Either you can defend against the protoss 2 base all in... Or else the protoss can take a 3rd, but have a smaller army - which will make it hard to defend. Forcefields, placement and composition can obviously help out a lot in both scenarios.
Can't blame Hasu... However, I think he should've gone with some 3g pressure. Just to make Ret cut 5-10 workers would have helped him a ton more than most people realize

Hmm I'm not a huge fan of Gretorp and I like Bitter best when he's with Rotterdam but honestly, the casting tonight is not *that* bad, wrong outcome calls notwithstanding. Or maybe I'm just too sleepy to notice something that others see/hear.
Quite happy to see Ret advance though, he definitely deserves it! (sad he didn't get to play fraer, that would've been a fun match I think)
That last game was so easy for ret. It must of hurt for hasuobs watching his armé getting crushed like that. Great play by ret! good job!~ Hasuobs did well but not well enough tho.
Congratulation Ret. Even though I don't like to admit it, but Hasu looked helpless in that series.
But what was Gretorp talking about, regarding Ret being in the Quarterfinals "time after time"? Apart from his first place finish this time, he only entered the qualifiers once and placed in the quarterfinals once.
I was extremely happy to see Ret's play against those proxy 2 raxes, considering that it was exactly what kicked him out in the last semi. I'm happy for him and it was a joy to watch!
yeah it was well deserved for ret trying hard has he does. And playing like he did in this tournament or at least the last few games we saw was very impressive. Splendid!
It's a bit depressing watching the lists of players right now though, if the qualifiers were done at this point, we would have 11 Z, 9 P and 2(!) T. While I'm a biased zerg who loves watching zergs crush, I really hope that terrans can find some quick solutions for the diversity of the tournament. 8 more to go though

Where can I get high res' versions of the splash/headline art? Just checked the Alpin site. Don't see the current Queen picture or the Zealot used for Sase.
First (and likely only) player to make the bracket stage of all 4 TSLs. Gratz Ret !!!
Sheth just keeps racking up the points despite no top 4s. I'm rooting for him being a Liquid player and possibly the only American. Also, good to to see Mycerion get some more points.
I imagine Stephano will qualify if he really wants to and gives himself a couple qualfiers in case of a big upset.
As far as the lack of terrans goes, yeah its a bit concerning as a terran. However, we have Thorzain, Kas, and Sting in for sure, Select, Beasty, Goody, Kawaii, Cloud, and Happy are still within striking distance. I also expect MKP to go on a run in one of the Korean quals.
I know it sucks terrans having trouble right now because of the nerfs and metagame, but zerg had 0 players in the TSL 3 final 8, so it could be worst.
Looking forward to another exciting qualifier tomorrow.
