The time has come for our thirty-third IGN Pro League Fight Club! This is a weekly king of the hill showmatch series. Basically, there will be a 1 vs. 1 best of 9 showmatch each and every week, where the winner will earn a $500 prize and a $100 bounty on their head. For example, if a player wins three weeks in a row they will have earned $1,500 and a $300 bounty. If a NEW challenger defeats him, they will earn $500 for the showmatch, take the $300 bounty home, and have a new $100 bounty placed on their head for each week that they win.
When: Monday, Sep 17 11:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) (we will also broadcast the match repeatedly afterwards!)
TSL's HyuN has not only broken the record for most Fight Club wins, but is in the process of shattering it. He's got 5 wins straight and is showing no signs of slowing down, taking out Squirtle, MajOr, Crank, Tear, and Grubby already! This week, HyuN faces a HUGE challenge in Fnatic.aLive, our IPL4 champion! Will HyuN's crazy streak finally be put to an end, or will aLive be dismantled and destroyed like the previous challengers? Tune in to find out!
HyuN is riding too much momentum to drop this against an average TvZ'er who stil cannot manage to really win a TvZ set. I predict 5-2 for HyuN, continuing this incredible streak.

idk anything about alive that makes you think average

"Average TvZ'er", his TvT and TvP is still world class, but his TvZ always looks shaky no matter which opponent he faces. Reminder he is facing HyuN, who has a really strong ZvT, capable of defeating any Terran.
HyuN 5-0 Alive. Alive just doesn't have the TvZ to win this. Somebody who was flubbing series back when TvZ was terran favoured has very little chance now that it favours zerg.
Hyun 5-2. Even before the patch Alive was only an average TvZer. Hyun has also improved leaps and bounds in his ZvZ and ZvP from a few months ago, i don't see why he shouldn't have improved his TvZ as well.
aLive has this, pretty comfortable series for him, hes two class above the likes HyuN played, except Squirtle and dont forget he lost to DRG 1-2 in a very close series.
YEEEEEEEEES! Finally a non-Protoss contender. This is Hyun's weakest matchup by far I think because of that aLive should take this, but I forsee a 5-3/5-4 either way. Momentum certainly has to be factored in though, anything can happen

aLive 5-3
aLive might be able to win, but no chance in hell is this a comfortable series for him. Though HyuN hasn't been making a huge splash in the GSL, he tears up online cups like crazy, and almost every interview I see from TSL players they all talk about how HyuN is the best in the house or their zerg players thanking him for giving them a build that won them a game etc.
If aLive wins(Which I don't think he will) it is not going to easy/comfortable....

While Alive is definitely the stiffest non-Squirtle competition he's had yet, you give Hyun way too little credit, especially considering it's an online event, Hyun's domain, basically.
Man, I thought Alive would have a chance at taking a couple of games off of Hyun, but Hyun just shows why he's so good in this matchup with his constant Lair tech aggression.
It's good zergs are going back to Lair agression. Hyun, and the comeback of DRG are a fresh air in a match up dominated by Hive rushing for so many weeks.

My thoughts exactly :D I love HyuN's playstyle, much much more entertaining and fun to watch compared to turtle up to broods and slow push T.T
Its fun to watch lair aggression yes. Hyun smashed Major in tsl 5 then lost 3games in a row. He looked awesome in the first 2games there as well. I think he will take this one thou

Both. Most Terrans are weak in current TvZ though ;;

Hmmm, I'm surprised by Hyun's run. I haven't watched his games recently, but I've always known him as the guy who would make a 100 banelings and then suicide his army inefficiently, then gg. Maybe he's improved since then because he was nothing special back then.

the next Zerg bonjwa?
Currently doubling the IPL Fight Club record, most being completely one-sided. It still surprises me how he failed to make Code S.
He's secretly been one of the best Zergs in the world, but it seems like this community really only views foreign tournament results and don't study Starcraft. Hyun/DRG style is the superior style, but it is so much easier to rush for the unkillable BL/Infestor army and win that way. Go download a Hyun replay. He has games with 450 apm and 230 epm-- only a couple Zergs in the world even come close to these numbers (DRG, Stephano).
It's very hard to tell who the good Zergs are nowadays, but Hyun is the real deal. Once the whole afk drone behind queens to BL infestor craze dies down, through metagame shift or patch, we will see more clearly which Zergs stay at the top from their mechanics. I suspect, DRG, Hyun, Stephano, and a handful of Kespa Zergs.

It's obvious that HyuN is basically unbeatable in a Bo9 against Protoss and Terrans. Really, sending a top-tier Zerg is the only way to beat HyuN I think. Curious or Symbol would be interesting to see I think.

Stephano's mechanics are not that good, and he admitted it several times in the past. The patch zerg gameplay is already dying out in Korea.
But yes, Hyun has always been improving ever since he first joined TSL. Once he learns to adjust to the GSL format he will be a consistent Code S player.

Hyun wrecked Symbol in the IEM qualifier. Symbol in general has been looking a bit weak in the ZvZ matchup while Hyun has been getting more and more consistent. You need an online warrior to defeat an online warrior.
Wow just saw that game it just seems like that was not Alive playing... i'm really serious about that. Anyway Hyun is a monster, the thing is, is has no offline achievement AT ALL. He seems to be rolling over everyone but as soon as he faces a good opponent and there's a lot on the line that's not the same story... see WCS qualifiers against Polt.
So a lot of APM, a great display of skill, but not to be compared with Leenocks, DRGs, or Stephanos.
Btw I think the Hyun/DRG style (a lot of banelings) relies on a mystake from the terran while the late game play is much more about skill from both sides. And the late game broodlord/queens/infestor army is not likely in many maps, just cause it's too slow.
Heh, the problem with this fight club format is that there are a number of players that are really hard to dethrone unless you keep bringing in top-notch competition. So you could use DRG to take out Hyun, probably, but then who is going to defeat DRG? To IPL's credit, they've done a good job in getting a lot of really strong players to participate, so I'm sure they'll find someone.

oh you know time travel have been discovered secretly here in sweden for quite a while, but we don't like to share stuff
on a more serious matter, I didn't expect Hyun to crush alive 5-0. Alive is good 1-2games he should have been able to win I feel. Quite disappointing series
Damn, 5-0d? aLive too? Hyun, you are crazy. I hope you keep dominating because you deserve to. aLive, I hope you still don't feel invisible although you probably want to be just that right now.
Anyone know of a write up on HyuN's the ZvT style he was using throughout this match? In a nutshell it was 3 hatch, Roach warren, quick +1 melee and carapace into Bane and Spire, gearing for a super aggressive mid game. I haven't been able to turn up recent replays, but this style looks insanely fun to play.

That used to be one of the primary build orders back during winter 2011, when Terrans opened with heavy infantry pressure.
