I want Nerchio to win, since not a single Zerg has qualified so far. BabyKnight has probably played a bit more, though. Coupled with Protoss being quite strong vs Zergs from what I've seen that should make him the favourite in this matchup.
Yeah, BabyKnight will win, Nerchio has only 38 games on his account, I don't think that's enough to beat BabyKnight. (In comparison, BabyKnight has over 200)
At least you don't get result spoilers anymore with the new match history hiding system, that's a big bonus for online leagues and tournaments.
Babyknight is one of the sickest most talented HotS players right now. Truth be told, I don't know anyone who could take him out. Nerchio will have his plate full.
Does anyone know how much hots naaarchio has been playing? I know babyknight has played quite the amount but I haven't heard of naaaarchio in hots yet.
Oh lord. It was snute getting owned LOL i thought they had started early and nerchio was just gettin owned >.> Was listening in the background; playing pkmn lol
Why has no one told the"Axes" to do proper player introductions yet? Its so lackluster it makes me cringe. "Strong european zerg vs strong european protoss".
This game is a perfect example why the tempest was a good addition to the game. It is so boring to watch Nerchio just build spines and wait for the Protoss to move out. Now, theoretically, with the tempest he doesn´t need to move out, but Nerchio needs to be aware that staying forever is not really the best idea.
Sorry guys, i didn't know that nexus can shoot mutas so in the end i decided not to do mass muta cause it's easier to defend. Then when i saw tempest i was like "Wow what is that?" i forgot that unit exists and can break my contain and didn't think about vipers at all. It's an excuse but ofcourse BabyK deserved to win at entombed valley.

Maybe you should actually play the game before you play an important match then...

They are played a few days in advance of the broadcast.
Can you state, why you did not saturate your bases 4 and 5? On 5th base you did not even take the gases. You made a hive pretty early, but waited like 5 minutes to actually start doing something on hivetech level. Was that just a blunder or your intent?

Well, at least the early stages looked way better than anything Snute produced vs Sase yesterday, so I'm kinda relieved we might see some actually good games.
Edit: Woah, Axslav will have to work overtime as an analyst, that's almost overkill in play-by-play.

It would be risky cause he could always get out through his 3rd base a little bit faster so i needed some units as well and those spine took a lot of my drones too. Then i wasn't really sure what to do with my contain, to go hive and broodlords or some other composition like hydra/spine/corruptor

Why? If Nerchio qualifies to the actual event I am sure he'll practice plenty of HotS for it. If not then who cares, first game was good regardless. It's better for MLG to invite good players even if they haven't played much HotS than to invite average players who're playing HotS exclusively. You might get patchy games now but you'll get better games at the main event.

I cannot believe that doesn't kill a protoss in HoTS. Babyknight was at the other end of the map and got nydused in the main with a dedicated roach/ling/queen attack. Granted the queens could have been better microed, that was a gigantic blunder by Babyknight but he wasn't punished for it thanks to recall+nexxon.

Babyknight reacted extremely fast there. It still was a pretty close call.
Hots ZvP looks like WoL PvZ. Protoss tries to turtle until death ball and just move out, and zerg is the one who's trying to kill him before 16-17 min :p
I like recall as a retreatment option. So the games are less likely ONE blob fight determines the winner. But T and Z should have better abilities to retreat too. Medivac speed kind of helps, Zerg is commited most of the time to the fight that decides the game.
On February 12 2013 07:54 sitromit wrote: Why did Babyknight move out before he finished building up his Colossus Voidray deathball?
couse a zerg that has been 4 bases so long (soon to be 5) will hold such 2-base deathball with ease. And therefore u need to apply some presure. It was to late though

Some do, some don't.
Tomorrow for example, Stephano probably hasn't played too much due to GSL and Proleague, Titan took a break and played poker almost exclusively for a bit after christmas, not sure when he started practicing again, his WoL account is inactive, so I hope he's been practicing HotS.
Nerchio still has a bunch of WoL tournaments coming up, IEM World Finals, Vasacast Invitational this weekend, he has probably played more WoL than HotS this season.

IEM is in HoTS, isnt it ?
No, it's in WoL, starting 5th March, before release of HotS.
I'm glad, WoL looks a bit more balanced than HotS and I still have more fun watching WoL at the moment, plus all the good players still practice it.

Well, zerg was teching to blood lords, and with more than 7 it was usually gg.
That's exactly what it was supposed to counter, right? I remember reading some reasoning like that, right? Supposed to make holding off early rushes easier, right?

There's no way you can think that was intentional.
LOL, come on. Nerchio is pretty experienced in baneling busts.
You really think he timed his drone transfer to coincide with the probe going by? I mean it's possible, but I doubt it. You can't even know that Babyknight inferred shit from that either. Even if you are that sneaky, half the time it's not going to have the desired result anyways. Banking on crap like that is just poor play, and you should expect a protoss to FF well vs banelings at this level.

Well I'll concede that he did the drone transfer on purpose. Assuming that it fooled the opponent into not expecting banelings then calling FF OP when he holds is still idiotic imo.

i love how the other guys dont give credit to babyknight for that hold, and talking like the baneling bust was soo amazing, baneling bust was never good and only worked if the toss does a mistake, so i think his hate is quite reasonable

idiotic is to think he is not transferring drones on purpose, when he leaves only like 7 on main mineral line. cmon

srsly great play? he goes for baneling all in and fails and you call it great play?
Did you see what he did with his drones? He completely tricked Babyknight, no intel no preparation. Derp forcefield GG.

I don't hate you at all. You're one of my favorite foreign zergs, but stop being so damn smug and credit your opponents when they win a good game.
I'm actually really, really happy zerg are 0-4 in the qualifiers.
Better to be under powered during the beta than when release hits... Just hope blizzard changes around some stuff. I will note however that Nerchio didn't play any of the meta game... at all. I'm really disappointed.
That was over faster than expected. I would've loved to see Nerchio at MLG Dallas but I'm sure he will go absolutely crazy in hots when he played it more! Gg wp Babyknight, good luck in Dallas!

Well I apologize for failing to pick up on certain details.

You have to go swarm host.
You mean in late game? Maybe, if it every comes to that.
Swarm host is even better with terran though if they´re going a lot of mech (tanks). We´ll have to see how good HotS is figured out when we finally have a tournament with top level players in it. I´m not that impressed with that, yet. Nerchio vs, Babyknight was a nice surprise and very enjoyable games.

I'm just imagining Idra losing........
Sentry/immortal all in is ridiculous at the moment with the Mothership core.... So we'll see. It COULD happen.
But then again, Ddoro has also been inactive for like 4 months. But he's protoss, and it's HoTS. It's a toss up...

Nevarrr, Titan too stronk! Anyway, Titan could have even had a decent shot at beating Stephano in WoL when he was in shape, I don't think HotS changes that, unless he hasn't been practicing at all which I fear.

I mean go swarm host as fast as you can if you sense any 2-base play from Protoss.

I really think Stephano can do it. He's probably the most innovative WoL Zerg and with his mindset he should pick up on HotS pretty quickly.
Ret looked pretty good in ZvP on his stream as well. He was killing Mana earlier with SH/Roach/Corruptor
Then there's Nestea who will either have the most brilliant shit we've seen yet or go full Zergbong and get 3-0'd

Sase did a gateway sentry all in against Idra on stream. Just Stalker/Sentry, no Immortals. He recalled when his 1st push looked like it wasn't going to kill Idra. Got some more energy on his Sentries, came back for part 2. Idra baited forcefields and managed to get a perfect surround, Sase recalled again. Came back for part 3, killed Idra.

Swarm host - Over seer - Corruptor is by far THE most Annoying composition to deal with as protoss, especially if you can contain on two bases sniping obvservers makes me want to pull all my hair out... or later on mix in vipers with blinding cloud and abducting collosi/tempests It's infuriating to deal with as a protoss
Zerg is actually really strong against protoss right now. We just haven't seen a good sample of games so far at all. I've lost maybe 1-2 of my last 20 ZvP games on ladder.

Thanks! I enjoy this stuff too.
No problem, it's so cool to watch, I will never forget the bo7 against ForGG in the nvidia hots cup from Take I believe it was. He was so confused and thought you cheated :D.
I have to give the advantage to Titan. Really strong player with no current focus on WoL (as far as I can tell), and he has always been strong in PvZ with meticulous and well thought-out builds.

i imagine idras mindset after the 3rd push ahha well recall works quite well and i did a sentry immortal all in today with mothership core and time warp makes it so easy unbelievable

I google translated some goodgame.ru threads this weekend and according to some of the guys on there TitaN's focus was on poker the past couple of weeks.
"Translated" quote of Titan himself:
After all I started training a week ago, in the near future I will make a few streams, but without komentov.Neznayu about you, but I personally need a break from the old man, and therefore disappear. Just from my poor results, I do not have enough finances, so periodically go back to poker.
The plans by the end of the summer without a break.

Ah ok. It's understandable, not much going in the tournament-scene at the moment. I really hope that he will give HotS a shot though. He never quite made is as big as I thought he would in WoL.
2 bases play is really good vs toss for my part. Swarmhost/queen/nydus play - Roach/Hydra timings or muta harassement are pretty strong. Zerg have to be more agresiv mid game and greedy no more.

I imagine Idras mindset was a shifting blend of reds hues pierced by blinding stabs of light...
But seriously <3 Idra and the recall shenanigans probably need to be looked into by Blizzard.
Nerchio may have had the upper hand in WoL, but with HotS and its faster paced, APM intensive multitask exhausting gameplay, Babyknight's strengths finally shine. Nerchio ain't worth jack to the handsome prodige (french accent). The sky is the limit for this young predator.

So he started training again at the start of February, and he doesn't earn enough money to play SC2 without going back to Poker once in a while and he needed a break in general (from his old man? :D). Some streams soon without commentary.
And I guess the last sentence means he'll play until summer without breaks. Unless he's referring to the past, having played from last summer on without breaks.
I wish I knew Russian.
Anyway, he looks happy on the picture they posted.

The google translation is not too bad, you got the gist of it pretty much. The last sentence is not about the past.

I love reading posts like this, thinking "yeah right, noob." Then glancing at the name and shout "fuck me, goswser imba!" It's good to see that at least one pro zerg is pwning it up in HoTS right now.

Now I don't feel so bad when I lose to Zergs. PvZ has always been, by far, my best matchup, and I've been struggling a bit lately in HOTS.
