Holy crap already? Damn. Guess they gotta move quickly if they want KR, EU, and NA completed in a couple months. Parting and soulkey are the easy favorites, but pvp is volatile enough that any of the protosses could make it out.

Simple, OGN is leaning more towards LoL since OCL is approaching the finals, second we all know what the viewer numbers was like for the past two seasons. As far as my source suggests GomTV and OGN will not be covering each other's event on piggyback broadcast any more.

Does that mean this season there is simply no English OGN stream while there is still a Korean OGN broadcast, or is there actually no OGN in either language this season?

That's at least something I can commend OGN on, they aren't afraid to get wild with their exclusive maps. At least get Bel'shir and Derelict out of there, they suck.

No GSL on OGN KR as well.
There goes any progress that sc2 made fanbase wise in Korea this year, Proleague on break for who knows how long if not forever and now no WCS KR on OGN.

Rick Rubin is kinda hard to listen to imo, but hes as letgit as Dre or Primo, you know that class of producer I suggest you put on a quality earpieces and have the song on loop. The production kinda give me the same vibe as Rock the Bell or 99 Problems Hell, I thought Yeezus disappointed big time but it grows immensely over time

What you didn't like that? I thought the opening was sick and was close to giving nerd chills Also with the album being produced by Dr Dre and the way Survival was dropped i think this album going put Eminem firmly back on top in the rap game
Wow most people in code s and winning wcs eu + their lol team hit like ro4 or smth in w/e that OGN thing is called. Looking really good for MVP these days.
GOM stream isn't looking much better though right now. not sure what i bought that yearly ticket for considering i can still only access the free stream AND it sucks.

They have been like that since October 2010 with like 10 mins of Kpop. I really develop an afternoon schedule revolving around that time mark for like 3 years lol
This build isn't actually that wonky. This is what Naniwa did vs Jaedong on Bel'shir and won with in DH (?). Though, Nani did a lot more damage with his DT's.

Seems on this map you can't take another 3rd if your nat is canon blocked as basically the next expo is in your opponent's base, zergs will veto this in priority I guess.

For all we know they might have just used google to find a pic of the map and used the first one that popped up withotu checking whether it's the same version, just wait until we actually see the map.

Yeah they copied YouTube due to the increased resolution you can view. Source quality can be ABOVE 1080p. A well known WoW streamer "Swifty" was streaming Hearthstone beta in 4k Resolution the other day. Twitch has basically finally adapted to the qualities better.

No, because this leads to confusion and bad practice regimens. I like the original version with islands more also. But Blizzard has somehow decided not to want islands on ladder, so they changed them. Gom should follow that then for the sake of the unified map pool.

Yeah, it's crazy, of course. But it makes sense if you're going to be so crazy greedy and get double Stargates rather than get the gates you usually wall off the early third's cannon with.
Why attack then...wait until 3-3 turtle like an old school terran then hit with archons and more storms and he probably wins that ez mode. Instead loses ez mode
Sloppy attack with 1500 minreals banked. With zealots coming in late he still did really well, had he had 10-15 extra zealots present when the attack started I think he wouldve won right there.

He needed 3-3 ground and maybe 1-1 air (maybe 2-2 ground would of been fine) to win straight up on first push. I would of thought he should of turtled for aslong as possible and just win. Archon at 2-2/3-3 are just great vs Hydra/Ling and then Voids just kill everything over charged. Zealots followed up for tanking and it's over.
When he pushed he didn't have the upgrade advantage in his favor and it was literally the right amount to die to mass Hydra.

Should of and would of in the same post, are you a native speaker? If so you should be ashamed!!
And I think that, with storms, upgrades don't matter that much. If he just has zealots as a meat shield, his void rays wont die off so easily and he has them for DPS the entire fight.

This is really blowing my mind away. How is perfect makro while harrassing which takes about 20 times more skill to pull off less entertaining than going for some funky a move style that requires your opponnent to mess up? I really fail to see how lots of action = good game, tbh I thought that whirlwind game was pretty bad.

Not really sure what you mean by this. But am I correct if your point is that the protoss turtle/deathball style requires 20 times more skill than the style pigbaby just did? Turtle style is probably the easiest one there is in SC2.

Your definition of turtle is the wrong one. Turtling is just that, sitting in base, defending, and doing nothing. If you macro, scout, harass at the same time, you certainly do not just turtle.

Pigbaby used some nice strats. But got scouted and denied in G1, G2 worked out for him. G3 almost worked out for him.
G1: DT (scouted) into double stargate and fast third was busted with Queen/Hydra/Porxy Nydus by Soulkey G2: Succesful cannon rush of the nat, Pigbaby had macro advantage and capitalized with a blink stalker/immortal/sentry attack which worked out well vs pure hydra G3: Muta/hydra took out Voidray/zealot with a few phoenix. Soulkey finished it off with hydra/roach

Well imo it's still turtling as you never really move out with your army except for some pooking, and I figured your definition was so insanely bad to play anyways that since that shouldn't even be viable there is no need to even have a word for that.
But I guess my starcraft brain just uses things differently here...

Do you even know what turtling means? It means exactly that; sit there and do nothing until max. If you are harassing all the time and poking here and there, you are not turtling.

Damn, zoo zoo bubble comerical was obnoxious after a while but this zombie game is really going to take the cake if it rolls for long enough. At least zoo zoo was short and had a sort of a catchy tune.

Oh, so I'm not just hallucinating late at night haha.
Ok I see a small problem in PartinG's build, he won't have AOE for a very long time and could die to a very aggressive timing. Of course he knows no such timing is going to hit him because of the early scouting he got, he also forced enough drones that any timing that could kill his 3rd is now delayed until he can get Colossus.
well played soulkey! even though if I had just listened to the cast I would probably thought Parting was outplaying SK so hard they werent even in the same league

Man i don't even know xD I thought that was perfect game then from Parting but clearly wasn't. Harrased Zerg 3rd, killed drones for free. Killed the 4th, had 3 bases from same time as the Zerg. Yet had 0 army when zerg just went mass roach hydra. Madness! Guess was just perfect injects and macro from Soulkey providing him with the perfect timing?

Yeah, 140 vs 95 army size at the main engagement + Blinding Cloud making so many Stalkers melee units.

Perfect macro/injects + quick hive and vipers, and PartinG was stuck with a giant gateway army + 2 collosi. ;/
Parting opened perfectly but i wish he had teched quicker. Soulkey's timing was absolutely perfect considering the terrible position he was in though. A high lvl game from both players.
On August 28 2013 20:13 bo1b wrote: In what stage of the game was soulkey behind?
Economically when he couldn't make a 4th and 'toss had been on 3 base for the same time zerg been on 3 base for. Then mega behind economically when Parting's 4th came up and the 3rd 4th got killed of Soulkeys

Thats the beauty of it, they allow for great zerg micro while making the most powerful a move unit in the game useless, best hots addition imo.

I do like vipers though. Parting just took too long to build a good army. People always forget that his PvZ isn't really good. It seems good but it's not all that good.

He drops pretty forcefields and does all kinds of crazy good moves, but his follow ups aren't very strong. Lacked tech pretty badly that game.

Lots of people here probably think sc2 is the best game ever and don't play.

Parting played really well but all his attacking and harassing should have been to stall Soulkey so he can get out higher tech units D: He had like.. two colossus? when Soulkey attacked, would have been better off going into storm/archon/immortal. Colossus are just fodder when you don't have enough HT to zone vipers. Also low count colossus is terrible ;x

But the game was never going to be economical. Soulkey traded some of partings units for a hatch he never mined from, then pushed against a massively inferior army in both tech and size.
I for one think its pretty cool seeing a protoss lose to a zerg with less bases. It's a nice turn of events tbh.

3 base saturated is actually the best saturation in terms of minerals and doesn't really get any better / more profitable (long blog posted by LaLush a long time ago) so... its completely irrelevant in terms of minerals and since he played roach/hydra, he didn't really need 8 gas for his push.

Well when the rest of the army consists of two ranged units that don't offer much micro besides some kiting and spreading I think adding a spellcaster will always add to the micro of that race, not saying abducting is hard, binding clouding perfectly is though and you have to be really careful vs blinkers and templar.

Just hear them casters, someone knew listening to the cast would think there's no way in this universe a parting could win since he played a perfect game and still lost, aren't you upset about that?
Soulkey played well and Parting played well at times but never getting +3 and not spending all his gas when he was going chargelot/archon/storm/voidray is o_o
Great storm dodging. Very nice aggression by Soulkey, it is funny how majority of Zerg players can't do this kind of thing but when Soulkey does it, it looks so freaking easy. :/

dont tell me it looks very balanced that zerg has strong trouble to win with 50-70 supply ahead 4 waves/fights in a row. Finally the 5th fight make this possible to win. I dont want to imagine what happens if both fights with 200/200. Super onesided and 2sec fight...
oh the balance whine calamity... haha, calm down guys, it's just a game.
today's matches have been really fun thus far. i've been greatly enjoying sc2 lately. maybe pros have levelled up again with WCS Season 2 finals and now this Code S?

The level has been rising ever since Kespa switched over tbh
this is not supposed to be an invitation for "KESPA" posts though

true, but i kinda feel like there has been a pretty big jump recently, and i fucking love it. and i really don't think there has to be any Kespa discussion here, if a bunch of highly skilled and committed players with great backing in terms of training/coaching and money hit the scene, it's obviously gonna increase the overall level of competition.

The level has been rising ever since. No matter what you think about balance, 2012's games were better than 2011's, 2013's are better than 2012's... I'm looking forward to 2020's games

2011 January code A still the greatest tournament in esports history tho.

So, do you want PvZ to end at the first zerg's maxout when the protoss has from 90 to 110 supply? And the compositions were pretty un-even, mass hydra and muta against archon storm e some voidrays. A-moving a ramp against your army counter should be painful, but not for one race on three

I don't think so :s
The best Code S games have been so awesome for several seasons in a row. Ever since Bogus+Rain entered GSL the quality graph has been very steep indeed. And I remember having the same feeling back around S4 2012 where suddenly the number of "cannon fodder players" was near non-existant. All the seasons ever since has had this aura of being the most stacked yet :D

In our quest for finally getting a protoss champ in Korea, we really need PartinG to go through.

Technically, this should have been voted "one of the best games this season". Since it was the only game this season.

I was rewatching WCS yesterday... Watch Taeja vs Inno game 1. Taeja starts to get back in the game. Artosis: "Taeja is starting to come back in the game". 15 seconds afterwards Taeja gg's.

Twitch is to blame! They made medium worse than 480p but better than 360p. Tweeted them about it yesterday.
Twitch Support @TwitchTVSupport 13h @DJHelium 480p was out all night carousing, actin a fool, so we had to put it in The Chokey. Medium is a high quality 360p now, think 360p+.

It's twitch, but you can still watch free HQ from GOM site.

Damn, I'm gone for 1 min and Swagger somehow manages to throw away the game, worst is everyone is saying how bad it is makes me even more eager to see it, but I can't because I don't have a GOM pass.

I think you can since it's the first game of the series? Might not apply in group stage though.

He stopped probes for too long (he had 3 probes at his nat while PB saturated his), also he was at 30-40 supply the whole time I guess he just figured he was dead.

I don't know why Pigbaby is so afraid in this scenario. Honestly he should've tried to play standard and let Parting get overconfident (or at least proxy his gateways in the natural).

That leaves Polt, Innovation, Mari=u, MMA. We can eliminate MMA as he is already on Acer, Scarlett also said the new player will be playing in GSTL. That probably eliminates Polt as he is studying in Texas. So we are left with Innovation and Maru. The profile in the blacked out picture provided by Acer looks a lot more like Innovation than it does like Maru.
Wow, I really think it is going to be Acer. Innovation!
imagine, Acer and Axiom want to join Proleague.
It would make sense.
Scarlett said the GSTL season starts in October. Proleague is a very big commitment for a foreign team with WCS at the same time.
GSTL starts in october? link source? that leaves them like 2 months to do a full season when the other season was 4-5 months long.
Scarlett @AcerScarlett Also won't be playing any tournament games until GSTL in October >< Sorry !
I was expecting them to run another GSTL season before the merge, but I guess not ;o
could also just mean she's not going to play GSTL until october, but GSTL will start sooner.
scarlett pls clarify.
GSTL should start sooner but I will miss 1 or 2 matches ( don't arrive until maybe october 6 back to Korea)

Not really, its much more varied now, and PartinG could have done a whole number of different follow ups but, when you are that far ahead, why drag the game out needlessly? What he did only worked because PB got himself into such a bad position in the first place.

A lot of things still work if you can catch your opponent off guard. Although things like reapers, photon overcharge, queen range, OL speed have make some of these strategies easier to hold. You still see 11-11s, bane bust, cannon rush. Hell, Bomber won one of his games with an old school stim marine timing.
On August 29 2013 06:17 aRyuujin wrote: did this really surprise anyone
Yes actually. Didn't expect these sets to all go 3 games each :O
Well Soulkey 2 - 0 Parting, but otherwise yeah, same sentiment. I had a feeling Swagger or Pigbaby would 1-2 Parting, but I didn't expect Pigbaby to get 1 vs Soulkey, or for Parting to go to 3 on both PvPs.
But in terms of surprise it's like...when mythbusters folds paper in half 8 times. You're a little impressed, but it changes nothing in your life. And you know they're going to fold it more times later on.
To be honest, not really surprising. Without their TV contract with OGN, they are back to where it used to. Except instead of five to ten GSL's a year, we now get one or two. Hopefully if this continues, WCS Korea is fully given to OGN next year so there can be three OSL/WCS Korea's and GOM just goes back to doing their four-to-five $50,000 tournaments a year. If the trend continues, we would have two OSL's next year and ONE GSL. I would welcome back paid VOD's and the old system if we could just give OGN/OSL the WCS Korea tournaments and allow GSL to stand alone as its own entity.
Instead of three Korean tournaments a year, we could get seven or eight.
I prefer the integration of the Korean leagues with WCS. It in a sense unifies the scene while still giving the organizers some independence. If any tourney could sustain itself outside of WCS though, its GSL.
Korean casters said the DT opening in game 2 (SK v. PB) was a macro build to keep Z at home.. It looked that way to me, too. I guess Tastosis is slow at "metagame".

I really hope this (or something similar) happens. The current system in Korea is the only thing I don't really like about WCS.
