Arg I just noticed I had Rain vs Trap and Parting vs Jjakji by accident...oh well, only 1 player will get a benefit from these matches anyways, shouldn't make a big difference.
Rain SKT1, 65293/300000, started with 2250 WCS points, 21.7643% Rain SKT1 starts in the round of 4 in Korea Placement facing Trap Rain SKT1 loses this match 45.63% of the time, which decreases Rain SKT1's chances to 0.00%. jjakji, 1557/300000, started with 25 WCS points, 0.519% jjakji starts in the round of 4 in Korea Placement facing PartinG jjakji loses this match 55.26% of the time, which decreases jjakji's chances to 0.00%. jjakji wins this match 44.74% of the time, which increases jjakji's chances to 1.16%.
Trap, 4799/300000, started with 450 WCS points, 1.59967% Trap starts in the round of 4 in Korea Placement facing Rain SKT1 Trap loses this match 50.20% of the time, which decreases Trap's chances to 0.00%. Trap wins this match 49.80% of the time, which increases Trap's chances to 3.21%.
All 4 players need to win tonight to have any chance!
I wouldn't mind any of these guys except Trap, but I have to root for my boy Rain. Favorite player. He must win! Artosis says he must win to get to Blizzcon which I find odd since he got second last season in Korea. That said, GO RAIN!

if someone asked you " name 5 good Korean Zerg players " probably 1 in 100 people would say Roro, he won the last WoL season where everyone had already stopped caring about WoL. In HotS he's done poorly in gsl and gone to 0 foreign tournaments. Also he lost his position as khan's ace to jangbang.
^ yesss the return of that pic. but seriously, sniper was like a drg clone , very similar playstyles. drg didn't slump, he just stepped back and raised a minion.

oh no way. He has the distinction of at least winning the last WoL championship AND being the first Kespa winner.
I dont think so. People didnt even watch that final because of IEM playing HoTS. Everyone knows Sniper cause they use him as the embodiment of pure evil

who retired T_T... I still don't get why -_-
//edit: Bisu's retirement, I kinda get since he really did not do too hot and seemed not to enjoy the game, but Jangbi looked so damn good in a couple of his games.

actually he makes a good point. I watched the final WoL and watched Sniper win GSL. Ironically, those were some of the one GSL finals I've watched live and in both, Symbol lost rofl.

Mvp is 100%.
97% and worsening since revival got a charity seed into iem nyc, well he has to win it to pass mvp on points but still.

It's not a 0 chance.
very few people are 100%, even MMA and probably a couple people above him. Those calculations use Aligulac to determine winners, and we know things don't always go that way. At this point, there are fewer spots remaining and fewer variables, so you can just look at the points available and the players remaining, and do it yourself.
You'll find outcomes that can eliminate almost everyone except probably the top 4.

I love the way the other tournaments influence WCS and the points for who gets into Blizzcon. Reminds me of the NFL playoffs to a degree. Who wins what and who places where actually matters. Love it. Gogo Rain!

I think he actually got some great EMPs off in that original push, even though it was move commanding into Rain's army. Edit: Jjakji's playing pretty well, I'm surprised. Also, Rain's play seems less perfect, so sad to watch

Its such a coin flippy stupid thing to do when you're even or even ahead. Only Innovation and Mvp can make it work.
IMO, Jjajki is one of the most consistently awful Terrans in coin-flip situations. I don't even remember the last time he's won a base race.
GSL November, Ro32 against Supernova. Both of them went for proxy marauders, and a crazy basetrade / planetary fortress rush ensued. Jjakji won and went on to win that season's GSL.

Good god, i see this all the time. How does protoss not build observers? It's like an auto loss vs terran. Almost every protoss loss is because they didn't build observers lol, its so stupid.

That's in WOL. In HotS superlate game Terran does not have an adequate answer to tempests, colossi and templars slow pushing under cannons.

Jjakji did waste about 12 scans through the game to kill all of the obs.

I don't think it would have mattered. The scans/vikings would have killed the obs before half the ghosts died. Jjakji did not have his ghosts clumped.
You can't take the fight if the scan goes down at the third between the base and the protoss army or the obs goes bye bye.

Yeah. that almost never happens nowadays...That happened the first 2 weeks of HOTS.
Even with like 3 obs. Those colossi were dead in like 4 seconds. After that, its just shift clicking the obs and watching them fall. Select sets of 4 vikings, target, all dead in under 2 seconds.

Observer snipes are as old as BW, but became rather easy in WoL. Thats why Protoss got the Oracle, its detection range is so insane, that nothing can ever snipe it. I miss the Observer sight range upgrade from BW as well though. But you either get an Oracle or use a ton of Cannons against lategame terran.

ravens? I'll tell you what's wrong with them
1) they get feedbacked 2) you can put down pdds, that only delays the push, sooner or later you run out of energy 3) you cant push with pdds because you can't get the ravens close enough without getting shot by cannons
I think one of the issues with Rain that game was that almost all of his HTs were at the 3rd and they got picked off so quick. 2 or 3 with the main army would have made them much harder to snipe.

Flash hasn't lived up to expectations, SKT's Protosses haven't been as dominant as usually lately, and CJ, Khan and Jinair have been quiet.

the thing is, Rain never got much chance to remake another obs, he needed more colossus as he was preparing to add colossus into his composition. it was either colossus/obs for him and that obs snipe was too crucial and just not enough time for rain to get another obs anyway

That strat is so dated. As soon as he saw HTs the ghost academy goes down. Maybe the strat should lead into a 2 base storm timing with 1 collosus...

He was training in Korea to be their Ace in the SPL playoffs. That worked out well, right?
It's not SKT's fault. They got Innovation'd. In fact, of all the teams in the playoffs, SKT put up the best fight against SKT. KT got wrecked 4-1 twice by STX, and Woongjin Stars lost 4-2 as well. SKT at least forced two ace matches.
Rain But props to Jjakji, his play in third game was impressive, despite the usual stellar Rain style defense. Too bad Rain didn't have observers with him at this moment.

Yes, thess are my thoughts as well.
Observers have always be a key unit in TvP, and in the very late game lots of vikings + lots of scans = no more obs = clock ghosts pretty much unbeatable.
I remember this game with Taeja slaying 25 obs in a game, where I was like "who the fuck said P were imba in ultra late game vs T ?" Or even back to WoL with this very long and epic game between Byun and HerO on Daybreak.
But in the few following weeks after the Taeja win over Rain this summer, terrans were still refusing to enter the late game and were going lazy by doing their SCV pull everytime. Good that a player like Jjakji are able to show such a beautiful play instead.

Because there is a difference between late game and ultra late game? There is a huge timing when P has both AoE and near max and with bank so they can attack the 4th of terran.

Yes I guess so. But this Jjakji map control was so well kept this game vs Rain that I feel this is how terrans should play TvP. At least more than SCV pull. Edit: but this is also because of Rain style. Trap shows that Jjakji map control strategy to get to an ultimate terran comp doesn't work if the terran is not turtling like Rain.

In WoL I was more like, why are Tosses not using the Cannon Storm combination like Hasu does, which owns Marauder Ghost Viking. Then Rain did it and I thought now it will take off. Then Terrans fell apart and didn't even try lategame anymore. And Protoss forgot about the threat of cloaked Ghosts. It is rather funny how in Sc2 some really old strategies can come back, because people forgot the counters to it.
I really hoped to see Reaper Marauder Ghost Viking at some point in WoL. (Reapers replacing Marauders and Marines as supply efficient building an Zealot killers). Really sad it will never happen aside from the few Thorzain games.
For now ... you don't want observer speed or position them well ? Thank god its Hots. Invest in a Stargate and get an Oracle that detects the whole battle field from home. You are also closer to Tempests, to really ruin the Terrans day.

Using the all army hotkey really hurt Trap. If he had all those HT in their original positions he could have stormed a lot more, instead they ended up in lala land with 4 observers

Wow, I thought jjakji would win that game for sure.
I guess he didn't realize the true strength of the attack and left his units out on the map for too long? And he should have at least sniped Trap's third there.

Quite true, jjakji is quite bad at responding to harass and also at remaking the lost scvs, I remember a few games he lost because of this, I think one of them was against Parting on Antiga, he just kept winning and winning battles but got worn out.
Watching VoD now. In Jjakji vs Rain game 1, Tastosis totally missed the sick medivac-ghost micro by jjakji, loading up the ghosts after the first EMPs to avoid getting killed after. When Rain's HT that was placed further back comes forward jjakji drops the ghosts agian and EMP that HT as well.

we have already a Korean robot for blizzcon. No need to add Rain to Innovation, I'm glad boring players are experiencing upsets. good for the viewers, good for the game.
If you keep in mind how much chances of going to blizzcon hang on that 5th place, it's kind of sad that it's Bo3 only. especially since at least I am overfed with WCS content and not really caring for regional finals anymore, I'm looking forward to the global final and of course blizzcon.

yeah. The current system just sucks. If they accept having inferior players at the final for giving each region their representives, that it´s somehow understandable and might create some nice stories. But to have 2nd tier korean players at blizzcon besides the top tier ones, is just stupid.
how is it stupid to have the best of the best at blizzcon. if the "2nd tier Koreans" are still better than the foreigners, it actually makes a lot of sense.

We need CombatEx at Blizzcon. That son of a bitch was amusing as fuck
Just watched the VODs. Really great games today. Was rooting for jjakji, but seeing Trap's performance, I gotta say he's becoming one of my favorite players.
It's really fun to see an aggressive, funky-build Protoss player with great micro. Like the MC of old. Sure beats the boring-as-fuck style Rain employs.
Trap is really close to making to my favorite players tag.

Atleast the chance for a foreigner at blizzcon was greatly improved

I second this! Personalities are good for the game.
