Hopefully epic enough to warrant closing Pandemona's thread!
Yo in future, don't wait this long to post a thread for something that is ok to post spoiler free after a rebroadcast that finished 2 hours ago as well. I only just got in from work the reason i posted it now. Not that i don't appreciate help with people making LRs as i was literally doing everything but it's nice to know if you want to do it or not.

I'm still half a day earlier than the average LR thread this Proleague round.

I remember that one time I did LR for a thread (it was a shit LR), and definitely felt some passion draining away. Perhaps Pande just eats the passion of everyone here to sustain himself?
I would make LR threads theoretically (it's really not hard) but i almost never can guarantee that i will be able to update it live. So there's that.. :/

Yeah. he just bides his time. If he keeps up his posting the way it is and slowly drains all of us, he'll eventually have all the passion. Of course, there are more eSports than just SC2 (I know that's hard to believe), so he'll just keep moving on, and wait for the cycle to begin anew. ^__^

Pandemona, Grand Reaper of Passion
Scary thought. And whenever the passion in one eSports runs dry, he plants the seed for the creation of a new one. That's why Kart Rider is a thing in Korea.

Maybe he coded Shellbot as a means of displacing his unwanted passion (too much is dangerous), or maybe Shellbot-levels of passion are his vision for a glorious, Utopian society.

And Lorning had to be disposed off because his LR passion was threatening Pandemona's might. Prime served as a distraction to the masses.
So yeah, if I happen to disappear for undiscernable reasons tomorrow, it was probably Pande, emergency recommendation polls in the OP.
He'll just feed off those polls, too. One day, all will be empty but him, and as the only one in the hollowness, realize that passion alone won't sustain him.

I am not sure. Inno was there. Of course, Dark and soO are another level. So we would maybe lose two matches. So an ace match, and I do not think, we would not be able to beat Dark once.

Inno was the only one from their top lineup played that night.. It'd be like beating KT with TY/Leenock/Jjakji and Trust. It just isn't that impressive
I'm not saying Jin Air couldn't beat SKT, but it remains to be seen!
I've recently had some issues with the SPL stream on Twitch with Chrome. It never loads, just the spinning circle forever. Chat works fine and the stream works with IE.
I cleared my cache and stuff yesterday, which got it working again, but today it's back to spinning. I don't want to delete the cache every day. Anyone know what might be the problem?

Am I the only one who can barely watch Proleague because it's laggy as fuck? Every other stream on Twitch works fine, but the Proleague stream just doesn't load whatsoever. Same with the Azubu stream: Every other stream works, but the Proleague one keeps lagging.

I think Cure is a solid pick here. He's playing quite well, although Rogue is an okay person to throw out too. Stats is the easiest that Cure/Rogue will get to snipe IMO compared to TY/Zest while if you put Maru out now you're basically saying he'll 3-kill/4-kill or you will lose anyway.
Oh yeah Symbol left thats why i not seen him :3 Rogue would be a shout but he is still not himself so i was thinking more of a guy who isn't Maru and Trap xd

Was a safe blink/robo opening into almost all in DT drop (all in because super super late upgrades and no higher tech than blink). Not a fan, the DT drop has to do gigantic damage for that to work out, otherwise Maru just spams MMMM as he did and Stats won't ever have an army to contest it.

I believe in Zest, but if Maru beats Zest the set is over and if Zest beats Maru there's still a chance for Jin Air to win if they have a sniper for Zest. I think Maru vs Zest is 50-50, therefor if Maru wins here Jin Air are pretty solidly favored (lets say 50-50 with a 90-10 win on one side and a 25-75 loss on the other side)

Was a bit weird, he did add 7 gates before the third but I don't think there was ever any intention of it turning into an attack. It was weird and, imo, really not ideal.

aren't individual maps called sets?
That makes no sense to me but I guess it might be true ;_;
Look at Tennis. A match consists of sets which consists of games. So the teams are having a match while the players are playing games/sets.
Which makes sense, but why call a Bo1 a set when a set is a collection of things? To me a set (collection of matches between players under teams) consists of matches (1v1s between players).

a set is a group, using it to mean one game is probably a korean mistranslation of english that became standard there. it doesn't really matter, we still know what it means, but it is a mistake

Excellent defense here from Maru this game, TY put him under so much pressure, but Maru manage to hold on enough and expand well and keep in the game. Then he picks up a good engagement and spirals :D

There were a lot of very strategic moves there. The assault by TY that forced Maru to get behind originally and the insane base-trade were both intensely strategic, they just weren't as slow and calculated as WoL. So I like this a lot, yeah.
Does anyone else lead with two or three units like Maru does? Drawing tank fire like that is nuts. I've always wondered why Zerg never does that with Roaches or even lings

TY fucked up royally by over extending and trying to fight him in his base. If he had just gotten out of there with at least half of his army, he would have had a chance to win. Instead he sacked his whole army for some factories

I'm torn on the tankivac. The games are exciting but also a bit silly at times

So how do you win vs Liberators? I don't really follow the scene anymore but the few games I've seen with mass liberators they just win the fight like 80 supply ahead everytime

Hope this match is a lesson for any zerg players try to refuse Ultralisk's advantage and go straight into brood lord tech.... The timer still exist but because player refuse to.... I saw this situation happen alot in Happy's stream and almost zerg players rage quit.

He had no timing with ultras. Did you not see the giant wall Maru made between his 3rd and 4th? That's the death of all ultras.

It's mean he spented alot resource for that.Maybe the timing not lies in ultra,he must attack earlier just like Artur did a 3 base all in roach + ravager vs Happy.Hope this is the last time i saw a match where players just turtle and mass air.....

Not enough corruptors and the few he had were pretty damn clumped
You know what.... IMO he need a equal vipers count compare with liberator count..... It doesn't matter because zerg can tech switch very fast so just focus on pure air and switch back to ground when terran take one billion years to do the same... Happy is literally a god ... who save terran late gem....

It's just because the map has the shortest rush distance since like WoL beta.

This is one of the strongest build in PvP, man. Immortal counters pylons and stalkers.
Whilst i agree it is strong, not when you scout it is not. He defended very silly vs it. He denied the first stalkers fine, he pushed the away. Then instead of starting to work on his defense/stopping the robo bay he went for a double pylon on top of it.
Then he moves 3 stalkers half way around the map to go to Zest base to die cuz he didn't even look at them, if he had that with the original push he might have been fine due to the phoenix was out to lift up the immortal.

If nydus is vulnerable while it's being built, then Zest can just pull probes and prevent the nydus from ever coming up.

You wouldn't even be able to transfuse it if 2 Immortals were there to hit it with few units...

Which is good and logical. I mean, if I'm that daft of a player to plant a nydus/pylon/whatever right there where the opponent can see it, he should be able to stop it right away.
I wish just for once KT could beat Jin Air in all-kill. Like, when it matters. Maybe KT would have won if they beat CJ and didn't have an extra match yesterday, but whatever.
So since there are only 3 rounds, I guess when SKT wins on Saturday they're already in the final playoffs?

I agree. But with units. That's why I think the best way to fix the nydus is to add it armor and remove the invulnerability. This way you can kill it with actual units but you cannot kill it with workers

And this.
The Nydus sealed the deal but Rogue should have won after those baneling bombs. This is not the game to use for complaining about Nydus imo

It was the Ovie drop that did it tho
Zest had a possibility at least try to recover but once nydus hit, it was all over
Every form of Nydus would have killed in that very moment. Rogue was double the army supply with some high energy queens, while all Zest had was 2 popping Immortals, 3 adepts, 1 stalker, 1-2 zelots, a msc and 5 phoenix. Against arround 10+5 (1st and 2nd wave) and arround 8-10 queens + lings. Even if it was the hots Nydus and Rogue would have set it infront of Zests 3rd or even outside of it... no chance to hold that for zest for long. Morph 1-2 Ravanger and get save the ramp to the main up and win it.

Yep. The only cheese in this game that you see like 1000 miles away and still can't do zip about it. I like cheese, as my user name suggests, but man where is the skill component to this cheese, if you can plant the nydus right in the middle of opponents vision and he can do nothing to stop it?

Which is good and logical. I mean, if I'm that daft of a player to plant a nydus/pylon/whatever right there where the opponent can see it, he should be able to stop it right away.
I agree. But with units. That's why I think the best way to fix the nydus is to add it armor and remove the invulnerability. This way you can kill it with actual units but you cannot kill it with workers
As long as everyone agrees that it's dumb it's completely invulnerable.

Why does it matter whether units or workers are being used? Should pylons/photon cannons also have armor, so that Zergs and Terran can only stop related abuse/cheese with units?

You are comparing Pylons/Photons/Bunkers with Nydus that is tier 2 and needs a big investment? Sorry, but you are just showing your incredible bias and really can't be taken seriously after this comment.

Possibly. SKT is definitely the team to beat. Not sure what's so lolworthy about KT's performance though. They had to prepare for 2 matches in 2 days and ended up 1 map shy of winning both.
I mean really, this was a step up from how KT did against Jin Air last year.

Yeah, most probably, Jin Air will be second. I am just laughing about the reasoning ... when you lost everything, you can still say, it is good that the team you hate won, because therefore, they can lose the next time. And if we win against SKT, he can say, it is good, because that more he will enjoy our loss next time :-)

2+ weeks? When does the next round start? I guess at least a month break? :-(
Dunno. I think for the last two years the next round of PL always started ~2 1/2 weeks after the playoff finals for the previous round. That would be around mid April (the 11th or something). And his GSL group was pushed back by a week.

It was an exaggerated comparison, just to show how nonsensical the idea behind an invulnerable or high armor Nydus is. Rouge was able to pull of nice harass and he would probably have won regardless of the follow up. But man, planting a Nydus right there where Zest can see it right away but can do nothing about it. It goes against the logic of cheese, that if you scout it, you have a much higher chance of stopping it. Invulnerable Nydus is the worst example of defenders disadvantage in this game.

Also correct me if I'm wrong in this but... Zest wasn't that much pressured to slow down the Zerg's economy, because it wasn't a 3 hatch before pool. He could afford another round of patrolling before heading to Rogue's base. Right?

Because this requires bigger investment than pylons/cannons and hits later. I don't say make it invulnerable against workers, but I don't like the state of pre-LotV nydus, where you was just smiling and killing it with probe hit squad. That's just bad.

That doesn't sound very realistic because the season started in February though. Even with 3 rounds, if they take breaks of that length, they'll be done at around Blizzcon. With round 3. That's really late and not very good for the teams and players.

Which is exactly why I said his pylon/building placement was shite. This is easy to prevent(for a pro) if you have better vision of your base.

Even without perfect vision, overlords floated into his mineral lines unhindered at that point in the game. Why would that happen on this level of play if not for a drop? So just pull the damn probes.

For scouting, 2 robos just went down - wouldn't have been an odd scout timing
But yeah he was slow to react. Nydus followup looks stupid but it's the bane drops that made it impossible to stop. Zest made mistakes, but I'm still not happy with PvZ. Protoss has essentially one build, zerg only need to figure out that they're not being all-inned and can then dictate exactly how they want the game to go.
Not a balance concern though. Just makes the matchup really boring from a protoss perspective.

I agree with saving sOs for later, but what is they start with Dark or soO? Then, it would be a very tough match. Maybe, we should start with Cure? And maybe, with some miracle, he could beat a Zerg ...

Indeed. I think we are the only one who can possibly defeat SKT.
It seems that SKT < KT < JAGW < SKT. Which would be a nice balance but SKT is OP these days... Kespa should call David Kim.
We'll probably 0-4.
Maru can beat anyone from SKT except the two Zergs. Who could beat the two Zergs? Actually, I am not sure. sOs could beat anyone, but he could also lose to anyone. Rogue used to be good, ZvZ is a bit random, but Dark will have the training from SSL ... well, we will probably not find any weapon against these two Zergs :-(

I haven't been watching my "3 hours" a week, but I wonder if we can get some map specialists for the Dark/soO combo.
Well, if nothing else, it will be interesting to see who plays on Saturday, whether it's Trap or Cure. I'd personally favor Cure over Trap against most players SKT could field (actually the only time I'd send out Trap over Cure is probably vs INnoVation). I hope the match will be at least half as good as the one today, otherwise I'll get even more annoyed that KT lost.

Trap used to be very good at it, but it's now LotV, and his style of PvZ isn't really a thing anymore. Similarly, Cure always did well against Dark in HotS and poorly against soO.
So many things have changed in LotV, who knows how they match up now?
There's some matchups I think Jin Air should definitely avoid if they can, like Cure vs INnoVation. But it's hard to judge overall. Classic has been in bad shape recently, otherwise he'd be an excellent counter to pretty much anyone on Jin Air.

Either way I'm not that worried. As long as we make it to the finals this coming year, we'l be fine.
I think the biggest issue for SKT might actually be Rogue. He has really upped his play (esp. against Terran) since his exit from GSL (well, so has Maru) and he's got good enough ZvZ to beat Dark and soO.

That being said, it's still coach iloveoov that we need to worry about - his crazy X-factor. He's also stated that his personal pet project is to get soO to win a big championship.

He will teach Zoun a few dirty all-ins nobody knows yet and have him all-kill Jin Air. Just to mess with everyone.

I bet you he already knows every build order, and has figured out mech but didn't bother to tell it to anyone for his surprise comeback run where he wins a GSL undefeated.

He has actually figured out every matchup, he is just working on his mechanics with each race atm so his GSL winning undefeated run as a Random player will be easier.

After all those crushing 2nd places last year I think another 2nd place will break us.
TY vs Maru was great. TY must have the highest number of 5 and 4 star games since lotv release.

I doubt it. You got broken last year after taking 2nd place 3 rounds in a row, then bounced back just in time to get 2nd place overall in the Grand Finals. Don't think a 2nd place this round would shatter the team.
Although maybe then KT could finally beat Jin Air in all-kill. 0-5 right now

Hm is that a biased opinion or an actual legit one? :D I guess i will watch them no matter what though, JinAir vs KT has to be good i think^^

For people who forget that Maru is actually the bane of KT Rolster and only focus on that one time sOs reverse all-killed them.
Maru averages 2.6 kills against KT. The highest for KT vs Jin Air is Zest at 1.2 kills per match. It's hilariously one-sided.
Maru is simply a beast, i am still sad that he had to play vs Zest in code a. Maru is always one of the best terrans, i think he might be the best terran ever tbh

Maru destroying Stats and Rogue's baneling drops - that is biased :-)
Maru vs. TY was excellent.
In fact, I even liked Maru vs. Leenock an extremely long macro game, where Leenock had 3k-4k both minerals and gas in bank and a maxed out army, bases all over the map, while Maru was struggling with money and had just a few mining bases ... but with lots and lots of patience and harrass, he was able to win, although it did not look like possible in the middle of the match.
But I still liked mostly the final Rogue vs. Zest ace match ... so unexpected, so brilliant :-)
Sucks to say but Rogue killed Zest with sick style. Also UGH once again at invulnerable Nydus. If it would at least get canceled once you kill the Overlord..
Although it seems counter intuitive Phoenix openings are not actually good against Overlord drops at all. You don't have enough Phoenix out at that timing to kill the Overlords quickly enough, and the investment into air units means you have next to nothing on the ground and need your wall to defend. If the zerg units get inside your base you are in big trouble. You also can't be everywhere with the Phoenix at once, those drops can come in from so many angles, and patrolling the outskirts of your base is a complete waste of the Phoenixes if drops are not coming and can cause you to fall behind economically or fail to scout out some other impending all-in. It might actually make sense to open with a Void Ray first which hangs around to clear out nearby Overlords and stray lings while rallying the followup Phoenixes directly to the Zerg base to see what is going on. The Void Ray is also a lot more useful against other ground based aggression.
Serious question: Haven't I just recently seen a nydus being completely surrounded with units not being able to release any units? Wouldn't this have been a thing? Can warping pylons reduce the surface area on the nydus units are needed for?

Honestly, I find the behavior of units exiting the nydus inconsistent. The game you're referring to is probably Solar vs Forte in Proleague, where Forte got a full surround with workers and no units came out of the nydus. But I've also seen units leave a nydus despite a full surround, and units jump out of the nydus over a building. Because reasons.
Maru fanboy right here! Maru is most excited pro gamer to watch. I think Maru got little bit tired after 2 very hard games. Maru for presidents for his multitasking and micro.
Ty vs Maru must be biggest throw of PL this year. Ty just had to load all of the siege tanks into the main and clump them out for the guaranteed win. He had like 30 seconds to do that and didn't have to do anything else (but prepare for a potential counterbase (?)) over that period.
Instead he had the tanks spread way too thinly so Ty only had like 2 tanks attacking as Maru stimmed up the ramp.

Honestly, that's not how Terrans play. The usual Terran goes tunnel vision against anyone - usually Protoss. "I will sacrifice my whole army for your Nexus, BWAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA" and then the Terran dies with superior economy but no army. This was kinda similar.

Yeah, it was a huge throw. But I'm adamant Dear vs Maru was worse. aLive vs Stats the day before was also worse in my book.

Dear vs Maru easily #1. That was god awful. I feel like even someone at my level wouldn't try do what Dear did.
