It's really sad to see a Starcraft 2 Major featuring 100k price pool, no news media in the entire world will make a story about someone winning 25k USD, this will just be overlooked by the media and in turn the potential exposure demolished.
I love SC2, it's one of the best competitive games and eSport, but Blizzard really need to get a fucking clue about what is expected of a high competitive game and eSport in 2017, 25k for the winner is nothing, the pros could probably earn more from streaming.
For instance the 3rd and 4th place finisher could stay home and ask for donations while streaming and earn more.

You... do realise that the prizes for sc2 tournaments have always been more or less on the same level as this one right? Then count in the fact that SC2 was much bigger than what it is now, we should be happy that we can still have as big prizes as this one in 2017.

throwback to 2012, roughly around the peak of sc2 i guess, when DH valencia had a 20k total prize pool lul

Also side note, the biggest non-WeSG tournament in CS:GO offers a prize pool of 1,000,000 with 500,000 going to the winner. Blizzcon offers 200,000 to the winner, which means that the winner will make at least twice as much as a player on the winning CS:GO tournament (only the five players playing get the prize money). And yes, there are more higher paying tournaments in CS:GO, but at the highest level, top SC2 players do receive roughly equivalent amounts in prizes.

You can't cheer for his opponent. The French are already at an all time high after ToD won the caster tournament over YoGo, can't give them the satisfaction.

So basically you are forced to sit and watch the ENTIRE day if you want to catch one game, specifically?
In Dota a game can last from 15 minutes to 3 hours ( 3hours is the longest game of professional dota2), and they can still schedule properly during majors, same with CS.
A CS game CAN last for maximum 90 minutes, but it CAN end in 30, they still manage to schedule properly.
In League of legends a game can last from 20 min to 60 minutes, they still manage to schedule properly.
Yeah, a SC2 game can last a long time or a short time, the same as ALL OTHER ESPORTS.
On July 13 2017 23:46 PuroYO wrote: So basically you are forced to sit and watch the ENTIRE day if you want to catch one game, specifically?
No, you go through all the community streams and check if one of them has the game you're looking for.
So I will have to check all the community streams every... 30 minutes-ish to find that one player I want to watch, for one game, during an entire day?
The OFFICIAL schedule on Blizzard's site doesn't state anything, BaseTradeTV doesn't state which games are coming up or what the score are during break or between games, nor do they have a timer for next game, it's really difficult in SC2 to find the games you want to watch.
I just expected a little more from their Major event, at least a standard like all other games have during their majors, proper information about games so that anyone can watch what they want, instead I won't watch anything since I am only interested in watching "my player", but I can't find his games.

Except none the games you brought up have open brackets with 64 different teams in 16 different groups played in 1 day. Dota's majors as an example are speficially genuinely fucking idiotic as they are top tier premier tournaments with invites only that are scheduled and prepared for MONTHS before the events actually happen. Dreamhack, on the other hand, is a community event, the biggest LAN on earth with game tournaments done esentially as a bonus.
At past ASUS ROG touraments in Helsinki were assigned each community stream to a single group, and when two streams shared the group, they covered different matches (other stream had the first pick). It was a hassle to organize but surely paid off for the viewers.

That would be 100 times better than just random games with no schedule what so ever.
Ok, this is not worth my time if I have to simply GUESS whether the game will be streamed or not, and when it will be played or not. I hope Snute wins though, I'll check the vods when the tourney is over. GL HF

You have like 20 other amazing player to watch, Snute and PtiDrogo are gonna get stream time later in the tournament, it's a good opportunity to watch other less known player.

I'd say that killing the first, and sometimes a second OL is better than most Adept openers. You totally deny scouting, for one thing.

This is what the first stage of these huge tournaments are like - there is literally no way to do it any better, no other esport could do it any better. The ro16 onwards is fully scheduled ahead of time.

Asking for a draw in a losing situation - that might even be a punishable act under the WCS rules. Also, using a pause for a discussion in the middle of a game without a technical difficulty, that might be another offense.

There are rules to WCS and they need to be enforced. And what Bly did was... questionable. But probably won't have consequences.

Well, I did not propose any drastic measures to be taken, just that IF Bly did break the rules, the tournament organizer acknowledges it. No need to go ballistic, but explaining the rules and giving a verbal warning should be enough, if they wish to avoid that kind of situations in the future.

This bracket is very similar to last time's Serral on top plays drogo again Ro8 Elazer can meet Serra Ro4. Then Neeb can plays Probe then repeat of Sweden plays MajOr Ro8, Kelazhur Ro4. XD
Drogo vs True and Scarlett vs Snute are the hard one to predict. Won't be surprised if 1 or may be eve 2 of my predictions for the other 6 matches go wrong, but no more than that.

Im pretty sure brackets are wrong all people who advance first get a seed aka serral first me second nerchio 3rd diego 4th etc probe is 8th but according to this bracket 8th seed is ln bottlm bracket when he should be top cause 1 shoild play 8th in semifnals and 7 should play 2 in semis and 3rd should be bottom and 4th top whocj is wrong also

Special, Kelazhur, Elazer, Neeb, Nerchio, and Serral advance Hope Stephano gets the upset
I hope Drogo advances, but its hard to call. This map pool serves True's playstyle quite well (apart for Proxima), so Drogo will have a hard time in a BO5. Don't know how to call this one. Scarlett vs Snute is an interesting one, as Snute rarely plays aggressive but Scarlett can mix it up, and they play different metas which will be fun.
For the others, its my bet as well, but I guess there will be at least one upset there.
The better day will be Saturday, as if these are the ones to advance, there will be no series which is easy to call. Each one of them will be almost a 50:50 (may be apart for Serral - Drogo).
