The mastery achievement is to get 15 or less kills with Kerrigan while beating it on hard. I was finally able to do it, but it took umpteen reloads. I ended up with a couple PF's and tanks at Artanis's base until 65% or so, and I used Banshees to help Zagara until the same time frame. Then I just kept throwing up Bunkers and mass-producing Marines, Tanks, and Vikings until the end, where my base was overrun but I had enough time to win.

its odd i found this harder than the last mission on aiur on brutal. i should be able to finish it to night only played it twice so far.

This mission is kicking my ass on brutal. Maybe because I've gotten so used to playing Protoss over the past few days and Terran is breaking my brain, but I can only make it to about ~65% before everything goes to crap. I'm just trying to use static defense with a mobile MMM and tanks, but it just doesn't seem to be working for me.

Same. My best try is 90%. Allies (Artanis, swarm, etc) are too weak to defend themselves early which is crucial to have a good start.

Whoever said "Make ghosts", you're the man. Loaded a save around ~50% and just started pumping out spectres. Completely turned my game around. Didn't even come close to losing a nexus.

Spectres, Marines, Tanks and Planetaries. Least favorite mission in the entirety of the campaign (although it might have something to do with playing Terran).
|
I won this by using Kerrigan on big units and just pure MMM on brutal.

Haha, we should probably have a special difficulty level meant for progamers.
|
i won this easily without loosing much just by massing tanks and turrets. Use kerrigan to kill battlecruisers, broodlords and carriers. Make sure to use merc tanks as they are op

Tanks are so hard to mass early that I doubt this works on Brutal mode.

it was on brutal, for early game get a few marines to fill bunkers and use kerrigan power to survive. Then you have to be very fast in killing air units specially broodlords carriers and battlecruisers. Obviously you should expand asap and get the gases immediately.

welp, got a full night's rest, and I'm about to try the ghost strat. Let's see!
|
huh you can use kerrigan? I didnt know since we have to protect her.
|
Wow, Ghosts/Spectres busted this mission wide open. I still lost Artanis, because he basically has no defense, but overall, it was actually pretty easy.
|
BC's are pretty powerful in this mission IMO (brutal difficulty). Lost Artanis base 5 seconds before the end, but I had like 5k minerals in the bank so I'm pretty sure I can load it up at some point and put up some PF's there to delay it.

Small trick: you can destroy your allies assimilators with your units and get that sweet, sweet gas for yourself since you have automated refineries.

And now thanks to you, I was able to complete the only mission I couldn't do on brutal. Thanks!

Brutal difficulty -
Actually found this mission harder than the last one. My strat was use Kerrigan to kill all the big units (tanks, thors, bcs, colossi, etc). Took a fast expand, 3 bunkers with 6 tanks and 6 SCVs at each ramp, placed PFs with 8 tanks at artanis and then some PFs for backup around kerrigan. Massed Turrets around her also just in case. A roaming mass of 15 banchees and 15 vikings to clean up (mostly to help zerg). Kept all 3 bases up.
