Thanks for the info, man.
Honestly, Code A is looking sooo good this season.
|
Excellent, thanks! was looking for this.
P.S. How do they expect us to live for 10days without GSL games?
answer: NASL!
|
Ergh, just noticed Group A has 3 oGs players, too bad for them, but maybe MC can smack TheWind in to Code A so that TheWind can focus on coaching.

Nooo it's the ladder edition of altar! One of the best maps in the GSL isn't as good anymore

TheWind said he will retire if he gets knocked out of Code S :O

Metalopolis 1.1 and Xel'Naga 1.1 for group G and H only?
|
I'm assuming Violet isn't the BW progammer right? Maybe he's the next foxer XD

Marineking vs Nada....more tvt gogogo

lol @ MVP in code A after winning his second GSL

Wait, so HuK and Jinro are the only foreigners? Am I reading this correctly?

Yes moonglade was the only foreigner from the all star team to try at the preliminaries. I don't think we'll be seeing many foreigners try to enter code A from now on things are better in the international scene.

Respect. He's gone farther than any of the other coaches and that's chill. Anyone wanna do predictions?

Damn Code has good P and T but who the F are these zergs

Code A looks to be waay more exciting this season. Code S will have to play its way up to match
|
Bomber and Jjun looks like the best matchup in the first round.
I hope I get to see Ryung against Bomber or MVP at some point, and I am hopeful that MMA will be able to take this season.

Man, so many money match ups this season. I am super excited for this!

If somehow TheWind beats MC, I could very easily see SuperNova taking him out... really amazing how close to the precipice every Code S player is, as MVP can attest. Either way, 3 oGs in one group is a sad situation.

I don't think TheWind can beat MC, but SuperNova I could see losing to Polt due to his TvT being bad, and afterwards if he can beat MC twice, the group could possibly be 1st Polt, 2nd SuperNova
I really hope that doesn't happen though.... SuperNova better train his ass off to beat Polt...

What makes you guys think Supernova is a favorite to make out of the group? Just out of curiosity. I have a feeling it's artosis' influence more than anything else. He played mostly gimmicky 1~2 base play on traditional ladder maps (scrap station, close position metal, horizontal shakura, etc.) on last month's code A. Such as Raven + tank, hellion drop harras into stim all-in, banshee play, etc. I simply don't see anything special about that guy despite Artosis hyping him like there is no tomorrow. (Artosis seems almost have some 'special' relationship with team oGs and always hype their players, no matter how mediocre they are - such as oGsCezanne, oGsZenio, and oGsTOP to an extent) I personally think oGs' Terran line-up is pretty weak now that Nada isn't practicing full-time due to school. (Ensnare also in school)
On the new GSL maps Supernova absolutely got crushed by Polt, and his mistakes throughout were glaring if you did not listen to Artosis but paid attention to the observer and the production tab. His macro suffers and multitasking is quite amateurish. He did beat TheBestfOu but TheBest was totally out of shape, it seemed, and I didn't think the games were spectacular. I expect him to go down to up/down matches.
|
Never giving up on Jinro getting out of his group (unlike some people) I know he's got the skills to do it.
Thanks for putting up the scheduale. Got to make sure to mark those days on my calender so I can start picking and chosing what days to stay up late for.
Cant wait for this season!
|
Wait, can anyone who watched the selection ceremony tell me why MC decided to pick his own coach? I've never heard of anyone causing a teamkill on purpose.
|
Really worried for Huk. He's in the big leagues now jebbus. Difficult group to get out of for anyone.
Not all worried for Jinro. I mean...he's **** Jinro. When I see that group I see great entertainment.
|
@Fruit... MC wants TheWind out of Code S so he can focus on coaching, not practicing for his games.
|
Code A is jacked
I'm looking forward to MMA and Min
In code S: Polt vs Supernova and Nada vs MK will be epic rematches Group C is the most interesting to pick up new ZvP strats
|
Damn, every single code S group is sick this season. No more playing around, legends are gonna die in the RO32 for sure. Also all those badasses from the team league look to be in Code A this time around. This is gonna be the best GSL yet for sure!
|

In a previous interview, MC boasted that he would pick his coach in the selection ceremony so that he can be knocked out, thus allowing the coach to have more time for coaching the oGs team instead of practicing for GSL. TheWind is the last coach in the GSL, which is a huge feat considering that coaches have to get by with less practice due to their coaching responsibilities.

Really Hoping MVP will beat Lure at least ( I don't want to see him drop out of the scene just yet!! His BC's in TvT are total baller. Hope he's worked on his TvP .... seems all terrans are struggling with it still

he made it to the finals of code A and only BARELY lost to losira in a best of 7
also, there are certain people who have vouched for him like nada during some interview, and he ended up winning the FXOpen #2 only dropping 2 games to oGsZenio where a ton of great players like MC and MKP got knocked out
the tournament was also double elimination and Supernova did end up winning the winner's bracket

Mc will lose to supernova and beat thewind/polt, Supernova will lose to polt and beat mc/thewind
I'm feeling good on this prediction.

So maybe I could be wrong on my opinion on Supernova. But when it comes to code A final, I got the feeling that Losira was fooling around a bit since the difference between 1st spot and 2nd spot in code A is simply the title (and maybe $50 more prize money) 1st/2nd of code A get treated equally in all the other aspects. They were entertaining games, for sure, but I felt there just wasn't the tension that you normally see in regular code S matches.
|
Another thing I'm not understanding is how quick people make judgment on players from one or two games from the team league. Team league games are very different from individual matches for obvious reasons, and while it is definitely possible that those players (e.g. Min, MMA, Ryung, etc.) do have potential, but I can't form overall opinion on those players from one or two TvT, or a single ZvT, against B-team players from IM, ST, etc.
Only players I was impressed with from last season's code A and Team league are Alicia and Losira, and not surprisingly they are in Code S this coming season.

Pretty sure 1st place Code A got to pick their entire group for up/down before 2nd place Code A. With the way up/down matches looked last season, that's a huge perk. And IIRC, LosirA rolled through his group no problem while SuperNoVa gave us a scare by dropping his series against Polt.
Just thought I'd toss that in there...that while the difference in prize money is insignificant it's all about how easy it is to make the jump to Code S.

I was about to say "Goddamn it, Jinro has San", but then I remembered the other two players are Clide and NesTea.
If he makes it out of his group, he's a total baller because he made it out of the GSL May group of death. If he doens't, then it doesn't matter because none of us will think any less of him for losing to players of that calibre.
He's definitely got the skills to win though. If he plays his best he should make it out ... not easily, but without a ton of hassle.

I thought Min was awesome but I don't see him beating MVP.

I really really don't like the use of the Ladder edition of Tal'Darim Altar as opposed to the normal version. I really don't get why GSL are using it.
Here's why: 1. Tal'darim has always been noted as one of the most notable and favorite of the original GSL maps, but yet, recently it's been becoming flagged for being a bit Terran favored due to the cliff at the natural. With the original, at least the third has no rocks, and while it doesn't make the natural any more defendable, it gives players the option to easily expand to the third while sacking the natural as opposed to directly dealing with the tanks.
2. Why on earth is there a "ravine" between the main and the third, which you can't get to without drops/nydus? Only Terran's can put the ravine to any good use. I'm not saying Terran's are imbalanced on this map, but if there won't be a purpose for that piece of land, why add it?
3. Tal'darim Altar is one of the most visually appealing maps, but yet the Ladder Edition dumbs it down and removes the doodads around the main and the natural.
It's not such a big deal, but I think that the LE is a much weaker map than the original.

Having too many different versions of a map being used all over the place just adds confusion for both players and spectators. I believe GOM considers the changes made to Altar not a big enough deal to use their own version over that on the ladder. Unlike with Metalopolis and Xel'Naga Caverns, apparently.
|
new maps! \o/ I think it's really great that the GSL creates new maps from season to season, just to mix things up. Sc2 would be kind of boring if we'd had the same map pool every time.
|
The groups are so stacked, lets see if TheWind will get knocked out just as MC promised.
|
|
I can't find anywhere in gomtv.com that they are using TDA - LE. I sincerely hope that they wouldn't use the ladder version.
|
Bomber, MMA and Ganzi on first day, pure gold.

I really hope Boxer will pull through .

i really hope that huk will do fine in his PvP vs Inca, although he really doesnt like this matchup^^ lets pray that he has found the right way to play it.

Ouch, HuK got shafted in the groups. Inca, July and Rain? So much for Code S HuK.
Also, boo, all T group B.
|
Xel'naga Fortress and Dual Sight look like some really sexy maps to play on
|
My feeling is that group A was a blessing for OGS. I think that MC picking TheWind was already planned and it became even better when SuperNova was picked. Now all the ogs trio has to do is practice on how to beat Polt, which is far from being unfeasible, with the advantage that, if need be, they can throw some of the games against each other and manipulate the odds at games 5 and 6.

Even if he throws the games, I certainly hope he tries some crazy strat.

As a coach, i doubt the TheWind will play his full potential because one of the OGS member have to be knockdown in that bracket. I bet he teach SuperNova like " I will be doing this BO then you should counter it like this, ????, i gg".

Supernova went 7-2 aggregate against Zenio in the FXOpen and 3-4 against Losira in the code A finals. His TvZ is more than strong enough to win without any sort of fix.

woop, got my ticket today. seriously, you cant beat GSL. I would love to know how many subsriptions they get per season, Plus how many viewes big tournements get on average. Is there anywhere i can find these statistics?

got my ticket
also please make a gomtv app for Android

Man Code A is going to be crazy this season. Hopefully Squirtle, MVP, and MMA can play like everyone knows they are able to and get to atleast the up/downs. Pulling for Boxer and hoping Leenock wins the whole thing so he can pick who he wants in the up/down matches and avoid another death group -.- A lot of new protoss names. Hopefully they can bring some nice play to the table. Ace vs viOlet will be interesting. viOlet was a strong orc in wc3 nice to see him finnally switch to sc2. I need to find a replay of his zerg since I enjoyed his orc so much :D
|
Code A is going to be so great this season, I feel that I'll watch more of Code A than S to be honest, at least Code S has Tastosis
|
I feel so sorry for huk, he's so sorry for huk, he has july who is insane, and inca who is a pvp god, put him in another group and he's have a far bettere chance, but oh well, that's how the cards fell.
|
Just realized that if Leenock wins his Ro32 match, he plays Ryung. Just another misfortune in his career of misfortunes. Ryung's really strong.
Luckily, we haven't really seen Ryung's TvZ (we all know how beastly his TvT is), but I'm rooting for Leenock here. GOOO LEENOCK SQUASH THE COCA COLA CAN!
Oh, I also feel the brackets are a little skewed towards the top end. There are more skilled and notable players there than in the bottom (MMA, Hyperdub, Ganzi, Bomber, Leenock, Ryung, Boxer, Alive) vs (Ace, MVP, Squirtle).
|

Tried to pick upcoming/forgotten talent that was low on the points. By the way, you can't go wrong choosing Inca and Fruit Dealer for only 25 points. Code S players are much more apt to give you points than code A players with this system, even if they don't make it out of their group, just by staying in code S they will give you 3 maps worth of code A wins.
On the Jinro discussion, I honestly don't know why he stopped meching in TvP. That thor based mech with vikings to support just seems super ridiculously strong.
|
Another ID lulz : The opponent of Ganzi in Code A is listed here as "Peanutcracker" On GOM's page, it appears to be "IM_Nuts" :p
Apart from the odd combination, it should mean peanutcracker/nuts is in IM team
|
Looks like July gets a free ride into round 2. The Nada vs. MKP rematch looks to be highly entertaining, to say the least. It really sucks, though, that Jinro, Nestea, and San ran into each other in the first group. I hate to see someone that good fall in the first round.
Also, I don't really feel that bad for Huk. I think he kind of lucked his way into Code S and doesn't really belong. The people around him are just flat out better than him; he needs to improve drastically, and a couple of seasons in Code A practicing with/against Koreans should help him a great deal.

Yeah his ID was 땅콩샌드 which means a peanut cracker or cookie but he has just recently changed his ID and now it's nuts.

I really hope Losira makes a big splash this time, i really think he has the potential and ability to cement himself as a top Z player.
