No Moon?!
Not that it was expected but...
wanted to meet the Fifth Race again.

This tournament will be so stacked.

Hey look, nearly no EG members.. going to Korea by then anyone?
|
Awesome, and i will be there for the finals- woh! woh!

There are 28 more invite spots!
Invites look sick! Needs more koreans tho!
|
MC is everywhere.... nice!
|
Also the DreamHack South Europe Regionals Winner LucifroN will be replaced by SarenS.
A bit dissapointed with him. I think Lucifron could do great if he doesnt begin with Donraegu like in Valencia. He did great in IEM qualifier winning Stephano, Dimaga, etc.

Hells yeah, traveling from S. Korea to Sweden is clearly impossible judging by the invitees.
|
The prizepool is fucking sick. The first prize is around 29.860 usd!
|
Looks so solid... I watched Orly's run in MLG, hopefully he does well!
|
Wow, that's a lot of sick players!
EDIT: Moon not attending?! NOOOOOOO!
|
Excited to see Happy. He really is very good just chokes

I hope that MarineKing will be invited :D.
Nice to see that many french players, Stephano will probably be invited too and maybe AdelScott. Too bad we won't see LucifroN again for some time T;T I'm also happy to see Genius invited, even if I'm not specially a fan of him more different players invited is nice!
|
1st ~ $30,266 2nd ~ $13,617 3rd - 4th ~ $5,295 5th - 8th ~ $1,512
Nice!
|
Just to clear some things up:
The reason there was no 2nd prize in the Dreamhack Stockholm Invitational was because that tournament, and all the other Dreamhack ones this year, was mainly qualifiers for Dreamhack Winter 2011. This is THE Dreamhack Tournament ^^!
As always the tournament is held in Jönköping, Sweden 24th-27th of november I think !
|
Moon is still a pro WC3 player. This may sound like a small deal, but in actuality, he probably has more fans in China alone than most SC2 players do in the world O_o. That's probably why he can't make
Gogo Whitera and MC!
|
Oh god so much talent already in this thing, there's going to be no easy groups when we get to that stage.

A bit sad that moon won't be there, I suppose it's because he will play war3 for the rest of the year.
Lucifron is better than sarens imo, that's a lose.
But really nice line up.

Yes.
It's time for Nerchio to finally shine in the non-online event.

More qualifiers would be awsome but I guess when theres so many slots I dont have to worry. I imagine almost all the really good players who want to attend will be able to

that is a sick sick lineup. just wow, i'm so pumped for that event!

No, he's been at like every single Dreamhack.

Holy shit half of europe is going to be there! Wouldn't hurt with a few more KR/NA players though i guess. So far the starpower is just phenomenal.

This is one way of lpoking at it, but when sooooo much of the field is arbitrary invites anyway, it really makes those other tournaments meaningless - the people who won them would have gotten invited anyway (in most cases, like the Stockholm invitational you're talking about. If they want this to be the culmination of a series of tournaments like mlg, they should do it that way, but as it is now all those little tournaments are really just showmatches.

I think all American players should be forced to go through a fierce open bracket with just a couple of spots left to even reach normal pool play, just like they make the Europeans do in MLG.

American players don't make EU players do anything you realize that right? MLG makes people do things...

That said, let's hope they'll invite at least a single top-level korean T.

Is the group play made up of Bo3's? Cuz then you have a min of 288 games played in the first two days ^^

Currently there are three invited North American players. There were more Europeans then 3 in regular pool play at MLG, even though Sjow and Naniwa turned down their spots.

ehm... why? I mean, I love watching tournaments that are balanced in terms of everything, races, skill etc. And with top korean T (which are MVP and MMA) it's not really that much fun, they just roflstomp everyone and win the tournament... That doesn't seem like fun to watch (at least to me). It's the exact same reason, why I think ESWC will be better than Blizzcon this weekend (I plan to watch both, but there's no real fun in Blizzcon, since MVP/Nestea will win it and there's not even a doubt about it).

Shaping up to be one of the best events this year for sure

As some of you might have noticed sports 36 through 64 are still to be announced, so there will be another 29 players.... Rest assured that most of your favorites that have applied should get in.
|
probably worth putting in the current exchange rates in the op for people who arent swedish :D
200k kronar is the same as ~$30k, £19k or €22k
|
Ret's gonna be tearing some nerds hearts out.

|
I was surprised when Moon was announced at first so this was quite expected. He's not on a team which means he would have to pay the trip out of his own pocket. Add to that that he's been playing WC3 primarily as of late in preparation for WCG and would have a very hard time competing in SC2 right now. Expect to see more of him once that WCG trophy is his!

Of course there is an unfairness.
There are three major Starcraft regions, NA, EU and Korea.
Korea gets 4 spots for free for every MLG due to "being so far away and thus it would be unfair for them to have to travel all the way without even getting a free spot".
NA is already there. EU has to pay for themselves and has to qualify. Either way, EU gets the shaft.
If Dreamhack would do the same as MLG, they'd invite the Koreans but force to NA players to qualify and knock each other out in an open bracket with hardly any spots to compete for and no prize money. Guess how many NA players that would show up then?
To be frank, I do not want Dreamhack to do that, but the argument shows how absolutely rediculous the MLG system is.
|
I believe that Moon stopped playing sc2 in favor of WC3...It's speculated that he quit sc2 entirely

So many players not on that list, can't wait to see the whole thing!
Hope they can convince more popular Korean players to attend. The community should look to send some entertaining players again, sending marineking to MLG was a success
Bit hard to arrange this with this announcement format though... can't chip in before they accept the invite anyway, and if they accept they are already going in the first place.

I love to watch TLO nuke / steal techlabs and what not. Love to see Ret drone and go 4 hatch before the 10 minute mark. Haypro hovering behind pillars, Jinro arriving late flexing his ogs-shirt and sunglasses.

Never trust Naniwa to know what he is doing!

really hope Sase can get a spot.

Is there anywhere where we can find the results of the online qualifier ? Or even the list of players of the qualifier ?

Good stuff! The flags make me think that this dreamhack is being held in a UN convention center! International SC2 fighting.

This has been his only high finish. Seems a bit out of place considering who else is slightly above him. Dare I say a tier or 2 better than him.

Copenhagen games - 1st over Morrow (3:0) GosuCup - 1st over Nerchio (4:3) IESF - 2nd to Sjow (0:3) and the aforementioned ESWC where he lost to Mana then MarineKing.

@Copenhagen he was 3e I think. Compete cup 1st over Happy (3-1)

When you say stuff that are blatantly not tru maybe you should o a little more research before you post. Fine if you think Grubby shouldn't get an invite but at least don't base it on faulty premises.

But to be entirely honest Grubby has not had much success at all so far. It might change, but only blind fanboys will claim that he is a successful SC2 pro.
