The french team decides to stop the esport adventure, they want to focus on stream with casters.
Source ( in french ) http://www.eclypsia.com/fr/ec/news-3967.html Eclypsia confirms today that following recent events in its eSports department, the organization is going to concentrate itself on the development of its media and event sections.
Eclypsia has therefore redefined its strategy and is closing its Pro-gaming division. From this date forward, the LoL, Starcraft, Smite and Guild Wars 2 teams are officially released from their commitments to Eclypsia.
Everyone affected by this strategic change was warned in time and Eclypsia is dedicated to facilitating their transition to new organizations.
The entire Eclypsia LoL team, for example, returned to Millenium, to who Eclypsia offered its slot in IEM Cologne to allow its former players to play under the best conditions.
Some people will remain with Eclypsia, where they will take on new functions.
We thank everyone who supported us in this adventure, players and managers, but it is clear today that the conditions for maintaining a sound and effective Pro-Gaming division are not met: contracts, professional projects, commitments, etc.
Ecolypsia enters a new, dynamic phase and is excited for its development, which aims to promote quality journalistic content developed and made available to the public on its website eclypsia.com, and tournaments organized by it. The organization will benefit from this rethought strategy to extend it's know-how to video games other than e-Sports.
Eclypsia was a french team with players like SarenS and Sjow.
Best thing to happen to the e-sports scene in a while. These people have been actively undermining the reputation of E-Sports, either by horrible self promotion like with their "funny" april fools joke, or just by their dubious working methods.

A team disbanding is never really good, although in this case i somewhat agree. Just search for Eclypsia on TL, lol.
After their first mistakes in introducing themselves to the community they were pretty much doomed. They might have had more success if they chose more acceptable methods of making their name noticed in the beginning. This community can be stupidly unforgiving sometimes for good or for bad.
Google translate is imo enough to understand the message + Show Spoiler +

Esports division closed in short. People where informed beforehand and fe, the IEM spot was given to Millenium.
From the first day, I didn't like their team. They made some bad decisions and can't say that I'm sad. Anyway, I hope for mouz.Welmu and the others to find a team too.

Hm, it was obvious pretty soon that this team wasn´t walking a solid path. I`m not too happy about the team closing though as the number of teamless pros is really starting to heavily outmatch the demand by other pro-teams. Especially strong players with weaker name-recognition like Welmu have to compete with Naniwa, Sase etc. for one of the remaining spots on teams like Empire or Mouz.
I don't think anyone is surprised or saddened by this news. EC was a trainwreck of bad PR and horrible business. SC2 is better without their messed up drama.
Eclypsia was a complete disaster for esport and after ruining a LOT of things (like wanted to pay ex members for their silence, not paying cups, advertising their webtv directly hidden in other website, ... can't list all), and started to be hated on ALL game platform, they are finally gone !
It's a beautiful day, you will never be regreted ! Long life to esport and nice death of the most disgusting team ever created in esport game.
not exactly unexpected, they derped up a bunch of times with their "Esports division" and werent really taken seriously.
Though i havent heard much about their event-running, so who knows, maybe they'll work hard, slowly improve their image and come back and do tihngs right one day.
Not really surprising, because it was known that they don´t pay salaries.
all these unprofessional wack teams that are coming up and closing so fast... Why can´t the managers plan good and solid, so that teams don´t have any drama, or just don´t open these kind of teams.
Oh yeah and also, they continue to cheat on their webtv numbers to get dirty money : currently 7500 for a random noob guy probably not live with at maximum 100 real viewer on other times. How ? They continue to post their webtv on other website as a publicity and putting ads on the webtv advertisement... And also they automatly open webtv each time you visit a page on their website. Dirty business as always. More info here : http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=374470
Also : starting 1st avril and finishing the 12/12/12, that's what i call bad and dirty joke.
I dont see much hope in your new endevours as well considering your reputation. You want to make The Good Studio french edition but i have a hard time believing you can pull that one .
Not surprised really, but I hope Welmu finds a new team soon. He was probably the most active member, participates in online cups on daily basis and he works really hard.
Honestly it's a good thing. Eclypsia supplied a steady dose of stupid drama to us. This was the team that failed at an apology post by including images of kittens at the end, right? pff...

This is actually awesome, not negative news at all! Eclypsia was never any good for SC2 or esports IMO. They had no idea how to successfully run a team. This is one of the very few times I'm happy a team is gone...
I'm just surprised it took so long for them to completely disband.

Oh I didn't know that. I doubt that Welmu will join AL, since Naama didn't really enjoy playing for them. But good luck to Krr in his new team and let's hope Welmu is as fortunate!

Welmu hit rank 1 way more often than Krr the last few weeks/months but this shouldnt really matter, they are both sick good players. interested to see which team picks up Welmu
Meh, good IMHO , we don't need a lot of teams that are deadweight atm to esports . I think having more media is good though :3 especially streams and casters .

This team was just an enormous fail. When oGs disbanded I was literally looking at the team I loved going away and the players I loved being cast into diaspora. Now when Eclypsia goes away I'm pretty much laughing it off as a positive after that whole streaming fiasco.
Yeah, never was really sure what to think about this team... I guess the more troubling thing is how many teams seem to just disappear and drop their players. Kinda lame.
I honestly think its disgusting how the TL community treated Eclypsia. So many organisations in e-sport constantly scammed players, but this community had to go after one that was fair to its players.

Really? After the whole streaming scam they were pulling, after the terrible managerial choices they made? It is not disgusting whatsoever. Yes EC ended up not being so, so terrible in the end, but their decisions hurt their players, hurt the credibility of their team, and even affected the scene as a whole. Virgil pretty much summed it up.

Glad they're done so no other players might be duped into joining that joke of a team. Good riddance, and to be honest I hope their "streaming" "journalistic" site dies as well. The sooner the name Eclypsia is wiped from the memories, set as nothing more than a laughable footnote in esports history the better.

This, there's nothing disgusting about it. I was actually surprised at how forgiving the community was considering how many times they screwed up. It seemed like there was always someone willing to give them another chance when they really didn't deserve it. I can understand why you would think that if you didn't follow them closely, though.

"Fair to its players" is a bit disingenuous. 4 of their SC2 players left Eclypsia when they changed their plans to be involved in Korea (which I don't really hold against anyone). Their potential DotA2 team was dropped when they allegedly tried to change the terms of signing. SjoW got a rather random "punishment" for private matters that Eclypsia decided to publicize.
Needless to say, Eclypsia was a team that had constant controversy in PR and in player management.
I remember when they tried to open a "meme contest" on this site for Scarlett when she joined their team. Seriously, what the fuck were they thinking!? And all the bullshit they've been through, with pretty much their whole roster leaving them. Honestly, they definitely did not have the professionalism (or anything for the matter) to maintain themselves as a reputable organization.
And btw, didnt SjoW already retired? He made blog like 1 or 2 months ago about it...That's why he didnt played in DH Winter. He said that he dont gonna play single match for 2 months. But after 2 months he could play few ladder games if he enjoys...

are you sure you're not referring to merz? would be great if you could provide a link to it or something.

um its *too ffs
Yeah they kinda didnt come across as a super serious team, not posting the best results as far as I know. Well that sucks for the guys from the team, hope they all get a new spot in a team though
Oh.. May I celebrate. May I? I am even happy for the players, Hopefully they can get on a real team that does not do completely stupid PR tricks all the time. This is honestly the only team that I have dislike so much as to go out of my way to ignore. I am surprised that they lasted for as long as they did. Then again it wasn't even a year.
Still good luck to the now team less players. I hope you find a team in the near future.
I think Eclypsia's run in the scene will prove a valuable example to other up and coming organizations as a "what not to do" scenario. My thoughts go out to the players who were on the team and are now in limbo, it sounds like a lot of them are getting picked up by other teams which is good.
