Thanks to SeeKeR for the translation/info I wouldn't be able to get myself.
Cool depth pick-ups from Azubu. Genius, when motivated, can be one of the best players in the world, and I think San and TOP can return back to at least mid-Code A/fringe Code S if they return to a good team environment. Azubu has a lot of money and already have the two most popular/successful LoL teams in Korea.
I expect them to open their wallet with Supernova and Polt both available and them needing to add to their Terran roster.

Polt I don't think they'd get, because he wants to focus on America. SuperNova maybe, but not right away for sure, since he free agent'd today.

They're looking to build a competitive GSTL team though, aren't they? I doubt they'd pick up someone studying abroad at this phase, regardless of their skill.

It's not really a hunt if the girls all line up and wait for their turn. More like a "Line em up" thing.

Adding Polt would give them a foreign presence. They will more than likely have enough players to play in GSTL and can use Violet/Polt as heavy hitters who come over for big matches. Azubu is a German company and have offices outside of Korea. They are going to enter GSTL, but I think they want a global presence as well. One reason why Violet was their first pick up.
Expected this, and I'm happy these teamless players finally found a stable home. TOP/Genius can return to Code S form if they are in good environments, and San shows glimpses of brilliance every once in a while. I think SuperNoVa will fill in the Terran, with Polt as a potential candidate as well.
Azubu looking to dominate in LoL and in SC2 :D. hope that this team goes far, they have a lot of my faves from the old oGs team background players that have recently come of age .

A&M CSL team? D:
According to the CSL rules, no one can play that has lived in a professional gaming house for over a year, so that would exclude Polt sadly
On December 27 2012 15:06 Quartal wrote: Does AZUBU have team houses for their LoL teams? I wonder if the players in Korea will move into the same house/houses as the LoL teams
Yes both Azubu Blaze and Azubu Frost have their own team house (they are next to each other in the same apartment building iirc). I'm sure they will get a team house for SC2 as well.
According to the CSL rules, no one can play that has lived in a professional gaming house for over a year, so that would exclude Polt sadly
I know this is basically going through a loophole, and not even sure if I'm correct on this. I recall hearing that Polt wasn't living in a gaming house that he was staying on his own and attending his schooling? Is the stipulation that you can not be in a professional team? Or that you couldn't be in a established gaming house for that team?
Now there is every possibility that I am 100% wrong and Polt was staying at the gaming house, if so just exclude anything that I have said. ]
EDIT EDIT HOLY SHIT IRIS IN MANAGEMENT OAW MY GAWD IM CRYING. GOD BLESS AZUBU
Sorry for the double post but since ACE disbanded I wasn't too sure what happened to him, great to see he stuck around and got a great place to work at. One of my heroes for ever.
also funny that their management has more Terrans than the actual team :D

I think that the icon for that is just automatically taken from BW: TLDB. Seems that Genius played Terran in Broodwar. Don't fear, his SC2 Liquidpedia is still saying he is Protoss.
Great news! I always had a feeling that something like this would happen with Azubu, especially after Violet's success. Hopefully Supernova will follow them to Azubu, since that just makes a lot of sense for both parties. The IntoTheRain+Iris+NaDa player management team has a ton of potential as well.
Congratulations to all involved! Vines and San in addition to the already rumored pickups? Holy shit, we have ourselves a new GSTL competitor! Awesome!

With these players I'm sure they'll have great results in game. I'm excited that new companies are coming in to support the game, and I'll support anyone that does.
I'm just worried about stability since Azubu (as a company) isn't very convincing. Perhaps this is because their current projects are aimed at Korea, but all they seem to have going are a lot of vague long-term business plans. To be sponsoring big top-tier teams in several e-sports titles, which are like the riskiest investments imaginable, at this stage...seems questionable. Not that I'm any authority on business.

This is the funniest thing I have read in a long time
Wow intotherain and iris coaching? This looks really positive. Really happy to see IntoTheRain and Iris as a coach for This amazing new lineup of players, Lets see what Azubu can do! Sick Protoss lineup.
Mhh. Sleep, Vines, San, Genius, Violet could is an acceptable core for a run at gstl. Genius and San are two of my favorit protoss players and I think both of them could improve a heck of a lot in a stable team enviroment. I mean. San has been teamless forever now and he still had at least some impressive qualifier results, as well as some good games here and there. Also it's basicly common knowdlege that genius could be really fucking good if he would be practicing as much as other people. Violet and Genius are both treats for multi kills on any given day. But i think two more terrans and a Zerg would be nice. Azubu seems to have some money to spend, so I think Polt and Ganzi are possible. Altough having ganzi and top, who are both pretty far away from their peak may be risky. So maybe Supernova or STC are more likely, altough both of them lack any kind of flair i feel. Both of them have consistently done well when terran was on top(supernova more so than STC) and consistenly fallen of since terran got weaker. But even when they were on top of their game i never had the feeling they would win anything to big. Ganzi on the other hand looked like someone who would go to the big stage in 2012(i remember thinking that he and taeja would surpass MMA and ryung in 2012...), and after his teamswitch and his injury he fell off. But i think he had prett big potential. Zerg wise I dunno. I guess everyone who can make infestors. No srsly. Most zergs have teams right now and I think... Violet and Sleep are pretty good so they might wait with another zerg. I mean, nobody knows in which shape top is, but presumably he's not that good right now. And Inca and eve are not able to compete at Top korean level right now, at least that's what I think. Making DTs won't carry inca to another Finals and Eve you know... well we haven't seen anything from her as a protoss player, but i doubt she will come out and take games off top koreans.
I'm really happy for all of the ex oGs players, it was really a shame for that much talent to lie without a team to support them for so long. Although...I'm thinking another ex oGs terran would fit well into that team o.o Or Polt >.>
Now they definitely have a GSTL roster, it'll be fun to see how they do. Hopefully this will give all of the less active players more motivation to practice again.

theyre only good code S level player atm is violet, and theyre only good code A level player atm is genius......
top and inca have dissapeared from GSL for almost a year, infact top has not been in code A for more than a year.
Well, they certainly did not have the best training environment and still managed to somehow stay around pretty much on their own since oGs disbanded, which is really damn impressive. I'm sure most players in this kind of position would have retired a looong time ago. Hopefully they can get back up there now with Azubus support.
On December 27 2012 23:44 Gimmeurladderpoints wrote: Most zergs have teams right now and I think... Violet and Sleep are pretty good so they might wait with another zerg.
Afaik Yugioh and Golden are still teamless and they are pretty good.
violet is such an awesome guy! and the azubu roster just keeps getting cooler! so much personality and skill, i think everyone should keep an eye out for this team in the months to come. hots is gonna be huge with this roster!
And just like that they go from having only Violet, to having a solid roster that can be competitive in team leagues. I bet they make a move and try to get Supernova as well.
Moving to the USA is a rather dumb move imo. Maybe Violet (with the help of Zerg) can do well while living there, but I would be surprised if Polt manages to stay on top level. Not with the Kespa, and better ESF players...

Yeah, and oGs had by far the best jackets. NaDa as coach?! Azubu might be the Korean team I can like now. Violet is also on the roster. If they picked up Polt then it would be over. Game time. I want to see them in proleague or something with that beast lineup.
On December 28 2012 01:37 Sunfish wrote: Nice! I'm thinking they probably have a good enough lineup to do some team leagues now. Maybe we'll even see them in MCSL...
Did not expect Azubu to expand this aggressively into Starcraft even with the Nada announcement. I am exceedingly happy to see some of oGs get back into the scene in a potentially major fashion. Hopefully they get into IPTL and similar tournaments and get to show some results. It has been so long since I saw Top play.
Also, from a practical point of view, I really like how AZUBU has gone about their Starcraft division. I feel like a lot of eSports startups (MoW, Eclypsia, and hell, even Quantic) went wild in a unfamiliar market, taking big risks, jumping into new business models, etc. AZUBU started their SC2 division with just one guy, which really let them "test the waters" I think. They seem like a really well run organization who move methodically and carefully, and it might have taken a few more months, but they are really being rewarded for it now. AZUBU fighting!
On December 28 2012 03:06 ShakkaFL wrote: why would anyone sign Inca though, all he did was cheese his way to victory.. ah well
He was in Code S this year and beat players like Bomber in macro games and won an ace match vs Puzzle in oGsTL vs Slayers. He is around 50% in PvT and a PvP expert, can both play solid macro and extreme cheese. His only weakness is Zerg. I would say he is an allaround solid pick-up for a teamleague roster.
On December 28 2012 03:06 ShakkaFL wrote: why would anyone sign Inca though, all he did was cheese his way to victory.. ah well
Why would anyone NOT sign Inca? I'm dying to see him in team leagues again, always fun games when he's involved, worst case scenario is you can make fun of him for going DTs, best case scenario he's clutch and shows great games. Can't go wrong there.

Interesting choices tho, seems like they picked up every teamless pro. I would have loved to see some up and coming players or some players on some of the weaker ESF teams.

:O It's a shame she thought this necessary and more a shame that, for some people, it was.
=/ I feel like they went more for convenience than anything else. They got some decent players because they were available and didn't require any work. Doesn't look like they have any chance to get far in anything though.
imo, Vines is way more useful than Sleep. Although he surprised me and showed decent results at 1-2 tournaments, I don't count count on him. I see Vines as a stronger player from his gameplay. Really though, this is kind of true =/ Azubu is counting on Genius becoming awesome again, which will be difficult. Idk why they'd sign so many lesser names though (yes they were famous in the past, but they don't have much reason to be picked up right now).
Looking forward to seeing Genius, San, and Violet play it out =D! The rest of the pickups are not as noteworthy or contenders in my opinion. Hope they get it together and at least practice a lot, not everyteam needs powerhouses anywho!
Really happy to see news like this for another Korean team outside of Kespa. I'm not going to say that all of these players are top tier, but I do expect them pop up every now and again, and I do hope they improve with a dedicated coaching/managing staff and viOlet around to challenge them.
Good luck to these guys, but I expected something more ambitious from azubu. Genius is decent and sleep will win games because of other reasons, but the rest just isn't on a sufficient level. Let's see if the coaches can be of any help.
i would have picked yugioh before sleep but oh well... same goes for naniwa he was probably the best free agent protoss. also supernova and polt would be awesome picks
Heck of a team now. I really want to see Genius come back into Code S/championship-caliber play in the coming months. He was one of the first progamers I ever saw live, and I've been a fan since.

That would be amazing, but "Players who have spent more than 1 year living in a professional gaming or team house are not eligible to participate", so he wouldn't be able to play. If he could then we would have actually have a real ace player, I'm trash at sc2.
