ByuNPrime Gerrard (Prime’s Head Coach)
Source: This Is Game
You secured Prime’s victory with a 4-0. How do you feel?
Gerrard: ByuN normally gets nervous pretty often but I think he did a great job of showing some great plays without getting nervous as he took games one and two. I am kind of disappointed that Maru and MarineKing didn’t get to show that they were just as good as ByuN but I am still glad about the victory. ByuN: I feel so good since this was my first ever all kill. Today was Classic’s last match so I am glad that I was able to win like this.
As you stated yourself, this was your first ever all kill.
ByuN: I didn’t think I was ever going to achieve an all kill during my lifetime. I have no idea how I pulled it off (laughs). I think I was able to achieve this victory because I was able to win games one and two like coach Gerrard previously stated. I am so happy.
Following the all kill from yesterday, another Terran achieved an all kill today. What do you think about this?
ByuN: A lot of people seem to say that Terran is really powerful but if you look at the Korean GM ladder, aside from one player, everyone else is Protoss. In my opinion, it’s just the better player that wins.
Contrary to your usual late game macro plays, you won game one pretty quickly with a fast timing attack.
ByuN: That’s not what I was aiming for. I was all ready for the late game stage. It’s not that I just all of a sudden decided to change my play style. Luck was just on my side. However, game four was a head to head battle.
ByuN: For game four, I had absolutely no idea whether or not I was going to win until the end. I was still skeptical about my victory even as I was winning the final battle. It was a really difficult game. Prime is currently tied at #1 along with StarTale. What are your goals for this season?
ByuN: Fir st of all, I want to make sure that I do my absolute best for every single game that I play. I don’t have a specific goal yet but I do want to defeat StarTale, who I view as a rival team. StarTale has a very established roster and we do too so I really want us to face off against each other. Gerrard: Our goal is to do our absolute best for every single match in order to advance into the playoffs with a #1 ranking. Since we were able to kick off the season with our best record ever, I want to make sure we do our absolute best to ensure we ride this momentum all the way to the #1 spot. There is a notion that aside from its Terran lineup, Prime is relatively weak in other areas.
Gerrard: It’s true that our Zerg lineup is rather lacking. But Emir and TerOr are working really hard so I think we’ll be able to show an even better form in a little bit. Regarding our Protoss lineup, Creator is showing a great form and Lucy is improving at a rapid pace. I can’t help but feel like Lucy is going to grow into an ace card for us. A lot of people are wondering about Barbie.
Gerrard: Initially, we wanted someone who could rival StarTale’s Aphrodite and AZUBU’s Eve. Since we’re facing StarTale next, I want to see if we can organize some kind of faceoff between Barbie and Aphrodite. We will do our absolute best so that she can put on a spectacular performance.
Anything else you would like to say?
Gerrard: I want to thank all the fans who cheered on for Prime. I honestly think today’s victory was the result of us persevering through the difficult times and not allowing ourselves to give up. I know that our source of strength came from the fans so we will do our best to ensure that Prime becomes the strongest team. ByuN: With today being his final SC2 match, Classic has decided to retire from the world of pro gaming and will now pursue a career in the world of eSports. I really hope he succeeds. Recently, several former SC2 pro gamers left LoL and came back to SC2 so I hope they work hard and make some good results (laughs). Honestly, whenever we have inhouse practices, it is clear that Maru and MarineKing are better players than I am. So I hope everyone will lie in eager anticipation for their performances. Lastly, the dog you guys saw on camera was not my dog (laughs).

Was sad Mkp didn't get to play, but awesome to see byun do well. Its always a mystery what byun comes out to play, genius or scrub. Gogo prime to take it all!
|
D: I thought Classic was showing some glimpses of huge skill in his in late WoL performances. Sad that he retired. That makes Prime basically a kiddo team. Dunno if they have even one player above 20 now ^_^

Great interview! It was cool that the coach was there too.

Sad for Classic CoCa to Prime and ByuN + CoCa = <3

Aphrodite vs Barbie would be an interesting opener haha.

Lol Prime terrans always saying the other Prime terrans are better than them when they are interviewed after a good performance. Kind of reminds me of this picture of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates laughing together : "You are so much better than me Byun! _ No you are MKP, you too Maru. _Fuck you fuck zergs I'm gonna 11/11".

ByuN is def the "Kassem G Terran" :p

She should face off against Scarlett.... Still think it's some what sexist how they treat women Starcraft players.

I assume it's going to be treated like Idra on FPL. I picked him, and he was never played (obviously), so no points.

I'm pretty sad to watch every korean team hiring a female "progamer" just for the sake of this tbh... It's amateurish at best.
Oh well, on the subject at hand, I'm happy than ByuN is kicking asses again.

She is an honored caretaker of ByuN's puppy
FUCK YEAH BYUN!
Kinda funny that the coach was sad for MKP and Maru. Prime's Terran lineup is just so strong. Now all they need is to pick up Jjakji so they never lose a team league again.

Glad I picked Byun for my FGSTL.
Thanks for translating.

Everytime someone talk about a team needing a terran, they think of Jjakji, but I'm pretty sure Jjakji will stay with NSH until the team disband completely. And since it's tied with an university, I'm not sure it will ever disband.

Remember MaRie ? Neither do I ! That's why they gotta have these gentlemen's agreements otherwise they're just going to be that girl in team photos instead of that girl in a booth.

Good interview. It was a nice change to see the coach's perspective as well.

Should rather have Barbie play against Eve and Aphrodite against Scarlett if they want more female games to make them a bit less one-sided. ^^
Edit: Oops, forgot they already played against Azubu just now, haha. Well, then I guess there is not much they can do. ^^

lol no one in SC2 can even come close to her notoriety, and even then she wasn't as good relative to everyone else.

At her peak, Tossgirl was actually competitive with other BW players and not just a complete rollover.

Did I say that she was terrible? Hell I'm watching her SC1 replays right now. She was competitive with other players, but relative to everyone else she was at best an average pro gamer.
Not to take anything away from her by saying that because for a lot of people that is an achievement on it's own.

Coca is back? ^^
Ty for the interview. Glad that Byun got an all-kill. Barbie ^^

I definitely agree that Prime is primarily (har har) dominated by Terrans, but it sounds like ByuN is confident in the progression of the teams other two races.

.. That would be manslaughter. ._. What's sexist? I've never seen Barbie play. Heck, I don't recall anything noteworthy from Evie or that other guy's girlfriend either for that matter. They are fortunate to be on the bench and helping cheer them on.

Isn't that what you would want to hear if you're on his team? Sounds like a pretty fair, political answer if you ask me.

Most definitely, I'm just hopeful that Prime can put together a racially balanced team.

Sexist, As in all female Starcraft players are treated more like sex objects then players. Do the girls practice with the guys ? Are they really taken seriously? To me it's just look like they're just another pretty face for nerds to drool at. Everybody talking about her looks and not her skill.

Damn, Prime really need some depth. Maybe Puzzle and CoCa

she is a mid master player on KOR. So while she might not be terrible in SC2, you shouldn't expect her to compete with top level pros...
