no Daybreak. Forst is in. Korhal Sky Island is in (although with the spawn changes unfortunately, but i get it from a competitive standpoint). looks like MLG actually did something right for a change :D

On the plus side:
Frost and Korhal Sky Island! Amazing games incoming.
On the minus side:
Derelict Watcher. Ugh. The center of that map is SO open that I can already picture Life cackling madly with glee as he plans ling floods that will absolutely slaughter all players in his path.

Awesome map pool, but incredibly lame that they changed the spawning positions for Korhal. Having alternate positions is what makes Korhal so decisive. We've seen enough PL games to realize that it doesn't matter where you spawn, you can wall off in time.

Awesome pool! But definitely allow all spawns on Korhal because 1 and 7 take all of the fun out of the map

whats the point of Korhal if you remove the other spawn? I though MLG attendants are mostly pros who can really afford to wall off 2 ramps

The change to Korhal from MLG is ridiculous. It's removing THE key concept from the map.

I personally dislike Korhal because of the wonky spawns in the top left and bottom right, but was going to look forward to how pros play on this map, to help me with my own play. I guess I will have to go to streams for that.
Otherwise, great map pool! I'm really glad to see Frost in there, as it shows recognition for third-party map makers.

^ Its not like the map hasnt been used in PL for several weeks right? Afaik there isnt any problem on the other spawn except fast pools + drone pulls which, most of the time, is your fault for not scouting anyway.

Loving MLG actually picking a updated map pool! That Frost is in there as well is a good sign but why would they force spawn on KFI and not Whirlwind?! 0o
Anyhow this is probably the best map pool MLG have every had.

I agree and it makes practicing the map on ladder impossible T_T Also I wish blizz would insta add Frost since it was the TL map contest winner and it's in MLG, why wait a whole season make the ladder fun

Usually MLG is like the slowest tournament to evolve in the map category, I'm a little surprised.

The whole point of Korhal Sky is the unusual spawns. It barely deserves the name without them. Use another map if you don't want that

I've never seen Korhal with the 1 o'clock and 7 o'clock spawns before. It's always been the other set in the matches I managed to see.

Korhal is such a nice and unique map because it's 2-in-1. Top right vs bot left is like a normal map and Top left vs bot right is a new and exciting map. You never know which one you'll be playing until it loads up too. Sad to see them mess this up (Sundance: I get it) (Apparently not )
Nice to see Frost in the map pool. Hopefully it will be added to ladder next season.

I get that there are legitimate issues with the weird spawns on Korhal, but if you don't like the idea of them just use another map. Is the standard spawns version of Korhal really that great? It seems like there is another map you could use if you just wanted a kinda-standard map with a lot of bases.

Also, this is the same group that disappeared the island on Metropolis. It's been established that all they want is standard maps.

Good thing they only enabled 1 and 7 position on sky. Pro-players would otherwise never pick this map to play on, as they dont know if they will be able to play the strat they had in mind (due to uncertain spawning positions), while this is mainly the reason to pick a map: to give you a strategical advantage over your opponent. So sad cloud kingdom is gone , guess it has had it's time.

Map pool looks pretty good overall. Changes to Sky Island aren't good but the rest is great.

Korhal Sky change: " Well, we just don't like diversity". That's what it seems to me. Also, 7 is to many. make it 5.

Good map pool in my opinion. Especially happy about the Korhal change. Yeah, I know people are upset that it stifles diversity, or whatever, but in all likelihood it would have just led to bizarre, gimmicky games. Novelty for the sake of novelty is not a good thing.

Me too, it's easily been my favourite SC2 map. Just so good.

i would argue that on-the-fly ingenuity is a sign of greatness and that i, for one, would be interested to see whose got the stuff to handle the various spawns.

I wonder what exactly prompted MLG to change Korhal? I know there would be a problem if the map was not forced cross but with the forced cross it becomes one of the most interesting maps in the current pool. (in my opinion)

The original version is cross-spawns only, but it could be either a 1vs7 cross or 10vs4 cross, which generates completely different games, it's the main feature of the map.

I wish that the Korhal sky map would be that way on ladder too. It's literally the worse map i have ever played. I would much rather have back Jungle Basin or Steppes of war.
