As much as people may not like it, KESPA is the way forward as a player. I can't blame him.
|
|
YAYYYYY! He totally deserves it, qualifying for code A while teamless ain't easy! I'd looooove to see CoCa kicking ass again.
|
Would be awesome. Love Coca and miss seeing him in action.
|
|
Cool. It would be interesting to see him play.
|
This would amazing, as Coca has always been a very exciting Zerg to watch, so long as he wasn't playing LoL
|
Nice for him
|
ugh, I was hoping for a sponsored team.
But if Team 8 cut major (asked TRUE to retire?) to make room for Coca, rather than orderly close out the team, then I'm happy for Coca. Team 8 needs a strong zerg.
|
Can't blame both Coca and Puzzle for going to KESPA teams when they were so righteously fucked over by the other ESF teams while they were on SlayerS. The practice ban thing was pretty disgusting IMO.

Go Coca, he deserves to be on a team

Puzzle is at KT and CoCa seems to be going to 8th eh?

Ooh, this would be great for CoCa.
|
daww had hoped he'd be the new axiom zerg, but this is nice too, hope he keeps up his game, always loved his games!

Team8 has money to hire more players? I think KeSPA is already putting the future LOL Proleague's profit into SC2

Hmm, if true I guess T8 won't die too soon. I hope this works out well for CoCa regardless! He's a great player.

And that was part of the reason why the eSF tried to prohibit players from practicing with Slayers. It was a very shady move, and when it was reveal, Coach Won of Startale, who was president of eSF, had to apologize and step down. But by then it was already too late, and Slayers was dead. Fucking eSF

Someone correct me here then, I thought there was a whole debacle with SlayerS and the ESF where teams on ESF were essentially "banned" from practicing with SlayerS players? If that did in fact happen, it seems fairly obvious why they would both end up on KeSPA teams, right?

Oh boo hoo I clearly stated it was just my opinion, which I can spread whenever and however I please. I wasn't saying in some crazy, objective way that I knew exactly what was going down. Just that I thought the practice ban thing as I understood it, was disgusting.

Ah ok gotcha. Touchy issue for you being a huge slayers fan. Don't wanna bring up old emotions n stuff. I totally get that. I'm just suggesting that since a whole lot of former SlayerS members have ended up on KeSPA teams that says something. You know, if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck?
Now, what it says I'm not exactly sure but I think it has to do with them feeling slighted by ESF. That doesn't mean I can place the blame anywhere definitively I'm just saying theres a definite trend with where the former players are heading.

He was playing ByuN in an ESV weekly, ByuN was losing hard and asked CoCa to leave in the game chat, obviously this was considered to be akin to match-fixing and so both SlayerS and Prime benched the respective players for a while. It's especially tragic because CoCa was easily a top 5 Zerg at the time, and whatever restrictions SlayerS imposed upon him pretty much robbed him of the opportunity of greatness at the time. Hopefully he'll get back into a similar shape soon though. ^^

Details are clear and facts are facts, Coach Won as a respresentative of eSF did this:
On October 19 2012, StarTale's head coach Won Jong Wook resigned from his position as president of the e-Sports Federation amid a controversy regarding the relationship between the Federation and the recently disbanded team SlayerS. Kim "Jessica" Ga Yeon, manager of the latter organisation, had indeed explained that the members of teams affiliated to the e-Sports Federation were instructed for a period of many months to not practice with SlayerS's players, which was a significant detriment in preparing for tournaments.

As I already said, it isn't that clearly cut. Back when this happened, I spent hours going through shit and found many instances of players on both sides thanking each other for practice during what was guessed to be the ban period when I was in the midst of pointless, emotionally charged debates. This doesn't mean that there was not a ban, it just means that what actually happened between the teams during those months isn't as straightforward as "they never played games against each other".
Right though, I am going down the wrong road right now, I think it's time I leave this thread! Grats to CoCa!!!!!!

if he is able to get in his old shape (or better) its a nice addition. The other 8th guys collecting good individual league results too lately and with JD coming back in 4-5 month (?) they can fight for a stable place in the mid of the bracket.

And that would look stupid, signing one and releasing four.
Kicking a bunch of players for underperforming and then signing one that qualified for challenger league is a dumb move now?

coca very skilled player, too bad slayers ruined him when his zvp was beyond amazing. Thanks slayer, hopefully he can get back to that level.

Weren't Kespa just dropping players? It seems a bit odd for them to pick up CoCa.
Still, the evidence seems pretty convincing... we'll have to wait and see.
|
Sweet!! Congrats to both sides

CoCa is probably the biggest underachiever in terms of skill to success ratio of any Korean I have seen. Hopefully he rededicates.
|
|
Does that mean 8th team does have a future?
Just kidding. Congrats!!

You forgot about the best player in the world, Clide.
|
Wow. Sic for CoCa. :D Hope to see him on top!
|
Coca used to be the sole hope for Zergs in ZvP. Really good to see him back on a good team.
|

It's not Kespa only. The first stage of the qualifiers is divided into kespa and esf + koreans on international teams and Taiwanese players. The second stage combines the qualified players of both kespa and esf (+ Taiwanese and "international" koreans) and some seeded players.

Basically KeSPA organized their own qualifier just like for MLG, and IEM organized qualifier for other non-KeSPA Koreans.

Go go CoCa! Kick some ass on T8, they need a strong zerg. Looking forward to seeing him tear it up in Proleague!
|
sweeeet, i liked him so much
|
Good for CoCa! Im glad to see him on a team finally! one of my fav zergs before he switched to LoL
|
CoCa was really impressive for a while. Hopefully he can climb back to that form.
|
very surprising O_O CoCa is a Brand, at least in foreign szene he could have joined alot teams with an ok salary even not won alot in last time, his name pays out ... but team8 ? the most broken kespa team ? i cant see him get alot money there

Nice, that's great news for him.

Joining a team without sponsors is a pretty risky bet

That is great news for him I always liked him and I was wondering what he has been up too. Now I know hopefully he will show play that we use to see Coca Fighting!!!!!!!

this makes me so happy :D

Hell yes! Congrats Coca! I've been waiting for awhile for him to join a team.

Im more surprised SKT and Woongjin didnt join the qualifiers. STX and KT seems to be the more active teams in international competitions sending players to WCS AM qualifiers and such.

so does this mean team 8 is not disbanding/found a sponsor?

conflicting information~ no one knows what's going on with t8.

He was a great player, he most prolly still is. I surely hope to see more of coca in the future!
|
Still wondering why they took so long to announce it. Kept bugging coL too pick him up, but it was too late as he had already joined T8 (or signed? I dunno).
Figured they would have announced it after he qualified for Code A, but either way, CoCa has been wrecking KR ladder and qualifying for Code A should show he has what it takes to hopefully retake his spot as one of the best Zergs around. I think back before he gave up Code S he had a ridiculous ZvP win-rate, or something along those lines.
|
Cool news!
Hopefully we find out more pro league info soon as well, I can't see Kespa picking up players if pro league isn't going to start up again quickly.

You think IM is gonna move to KeSPa and leave esf?

Cool for Coca. Good to see these long time SC2 players getting a shot on KeSPA teams.

goodluck.. is the one who switched to LoL? then came back?

There's no incentive to stay with eSF other than loyalty. Myself not caring if a team is kespa or ESF and having no loyalty to either organization I'd much rather see IM in Proleague because as a competition it is much better than GSTL. It airs more often, It's more serious, the competition is better, it's aired on OGN so they get more exposure.

I thought both LG-IM and MVP were trying to join proleague? Or was that only for LoL?

Consider the fact that EG-TL would not be participating in the LoL proleague if they continue with the sc2 proleague next season.

But EG has a LoL team though(Probably not on the caliber of Korean teams though, I don't follow League). EG could theoretically stay in for LoL Proleague but also stick around in the SC2 proleague with TL.

No chance ever that EG LoL would leave EU LCS to play in Korea, absolutely no chance.

This is great news for CoCa. I haven't been able to see him play much in HoTS, but he should have a lot of televised matches in Proleague.

Why is Team 8 purging players, but still picking up other players?

Probably because they don't make the cut. When your near the bottom of the standings changes have to be made.
