A tournament with actually balanced race distribution? SORCERY.
|
I gotta admit, WCS AM is defintily the tourney that excites me the most nowadays... Much more than KR and that laughable racial distribution...

This has a good diverse player list in many senses

Agree with all previous... FINALLY we can look forward to matces with different matchups!
|
Well this region lock thing seems to be not working.

AM has the best premeir league line up for sure. balanced racial distribution means we will have a awesome range of mus to watch, this puts wcs kr to shame lol.

17 Koreans? That's too little for WCS KR.
|
9/32 are actually from the region but on a upside the race distribution seems ok
|
Sweet lineup, got to say. Taeja, Polt and Bomber for Terrans, and Jaedong for Zerg. I'm looking forward to one of them winning this.
|
Lots of new faces and not all of them are going to stand up well against last season's favorites. I'm most excited to see how all the chinese players do, It's nice to see Sen again too.

China, Taiwan and SEA are in the WCS NA as well, it may not be in the name, but its a way to get the leftover regions involved too. So the players from the 'region' are at 15. The Europeans are all gone back home now it seems.

Could have been much funnier, but 6 Koreans were eliminated in Challenger
|
KR is still the most interesting region, but AM is gaining ground.
|
It is somewhat silly to have the host region so underrepresented. 17 Koreans and you call it WCS America, that would be like calling a sport where you barely ever touches the ball with your foot football!
Seriously though I don't see this as a very big issue. Which big name americans or talented americans are actually missing? The only one not in it, from the region, which I would have liked to see is Astrea, Catz and Drunkenboi (Disclaimer: Personal opinion).
This way you have some very talented americans, just gonna sweep everyone in under this term, up against some very talented koreans. Which makes every game interesting and a actually contest with local favorites to cheer for, and it even have a good race distribution. In terms of quality content there is plenty to be had. I can't even decide which two I want in the final, too many people to Root for.

17 Koreans is (not joking) totally expected for the NA division. I'm just glad that this many actual North Americans got in given the challenger league!
I also do like the race breakdown which is pretty close to even.

You clearly don't understand how the system works. It makes it a lot harder to qualify but most of these Koreans had already qualified already so they are not easily removed. But 3 Koreans that were in Premier were eliminated and only 2 new one added. (Bomber + Select (some consider select America). So it working pretty well just will take time for the majority of Koreans to be removed from the league.
|
The lineup looks fucking awesome. Unfortunately, there is no way in hell I can catch anything live, so VODs will have to do it for me
|
WCS AM is a lot like Code S a year and a half ago minus maybe 4-5 people
|
Poor astrea..shoulda been his debut.

So how many visa issues are we going to have again?
|

id expect at least one out of the 4 china players

For people complaining about having 17 Koreans, I hope they realize that there could've been 23 Koreans. Also, there was an article about how the new roster lock wasn't going to help anytime soon as we would likely see around 21 Koreans in Season 1 using . Having it down to 17 Koreans already is a big step up in comparison to projections.
|
|
Could be called "WCS Pacifics". Wouldn't it fit?
|
So apparently because China/Taiwan players aren't being counted as from this region even though this is supposedly their "home" region for WCS? so 17 Koreans and 15 home regioners is actually a lot more balanced then it was before IMO. This is Premiere league so I wouldn't expect the up and comers to unseat the top Koreans immediately, but we saw abunch more homegrown players in Challenger league this season and it was enjoyable getting to know some of the new players. As we saw with WCS Europe anything can happen in this new system, and it's great seeing the lesser known, home grown players getting a chance to show their skills against some of the top players in the world. Hopefully this gives them incentive to practice hard because it's definitely possible to advance in this new system

If Drunkenboi had just won one more map they could've gone the distance last night.

17 koreans..Is this the GSL thread...?
|

Guys, Korean Terrans don't count. Like Day9 said there are 4 races. Protoss, Terran, Zerg, and Korean Terran.
Race distribution still imba wtf blizz!!! JKJK
This region excites me. Lots of good players but still some foreigners mixed in to keep our hopes up!

How drunkenboi doing now? Nice to see people talk about him imo I'm happy for him!
Used to practice with him before the exp came out and me stoping to play, he was really decent and showed great promise
well that maybe 8-9 months ago if not more

EU could still look like KR this season, time will tell.

The p/z/t distribution looks exciting. Most interested in seeing Jaedong, Scarlett, Polt, Hero, Taeja and Bomber play. Who do we think are the most exciting protosses in this lineup?
|
Scarlett is the only foreigner zerg ;;
|
|
Doesn't look like the region lock helped much looking at previous seasons line-ups. Then again a lot of the players were seeded from last season.
|

Some other notable players who lost their Challenger matches and therefore will not be in Premier League this season include:
Violet - lost 3-2 to China's Top. Sage - lost 3-1 to Taiwan's Has. Kane - lost 3-1 to Major. qxc - lost 3-1 to Select. Suppy - lost 3-2 to Masa. CatZ - lost 3-2 to TheStC.

WCS steps up to be a shelter for the endangered TvT match-up. Just in time.

17 Koreans. It's WCS Korea, B League.

Except they aren't exactly B league players, its more like WCS AM is WCS KR A League ;p

Sen, (Z)Toodming, (Z)XiGua
perhaps you think just cause they are also asian, they arent foreigners, and thus the same as koreans?

Madness,
Scarlett is clearly a Korean!

There were those of us who knew this was going to happen after seeing who got seeded into Premier. Almost 100% Koreans got seeds. The interesting part of this is that people here actually seem surprised that it's another Korean WCS America.
|
I'm actually very happy with the distribution of players that advanced. There were quite a few surprise results sprinkled into challenge league I can't wait for premier to start and for next season of WCS AM challenge

And suddenly, I'm actually way more pumped for WCS NA than KR. And a while ago, my past self wouldn't have believed my future self if he could tell him he'd write that in the future....

Wtf is a Korean Terran? I only know of Maru.

Really they should name the WCS regions by just letters or something. WCS Region A, Region B and those regions would include various countries/continents and players who reside in those places would be in that region. They could even get creative - Region Dragon, Region Serpent or whatever. Maybe it sounds silly but no less than calling it 'America' or even 'Americas'.
|
i hate this wcs system.. why? WCS AM > GSL CODE S WTF
edit: no really... WHAT.. THE.. FUCK..
|
such even distribution of T, P, Z
yeaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
|
For once we are starting to have EU and AM premier league players who would be candidates for Code S too.
It's good because this season's Code S will be unwatchable to me.

Yeah if by 100% you mean 62.5% (10/16) koreans from challenger got to premier then yes I agree! :D
|
Unfortunate to see Suppy not make it, but glad that Oz and Alive are still competing even though they were dropped from EG.
Lets see if Jaedong can take 1st this time

Didn't taeja get bumped up to premier to replace hack?

yea...Taeja is listed in the opening post...

First Matches of the Ro32 are : Player #1 vs Player #4 and Player #2 vs Player #3 ?!

|
Pretty sweet lineup. Look forward to how it turns out.
|
Well, at least Polt lives in Texas. That's gotta count for something. Dual Core, GO POLT!
|
I don't understand why people are still complaining about the number of Koreans. I think the current lineup for wcs America is looking great and I think under the current wcs system the next season will have a lot less Koreans in it. Already looking at the groups 5 Koreans are automatically out. I think there is a fair chance major knocks out crank and alive in the teaja group and I think heart and select could easily get eliminated as well and that's half the Koreans out right there and at most only 2 can qualify back in right? I think the next few season are going to be really awesome. I could not be more hyped for wcs America and I couldn't care less about gsl, really the only player I would want to watch is maru.
PS. Go Scarlett!!
