Group C of IEM Shenzhen ended with both zergs advancing. The Tyrant Jaedong got off to a rocky start against puCK, losing their first game, but eventually came through to take the series. Solar had little trouble with HerO, but couldn't keep up with Jaedong's ZvZ in the Winners' Match. puCK again put up a good fight against Liquid'HerO but was eventually forced out of the tournament by HerO's relentless aggression. In his interview, HerO stated that he hadn't been practicing in a while due to issues in his life, and that he was feeling especially lost in the matchup against zerg. It showed immediately as Solar once again beat him convincingly and took second place in the group.
While the previous group went as expected, Group D absolutely did not. Jim surprised everyone by only dropping a single map, beating Life and TaeJa to win the group. Acer's MMA will be disappointed with his performance, dropping out 0-4. TaeJa and Life found themselves battling for second place and, after losing the first map, the Liquid terran showed a strong hold against Life's baneling aggression and then turned on the pressure himself. A decisive hellbat push won him the series and the final spot in the quarterfinals.
Perhaps the two most impressive players at the tournament so far, Zest and Innovation, find themselves on opposite sides of the bracket. The quarterfinals feature four different matchups, all of which could definitely go either way. Don't miss the conclusion of IEM Shenzhen!

+ Show Spoiler +Jim vs Life: Game 1 crazy 8:30 Immortal Sentry attack Game 2: Jim took too much early dmg and couldnt hold his third vs burrow roaches Game 3: Sangate while dealing with ling counter attacks
Jim vs Taeja: Game 1: He shut down Taeja's famous widow mine marine medivac aggression pretty easily. Then killed him with gateway unit + colossus. Game 2: The first 8 minutes were pretty much the same as game 1. Taeja then lost to unscouted proxy Dark Shrine .

Wow Zest/Taeja and Solar/Inno. Bummed about Life though I think he should've beaten Jim

Sorry Zest, but you're gonna have to play Taeja. I think Jim won because of home field advantage, unlike Brazil...

Zest 3-0 TaeJa Jaedong 3-2 Snute San 3-1 Jim Bogus 3-1 Solar
Zest 3-1 Jaedong Bogus 3-1 San
Zest 4-2 Bogus

Well... After the continuous talk of how Taeja only beats B teamers, he's going against a Korean who is arguably best in the world, at worst top 5. That said, if Taeja wins, someone's going to mention how PvT is Zest's worst matchup
Go Taeja! And if you lose, Go Zest (my second favorite player in this tournament).

I agree, can't see anyone stopping Zest if he continues to play like this

Oh god, Zest versus Taeja in the quarters? That's a finals-quality matchup right there, even if Zest is probably going to kill Taeja.

The argument isnt that taeja is terrible compared to kespa koreans. Its just that if he is placed against better players his winrate will decline as opposed to 23-0, not necessarily saying that he cant win against kespa players. Taeja is definitely capable of beating Zest on a good day

Snute JD will be so good. Can't wait
